Baseball might be the Great American Pastime, but it’s also been called the Most Boring American Pastime (in my humble opinion). However, one husband just made the sport a little more interesting.

Dennis and Louise Pollock were at a Phillies game, enjoying the action (or lack thereof), when a foul ball nearly destroyed the day.

One of the players whacked the ball out-of-bounds an into the direction of the fans. Louise saw it coming straight at her and she couldn’t quite get out of the way fast enough.

So, what her knight in shining armor do?

He simply reached for the ball and yanked it from its flight with his bare hand, saving her from what could potentially be a very serious injury.

5-year-old Brayden struggles to get out of bed each morning because walking is such a burden, but that doesn’t mean she can’t dance on occasion.

With help from a nurse, the child danced this weekend with actor Alfonso Ribiero, who himself is known for his sick dance moves. You may remember him from the 90s when he made Tom Jones’ hit song “It’s Not Unusual” the most recognizable song of that decade. Ribiero played Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and more recently has appeared on Dancing With The Stars.

Ribiero was in the area to play in the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament Wednesday when he stopped in to visit patients at the Shriner’s Hospital.

Five-year-old Brayden challenged the “Dancing with the Stars” champion to a tap dance-off during his visit.

Brayden was diagnosed at birth with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC), a disorder that affects joint development in newborns. As a result, patients with AMC suffer from muscle weakness and joint stiffness.

Ribiero accepted her dance challenge and, from the looks of it, both he and Brayden were winners here. Hospital officials said Ribiero spent about an hour meeting with patients and had a wonderful visit.

Brayden lives with her grandparents, who work to give her everything she needs. But family said the cost of her custom wheelchair and medical visits are expensive, so a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds to support Brayden. To contribute to Brayden’s medical costs, click here.

5-Year-Old With Rare Disease Challenges Celebrity To Dance With Her is an article from: LifeDaily

If your thesis project wins more than 50 awards, does that mean you get an A in the class?

That’s what happened with ‘The Present,’ an award-winning animated short about a boy and his dog based on a comic strip by Fabio Coala, and directed by Jacob Frey.

The animated short comes from the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany and is breaking hearts everywhere. If you can get through this clip without crying, you might be a robot.

The simple story follows a rude boy who sits on the couch playing video games. His Mom walks in the door carrying a box, but he ignores her as he goes about his game. It’s an opening we can all relate to:

Rather than taking pity on the creature, the child is annoyed and dismisses it while he turns his attention back toward his video games:

What happens next will leave you in tears. It’s as sad as it is heartwarming and I can’t stop smiling.

Internet Falls In Love With An Animated Short About A Boy And His Dog is an article from: LifeDaily

Last year, a 32-year-old woman walked into the maternity ward of a Romanian hospital to give birth to three baby girls. Hours later, she bolted, leaving her three newborn children behind.

Now, before you jump to condemn her, know there are a few other factors at play here. The woman, who is already a mother of three, came forward shortly after and spoke about why she gave up her children in such a hasty manner.

Her name is Jeaneta Bente, and she abandoned newborns Alexandra, Isabela and Cristina in a maternity ward of a hospital in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. She left them behind because she simply did not have enough money to support them.

After the story made national headlines, Jeaneta was tracked down and eventually came forward to sign the official adoption papers. Note however, that rather than signing any papers, Jeaneta had to mark them with her thumb print. This is because she is illiterate and never learned to read.

Speaking to local media, Jeaneta said: “I hope people can understand that I just don’t have any possibility to feed or care for them, but I wish them the best and hope they have a better life than I can give them.”

Jeaneta is currently living with her family in this ramshackle house where she struggles daily to put food on the table:

It’s likely the triplets will now go to a children’s home, where they’ll stay until a suitable foster family is found. This isn’t the first case of children being abandoned like this.

That same Romanian hospital saw 25 other cases of mothers abandoning their children in 2015.

The poverty crisis there is substantial and there is simply not enough to go around.

A kitten, now appropriately named Kia, has been rescued from a bizarre place.

The tiny tabby managed to wrestle his way inside the engine compartment of a Kia, which he refused to remove himself from for three whole days.

When the owners finally called firefighter Brittany Bishop to seek help, Bishop wasn’t sure how to respond.

“We were like, ‘Did you hit the cat and it got stuck?’” said Bishop. “He said, ‘No he’s in our wheel well and we can’t get him out.'”

Faced with no other option, the couple had to get in the car and drive 6 miles to seek help from the fire department. By the grace of God, the kitten managed to survive the journey, still refusing to remove itself from the engine compartment. That poor animal must have been so frightened.

Upon arriving at the fire station, Bishop still struggled to get the kitten out.”He ran, but he didn’t run out of the car,” said Bishop with a giggle. “He just ran to the front of the car, then he would run to the back of the car and the other side of the car, I didn’t know there was that much room, but he found it.”

Then, FINALLY, the kitten coaxed itself out of its hovel and found better footing.

We’re so grateful this lucky guy found a better place to call home than a Kia. He has since been dubbed Kia, but we have a feeling he’ll be avoiding cars for a long time. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I have a feeling Nicole Bennet will consider these photos priceless.

The mother of two from Mississippi lost her husband Deonta two months before her due date. However, she still found a way to incorporate her whole family in her maternity photos. 4-year-old son Landen AND her late husband were both present in the photos and it’s as emotional as you would expect.

Nicole says she hopes the photos will remind her family of the wonderful man they lost.

“I wanted to do something special because he’s been there for my son since day one,” Nicole said in an interview with ABC News.

“It’s memories for my son of his father and for my daughter who will never meet her father, it’s memories for her as well.”

Nicole, of Jackson, Mississippi, told photographer Sidney Conley of the idea while they made arrangements in late February. Nicole gave birth to her daughter on March 25. of the idea and they shot the photographs late February.

Conley said the idea brought tears to his eyes, as did editing the photos.

‘Just how I edited [the photos] with him looking down on them, it’s showing that he’s making sure they’re okay.’

When one Toledo, Ohio mom found out her 7-year-old little girl was getting bullied at school, she knew she couldn’t show up at school and stop the bullies herself, but she had to do something to make the situation better for her daughter Audrianna.

Mom Alexandria Reynolds was crushed when she found out her 7-year-old was being bullied at school but suspects it’s because her daughter is a tomboy and loves riding dirt bikes. To make her daughter feel less alone, she decided to reach out to a local motorcycle club called The Punishers.

Despite their tough name, The Punishers is made up of police, firefighters, EMS, and soldiers, and love helping out in the community whenever they can. To help Audrianna, they decided to give the little girl a ride to school on a motorcycle.

“We got her a vest and told her to think of us like her uncles, and she is part of our family now, and if she needs anything let us know,” the group’s president, Daniel Bushey, said. “Any chance we get, we help kids out, we do in a heartbeat.”

“We were just trying to uplift her spirits and let her know that not everybody is mean and there are plenty of nice people in the world,” Reynolds said. “The guys have really done a wonderful job at helping us.”

Any parent knows that watching after a toddler is a full-time job but they need that constant supervision to keep them out of trouble, which is why everyone was outraged when a rare gorilla was shot because a ‘neglectful’ mom didn’t keep a close enough eye on her child.

During a family trip to the Cincinnati Zoo, Michelle Gregg failed to keep a close enough watch on her 4-year-old son, who managed to climb past a rail and wires before falling about 10 feet into the gorilla exhibit without mom ever noticing.

In a video of the incident, which has gone viral, the 17-year-old, 400-pound gorilla named Harambe seemed to be protecting the child, but was becoming agitated with everyone crowding around and shouting. Ultimately, the zoo staff was forced to kill the male Western lowland silverback in order to ensure the child’s safety as a tranquilizer would have taken too long.

“The zoo’s in the business of taking care of endangered animals, and we don’t want to be in the situation in which they have to be killed,” zoo director Thayne Maynard said. “But all sorts of things could happen in a situation like that.”

Most people understood the zoo’s decision, but were quick to judge Gregg, and held her responsible for her own child being put in danger as well as Harambe’s death. Soon after the incident, however, Gregg posted to Facebook to thank God for protecting her toddler and defend her parenting skills, which only angered people more since the zoo’s staff were the only ones keeping her son safe that day.

“God protected my child until the authorities were able to get to him. My son is safe and was able to walk away with a concussion and a few scrapes… no broken bones or internal injuries,” Gregg wrote.

“As a society we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes off of their child and if anyone knows me I keep a tight watch on my kids. Accidents happen but I am thankful that the right people were in the right place today. Thank you to everyone that helped me and my son today and most importantly God for being the awesome God that He is,” Gregg said.

Zookeepers Shoot Rare Gorilla To Protect ‘Neglectful’ Mom’s Son is an article from: LifeDaily

Good moms put their children’s needs ahead of their own every single day, but what one mom refused to do in order to take care of her baby after a car crash left nurses and doctors in total awe.

New Zealand mom Danni Bett had been driving around Christchurch with her 2-month-old newborn Indi in the backseat when she lost control of car and totaled it after crashing into a metal fence. Bett was placed in a neck brace when first responders arrived, but all she could think of was her baby.

“All I could say was, ‘Get my baby out, she’s in the car, get my baby.’ I was in so much shock,” Bett said of the traumatic experience, which her daughter managed to sleep through.

Bett and her newborn were taken straight to the hospital, and despite the intense shooting pain down her neck, back, and hips, she refused pain medication while doctors did tests to see the extent of her injuries.

Bett knew that if she had painkillers she wouldn’t be able breastfeed Indi, so she refused them for four long hours of painful testing. When she was finally taken back to her room and reunited with her daughter, she convinced nurses to let her breastfeed. “It was instant relief,” she said.

“I wanted her, I wanted to calm her. After a traumatic day as it is, to give her that (a bottle) would not be right. (Breastfeeding) is the best for her and I had that,” Bett said.

Mom Refuses Painkillers After Car Crash To Breastfeed Baby is an article from: LifeDaily

While elephants are known to be one of the most intelligent creatures in the animal kingdom, not even mom’s smarts could save her baby after the calf fell into an open, concrete drain.

Wild animals like elephants often walk the streets of Hambantota in Sri Lanka without any issue, but while walking with mom this past Sunday, a baby elephant managed to slip into a shallow but narrow drain that had been uncovered.

The terrified baby called out for mom’s help, but there was nothing mom could do to help free her baby. Thankfully, people from the town heard the baby’s desperate calls and went to help.

With the help of a group of men from the town, a wildlife rescue team knocked out the narrow walls, tied ropes around the baby’s front legs, and carefully pulled it from the drain.

After being rescued, the heroes thought the baby might have a broken leg, so they immediately took it to be checked out by doctors.
