5-Year-Old’s Mysterious Illness Is Suddenly Cured When A Safety Pin Falls Out Of Her Nose

Any parent knows that kids like to play with things they shouldn’t and will put just about anything in their mouth or nose when you’re not looking, and for one California mom, her little girl’s mischief sent them on a 6-month wild goose chase.

For over six months, 5-year-old Khloe and her mom Katelyn Powell visited doctor after doctor for a constant runny nose that was green and smelled horribly. Over the months, they visited three different kinds of doctors, including an ear/nose/throat specialist and even a dentist, to figure out what was wrong but none of the medicine they prescribed her for the sinus infection they believed she had made any difference.

They were all getting frustrated that nothing seemed to be helping, until one day Khloe’s uncle asked her to blow her nose hard and a 1.5-inch safety pin finally dislodged from her tiny nose. “I almost passed out,” Powell said. “I couldn’t believe it. It was huge. I was like, ‘Where did this come from!'”

Khloe tried to pretend she had no idea where the safety pin had come from, but after some questioning, she finally revealed she had found a bag of safety pins six months ago and wanted to see how far up she could get a pin up her nose.

“She’s amazing now and there hasn’t been any stinky discharge since, but we just want to be cautious,” Powell said. “We’ve also since had the talk and there will be nothing going up in her nose again. Never again.”

French Mastiff Saves Little Boy’s Sight By Showing His Parents He Was Going Blind

The parents of a visually impaired child believe their 182lb dog is responsible for saving their son from going blind.

Alfie is a 182lb french mastiff who has been inseparable with their 5-year-old son Mark since birth.

Parents, Sharlene and Mark Cannon of South Lanarkshire, United Kingdom noticed Alfie would always place himself to the right side of Mark. While the behavior seemed unusual, they said, “We always just thought it was a funny coincidence that Alfie would only sit or walk on one side of him,” Sharlene told Caters News Agency.

But it turned out to be more than a coincidence last April when Mark made a trip to the eye doctor and was diagnosed with severe astigmatism in his right eye. The doctor told the family that their son’s vision had become so blurred that he could barely see out of that eye. If he hadn’t been diagnosed when he was, he could have lost his eyesight altogether.

And then it all made sense. Alfie noticed the boy’s disorder before anyone else in the family, and even before young Mark himself.

alfie 2

“Alfie was always there by his right-hand side to guide him,” Sharlene told Caters News Agency

Mark probably never mentioned anything about his right eye because he didn’t know any different. He is very lucky to have his guardian angel dog right by his side.

And unbelievably enough, this isn’t the first time Alfie detected an illness in the family before anyone else.

Alfie always licked the leg of the family’s other dog named Cass, and when they took Cass to the vet in December, she was diagnosed with a tumor in her back leg, exactly where Alfie had been sniffing and licking. “I think he was trying to lick away the cancer,” said Charlene. Unfortunately, Cass has since passed away, but Alfie has been spending all of his time now with Mark.

Are you impressed with how in-tune Alfie is with his family?

When given the chance to make a wish with the Make-A-Wish organization, most kids dream of meeting their favorite celebrity, going to Disney World, or even going on a trip around the world. Yet this young girl battling brain cancer only had one wish: help the planet.

Eight-year-old Amelia Meyer has been battling brain cancer, yet is determined to help make the parks in Kansas City safer, cleaner, and more beautiful. Yet in order to make a bigger impact on the environment, Amelia and her family contacted Make-A-Wish to organize a day where she and anyone who wanted to help could go out and clean up the trash in four of the city’s parks.

“She could’ve wished to go to Disney, she could’ve wished to go on a cruise or go to Europe, and her wish was to take care of the world for the day,” said Haw, a manager with the foundation. “I just can’t tell you how much I wish other children would be this much of an inspiration.”

When the day finally came, Amelia was stunned at how many people came out to support her and make her wish come true. Throughout the day, the mayor, the fire department, a soccer tea, and other volunteers came out to help. “I thought there was just going to be some people, not this much,” Amelia said.

“With all of the excitement that’s been around this wish and getting people involved and getting the word out there, it’s helped us forget for a little bit,” Amelia’s mother Jill said. “We didn’t think it would go like this. We were hoping for 30 people at Swope Park picking up trash. It’s a very, very hard time for us but to see this that this came out of that. My level of gratitude is unbelievable. My kid is so happy today and that’s what it’s about and that just thrills me beyond words.”

Lombard, the adorable golden retriever puppy began training to be a guide dog when he was just 10-weeks-old.

His raiser, Hana Kim was responsible for spending approximately 12-15 months with Lombard to make sure he was ready for the next step in his training. Over the course of those 12 months, Hana filmed Lombard for 1 second a day, and turned the video into a beautiful time-lapse of Lombard growing from puppyhood to formal training.

Children Surprise Lonely Old Man With A Sweet Song In Sweden

They say love is a universal language understood by all. You don’t need to learn it, love just comes naturally.

That is exactly why no matter where you are in the world, spreading just a little love and happiness can go a very long way!

The following video is part of a social experiment filmed on a busy subway or train platform in Sweden by YouTubers STHLM Panda. However, once you see it, you’ll see that this type of behavior should be more the norm than a shocking viral video.

In the clip, which can be translated to English by hitting the “CC” for subtitles in the lower right-hand corner, we see a lone little boy approach an old man who is also all by himself.

When the adorable boy asks the older stranger his name, his response prompts the child to signal to his tiny and equally cute buddies to come by.

What happens next is absolutely precious – and something we wish would happen way more often.

[YouTube]
[YouTube]

“We wanted to spread some happiness during the rush hours in Stockholm.” STHLM Panda wrote on YouTube. “It’s often pretty boring to travel to work or school!”

As you can see on the old man’s face, the impromptu song definitely put a smile on his face and love in his heart.

This Blind Goat Was Struggling To Get Around, So Her Best Friend Stepped Up To Be Her Guide Goat

Dogs are naturally the first thing most people turn to for guide animals, yet this farm animal named Maurice is proving that goats are the perfect guide animals.

In 2015, Farm Sanctuary, an animal sanctuary that has been rescuing abused or unwanted farm animals since 1986, rescued an eight-week-old goat who had been born blind. Despite her struggles with her disability, she constantly craved companionship and needed someone who could help her navigate new surroundings.

Goats are natural herd animals, which means they crave companionship, and panic when they’re separated from their herd. Marcia was rescued at such a young age, so never got the chance to bond with anyone. “She was constantly wanting somebody and crying a lot,” Susie Coston, national shelter director at Farm Sanctuary, said.

Then a few months later, a six-week-old goat named Maurice came to the sanctuary, and since he was still too young to be aggressive towards a goat he didn’t know, they bonded instantly.

“It was actually perfect,” Coston said. “They both wanted somebody and they were crying and crying to get to each other. Marcia will follow Maurice wherever he goes,” she added. “He just loves her.”

Shalom Nchom has been trying to conceal her traumatizing scars for years, but the 20-year-old beauty vlogger has a powerful message she wants the world to hear…

When Nchom was just 9-years-old, she was involved in an accident with hot oil causing her to suffer burns to her face, hands and shoulders, along with losing most of her hair.

“I was stared at by kids and older people whenever I stepped out. I felt like a living statue that people came to see. I cried on many occasions,” says Nchom.

Japan Opens Nursing Homes For Elderly Dogs Who Need Loving Care

If you’ve been lucky enough to have a pet in your life for many years, then you know just how difficult it can be to see them struggle with aging, just like any other family member.

There comes a point in every dog’s life when they need more care than any owner can give them, no matter how youthful they are. Euthanizing your dog can be a heartbreaking, horrible decision for a pet parent to make and unless the dog is seriously suffering to the point where mercy killing is the best route, there aren’t many other options for senior dogs in agony.

To combat the growing issue of aging animals in Japan, one organization called Roken Honpo, which according to the International Business Times can be roughly translated to “Old Dog Head Office”, is giving canines the opportunity to live out their last days as some of their very best yet.

[YouTube]
[YouTube]
Much like retirement homes or senior care facilities here in the U.S., at Roken Honpo, dogs who are battling the inevitable can spend their elderly years in comfort and great care, as opposed to being home where their owners can’t give them what they need.

Owner Mie Kawaguchi told IBT she saw a need from many pet owners in her country and wanted a place where their dogs can get regular veterinarian attention.

[YouTube]
[YouTube]
“Having people and animals interact in this sort of form is good for humans but also for the animals,” Kawaguchi said, referring to how important that personal one-on-one care is.

Do you think canine nursing homes would be a great idea for aging dogs here in the US? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

This Marine Was Struggling With PTSD But A Four Legged Hero Saved His Life

Soldiers and Marines go through intense training to help prepare them for what they see and experience while on the battlefield, yet no training can fully prepare someone for the hell that is war.

Captain Jason Haag served in two tours in Iraq and Afganistan, but he was never the same after returning home from his last tour of duty. During those tours, the Marine saw his friends die and almost died when he was shot. Those horrific memories followed him back to the United States, and despite being far from the battlefield, he developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which would make him feel as though he never left.

“I definitely didn’t do anything about it, I just went in on myself. I crumbled. Hit my breaking point. And I was just done,” Haag said.

After his wife gave him an ultimatum, Haag finally decided to get the help he desperately needed.

Haag turned to a stranger with four paws and a bushy tail for help, and hasn’t looked back since. Axel, a four-year-old German Shepherd was trained to help with PTSD, and senses when Haag is about to have a flashback as well as calms him down in social settings that can be overwhelming.

Axel has Haag’s back no matter what the situation, and is helping him get better each and every day. “If that doesn’t define the word ‘hero’ I don’t know what the word means,” Haag said.

Selfless Couple Gave Up Their Dream Wedding To Help Starving Children

Newly engaged couple Shehzaan and Zainab Chunara, wanted to start their lives together by giving back, so they did something really admirable instead of having a wedding.

The pair decided to donate much of the money they would have spent on their wedding to a good cause.

This idea came about when they began adding up wedding expenses and started to think it wasn’t worth putting that much money toward something that would only last a few days.

“We wanted to use the money for something that would have a lasting impact,” Shehzaan Chunara told TODAY.com

The groom’s father came up with a great idea to give the money they would have spent on their wedding, to a cause that’s near and dear to their hearts.

The happy couple, both 24, decided to donate to the Aga Khan Foundation, which works to end poverty by investing in infrastructure, education and self-sustaining communities around the world.

“We love this foundation so much because they focus not on giving someone something, but rather providing them with the will to go after their dreams,” Zainab Chunara told TODAY.com.

And on top of the money the couple was donating, they also encouraged their wedding guests to donate the money they would have spent on a gift to charity. Sheehzaan says,

“I’ve seen poverty up close and it’s extremely heart-wrenching. We felt like it was the right thing to do to give someone an opportunity to have clean water, an education and a roof over their head.”

And Zainab’s parents grew up in India with very little money, so this too, hits home for him.

The couple says they look forward to seeing the impact of their efforts, and the foundation is sending them to Africa this year to see the work they do first hand. And for their wedding, the pair still got married, but at a small ceremony surrounded by 70 close friends and family. It was also the day they donated all the money.

Little kids often dream of becoming firemen or policemen when they’re grown up because it’s usually one of the closest things to being an actual superhero, and getting to save the day.

Three-year-old Minh ‘Tatum’ Khang has been obsessed with the police for that very same reason, and to surprise him, his parents decided to call their local station, the Westminster Police Department, to see if an officer could come by and meet their little boy.

Officer Mike Gradilla volunteered to go and spend some time with the boy, and took some pictures together in their matching uniforms. Yet as exciting as the experience was for Minh, Gradilla was moved by the experience and hopes to possibly mentor the little boy as he gets older.

Teacher Is Forced To Resign After A Student Steals Her Phone And Leaks Nude Photos

She was greatly wronged by one of her students…but did she really do something wrong?

A South Carolina teacher says she is being forced to resign after a student stole her phone. The 16-year-old took the phone of Leigh Anna Arthur while she was in the hallway monitoring students. He then went through her photos and found nude pictures intended for her husband, according to WSPA-TV.

Beyond just taking the phone, the student also shared them on social media and texted them to friends. Once the pictures were leaked, he told her, “your day of reckoning is coming.”

And he was right…

As a result of the leaked photos, the school is asking Arthur to resign. While this obviously reflects poorly on the school, Arthur had her phone stolen and personal information shared. Was she in the wrong and should she be forced to leave her job over a personal matter in which she was the victim?

Superintendent Dr. David Eubanks said that Arthur was at fault for making the photo available to her students by leaving her phone unlocked.[Credit: Union County]

“I think we have a right to privacy, but when we take inappropriate information or pictures, we had best make sure it remains private,” David Eubanks, interim superintendent of Union County Schools, told The State.

He also told the New York Times that students had used Arthur’s phone in the past for schoolwork, so it wasn’t unusual for them to get ahold of it.

A petition to bring the teacher back, started by several students, has received more than 3,000 signatures. “Leigh Anne Arthur is the victim of a blatant attack of her privacy,” the petition reads. “The circumstances in which Mrs. Arthur was let go is unacceptable, and must be corrected.”

You can hear the entire report in the video below:

Who is in the wrong here? Should the teacher be fired over this personal matter made public and what about the student?

Whether you’ve been diagnosed yourself, or you’re supporting a friend or loved one through their fight, almost everyone at some point in their lives has been affected by cancer. When this little girl sat by and watched her aunt lose her fight to the disease, she knew she had to do something to help.

At just 10 years old, Madeline Domian already knows how brutal cancer can be for a person both physically and emotionally as she watched her late aunt Kathy, or ‘Katiedo’, fight. When she gets older, Madeline is determined to find a cure for cancer, but until then, she’s decided to honor her aunt by helping others during the tough treatments.

At first, Madeline tried selling cookies and donating the funds to the American Cancer Society, but she knew she could do more to honor her late aunt.

“When she died, I thought I should do something bigger,” Madeline said. “I thought, all kids want to do is be happy and I wanted to let them be happy when they go through their treatment.”

The fifth-grader came up with the idea to start ‘Katiedo Kare Kits 4 Kids’, which provides supplies and treats like stuffed animals, lotion, and coloring books to make treatment a little more pleasant for kids with cancer.

“All kids want to do is be happy, be with friends, play, so I wanted to make little kits to make them feel happy so that they feel better,” Madeline said.

Cute Toddler Calls 911 Because She Needed Help Putting Her Pants On

Many parents will teach their kids to call 911 in the case of an emergency, but what “qualifies” as an emergency is up to the child to decide.

A 2-year-old little girl from South Carolina recently dialed 911 for a really adorable “emergency.”

“She just really needed help getting her pants on,” Deputy Drew Pinciaro, a public information officer for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said.

The toddler, Aaliyah Garett called 911 on Wednesday, and said “hello” a few times before hanging up.

Deputy Martha Lohnes was in the area of the child’s home at the time, so she rushed over to make sure everything was ok. When Deputy Lohnes rang the ball, the little girl came to the door with her pants half on, saying she needed help getting them on. Of course Lohnes offered to help, and she even tied her shoes for her!

Aaliyah’s mother, Pebbles Ryan was at work at the time but she was shocked to hear her daughter called 911. While she taught her daughter to call 911 in the case of an emergency, she never expected her to call for help getting her pants on.

“My dad gave me a call and was just like, ‘Your daughter just called the police on me!’ Then he said Aaliyah wouldn’t let the cop leave and was too busy hugging her,” Ryan said.

And Deputy Lohnes was more than happy to help. After getting calls about really serious emergencies all day, this was a breath of fresh air and one that really made her day.

Don’t Eat That! Here Are Foods You Never Knew Can Poison Your Pup

Whether they like to follow it or not, every pet parent knows the golden rule that you should never feed your dog food from the table.

Yet most will agree it can be pretty hard to say no to those puppy dog eyes when you’re just going to trash your leftovers anyway…

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
That’s why we wanted to share the following list of foods your dog should never, ever eat. Because even though something might be tasty, healthy, and nutritious to us, that doesn’t mean it will have the same effect on your canine companion.

As a dog owner, you’ve probably heard not to give your furry best friends foods like chocolate or alcohol, but here are 5 more foods that completely surprised us…

Salt

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
They may be completely addicting to us, but according to WebMD, it’s a bad idea to give your dog salty foods like potato chips, pretzels, and popcorn. Excessive salt can lead to dehydration and sodium ion poisoning. “Symptoms of too much salt include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, and seizures. It may even cause death.”

Grapes (and other fruits with seeds or cores)

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
Just because these tiny fruits are delicious to us, it doesn’t mean they’re good to our pups’ stomachs. Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure, while other fruits with seeds and cores can be harmful to their digestive systems and even poison them. Here’s a list of fruits dogs are safe to eat.

Avocado

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
Guacamole is one thing I love to put on just about everything, but when it comes to our pets, they need to pass on the good stuff. Avocados contain persin in the leaves, plant, and fruit, and it can be toxic when ingested by our pets.

Raw meat and fish

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
You’ve heard the old saying “give a dog a bone”, but in reality, that’s not always such a great idea. Bones can cause choking and the meat can give our pets pancreatitis. Raw meat, fish, and eggs also often contain bacteria, which can lead to food poisoning just like it does in humans.

Onion and garlic

[Shutterstock]
[Shutterstock]
Just like with humans, onions will definitely make your dog cry, but in a very different way. Onions can cause serious damage to canine’s red blood cells by causing hemolytic anemia, which leaves dogs short on oxygen and can lead to poisoning. Garlic also contains a toxic ingredient called thiosulphate. Even foods that contain small amounts of cooked garlic and onion can make pets sick… that’s why it’s never a good idea to give Fido your leftover chinese food!

Watch below to learn about more foods that man’s best friend should never eat. Our pets look to us for love and care…don’t let them down!

Lions may be the king of the jungle, but one man, nicknamed ‘the lion whisperer’, is proving that these fearsome predators have a softer, loving side.

41-year-old Kevin Richardson is a South African conservationist and founder of a wildlife sanctuary, which is now home to over 30 lions. Over the years, Richardson has formed an incredible bond with these big cats by forming a trusting relationship through love and understanding, rather than breaking their spirit with abuse and chains.

Through these bonds, Richardson has been able to start a conversation about animal conservation, and raise awareness of the issues lions face both in captivity and in the wild.

Recently, Richardson was part of a photography project, which aimed to capture his unbelievable relationship with lions and prompts the question:’What legacy will we leave for our future generations?’

While Richardson plays, wrestles, and cuddles with these animals as if they were harmless puppies, he is hyper aware of the how dangerous they can be, but through the bond he’s worked to form over the years, he’s proving that lions are wildly misunderstood.

There’s not much more heartwarming than two very unique people – or animals – who can put aside their vast differences and play nice. As you can see in this shocking story about a lion, tiger, and bear, who became the best of friends, just about anything is possible!

That’s why it comes as no surprise to us here at LifeDaily that the following story about a sweet lamb has everyone talking. Known as “Lammie”, this little animal angel lives at Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center and Cheetah Conservation in South Africa.

Lammie first started making headlines when she befriended Gertije, a young rhinoceros who was left an orphan after poachers killed her mother. As you can see in this heartwarming video, Lammie has brought great comfort to the distraught rhino and the unlikely BFFs have quickly become the center’s most popular residents.

This time around, Lammie has found a new friend in a baby elephant who also had a traumatic start to life. Baby Amanzi, who was named after “water” in Zulu, was rescued from a mine pit by a rescue mission group called Elephants Alive. When the rescuers tried to reintroduce Amanzi to a nearby herd, however, the little one wanted no part of it.

Instead, the baby was transferred to Hoedspruit, where – you guessed it – Lammie was happy to take him under his wing.

Every pet parent knows that when their dog or cat goes missing for any period of time, it can be absolutely crippling to think about whether they’re ever going to see them again.

However, as you can see in this incredible story, for someone with a disability, a guide or therapy dog can be so much more than just a canine companion. They are their extra pair of eyes, their ears, and often their safety net during difficult times.

That’s why when Tian Fengbo, a blind man in Beijing, China lost his seeing eye dog and best friend to dognappers who forcibly took the black Labrador away in a van.

A few days after a notice from Fengbo, a masseuse, went viral online, and family, friends, and strangers alike searched everywhere for the 7-year-old dog, he miraculously returned, but not the same as he left.

A white plastic bag was tied around the brave seeing eye dog’s neck, with a note inside.

“We are sorry. We send the dog back and beg your pardon. We have also been under great pressure these two days…” the note read.

Yet instead of being angry at the thieves, Fengbo told People’s Daily Online, “Honestly, they were kind to send the dog back. I care more about the welfare of animals, especially guide dogs, than about finding the perpetrators.”

4-year-old Harvey Price is being called a hero at his school in South East Wales for saving the life of a choking classmate.

Harvey, who goes to Pantside Primary in Newbridge, was eating lunch one day in the cafeteria when he noticed something alarming. His classmate, Aniya Williams was eating a sandwich, and when she went to have a drink, the food became stuck in her throat, causing her to choke. Harvey instinctively knew what to do, and he began patting Aniya on her back to help the food come up.

Harvey’s teacher, Kira Watkins describes the incident, “Harvey reacted immediately and whacked her on the back. He jumped up without even a second thought.”

He wound up saving Aniya’s life, and his quick thinking in an emergency situation earned him the title of Dr. Harvey by his classmates.

Harvey’s mom, Kay Price says,

“We’re absolutely ecstatic, if I’m honest, me and his dad. For a four-year-old to think quickly like that – we can’t get over it. What if no one else had noticed? They are all making a fuss of him at school. The dinner ladies and the breakfast club ladies, they all make a fuss of him and call him ‘Dr Harvey’.”

And Aniya’s mother, Sinead Williams says that although her daughter did not understand how serious the situation could have been, she thanked Harvey for saving her life.

Single Dad Begins Hair Braiding Class To Help Fathers Avoid ‘Dad Hair’

For most men, a simple ponytail is beyond their grasp when it comes to styling hair.

However, for Phil Morgese, there are few hair challenges he can’t overcome. Morgese is a single father homeschooling his daughter, 9-year-old Emma. Being a single Dad has forced him to learn a few stereotypically maternal traits. He told LifeDaily he never wanted Emma going to school with “Dad hair,” so he taught himself to braid.

The results are impressive:

Now Phil is training other Dad’s in the art of hair braiding.

Once a month, Morgese, who describes himself as a man’s man despite the braids, will hold a workshop in which fellow Dad’s file in with their eager daughters. He then goes over the basics of combing through knots and detangling strands.

If the Dads can master this art, they are given the chance to braid hair too, and surprisingly, Dad’s all over the country are signing up to braid hair.

The story went viral on Reddit back in October, and since then, classes have been popping up all over the country.

“I started this class just to help a few Dads, but at least a thousand people have messaged me saying it changed their relationships with their daughters” Morgese said.

He says that while braiding is the crux of the class, bonding is what it’s really about. Morgese has built a better relationship with his daughter through hair and he wants to inspire other Dads to do the same.

Since it’s conception, the “Daddy Daughter Hair Factory” has grown into a small business. Dads have even progressed far enough to the point that Morgese has started his own advanced class to take on a few more challenging style.

Some of the Dads struggle, while others nail it.

But of course, the most important part has nothing to do with the hair: it’s all about spending quality time together. Phil has grown closer with Emma since starting the class and their relationship continues to grow.
