World’s Most Disciplined Dog Refuses To Give In To Cookie Temptation

finn

This family taught their dog Finn from early on that he wasn’t allowed to eat from the table.

This rule stuck with him, and the self-control that he has acquired over the years is incredible.

One day when the family was enjoying a meal, they decided to test their very well-behaved dog. They placed a cookie on the edge of the table right where Finn could see it, and patiently waited to see what he would do.

In the funny video below, Finn refuses to give in and eat the cookie until he has permission to do so. Mom even pulls the table closer to Finn to tempt him, but the obedient dog remains disciplined and waits for his golden opportunity.

Though he is seen struggling trying to maintain control, Finn is victorious in the end and gets to eat that delicious cookie.

Delivery room doctors must prepare themselves for just about anything when it comes to a woman in labor, but up until recently there was one thing that the staff of a New York City hospital had never seen…

Twenty-seven-year-old Alaha Majid just gave birth to her first child, daughter Sofia Alaya Karimi, on February 15, 2016, but although her baby was normal and healthy, Alaha’s story went viral for a pretty unbelievable reason.

While some women turn to drugs, music, loved ones, or natural remedies to help ease the pain of childbirth, Alaha, a professional make-up artist, decided to take her mind off the baby by applying a full face of product.

We would like to take a second to welcome our precious angel, Sofia Alaya Karimi, into the world. Baby Sofia was born two nights ago, on February 15, 2016 at 6:19pm weighing 8lbs 13oz and a height of 21.5 inches. Mash'allah! Both of us are doing well Alhamdullilah. She has only been a part of our lives for two days and I can't even remember what life was like before her. She has changed our lives in ways we never thought were possible and has given us the most beautiful outlook on life. How could a little human who we have only known for 48 hours, have so much impact on our lives? Both hubby and I are so in love with her that we stare at her for hours as our hearts fill with joy, and our eyes fill with tears trying to understand how we became so lucky to be chosen as her parents. Subhanallah, Mash'allah, Alhamdullilah, times a million for everything God has blessed us with! I know many people are asking for pics, and I'm sorry but her father and I have decided to keep her beautiful face private for some time to keep her all to ourselves a little while longer and keep her away from evil eyes or Nazar (it's a cultural/religious thing and I hope you all understand). Family and friends are more than welcome to reach out and come visit once we are settled in and well-adjusted. Thank you to all those who sent flowers, texts, emails, calls, etc. I haven't been able to get back to everyone individually but I will as soon as I can. Now many of you are probably wondering about this picture, LOL! It was taken the minute she was first handed to me after I delivered her, look at her little head in my palm. Yes, I went full glam lol and I'll post more pics later of me doing my makeup DURING Labor and pausing for the severe contractions lol. And yes, I wore my @hudabeauty @shophudabeauty mink lashes in "SOPHIA" since it was appropriate lol. I had a natural birth alhamdullilah so it was tough, but I'm lucky enough to have been able to experience it firsthand and am so grateful. I prayed for all of the women who are trying to conceive to get to experience this beautiful feeling as well inshallah! Again, thank you all for the sweet messages, wishes, and love! God bless!

Alan posted this years St. Patrick’s Day photos on his website, That Dad Blog, and they show Rockwell dressed in a little green suit, green and black top hat, orange beard and green and white tights.

Lawrence told Abc News that one of the more difficult parts of the shoot for Rockwell was getting used to that beard.

“He drools a lot because he’s started to teeth, but I think that was the most frustrating thing for him because [the beard would] get in his mouth. At one point he’d get frustrated with that so we had to constantly push it down,” Lawrence explained.

Lawrence said he will be posting new photos of Rockwell as a leprechaun until March 17.

California Woman Suffered A Rare Stroke After A Routine Trip To The Beauty Salon

In the barbershop

Before you cancel your next hair appointment, bear in mind this is EXTREMELY rare, but nevertheless, it can still be fatal…

Elizabeth Smith is a 48-year-old California woman who is now suing San Diego salon Blowbunny: Blow Dry & Hair Extension Bar. Getting her hair washed by them nearly killed her.

In January 2014, Smith received a routine treatment, consisting of having her hair washed, conditioned, cut, and blown. However, 8 days after leaving the salon, she began having health issues.

“I had weakness in my left arm and leg,” Smith told BuzzFeed. “I just didn’t feel right. I was standing up to point, and I couldn’t stand.”

[Credit: CBS News]
[Credit: CBS News]
Smith finally went to the doctor and learned she had suffered a stroke. An artery in Smith’s neck had been damaged by leaning back in the beauty parlor’s shampoo chair and sink.

But is a salon-induced stroke medically plausible?

You may not believe, but this kind of thing is totally possible and while it doesn’t happen often, it can happen to you. The condition has even happened enough to warrant a nickname: Beauty Parlor Stroke Syndrome.

Doctors say it can happen when necks are hyper-extended.

“When a patient is leaning their head back, you could possibly tear or irritate these posterior circulation or have these kind of strokes, ” neurologist Dr. Clifford Segil told CBS Philly.

Watch CBS report on the rare condition that affected this California woman:

While we wouldn’t advise you to never make a hair appointment again, it’s good to be aware of these kinds of health concerns.

Make sure others are aware – SHARE this video with somebody who frequently gets their hair done too.

Here’s some undeniable proof that you should always trust your gut – even when it may not make sense at the time!

As you can see in this video, store security cameras can catch some pretty crazy things on video, but the following clip has gone viral over the past couple of days, because the woman behind the counter is a true hero.

A Colorado store clerk decided to trust herself and get in the middle of a woman and her baby when the situation just didn’t seem right. Rebecca Montano of the Alta Convenience was behind the cash register when a woman came in and started to seem completely out of it.

Montano said “I was talking to the baby and she — the girl — had a glazed look on her face.”

I wasn’t sure, I felt uneasy about it. I was asking her ‘is everything ok,’ I grabbed the baby’s arm and she started to sway, she wouldn’t answer me. She was just lost in space, so I thought I better take the baby, something doesn’t feel right.”

That’s when things got truly scary and the young woman fell to the ground, beginning to have a seizure. Montano, who grabbed the baby just before she would have fallen to the ground, quickly dialed 911.

“I think being a mother, being a grandmother, my first instinct was the baby,” Montano told KENS5. “I just wanted to save the baby from getting hurt, if she would’ve fallen with the baby in her arms, who knows where that baby would’ve landed?”

Even though Montano says she is no hero, the proof is right there on camera in the security tape below.

We love hearing touching stories about regular people going above and beyond to help soldiers and veterans in need.

Although this soldier story starts out a little differently than most do, we guarantee the ending will put a big smile on your face! Rob Anderson is a magician, mentalist and YouTuber extraordinaire, but he’s also a big supporter of our veterans.

When Anderson heard about a homeless U.S. Army veteran on the streets of his hometown of Las Vegas, whose goal was just to make people smile, regardless of getting any money out of them, he knew he had to do something to help.

In the following video, Anderson walks up to the veteran, Alan McKracken, who holds a sign that says “Homeless trying to get by. Anything helps. God bless,” and takes his words a little too literally. At first, Anderson did the opposite of making the homeless vet smile, he almost teased him by drawing dollar signs on the sign and then tearing it apart.

However, even though McKracken was able to foresee the amazing ending, even he couldn’t believe what Anderson did next.

Please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook to make someone smile today!

When a young child’s life was in danger, this police officer had to think fast to save him.

While the details are uncertain, the incident allegedly took place in Mexico, where a female police officer is seen performing CPR to a child in a vehicle.

Onlookers stood outside the car and seemed nervous as to if the child would be able to be saved. The woman stood over the very small child using her hands to push on his chest, and hoping she can get air to his lungs. Moments later, she performs mouth to mouth on the young boy, and almost immediately he was able to breathe again.

We’re not sure how long the entire incident was, or what led the child to be in this state, but we are truly happy that he was saved by this incredible police officer. She is truly a hero!

This Waitress Donated A Kidney So A Customer Could Take Another Shot At Life

Donating a kidney to a friend or family member is a HUGE sacrifice, but what about donating to somebody you barely know?

That’s exactly what Mariana Villareal of Roswell, Georgia did for customer Donald Thomas. Villareal worked at a local Hooters and Thomas was a customer at the establishment for many years. However, after knowing the man for only about three months and hearing about Thomas’s condition, Villareal decided to give him a kidney.

“I said, ‘Well I have two kidneys, do you want one of mine?'”

With that simple exchange and a lot of deep thinking, the two decided to move forward and undergo the surgery.

[Credit: Atlanta 11]
[Credit: Atlanta 11]
Thomas is a Vietnam War veteran and father who lost his wife to breast cancer a few years ago. Villareal lost her own grandmother to kidney failure. Unable to help her beloved grandmother, the waitress had wanted to pay it forward to Thomas.

Today is the big day after 2 years of constant doctor visits my favorite hooters guest will finally get a chance at a normal life again. This is Donald Thomas or as all the girls at hooters know him "The DON!" He's been going to Roswell hooters for more than 10 years. He's a Vietnam war veteran, father of 2, His wife past away from breast cancer and a few years later he got kidney failure. After 3 months of working there and knowing him God answered my prayer but most important answered his prayer of years! I've been praying for God to answer me if donating one of my kidneys was the right thing to do and The Don was praying for a donor that may have never appeared. He sent me to this world to serve him and others and as a daughter of God I offered him one of my kidneys. Many people think I'm crazy because of the age difference but then again age is just a number, it's how young your heart is and your desire to live. Around the same time I met him my grandmother was going through something similar but I wasn't able to help her and it will forever be in my heart. My higher calling maybe wasn't for my grandma but for a complete stranger. NO he's not paying me for a kidney or tips me really good, just to clarify ! He's just an ordinary person with the desire to live a few more years. If he can live 2 more year the happiest he's ever been without having to sit in a room 3 times a week filtering his blood for 8 hours and finally have a full glass of water or finally get to pee again then go ahead take my kidney. I know God will give him way more years to come. All I ask is for prayers and for all of you to be thankful that you're healthy and alive because some people do have it worst! #godisgood

This following video was filmed before the surgery, and since then, all has gone well with these two. Both are alive, well, and living life to the fullest:

Would you donate a kidney to somebody you barely know? It takes a lot to do something as selfless as this. Tell us your thoughts and if you were inspired by Mariana’s actions, and don’t forget to inspire others by SHARING this heartfelt story.

We love covering small living spaces here at Life Daily. Perhaps you’ve read about people who make their own tiny homes like the man who was laid off and then decided to roam the country in this school bus.

These kinds of people are incredible, but what about those of us who can’t quit our jobs or build a home from scratch? That’s where Kasita comes in.

WWII Refugees Send Heartfelt Messages Of Hope To Syrian Children

Sometimes, in the darkest of times, you can still find a little bit of light.

You and I will probably never know the life of a refugee. Most of us have a place to call home and more have a land to call ours. But for some in our world, they have no land to call home. They had to flee their country or face the possibility of death. The tragedy that is the Syrian Refugee Crisis has left more than 4 million refugees displaced around the world.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happen either. During World War II, thousand of people had to flee their homes and find sanctuary in other countries. Some of those who fled in 1945 are now paying it forward to current refugees.

They’ve taken up pens and used their words to send a message of hope to those struggling in Jordan and surrounding areas:

WWII refugees have collaborated with CARE.org to write these heartfelt letters and tell current refugees to keep going strong. While the writing is inspiring, its hard to watch the video without finding tears trickling from the corners of your eyes.

“I know it is always difficult to adjust in a different country. I feel very deeply for you,” writes 87-year-old Helga Kissell.

She and other refugees know how hard it is to flee and then adapt to a new life. However, the letters and care packages being sent have lifted the spirits of those who received them. A few more children are a little happier thanks to these gifts.

And it’s not just former refugees that are sending these inspiring messages. Anybody can donate and anybody can inspire.

In an attempt to raise money and awareness for special needs, the the Pediatric Down Syndrome Clinic at Phoenix Children’s Hospital is holding a fashion show that shows off some of the cutest models we’ve ever seen.

While searching for a St. Patrick’s Day outfit, Laura Hardy found much more than she bargained for at this consignment shop.

Somehow a soldier’s Purple Heart, the highest medal a serviceman can receive, ended up on a table for just $4.99.

[Credit: Fox 5]
[Credit: Fox 5]
Laura Hardy was shocked when she saw that it had been dubbed “purple jewelry” by the employees and carelessly thrown in a bargain bin. The medal must have slipped through without anybody realizing its significance.

“This is one of the highest military honors you could get. This is something the family will cherish for a lifetime,” Hardy told ABC 15.

Unsure of what to do next, Hardy had just one clue and the semblance of an idea. Engraved on the medal was the name Eual H. Whiteman, exactly the information she needed to begin her search.

She then took to Facebook and within days, the family of the rightful owner was found:

As of now, the post has been shared more than 93,000 times and was safely returned to relatives.

But how did such a treasure end up there?

It’s incredible how connected we all are. I can’t believe they found the owner within days. If you find this story as amazing as we did, please SHARE with a veteran or service member in your life.

A Dad Flew His 2-Year-Old Daughter To Far-Off Places, But Discovered Something In His Heart

Stefen Chow is a Dad from Beijing who has a small daughter and a big appetite for adventure.

When an adventure presented itself to Chow, he seized it before it passed him by. The opportunity: traveling to Taiwan with his 2-year-old daughter for eight days over Christmas.

For those of you who have known the stress of traveling with kids, you are already familiar with the challenge this Dad was taking on. However, despite its expected setbacks, Chow said it was an experience that changed her world and his too.

Chow writes in the original article:

When I first mentioned this trip to my friends and family, the first questions (and assumptions) I got were “How will she get her afternoon nap?” “The child needs her mother!” “This is not normal routine for her; she can do it when she is much older!” I suppose these are valid reasons, but we also find ourselves living in an increasingly protected world where everything from forks to table edges to flooring has been designed for child safety and marketed to the fears of parents. The problem is that we need to take a little leap of faith for interesting life experiences. (As long as there is adult supervision!)

With that leap of faith, Chow took his daughter on the somewhat unplanned trip. He didn’t make room reservations more than a day in advance, he stayed away from large cities, and he kept an open mind, allowing for the flow of spontaneity.

Keeping these criteria in mind, Chow says the experience changed him. Being in a foreign land with a language unknown to him made Chow a better communicator with his daughter. The unfamiliarity of the terrain encouraged her to discover new things, and the overall experience opened this Dad up to new ideas.

She really loves the ocean. I showed her where we were on a map, and realised if you looked straight ahead far enough, you would see the West Coast of United States of America. [Credit: Stefen Chow via Medium]

About fatherhood, Chow says:

Really. I didn’t experience the nine and a half months of having something in my stomach, and though I always acted as a cheerleader by my wife’s side, I think I felt left out of the overall experience. My daughter naturally sticks to her mum more, and her father is always a second option or a third. On a dedicated trip out there with my little one with minimal distractions, I finally had the opportunity to be a full parent.

And for the relationship it’s built with his daughter:

My daughter and I had a very healthy relationship before this, but the trip really made us appreciate each other more. Since the trip, I feel that we are able to draw common memories and experiences, and it has certainly brought us closer together. Mummy agrees, so that’s a good thing.

Stefen Chow is certainly a new kind of Dad, and he’s not the only one trying crazy adventures like this. A self-proclaimed “travel mad mum” made a similar adventure. Are these parents crazy, courageous, or both?

Woodstock

The Woodstock Festival has to go down in history as the most amazing and spectacular music event of all time. And that’s not just claimed by the 400,000 people who attended it. It was a good 45 years ago that this unprecedented event took place, which espoused the values of love, peace among man and most of all, getting high. Until the 1960s most people in America were considered to be pretty conservative. But the hippie movement of the late 60s came along and changed all that…and that all really started at Woodstock.

It may seem like a long time ago for many, but for those born in that era, as well as those who went to the festival, it feels like only yesterday. As massive crowds of mainly young people came out in their hundreds and thousands with one simple message. ‘Love peace and not war…’

Woodstock is also the event which made smoking Marijuana famous, as the police stood back and allowed the party-goers to get as high as they liked, with no fear of arrest. Woodstock goes down as the most epic rock festival to have ever taken place on earth, and these amazing, rare and vivid pictures are a testimony to that fact…

It’s important to take time out every once in a while to pamper yourself. Nobody knows this to be true better than this cat who apparently lives in the lap of luxury.

Typically, felines despise water. All cat-owners have at least one scar that proves this to be true. However, some breeds absolutely LOVE the tub.

You may remember, for example, Thula the cat who loves to hop in the bathtub with her autistic companion Iris. Thula is a Maine Coon and that’s why she’s so drawn to the water. While we can’t verify the breed of this cat, we can assume she’s not far from Thula’s family tree.

It appears this fluffy monster is another brilliant bath time buddy. Not only can she teach you how to put your feet up and soak in the suds, she will also show you how to make that nifty sheep hat she’s sporting on her tiny head.

Have you ever seen a more majestic creature with an equally regal getup?

This Puppy is proof that miracles happen everyday.

When Penny was born a year ago, the odds were stacked against her. Penny was born to an inexperienced mother who had been bred too soon. She was the only pup in the litter to survive for four days and many were unsure she would make it further.

Then, a hero named Candice swooped in to save Penny’s day:

Her new foster parent had raised dogs before and knew what Penny needed. She took Penny home with her and made sure the dog would be nursed to health and have a full life.

Penny was so fragile she had to be bottle fed and burped during those first few weeks:

Candice made a lot of sacrifices and took on the huge commitment of raising a dog like this one, but it paid off. Little by little, the pup grew bigger. As the weeks went by, Penny kept putting on the pounds and Candice watched her dog grow.

Now, Penny just celebrated her first birthday, a huge accomplishment for a dog who had the odds stacked so strongly against her.

And Candice made sure Penny was properly rewarded for getting this far in life:

Penny’s made it past a huge hump in life and hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out. If you find Penny inspiring, please SHARE with an animal lover in your life.

Bernie Sanders

When it comes to politics, most thinking people are fairly aware that it’s all about power, money, and often ego. That being said, it also sometimes has plenty to do with ideology, and Bernie Sanders is certainly one such example. Being that Bernie is old, 74 years old, he has been around the block, more than once. In that respect he certainly has a lot more experience in life than his rival for the Democratic Party nomination, Hillary Clinton.

However, Bernie, like all politicians, often says one thing and does another, and has been embroiled in a number of scandals during the Obama administration and before it. Not a fraction on Hillary, but still. If he wins the nomination, it looks like it’ll be a Bernie Vs. Donald race to the White House, so we thought it was high-time we shared some fascinating Bernie Saunders facts, some of which are bound to blow your mind…

The building, which is located in Rotterdam, is mostly made of wood and glass, which is not terribly out of the ordinary for a house.

However, this one also sports an edible roof, rain tanks, and a way for the family to grow fruits and vegetables in the comfort of their own home.

The Scholtens can then use these crops in the greenhouse’s kitchen and can also utilize the large space to grow a diverse amount of plants.

This soup kitchen is shaking things up!

Eating at a soup kitchen is a humbling, undignified experience for many of the people who find themselves there too frequently.

However, the Kansas City Community Kitchen in Kansas City, Missouri, is looking to change the stigma of the soup kitchen. They serve their meals restaurant-style so the homeless patrons can be waited on and receive their food with a side of respect.

The Kansas City Community Kitchen has been serving the community for 30 years, according to its website, but on Feb. 5, it re-opened with its new restaurant-style initiative that allows the homeless to “dine with dignity.”

And the meals look fantastic:

Those who choose to dine with the Kansas City Community Kitchen have a variety of options to choose from. Two weeks ago, a hearty steak and potatoes was on the menu:

With this style of service, diners receive dignity and respect, two virtues that go a long way with somebody who’s suffering. Watch the video below to hear the kitchen’s outlook on charity and why they’re changing the style of soup kitchens:
