No matter what your opinion is on gun control, it’s pretty clear that firearms and children do not mix. In 2015 alone, on average, toddlers shot someone accidentally once per week.

Despite the numerous statistics that prove how dangerous it is to have young children around guns, Jamie Gilt, a pro-gun activist from Florida and mom, was set on raising her son around these deadly guns and explained in a post to Facebook:  “my right to protect my child with my gun trumps your fear of my gun.”

In fact, Gilt was so passionate about guns that she was already teaching her 4-year-old son how to use guns, and how to shoot.

However, when driving together one day, her son picked up her .45 caliber handgun, and accidentally shot Gilt in the back as she was driving.

Gilt managed to flag down a police officer to get help, and while waiting for the ambulance, she had to explain that her son had been the one to pull the trigger.

Detectives have yet to figure out how the 4-year-old got the gun in the first place, and may charge her if she failed to keep her son away from the firearm.

Pro-Gun Mom Accidentally Gets Shot By Her 4-Year-Old Son is an article from: LifeDaily

Teachers spend so much time encouraging their students to grow and helping them with any problems that eventually, the students become like their own, which is why the often go above and beyond their job description to make sure their students are safe and happy.

When this Wisconsin first-grade teacher Jodi Schmidt found out one of her first graders was sick, and desperately needed a new kidney, she knew she had to step up and help if she was a match.

To let Natasha and her family know the good news, Schmidt called grandma Chris Burelton down to the school for a surprise. After opening the pretty pink box, Burelton found a paper inside that revealed Schmidt was a match in two places. “You? Oh my gosh!” Burelton cries. “Here I thought she was coming to school because she was naughty!”

“I’m so excited,” Schmidt said. “I figured I’m O-negative blood and it did just come to me. I think we’re all brought to a certain place and time for a reason.”

Watch The Emotional Moment A Teacher Volunteers To Donate A Kidney To Her Sick Student is an article from: LifeDaily

12-year-old Marcie arrived at the Kenton County Shelter in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky after being picked up off the streets. 

She wandered alone for weeks before making it to the shelter, and she arrived deaf, blind and covered in fleas. To make matters worse, the shelter discovered Marcie also had terminal cancer. 

Sadly, Marcie’s cancer diagnosis basically made her unadoptable. But a shelter volunteer named Bill Baker had a different vision for this discarded companion. 

Bill had been a volunteer at Kenton County Shelter for a long time, and him and his wife, Libby decided to take Marcie home with them. 

“When they brought this poor one in, I just loved her,” Baker told cincinnati.com. That love prompted Baker and his wife, Libby, to invite Marcie into their Lakeside Park home and their hearts. “We thought we’d give her some comfort in her last days. Turns out, she’s done so much for us – reminded us what it is to be human. She’s a joy.”

For the past five weeks, the Bakers have showed Marcie with love and affection. “She’s our little girl,” Bill Baker said. “She’s the sweetest girl,” Libby Baker said. Their priority has been to keep a close eye on Marcie and to make sure she’s comfortable up until her final moment. 

The shelter director Elizabeth Cochran says that everyone at the shelter is touched by the Bakers’ gesture. 

“This is the most beautiful and special adoption – the fact that they were willing to take her on and tend to her needs and give her a great life for what time she has left,” Cochran said. “It’s an adoption that rarely happens. We’re so grateful to Bill. Bill is the most kindhearted and gracious individual. He’s a great volunteer. He spends so much time with each and every animal. He seems to communicate with them on a deep level.”

Lisa Binns of Shelter Dog Photography has gotten to know the Bakers over the years as she volunteers at the shelter as a photographer. She says, “There is no way that Bill could have left that sweet girl in the shelter. Even knowing that his heart will be broken when she is ready to go, he couldn’t say no to those beautiful eyes even though they will never see his.”

Baker told cincinnati.com that he has a heart for all the animals at the shelter, especially the older ones that often have a difficult time finding a home. 

“Everybody goes straight to the puppies,” he said. “It’d be nice if more older dogs got that kind of attention. They need you. They make great companions and they’re so understanding of humans. And, they appreciate what you’re doing for them.”

Although Marcie doesn’t have much time left, she will be living out her days filled with love.

Kindhearted Animal Shelter Volunteer Adopts Dying Dog is an article from: LifeDaily

Despite being so adorable, wild animals deserve to live out their lives in their natural habitat, not be forced into being domesticated and living life inside cramped cages.

When rescuers found Fifi and three other bears they had been abandoned in tiny metal and concrete cages, and had wasted away to skin and bones. For over 30 years, these bears were part of a small roadside zoo in Pensylvania, and had been forced to perform tricks until the zoo was shut down in the ’90s for multiple Animal Welfare Act violations.

It was only until 2015 that rescuers intervened and finally found Fifi and her brothers. “They were so well-hidden in the country that no knew even knew they were there,” said Pat Craig, Executive Director of the Wild Animal Sanctuary.

When Fifi was rescued, her coat was thin and dull, she was incredibly thin, and she was suffering from painful, untreated arthritis.

Finally, she was transported to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado where she had space to explore and run free. “[We knew] her spirit was going to soar really quickly, [even though] her body was going to take a while to catch up,” Craig said.

Now, Fifi has finally been given the chance to hibernate for the first time in her entire life, and at 30-years-old, she is healthy and getting stronger each day.

The first thing the nutritionist told the obese, middle-aged man to do came as a big surprise. Eric was advised to adopt a shelter dog to get him outside, moving around and help in social situations. He found himself as a new dad to a dog who was neglected and unloved.

What happened next changed Eric and Peety’s lives forever. Their story is one that deserves to be told!

When Gert Hendry was just 5-years-old, she learned to dance from a Rockette, and she’s been a dancer ever since. To celebrate her 93 birthday, Hendry decided that the only thing she wanted to do was teach her dance class to a bunch of 4- and 5-year-olds wearing birthday crowns, and not even her age could stop her.

While working on your birthday seems cruel to most, Hendry explains there’s nothing she’d rather do, and her students know it. Her passion is what keeps parents sending their kids to her. “The crazy thing about this class is that the moms of this class were in this class,” said assistant Amanda Stiles.

However, Hendry’s dance classes are about more than just teaching her students how to use their body. Her classes teach them to use their brain, too. “I teach them to respect and love each other,” Hendry said.

93-Year-Old Dance Teacher Celebrates Her Birthday By Teaching 5-Year-Old’s To Dance is an article from: LifeDaily

William Ledbetter recently proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Paige Evans, but he also wanted to include her adorable daughter. 

They would be forming a new family after all, so Ledbetter did something really beautiful to include her. He decided to “propose” to Maddie as well by getting down on one knee and asking Maddie, “You want to be my daughter forever, too?”

The tear-jerking moment received millions of views when it was posted to YouTube last year.

Ledbetter told the Huffington Post that he proposed because he didn’t want Maddie to see pictures of the ring he got for Paige and feel left out. “So I actually got Maddie a ring as well, along with a necklace and earrings,” he said. 

In the video, Ledbetter explains to 5-year-old Maddie that he just proposed to her mother and they are officially engaged. Maddie jumps for joy, and is unaware that her future step-dad has a special surprise for her. 

Calling Maddie back to him, he proposes and takes out a mini ring fit just for her. Her reaction was so special, and she immediately hugged her step-dad.

Man Asks Future Stepchild If She’d Like To Be His Daughter In Adorable Proposal is an article from: LifeDaily

It was International Women’s Day and a furious wife was not too happy that her husband forgot to get her flowers to mark the occasion, and then refused to help her with housework. 

To make matters worse, her husband, Ionel Popa, 39, had been given a bottle of wine for a day’s work instead of getting paid, and he arrived home drunk. Marinela Benea, 40, was furious, and she grabbed hold of her husband’s testicles and pulled violently. 

Popa was immediately rushed to the husband, and his left testicle hanging out of his scrotum after the skin was ripped apart. 

A paramedic on the scene said,

“The man had a severe open wound on his scrotum,” and he was forced to undergo emergency surgery to repair the damage. 

Following the incident, Benea said she did not know her own strength, adding that her husband deserved what happened to him. She said, “When [Lionel] gets drunk, he changes. All night he made me keep the fire on because he was cold and I did it to avoid having an argument. In the morning I opened the curtains and told him to go out and do some work, or at least help with the household chores but he shouted that I’m not entitled to give him orders.”

According to reports, the couple has been together for 15 years, and they have a 15-year-old son together. 

The husband remains in stable condition.

That’s why an Air France passenger says he knew something strange was going on when he noticed a woman’s carry-on bag was moving on its own on a flight from Istanbul to Paris. A man told Planet.fr “The bag belonged to a woman sat near the back of the plane” and “At one point she wanted to open it and her neighbour on the other row of seats saw there was something hidden in the interior.”

Agence-France Presse (AFP) stated on Thursday that “the child, a girl, was travelling with a woman who was in the process of adopting the child from Haiti.” Apparently the woman wasn’t allowed to board a flight with the little girl and bought a new ticket before hiding her in her luggage.

Meet Johanna Quass. She was born and raised in Germany and spent most of her life as a gymnastics coach. Now, 91, Johanna still specializes in parallel bars, which is one of the hardest routines for a gymnast to perform. 

It takes an incredible amount of upper body strength, and for an 86-year-old woman to attack the bar like she has, is pretty special. 

Johanna’s clips were posted to YouTube in 2012, and since then they have received almost 3.8 million views!

That’s why it’s no surprise why the following sweet story has quickly been going viral all over the internet. Brandy Yearous, AKA “Super Mom” wrote the following article for TODAY Parenting Team, in which she talks about a very special birthday tradition for her children.

“As time passes, every year we are shocked at how much our babies have grown.” the mother wrote. “We see them every single day, obviously, but it is always fun to go back and see where the changes were.”

So Brandy decided to take photos of her kids every year wearing the same piece of clothing, so they could hopefully grow into them someday.

For her son, she decided to go with her husband’s blue jeans:

But for her daughter, Brandy wanted something a bit closer to her heart.

“I chose my wedding dress for a lot reasons. One, because I want to get more than one day’s use out of it!”

“Two, I really think she’s going to want her own dress when she gets married, so what a wonderful way to celebrate my own marriage than to pass a tradition down to my only daughter.

“Three, I think it will be a great memento to show at her wedding someday.”

Mom Documents Daughter’s Growth By Taking Photos In Her Wedding Dress Every Year is an article from: LifeDaily

When you’re sick with cancer, there really is no “silver lining”.

Anyway you look at it, the disease is the absolute worst. It’s scary, painful, confusing, and heartbreaking. However, one thing a lot of terminal cancer patients worry about more than anything else is the loved ones they will be forced to leave behind.

That’s exactly why one woman’s heartbreaking Facebook post about her beloved pets has quickly gone viral online. Kathleen Zuidema of Friday Harbor, Washington has never been a smoker, but cancer attacked her lungs anyway…and then it spread to the rest of her body.

Although she will receive chemotherapy, Fox Q13 reports that she will likely only live for a few more months. Zuidema wrote on Facebook “This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do,” but she was not referring to her painful treatment.

“They are a package deal. It is a huge thing to ask of one person but the thought of them being separated is more than l can bear,” Zuidema wrote in the post that was shared more than 25,000 times in just a few days.

Thankfully, USA Today has reported that the outpouring of support led to countless people inquiring about adopting the dogs…and to help Zuidema pay for her treatment through this GoFundMe page.

Here’s proof that baby elephants need love just as much as any other little one!

Jono Du Preez was visiting an elephant sanctuary in Northern Thailand when he met a playful baby elephant. Unaware of his own size, the adorable elephant was desperate to cuddle with Preez, and continuously knocked him over trying to get the perfect snuggle.

Preez could not resist a cuddle from this little guy, who easily weighed a couple hundred pounds!

According to Preez’s Facebook he is a missionary who travels all over the world. He says he enjoys going to this particular sanctuary because they rescue elephants from humans who mistreated them, and they are given a second chance at life at a real life.

Rescued Baby Elephant Falls In Love With A Human is an article from: LifeDaily

Now, this is something we (thankfully) don’t see every day!

A gigantic rat was discovered in a children’s play area on a housing estate in East London. Gas engineer Tony Smith spotted the monster rat while working near Hackney Downs, and described the rodent as “the largest rat I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

Smith told the standard.co.uk:

“We were going to stick it in the bin, but before we did we thought we better take a picture because people won’t believe it’s real.”

The rat was found dead and pest controllers believed it to be a cane rat, a type of giant rodent normally found in Africa.

“I’ve got a cat and a Jack Russell and it was bigger than both of those put together,” Smith said. 

People have reacted to the image with a mixture of “glee and disgust.”

Although the 19-year-old may not be walking down the aisle herself anytime soon, the beautiful photos, which were arranged by the owners of Virginia-based wedding venue Rixey Manor, have given great hope to other disabled men and women.

Not to mention a much-needed diversification in both the modeling and wedding industries!

Model With Down Syndrome Breaks Barriers In A Beautiful Wedding-Themed Photoshoot is an article from: LifeDaily

In 2011, Joao Pereira de Souza, a 71-year-old man from Brazil found an injured penguin soaked in oil laying on a Brazilian beach.  

Joao says that the penguin was struggling to survive so he cleaned him off, and fed him sardines before bringing him back to the water. 

The man expected the penguin to swim off, but amazingly, he refused to leave his side.

And so their friendship began and has surprisingly lasted all of these years. 

In February, Jingling the Magellanic penguin leaves for the cooler climates 2,000 miles away, but he always returns to Joao’s seaside shanty come June. 

For four years, the two unlikely friends spend 8 months out of the year together, and they stroll along the beach and swim in the ocean. 

Locals say that the penguin is like a son to Joao.

Magellanic penguins are classified as a “threatened species,” primarily because they are so vulnerable to oil spills. These spills kill approximately 20,000 adults and 22,000 juvenile penguins each year. 

We are thankful that Joao was able to save at least one of these penguins, and we hope they continue to have a beautiful friendship.

Penguin Swims 5,000 Miles Every Year To Visit His Rescuer is an article from: LifeDaily

When Hope For Paws received an urgent call for help from Lucky Puppy Rescue, volunteers didn’t hesitate to help save lives.

They learned that the mother of five puppies living on the streets had gone missing two weeks earlier, and five puppies were left to fend for themselves. Luckily, a kind woman that lived nearby fed the puppies while searching for help.

When the Hope For Paws heroes arrived, the puppies hid in thick ivy and vines, making it really difficult for them to be rescued. 

But volunteers were determined and found creative ways to lure the puppies in- like by feeding them hamburgers. 

One by one, they pulled each scared puppy out of the vines. 

After they got the first two, however, the remaining three puppies moved deeper into the brush, making it more difficult to get them.  

But volunteers would not give up.

When the final puppy was rescued, there was a sigh of relief, and the scared but hopeful pups made their way to Lucky Puppy to receive warm baths and medical treatment.
