A mother moose in Australia could not wait to give birth to her baby, that she delivered it in Lowe’s parking lot.

Katherine Warren told Ktva Alaska that she alerted security to the newborn and its mother when she saw them while leaving Lowes on Tuesday. Lowe’s security and staff at Tikahtnu Commons created a safe zone around the moose, and even blocked off a section of the store-front driving area. Warren said:

“Seeing the way she’s been acting — not so much angry, but you can tell she’s just kind of like a little scared and timid and doesn’t know what to think of everything, because everybody has been showing up around the area,” she said, explaining the protective barrier. “It is exciting, it’s a new life, you know, so it’s very exciting, but at the other end, she needs her privacy.”

Shoppers watched the mother and baby for hours, and one mother even used it as an opportunity to create a touching moment for her two sons.

“It’s amazing to think, like, that is a baby moose, it was probably just born. It looks pretty big, but then think how small that looks in comparison to how big they really get,” she whispered to one of her boys as they watched.

Police in Anchorage contacted the Alaska Department of Fire and Game about the pair, and the staff were ready on standby to assist Lowe’s security if necessary. Eventually, the mother and newborn wandered off through the parking lot, stopping every few minutes to rest.

If I ever get married, and if my husband ever has temporary amnesia, I want him to have the EXACT same reaction as the man in the following video.

The unknown man is married to a beautiful woman named Candice, according to Facebook. When he had to go under the knife, Candice was there with him through it all. Afterwards, Candice fed him crackers as he slowly roused from his anesthetized state.

However, what he started saying amidst those crackers was gold. She had to pull out the camera.

“Are you a model” he questions as she laughs off camera. “You could be the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen,” he goes on.

This charming husband wasn’t aware of just how many brownie points he was gaining, but he is now. The video of his foggy yet affectionate profession of love has been viewed more than 7 million times on Facebook.

Now this a man worth bragging about. Take a look at the charmer below and make sure you SHARE this man’s love with the world!

It’s been said if you want to live a happy life, lower your standards.

Those who demand the five-star treatment will be dissatisfied with anything four stars and below. Those who will ONLY travel to luxuries hotels find themselves disappointed with the quirks that make a foreign land worth seeing. And those who require a mansion will find themselves paying a high price tag for a place they don’t have the time to enjoy.

Instead, those who learn to lower their standards will find themselves impressed with anything mildly mediocre. These are the ones who live life to the fullest. They’re the few who have learned to trim that fat and find joy in the little things.

Take, for instance, the Canadian man who took his life off the grid when he turned an old shipping container into his new dream home.

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]
Joseph Dupuis had grand plans for how he could transform his life. But these plans didn’t come easy. For three years, Dupuis spent an hour a day working on what would become his future home. He knew he wanted to transform shipping containers and he knew he could do most of the work himself, but finding the time and money while juggling a job proved to be a challenge for this visionary man.

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]
Slowly, but surely, he found the time, and when he took the plunge, it paid off. Dupuis bought three containers for $3,400 Canadian dollars. Then he spent three months working on his new home for roughly 12 hours a day. By the end of the summer, Dupuis had an inexpensive home and debt free life.

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]
At 355 square feet, this home comes insulated with heat — necessary for those Canadian winters — and a cooling system. The shipping container home is also outfitted with solar panels, a wood stove, full kitchen, and shower, with room for a “future” toilet (right now, the cabin only has an outhouse).

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]

For critics that complain about the cabin’s lack of a toilet, Dupuis says it’s due to a legal issue. “If you dig for septic, the home becomes a dwelling,” he told The Huffington Post. “I wanted the whole point of the cabin to be that you can break it down and move it whenever you need to.”

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]
Now, Dupuis is selling his home and moving toward other pursuits. He’s skyrocketed to minor internet celebrity since news outlets caught on to his genius idea and Dupuit says he wants to turn the unexpected media attention into a business.
[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]

“I want to help as many people as I can get out of the pocket of big banks and make people more self-sufficient,” he told HuffPost. “I see my friends buying $400,000 houses and they’re in debt for the next 35 years. It’s pretty backwards — we don’t need these expensive homes and all this stuff we have in our lives.”

It’s true. The more clutter we have around us, the more confined we are. We become stuck because shedding the stuff is too much work.

Instead, people like Dupuis seek to free themselves from materialism and live a life in which they acquire more and require less.

[Joseph Dupuis]
[Joseph Dupuis]
If you like Dupuis’s philosophy, please SHARE it with friends and family on Facebook. Changing the world doesn’t happen overnight, but if more of us are aware of the unnecessary clutter, more of us can do something about it.

Injured Elephant Waits Outside For The Vet After Being Shot By Poachers

Wild animals are usually very timid around people, especially ones who have been injured at the hands of humans, which is why the staff at one safari lodge knew there must be something seriously wrong when a huge elephant showed up at their front door.

When a 30-year-old male bull elephant named Ben showed up at the Bumi Hills Safari Lodge in Kariba, Zimbabwe, the staff was startled at first at how close the massive animal was to the lodge, but then realized something was wrong with him.

Ben appeared to be in a lot of pain, was struggling to walk, and had bullet holes in his ear, however, the staff had no way of helping him since their vet was away for the weekend.

Staff members started spreading the word about Ben, and incredibly, a vet almost 200 miles away agreed to fly to the lodge to treat the animal, who patiently waited for six hours until help arrived.

“Logic would suggest that if an animal has an injury that considerably hampers its mobility, it would not attempt the climb and would rather stay on the level ground near water,” manager Nick Milne said of the desperate elephant who made a steep and dangerous trek to the lodge while injured to ask for help.

While Ben is still healing from his injuries, the vet managed to clean and disinfect the injuries he received from poachers who were trying to cut off his tusks for ivory, and put a tracking collar on him to track his recovery.

A cancer diagnosis is devastating for anyone young or old, but the stakes can be even higher for a parent who has children who depend on them.

Two years ago, Virginia mom Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant with his sixth child, and on top of fearing for her own life, she was afraid of what might happen to her children if she died. To give her best friend some relief, Stephanie Culley offered to take in her children if it ever came to that.

After a long fight with the disease, there was nothing more doctors could do after the cancer spread to her brain. “About a week after she was admitted into the hospital, and the doctor called me, I was at work, and he told me that, that it had spread to her brain, and there was nothing they could do,” Culley said tearfully.

“I had complete peace that I was going to be the mother of 9 kids,” Culley said when Beth finally died and she made good on her promise and welcomed Beth’s six kids into her home.

Doctors Find 4-Year-Old Has Cancer After Air Pressure On Plane Causes Severe Pain

Children often have trouble with changing air pressure during take-off and landing on airplanes, which is what one Maryland mom figured was causing her daughter pain on a flight to Washington.

However, 32-year-old Michelle Russell knew something else was wrong when her then four-year-old daughter Claire started complaining of back pain mid-flight that turned into a throbbing, intense pain in her ribs. The pain only got worse and worse as the flight continued, and Michelle rushed her little girl to the hospital the minute they landed.

“Claire was learning to do handstands and backflips when she first told us about a pain in her back, but we thought it was just her overdoing it. We were flying for a wedding when we knew something wasn’t right. Claire was in absolute agony,” Michelle said.

“Doctors thought she had a kidney infection and three days after being on antibiotics I found her crying in her sleep, it was then that I knew in my gut something really was wrong,” Michelle said of the moment which prompted her to push doctors for an X-ray.

“I remember seeing the technician suddenly look really frightened during her scans and knew it couldn’t be a good sign, it was horrible,” Michelle said about the X-ray, which revealed a large box-shaped tumor between two of her ribs and across to her spine.

After 17 rounds of chemotherapy, which lasted about a year and caused Clair to lose a quarter of her body weight, Doctors managed to shrink the Ewing Sarcoma mass before finally surgically removing it and shaving down some of her spinal cord in order to ensure it wouldn’t grow back.

It’s now been a year since the now six-year-old has been in remission, and Michelle knows that that flight to Washington is the reason her daughter is still here today. “Going on that plane could have saved our daughter’s life, without it we wouldn’t have thought the pain in her back was anything more than muscle or growing pains.”

Would you have rushed your child to the hospital if they were in a lot of pain on a flight? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

Scary Moment Lion Charges At Little Boy

There has been no shortage of toddler/animal videos at the zoo lately.

But, a recent video shows a 2-year-old year having a close call with a 400-pound lion at the Chiba Zoological Park in Japan.

When the toddler turned his back, the lion springs up and charges toward him, only to slam into the glass enclosure. According to Youtube, the glass display was installed in April to enable visitors to get a closer look at the lions.

“The firm glass wall held the lion inside his enclosure, surely frustrating his innate instincts. But luckily for the family, if the barrier had not held the consequences could have been catastrophic,” Adam M. Roberts, CEO of Born Free USA, told The Dodo.

Zookeepers told the local news station, News24 Japan, that the lion has a habit of frolicking when he sees small children because he wants to play with them.

Firefighters Rescue Family Of Hamsters From Burning Home

Lacey Fire Department

Firefighters had to dig through their Pet Emergency Pocket Guides when a family of hamsters were trapped in a mobile home in Lacey, Washington.

While there were no humans inside the burning structure, firefighters discovered there was a family of 5 hamsters trapped in the burning blaze. Crews grabbed the rodents- the father Oreo, the mother, Madonna, and their three tiny babies, who all were suffering from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters used their Pet Emergency Pocket Guide to treat the injured hamsters with oxygen and other first aid equipment. While all firefighters are trained to treat animals, it can be tricky to treat animals as tiny as baby hamsters.

Tim Hulse with the Lacey Fire Department used an itty-bitty oxygen mask made out of a piece of plastic tubing, to deliver oxygen to each of the tiny victims.

Four hamsters were able to be saved, while sadly one baby hamster passed away.

Hulse says that, alongside the hamsters, firefighters also found a precious document: a marriage certificate, written in crayon. “Apparently they were married … The family had made a marriage certificate for Oreo and Madonna,” Hulse told news station KTLA. “It was pretty cute.”

Have you ever seen oxygen administered to such a tiny animal?

If you see a homeless, helpless animal in need in your neighborhood, would you rush to their rescue?

Many people would want to do something to help in such a situation, but the truth is that it can be too dangerous for an untrained animal lover. That’s why we’re so grateful for the amazing heroes of rescue organizations like California-based Hope For Paws, who go above and beyond the call of duty to give stray dogs and other homeless animals a second chance at a good life.

In the following Hope For Paws clip, we see how founder Eldad Hagar and his team of heroes have their work cut out from them with Clarabelle, who was terrified to come in contact with her rescuers.

However, once they finally made her budge from her hiding spot, she was instantly on her way towards a better life. Check out this sweet dog’s amazing transformation in the video below!

In a world full of princesses, be a hot dog.

That is exactly the mentality that 5-year-old Ainsley had when she when she showed up in a hot dog costume to princess day at her dance class.

Grayson Lamontagne and Sarah Nativi are teachers at Holly Springs School of Dance where Ainsley attended, and they tweeted the original photo. Since then, Ainsley is being called a hero and people are hashtagging her photo #hotdogprincess all over social media.

Nativi told BuzzFeed: “Well, the last few weeks of dance class we let the girls dress up and this week was Princess Week, so we were expecting all of the girls to come in their princess dresses. When [Ainsley] got there everyone was so surprised but we loved it and thought it was great that she wanted to wear a hot dog costume. We all took pictures because we thought it was funny that she came to Princess Week as a hot dog,” Nativi said.

Nativi adds that Ainsley wore the costume because it was her favorite.

“She loves princesses, but she wanted to be original and wear a hot dog costume instead,” she said. “She wore a princess costume underneath it and said she was a princess on the inside!”

Lamontagne said she decided to tweet the photos because she loved how comfortable Ainsley was in her own skin.

“I wanted to share the pictures first of all because it was so innocent and cute, and also because I was so impressed with how confident a little girl could be with herself to just wear whatever she liked the best,” Lamontagne said. “Her parents and I agree that it’s a great message for young girls and they are, as I can imagine, very proud of Ainsley.”

Ashley’s dad shared on Twitter how surprised he was that his daughter had gone viral.

Ainsley wound up being invited to open the school’s spring recital on Saturday and she came dressed in her favorite costume once again.

After Two Failed Pregnancies, Mom Welcomes Baby Born Via Surrogate

For some couples, becoming ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ is a pretty straight forward and a relatively quick 9-month process. Yet for other couples, the road to becoming parents can be long and full of tragedy.

Vancouver-based Kate Austin-Rivas and her husband Didier struggled to conceive, but eventually became pregnant with baby Elle and gave birth to her healthy daughter in 2009. “It wasn’t easy to conceive our first daughter,” Austin-Rivas said. “After her, I became pregnant easily with our Katelyn who was a stillborn. We took a little time to heal and process it, and again, we became easily pregnant with Ireland who I carried to term.”

Ireland was born with severe oxygen deprivation and cerebral palsy, but didn’t survive long after birth.  “It was a catastrophic delivery with her and my life on brink,” Austin-Rivas said. “I ended up surviving and she passed away at a hospice at one month of age.”

The couple was devastated by the loss of not one but two daughters, and knew that they still wanted to be parents but couldn’t go through that pain and loss again. The two decided something had to change, and turned to surrogacy.

Austin-Rivas posted her story on social media in hopes that a willing surrogate would come forward, and after a few offers, the couple decided to accept Christine Hale’s offer. “Because of everything I’ve gone through, I realized how valuable it is to listen to your gut,” Austin-Rivas said. “She’s very responsible. She’s a single mom of three kids. Our values are very similar. She’s a very giving person, besides the connection we have.”

Christine became pregnant through IVF, and when it came time for the delivery, Austin-Rivas hired a photographer to capture the special moment.

“Because we have so many traumatic memories from Ireland’s birth, I wanted to make sure that we had some positive memories that would be stuck in our minds,” Austin-Rivas said. “That was my reasoning for doing it because sometimes you forget.”

“I was anxious, I was excited, I was terrified and then I was a complete puddle of tears when I saw her come out,” Kate Austin-Rivas said about the moment Christine gave birth to a healthy baby girl they named Scarlett. “She was crying and seemed strong and it’s one of those moments that I needed and I will never forget.”

Kids might appear to be happy and healthy one minute, but seconds later, it can be a drastically different scene, which is why babies and little kids need constant supervision.

When one Australian mother put her baby girl to sleep for the night, her daughter was, as usual, perfectly healthy. There had been absolutely no sign of trouble, yet when mom Stacey Gleeson looked down at the baby monitor as she normally did to check in on  her daughter, she was stunned to see her daughter was turning blue.

Gleeson rushed into her daughter’s room, and discovered that one-year-old Giana wasn’t breathing. “I picked her up and sat down with her on the floor and as I checked her airways .. I looked over and remembered my phone,” Gleeson said.

Gleeson had dropped her phone on the floor, and was too far away to reach it to call for help, but then remembered that she could ask Siri for help.

“Hey Siri, call the ambulance,” Gleeson yelled to the phone, which caused the iPhone to dial and call for an ambulance. “And then before I knew it the ambulance was on its way and Giana was breathing again.”

“Kids .. everybody, everybody should be aware of the abilities of their phone,” Gleeson’s husband said. “It’s helped save our daughter’s life and I never thought I’d have to go through something like that,” Gleeson explained as she urged other parents to learn about how iPhone functions could help in emergency situations like this.

While a person with a disability can do everything a ‘normal’ person can, doing ‘normal’ activities like going out to eat at a restaurant usually takes much more planning, patience, and effort.

51-year-old Lee Bondurant has cerebral palsy, which makes it incredibly difficult for him to eat on his own. Despite the challenge, he usually tries his best to feed himself or has a trusted friend or family member feed him, but when he and his mom Linda went out one evening at an oyster bar in Raleigh, North Carolina, his mom was struggling to feed him and herself at the same time.

When their server, a college student who goes by the name ‘Five’, noticed the two struggling to enjoy their food, he walked over to their table and insisted on helping.

When you’re an officer of the law, you’re pretty much on the job 24/7, always on alert and keeping a watchful eye.

We recently shared this story about a cop passing by a church, who was able to rescue a tiny toddler who was choking. Had he not been driving by at exactly the right time, we can’t help but fear the worst could’ve happened.

The same thing can be said for a tiny puppy who probably shouldn’t be here today, but now has a new ‘leash’ on life thanks to one kindhearted and quick-thinking police officer.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office recently shared the puppy’s heroic rescue on their Facebook page. According to the post, deputies from the Sheriff’s department were serving civil process paperwork to a residential home in Fort Pierce, Florida, when they started to hear an animal whimpering nearby.

“During a search of the neighboring vacant lot, they found a puppy who had fallen into a collapsed septic drain,” the Facebook post said.

“Scared and exhausted, they pulled him out, gave him several baths and attempted to locate an owner in the neighborhood.”

“Not finding anyone, the pooped pooch was adopted by the deputy that rescued him and is now enjoying a life in the lap of luxury.”

The sweet pup now lives with the hero who saved him, and from the looks of the photo above, he’s very happy being off the streets and in his loving new home.

Leaving your child in the hands of someone else can be a tough position for any parent, especially when you don’t know the person very well, but are forced to trust that they will take good care of your loved one.

While there are undoubtedly countless loving and responsible sitters out there to choose from, hearing stories like this next one will make you think twice about who you hire to be around your kids. Much like the heartbroken parents who found their baby boy bruised and in tears after time with his babysitter, the family of 8-month-old Haddix Mulkey seek justice for their son after unknowingly leaving him in the hands of a monster.

Police have charged 43-year-old babysitter Lori Conley of Reynoldsburg, Ohio with murder and child endangerment after baby Haddix was found unresponsive in the home where Conley was “caring” for 7 additional infants and toddlers.

Haddix was pronounced dead at a local hospital, where a toxicology report revealed Conley had drugged the baby boy with a lethal amount, two pills, of the over-the-counter allergy medication Benadryl after she said he was being fussy due to teething and having trouble falling asleep.

Each box of adult Benadryl states not to give the drug to children under six. The baby suffered from brain swelling and fluid in his lungs from the deadly overdose.

“I entrusted her to take care of my son Haddix and my daughter while I worked to provide for my family,” Katie Mulkey told Local 10. “I just really want justice for my baby,” Katie said. “Because this is something that was robbed from me, that was taken away.”

Grandmother Denise Mulkey said Haddix was a happy baby who “loved to be cuddled and held” and she has no words for her family’s pain.

“Devastating as a parent because my daughter is broken,” Denise Mulkey told Local 10. “And since she is broken I can’t fix her. This is something that God can only fix.”

Conley, who is a mother herself, has been given a $750,000 bond and told to have no contact with children and no unsupervised contact with her own children.
