When you’re a parent, it’s only natural for your little ones to get under your skin sometimes. And when you’re a parent of a teenager, it’s only natural for you to want to occasionally teach your kid a lesson they’ll never forget!

When we recently shared this story about mom who decided to give her bully of a step-daughter a taste of her own medicine by sending her to school in thrift store clothing, parents were torn on whether “shaming” the mean pre-teen was the way to go. However, we believe that a little tough love can be a good thing and in the case of angry Florida dad Allan Geiger Jr., we completely agree with his decision on punishing his teen son.

“I’ve been having some issues with my son over the past year,” Gieger told CNN. “I don’t want to see him struggle the way I did.”

After buying his son a used Ford Explorer for his birthday to get to school and work, Geiger was disappointed when he instead disrespected his parents by using it for joyrides with friends and a place to smoke weed.

Geiger decided to teach his son a lesson by posting the car for sale on Craigslist for just $250, even asking the buyer to occasionally drive by his teen to show him how good he had it.

The frustrated dad said it was a last resort, as talking to his son didn’t help and even though the car stole almost instantly, he left the post up as a reminder.

“It’s been an eye-opening experience,” Geiger Sr. told CNN. “He’s started talking to me about helping him reach his new set of goals.”

Brave Mom Pens Powerful Essay Revealing A Dark Secret To Help Others

Every mom deserves a guilty pleasure or the right to keep an innocent secret from her loved ones…

However, as we learn from author and stay-at-home mom Jen Simon, there are some secrets that need to be revealed in order to save lives.

Simon bravely spoke out about her opioid addiction in the wake of superstar Prince‘s tragic death. Her brave confession is only trumped by her hope to help others suffering in silence.

Here’s the powerful essay, first published by The Washington Post by Jen Simon:

jen-simon-sons-3051ad65-b333-4739-ac22-7600936ec92f
[Jen Simon]
Since his death, there have been countless articles speculating why a man as rich and famous as Prince would “allow” himself to become addicted to painkillers. But no one plans on becoming an addict. I know this because I, an educated stay-at-home mom, am an addict.

Like Prince and the millions of Americans who take prescription painkillers every year, I began taking them for their intended purpose: I was in pain.

When I became pregnant at 31, I knew my body would change irrevocably. I thought my red curls might go straight or my green eyes might reject contacts. I thought my feet might grow. I wasn’t prepared for my body chemistry to change. After my first son was born, certain foods tasted strange. I became allergic to alcohol. Muscle relaxants, which had previously helped my intense period cramps, no longer worked. My whole body felt different. Off. Wrong.

I had looked forward to reclaiming my body after pregnancy, but it was no longer the body I knew. In addition to physical changes, my mental state was also rocked by motherhood.

My son didn’t sleep. His piercing screams woke my husband and me every 45 minutes throughout the night; every morning he was awake for the day at 4:30 am. Depression and anxiety crept into my life until they fully consumed me. It felt like nothing was right and nothing would ever change and nothing would ever get better. And the pain, the unbearable pain that lasted for a week out of every month, added to my inability to function. To want to function. I started many days not wanting to open my eyes. I ended many days thinking about ways to end my life.

When my son was 6 months old, he napped in his stroller while I cried in my doctor’s office. “Maybe you could try Percocet,” my doctor offered. I had tried Tramadol, Soma, Flexeril, Skelaxin — none of them worked. None of them made me feel better. I was still in pain. I was still unhappy. I hadn’t started taking anti-depressants yet and wanted something, anything, to fix me so I wouldn’t kill myself.

Percocet dulled my pain. With just one pill, my period was no longer insurmountable; I was able to uncurl from the fetal position and leave my bed. One pill made it possible to pick up my son without wincing at a muscle spasm. Percocet was the magic elixir I was seeking. It did the impossible: It made me feel better.

While tragic, Prince’s death is not unique. His death is the perfect example that yes, it can happen to anyone. My addiction is, as well.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 44 people die in the United States each day from an overdose of prescription painkillers. In fact, drug overdose is now the the leading cause of accidental death in the United States, surpassing car crashes, according to the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

I remember telling a friend that I didn’t understand why people got addicted to painkillers because I didn’t feel high, just better. But I quickly realized that when you are desperate and suicidal, better is preferable to high. You can’t function when you’re high — you can when you feel like an improved version of yourself.

Percocet made me happier. It quelled my anxiety. It made me chattier, able to talk to my friends without breaking down into hysterics. Although I could no longer drink, it was similar to having a glass of wine — its warmth relaxed my body and helped turn off the terrible thoughts that had been taking over my mind. Once I knew it was possible to feel like that, I never wanted it to end.

Almost immediately, I began taking Percocet daily, whether or not I was in pain.

A few months later, I sought treatment for my post-partum depression and started taking Lexipro, an anti-depressant. It helped. My psychiatrist also wrote me a prescription for Ativan, a benzodiazepine (similar to Xanax) for anxiety. That helped, too. I started to feel more human.

Although I was no longer suicidal, I was still depressed and didn’t feel good or even normal. Percocet made me feel as close to good as I could get.
It wasn’t long before I started taking Ativan daily, too. The Percocet made me feel better; the Ativan made me not feel. Although Percocet was my drug of choice, for the majority of five years (excluding my second pregnancy and the months I spent nursing), I took any opioid (Percocet, Vicodin, Tylenol 3) and any benzo (Ativan, Xanax, Valium) that I could get prescribed, beg, borrow or steal.

For more than a year, I had four different doctors prescribing Percocet to me. None of them checked to see if I was getting prescriptions from anyone else. No one warned me about the dangers of addiction; in fact, a few times my doctors apologized for having to write me a physical prescription instead of being able to call it in to my pharmacy. These new laws, my obstetrician complained, they make it harder for regular people like you to get your pills. Regular people like me.

I didn’t take pills to get high. I wasn’t out of control. I didn’t nod off and I wasn’t unable to take care of my children. Because of that, no one suspected me of being an addict. Why would anyone suspect me? I was a normal-looking, put-together, caring mother. Mothers aren’t addicts, are they? More and more often, we are.

I used my privilege to “pass.” My life as a stay-at-home mom was the perfect disguise. There are millions of us addicts disguised as regular people. We’re not all rock stars: We’re your neighbor or your sister. We’re in the pickup line, waiting for our kids. We’re on the PTA.

For years, I’ve known that my experience of motherhood has been defined by depression. But only recently have I realized that it has also been defined by addiction. I used to think that Percocet made me a better mother, that Ativan made mothering bearable. I am learning that I was wrong.

Addiction is exhausting. Every month, every week, I needed to hustle. I needed a plan to get my pills. No matter how big my stockpile was, there was never enough. Every few days I told myself I would quit; I swore every prescription would be my last, but I couldn’t do it. I would start to feel sick if I missed even one pill, let alone tried to stop for an entire day.
I had many “rock bottom” moments, but my last was when I helped my childhood friend clear out her father’s house after his funeral. She cried on the couch while I raided his medicine cabinet. I told her I loved her; I hated myself. It was years in the making, but stealing from a dead man made me finally admit the truth: I was an addict and I needed help.

Although I was afraid of telling my husband, when I did, he was supportive and understanding. Last June, my family cared for my children so I could go to rehab. Since then, I’ve been in group therapy and individual therapy and have gone to 12-step meetings. I see a therapist and new psychiatrist who specializes in addiction recovery. Through this help, I have found a combination of prescriptions that works for me: an anti-depressant, a non-addictive anti-anxiety medication, a mood stabilizer, and Suboxone, an opioid blocker that reduces cravings.

The past year has been extraordinarily difficult. It’s strange how not doing something is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But it’s vital for my family and for myself. I’m learning that while there is no magic fix for feelings, there are also non-medicinal ways to cope with problems and stress. I’m learning that it’s imperative to be open and honest, to take responsibility and let other people, other moms, know they’re not alone. I’ve been there. I know how you feel. It can and will get better.

You don’t have to die from this like Prince did, but you do need help.

My name is Jen. I’m a stay-at-home mom. And I’m an addict.

Please SHARE Jen’s incredible story to help others silently suffering. You never know whose life you may save!

Parents Share Devastating Warning After Baby Dies From Misdiagnosis

When it comes to a baby’s health and safety, parents can often seem hysterical to doctors who are sick of being challenged by emotional moms and dads, but one Australian couple is warning parents to not let a medical license intimidate them from listening to their intuition.

In 2013, Naomi and Grant Day originally called an ambulance for their six-month-old son Kyran, yet were forced to wait four hours as EMS workers insisted on having their lunch break. Once they finally arrived at the hospital, the Days hoped they’d finally get proper care for their sick little boy, who they knew was very sick.

Doctors initially diagnosed Kyran with gastroenteritis, which is often called the ‘stomach bug’ and causes vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, however, Naomi and Grant knew it was more serious than that.

They insisted doctors do more testing, but they refused to do anything for their son, who was quickly deteriorating. “The deterioration from the night before was horrific. I told my Mum… he’s severely dehydrated, he’s pale, they’re not doing anything,” Grant said.

30 hours later, doctors realized Kyran had an obstructed bowel. They rushed him to the Sydney Children’s Hospital, but it was too late. “He died from the mismanagement and the mistreatment, the treatment that didn’t happen,” Grant said.

Now, the couple is speaking out about the tragedy that took their innocent baby, and is trying to introduce ‘Kyran’s rule’ so that doctors finally take parents’ concerns seriously. “I just don’t want this to happen to any other child,” Naomi said.

Many families install security cameras in their homes so they feel safe and secure when they’re not home, but most of the time they don’t capture anything unusual.

Homeowner Hollie Mallet was checking her security footage one evening as she usually did when she spotted something unusual. In the late afternoon, she watched as a little boy snuck into her garage. At first, she couldn’t understand what he was possibly doing, but then she watched him steal a quick hug from her dog and then run out.

“One day, we were going through the footage and I told my husband, ‘You’ve got to see this,’ and he came in and gave him a quick hug, and we wanted to find out who he was,” Hollie said.

Hollie posted the video to her Facebook page to try and identify the sweet little boy, and soon enough the boy’s mom, Ginger Breaux, found the video and realized it was her son Josh.

“Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn’t know he was doing things like this,” Ginger wrote in a comment to the video, which has been viewed about 2 million times. “Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn’t be on someone’s property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much.”

Instead of being angry at the boy’s trespassing, Hollie is actually thrilled that her black Labrador named Dutchess has a new friend. “My dog is super friendly and loves to play,” she said. “With my husband and I at work all day, it’s great for him to come and find her to play. Every day since, he’s been coming back and he’s been playing with her and it’s so fun to check the video at the end of the day to watch them.”

Doctors Save Baby With Rare Tumor After Seeing This In The Ultrasound

While expecting moms are with their babies every second of the pregnancy, they still can’t wait to see their baby’s little nose, eyes, and chubby cheeks. While they may not be able to see their baby’s face until the delivery, ultrasounds are the next best thing.

Tammy Gonzalez couldn’t wait to see her baby girl when she went in at 17 weeks for her ultrasound, but when the baby came on the screen she noticed a large, round mass by her baby’s mouth. At first, she thought it was just her baby blowing a bubble in the womb, but when she looked up at the doctor’s face, she knew it wasn’t so harmless.

Doctors told Gonzalez that the mass protruding from the roof of the baby’s mouth was a teratoma, a rapidly-growing tumor that would likely cause a miscarriage if the baby wasn’t aborted.

When Gonzalez refused both those options, doctors explained that there was one other possibility, but it was extremely risky since it had never been done before. “I said, ‘I want to do this,'” Gonzalez said as she agreed to the endoscopic surgery. “Let’s do this.”

Dr. Ruben Quintero made a small incision into the sac and cut the stem of the tumor, which fell right off.  ‘It was amazing,” Gonzalez said. “It was like a 500-ton weight lifted off of me.”

The tumor remained floating in the amniotic sac for the remainder of the pregnancy, but it shrunk by the time Gonzalez delivered her healthy baby girl. “She’s perfectly fine,” Gonzalez said two years later about her daughter. “She has a tiny scar on the roof of her mouth. She talks; she drinks. She is my little miracle child.”

Mom Learns The Hard Way To Never Give Her Baby Boy These 7 Foods

Anna Carlson was home alone with the baby one afternoon when she decided to let her little boy try a taste of her granola bar, however, she had no idea of the danger that lurked inside of the tasty snack.

Carlson and her son Arthur were in the basement playroom of the apartment when she broke off a small piece of her granola bar and fed it to her son for the first time. Moments later, she thought she spotted a strange red rash on his body, and by the time she brought her son upstairs to take a better look, the rash was covering his whole body.

Carlson realized her son was having an allergic reaction and called 911 after stabbing Arthur in the thigh with an EpiPen. At the hospital, doctors gave Arthur more drugs and steroids to help him fight the reaction, and hours later he was finally done fighting for his life.

Later on, Carlson looked at the ingredient list of the granola bar she fed her son, and saw in small print that the bar contained cashews, which is what caused the deadly reaction.

While this mom was given doctor’s orders to give her little boy new foods, moms and dads should all memorize the 7 other kinds of foods to never feed their little ones:

  • Cow’s milk: While many kids and adults drink cow’s milk, don’t try using this as a replacement for breastmilk or formula as it’s harder for your baby to digest.
  • Nuts: Peanuts and tree nuts like cashews, almonds, and Brazil nuts are some of the most common allergenic foods and can cause severe, life-threatening reactions. Even if your child doesn’t have a nut allergy, their small size and texture is a choking hazard for children under four.
  • Honey: Honey is a raw food, and while the chance is small, it may contain a bacteria that causes infant botulism in children under a year old.
  • Fish: Fish and shellfish is another common food group that causes severe allergic reactions, which children usually don’t grow out of. Be sure to talk to your doctor before giving your child any fish, shrimp, lobster, or crab.
  • Hard or sticky foods: While this has nothing to do with allergies, foods that are extremely sticky or hard like marshmallows or hard candies can be difficult for a baby to chew, and can easily cause choking.
  • Unpasteurized dairy products: Pasteurization is an important process that kills harmful organisms and bacteria from foods like milk and cheese. While adults shouldn’t even eat unpasteurized foods, babies have weaker immune systems and are more susceptible to bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria.
  • Eggs: Eggs are another common allergenic food that can cause life-threatening reactions, however, even if your baby is not allergic to eggs, be sure to cook them thoroughly as it increases the risk of Salmonella poisoning.

Did you know not to give these 7 foods to small children? Let us know in the comments below, and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

Study Shows Texting While Parenting Can Make You A Worse Mom

[PJ Media]

Living in the digital world makes it difficult to put down our devices, but a new study reveals that too much time on the mobile device leads to bad parenting habits and even relationships.

A few weeks ago, LifeDaily covered this story about a Mom who put her phone down and watched her kids play at the park. In the name of conducting a social experiment, Brandie tallied the number of times her young boys looked at her while they played.

“28 times my angels would have wondered if the World Wide Web was more important than them. 28 times my boys would have not received the attention most adults are searching for.

28 times my loves would have questioned if they were alone emotionally. 28 times my kids would have been reassured that who you are online is what really matters.”

Twenty-eight was the magic number of times her twins looked to see if she had noticed the skills they were learning or the bad behavior she hoped they weren’t.

[Getty]
[Getty]
And she saw all of this because she wasn’t staring down at a device. She was building a better relationship with her children simply by paying attention to them. And there’s scientific evidence to back this up!

A new study from Boston Medical Center reveals that parents who become too absorbed in their cell phones have more negative interactions with their children because the kids feel they are competing with the device.

To study the effect of smartphones, Dr. Jenny Radesky, a fellow in developmental-and-behavioral pediatrics at Boston Medical Center, observed interactions between children and adults without participants realizing they were being observed.

Undercover investigators surreptitiously observed any adult-child grouping with more than one youngster as they ate at a fast-food restaurant. The observers recorded the behavior of both the adults and the children in 55 groupings, as well as how frequently the adults used their smartphones, according to TIME.

The study showed a look at what happens when parents are absorbed with their devices and children compete for their attention. One child reached over and attempted to pull his mother’s face up and toward him, while she stared at her tablet. The child’s action was unsuccessful. Another mother kicked her child in response to the child’s multiple attempts to get her to look away from her smartphone. And a father responded with irritated tones to his children’s escalating efforts to pull him away from his device.

“What stood out was that in a subset of caregivers using the device almost through the entire meal, how negative their interactions could become with the kids,” says Radesky. And while the study didn’t quantify the quality of the interactions, it’s clear that there was a correlation between device usage and negative interactions.

But this isn’t news, people, and it has nothing to do with the technology itself. This is about attention.

[Getty]
[Getty]
Children need the affection and attention of their parents and if parents are going to place priority on something else (whether it’s a cell phone, television, or bowl of macaroni and cheese), children respond appropriately. They try to pull that attention back to them.

So please make sure you are giving your children a healthy amount of attention and try to make all interactions with your children positive ones.

Utah police are investigating the case of a 1-year-old girl who died from an apparent heroin overdose.

Paramedics report they found Penny Cormani unresponsive and blue in the lips when they responded to a 911 call on Dec. 2 at a Provo home.

Mom, Cassandra Richards, told police she put Penny down for a nap with a bottle of milk around 11am on the day of the incident. An hour later, she checked on her little girl and found her unresponsive, reported KSTU-TV.

The mom said she attempted CPR on the infant before calling 911.

Autopsy reports say Penny was found with a lethal amount of heroin in her system, and police allegedly uncovered drug paraphernalia in the house. Among the items found were burnt foil and straws with burnt ends, two items typically used in connection with heroin.

According to KSL.com, the home did not belong to Penny’s parents, but to two other individuals named David and Sina Belgard. The couple had reportedly allowed Penny and her parents to stay at the home on Dec. 1.

The Belgards, as well as Penny’s parents, “all have drug histories,” reportedKSL.com. Penny’s parents, however, have both denied any illegal drug use.

Just when you thought you had heard it all, I guarantee you haven’t heard this one yet.

A polyamorous pastor is raising his newborn girl with his two ‘sister wives,’ one who is the biological mother and the other who feels the child is just as much hers despite not actually sharing DNA. This is because the trio is in a polygamous relationship.

Pastor Thom Miller already has 11 other children, but this is his first child with 20-year-old Reba Miller. Reba ‘married’ Thom Miller along with his 44-year-old wife Belinda and the trip lives together in harmony and they say, without jealousy.

“Reba is Mommy and Belinda is Mama,” according to Thom. Now, the devoted women and their 61-year-old husband have a long journey ahead of them, raising this child while they ignore the social stigma the world places upon them.

Listen to what this family has to say about their nonconventional ways.

And while I’m sure all our fabulous readers have so much to say about this lovely little family, please share those opinions with kindness in your heart and consideration on your tongue. Likewise, PLEASE SHARE this story with a parent in your own life who will find it to be an intellectually stimulating and fascinating story.

Lots of little kids give their parents a hard time when it comes to getting dressed and putting shoes on, which is why one Blackpool, England mom didn’t take her daughter seriously when she complained about her shoes.

2-year-old Esmé Connor was celebrating her 2nd birthday when she received a pair of peach colored jelly sandals, but it wasn’t until a few days later, after all the birthday activities subsided, that mom Lisa Connor and her fianceé Niall Cartmell dressed Esmé up in her new shoes.

“On Monday she was moaning and whingeing and I initially put it down to being tired. She was playing in the garden while I did some work and that’s when she came in crying,” Lisa said.

“Esmé was in absolute agony. I couldn’t believe it because she had only been wearing them for half an hour. It’s not like she was running around in them for hours,” mom said. “She was just plodding around the house and then came running in in tears.”

“There was blood all round her ankle and on the soles of her foot. Of course there will be new shoes that rub, but this is ridiculous. There was so much blood and she wouldn’t stop crying. Her dad had to spend an hour calming her down. It spoiled her birthday weekend really,” Lisa said.

“Other parents saw my pictures and messaged me to say they had similar problems. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else,” mom explained. “I think they should be taken off sale before any more children get hurt. She’s not been able to put any shoes on since.”

When a dog was unable to escape from fast-flowing water in a reservoir in Kazakhstan, a group of friends linked hands to save the day.

The frightened pup must have gotten too close to the Sayran reservoir in the city of Almaty, and fell in. Luckily, a group of friends walking nearby spotted the dog and an eye-witness Marjana Khadreeva captured the rescue on her iPhone.

The video begins with one man bravely walking into the water and grabbing hold of the dog, who is believed to be a stray. But then, he was unable to get the tired puppy up the steep sides of the reservoir, so four of his friends linked hands, becoming a human chain and reaching from the railings at the top of the bank.

The crew eventually managed to reach the friend holding the dog, and quickly pulled them both up the sharp incline to safety.

Khadreeva uploaded the video to social media where it went viral! People commented on the post thanking the men for their bravery, and saying things like:

“The world needs more happy stories like this. Sometimes when I think there is not much kindness left I see something like this and I realize there are so many good people out there after all.”

A nonprofit organization in Orlando is offering to find homes- both temporary and permanent for pets affected by this past weekend’s mass shooting.

The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando’s offer is extended to the pets of those still in the hospital, and those belonging to the victims that were killed.

The Pet Alliance wrote:

For the past 80 years, it has been our honor to provide care and support for cats and dogs that need our help.  There may be victims that have pets that need care and shelter. We realize that not every family or friend will be able to care for a beloved dog or cat that may have lost its owner.”

The best way people out of the area can help is by donating online, where there’s also a wish list of pet food and other necessities.

According to BarkPost, no one has requested the Pet Alliance’s help yet, but “but the current confusion we understand that it may be days before the full impact of this tragic event is known,” said Chris Butler, the alliance’s marketing manager.

Butler continued that local foster homes have already come forward and offered to care for the animals left behind, for as long as necessary.

A Virginia woman said she is being discriminated against for her support of Donald Trump.

After attending a Trump rally in Richmond, Virgina on June 10, Shannon Riggs said she and her cousins visited a local Cook Out, a Southen burger chain.

According to WTVR, Riggs said she and her family walked up to the window dressed in Trump garb and they were reportedly denied service.

“As soon as we got to the window, someone inside said ‘Hell no! I’m not serving them,'” Riggs told WTVR.

Riggs said the servers shuffled around a bit, people from the back came out to laugh, and they eventually took their orders.

When one employee yelled out that an order was ready, Riggs’ cousin went to the window to pick up the food. Then the employee reportedly yelled, “Oh not for you!”

“You should not be discriminated based on who you support, whether it be Bernie, Hillary or Mr. Trump,” Riggs said.

The employees continued laughing, and that’s when Riggs canceled her order and asked for the phone number to corporate. Riggs then received a full refund for her order.

“Once you witness [discrimination] first hand, it’s a totally different experience,” said 16-year-old Lauren Wolfrey, Riggs’ cousin. “I was in a state of shock.

A Cook Out spokesperson issued the following statement:

Cook Out is, and always has been, a politically neutral company. We welcome all customers regardless of political affiliation.

Regarding the refusal of service at our Colonial Heights location, the situation has been resolved and was resolved that night per Cook Out policy.

Springer

Dogs have been known as Man’s Best Friend for a very long time, but if there were a second animal in line for that special title, many would argue it would be the friendly dolphin.

As you can see in this amazing story, dolphins have a unique connection with humans and other animals and are able to come to the rescue in terrifying situations. That’s why the following story about a heroic Springer Spaniel and a beached baby dolphin is so perfect and heartwarming.

Fisherman Rich Wilcock and was walking along the shoreline at Criccieth Beach in North Wales, when his 2-year-old dog Leia became a hero right before his eyes. As Leia was inspecting the shore, she came across the stranded baby dolphin, who had floated away from his mother and onto the beach. “I was stood taking pictures and videos of the scenery when Leia started to make a right old fuss.

“I stood taking pictures and videos of the scenery when Leia started to make a right old fuss,” Wilcock told The Daily Post. “She kept coming up to me, barking and nudging me, she must have smelt the dolphin from a mile off.”

“At first I thought it was a baby shark, it was only about one and half-foot but on a closer inspection, I could see the blow hole on top of his head and realized it was a dolphin.”

Wilcock said there was no one around for miles so he picked up the baby as gently as he could. “[I] popped him back amongst the waves and he swam away into deeper water… I combed the beach for a while afterward and stayed for an hour or so to make sure he made it back out to sea.”

Local Marine life professionals say dolphins and porpoises are often spotted playing near Cardigan Bay, Criccieth. Wilcock told The Daily Post his dog, Leia, “is a very intelligent dog, more intelligent than most.”

There’s no doubt in our minds that this brilliant Springer Spaniel is a hero, too!

Fit Mom’s Crib Workout Causes Controversy

mom

Melanie Darnell, aka fitmomma4two on Instagram, is known for posting videos of herself working out alongside her two young children.

Darnell recently posted a video of herself practicing strength training in the frame of her 2-year-old daughter Sage’s crib, and it has caused an uproar across the internet.

This fit mom is shown directly overhead her toddler, kicking her legs and doing side planks.

While Darnell received some pretty harsh comments from people concerned for the baby’s safety, she has a background in gymnastics and years of practice in yoga in reformer pilates, so she definitely knows what she’s doing. “Like any sane person, both my husband and I checked the strength and sturdiness of the crib before I climbed on top of it,” Darnell tells Scary Mommy.

“I would not have performed these exercises if I thought there was a chance of me falling on my child. Everyone has abilities they feel confident with, I know what I can and cannot perform safely, ” she continued.

But the harsh comments did affect this fit mom as Darnell describes: “Being called a bad mom is the worst,” she says. “I would never put my child in danger.”

Despite those who claim otherwise, Darnell’s intention when posting her workout videos isn’t to gain internet fame, but instead to inspire and support moms who struggle to find the time for exercise.

“I don’t do these videos for likes, as some haters claimed, but to inspire and motivate others to live an active and healthy lifestyle even after becoming a parent. Not everyone has the luxury of going to the gym and sometimes working out with your kids is the only option,” says Darnell.

What do you think of this mom’s workout video? Do you think they are dangerous for her child?
