While the sound of a crying baby can be irritating for anyone in earshot, it’s a baby’s way of communicating to mom and dad that they’re hungry, need a diaper change, or are in pain.

Most of the time, that crying won’t just go away until you fix whatever is bothering them, which is why one mom was stunned when her crying, restless baby suddenly stopped crying before she had the chance to get her room and figure out the problem.

Mom looked at her baby monitor and noticed that her adorable beagle named Charlie was standing beside the crib checking on baby Laura.

As mom watched, however, she realized Charlie was not only checking on Laura, but actually gently rocking her to sleep with his paw like he had watched mom do countless times to get Laura to calm down and drift to sleep.

Beagle Adorably Rocks Restless Baby To Sleep is an article from: LifeDaily

Doctors are supposed to be the experts at keeping their patients healthy, which is one couple almost ignored their instincts after being told their baby boy had chicken pox and that there was nothing to do but wait until it gets better.

At first 13-month-old baby boy Charlie did have the chicken pox, which first popped up in the beginning of February. Parents Becky and Alan Cave tried and relieve some of the pain and itchiness, but knew they just had to wait it out until Charlie got better.

However, by the next morning, Charlie had developed a fever and a cluster of sores popped up on his neck. “A parent knows their child and on that one morning we knew something was wrong,” Alan said.

Mom and dad thought they were just being paranoid and overprotective, but they couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling that something worse was going on and a few days later rushed him to the hospital when the skin on his neck started turning black.

Doctors then discovered Charlie had developed an infection called Necrotizing Fasciitis from scratching a sore on his neck, which spreads quickly and kills soft tissue, as well as the deadly blood poisoning disease Sepsis. “It was an out-of-body experience. We were told quite early on Charlie had sepsis and that it would get worse before it got better, but I don’t think they expected him to be quite as bad as he was,” Alan said.

Charlie was in critical condition and put in a coma, but incredibly survived a 7-hour operation to remove some of the dead skin around his neck from the flesh-eating infection. When tests came back from the removed skin, they also discovered the tough little boy was also fighting a Strep A infection on top of everything else.

Miraculously, Charlie recovered from the various deadly infections, but Becky and Alan are now urging parents to always trust their instinct. “I just want to say to other parents to not take anything for granted and if you have a concern, to act on it,” Alan said. “Make sure you get your child checked out immediately because it is so time sensitive. If we had left it any longer, I think we would be giving a different story.”

What 10-year-old boy wouldn’t jump at the chance to fly down a massive water slide?

It’s hard to deny the allure of Verrückt (the German word for “insane”), the world’s tallest water slide and three-person raft that plummets straight down 168-feet at about 45 miles per hour. Yet after tragedy struck at the slide’s home, Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, Kansas, people are outraged that such a wild ride, apparently meant to attract “thrill-seekers” even exists.

Caleb was riding with two strangers when it’s likely his belt came undone and he fell out of the raft in a devastating accident.

When the ride opened in 2014, co-owner and Verrückt creator Jeff Henry told USA Today of safety problems. “We had many issues on the engineering side. A lot of our math was based on roller coasters at first, and that didn’t translate to a water slide like this. No one had ever done anything like this before.”

The park has since been shut down while an investigation into the boy’s death and the safety of the park continues. While some will undoubtedly argue that Caleb shouldn’t have been allowed on the ride, it’s important to remember we know very little about how the decision came about and not to blame his devastated parents.

Outrage Follows 10-Year-Old’s Death On ‘World’s Largest Water Slide’ is an article from: LifeDaily

Many times when a person is hurt or even killed by domestic violence, people will ask why they stayed in the bad relationship or living situation for so long.

Sadly, the truth is both tragic and devastating. Most victims of domestic violence don’t leave their abusers in fear of retaliation and what they might do if they found out. This exact fear is what made one Pennsylvania mother finally muster up the courage to leave her abusive husband, but also what led to the untimely death of her and her three children.

Following the heartache of 2-year-old Willow’s near-death experience and heart transplant for a congenital defect as a newborn, Megan was very open about suffering from PTSD.

The mom also shared how she suffered from “survivor’s guilt” for other families who lost children with similar conditions and told a friend on Facebook that her PTSD had done a number on her marriage, and although her husband didn’t hit her, she was being abused.

According to reports, 33-year-old Short also shared with a friend on Facebook that she began a relationship with another woman, the mother of a child with a heart condition.

District Attorney John Adams told WWLTV he found the bodies of Megan Short, Mark, 40; Megan, 33; and Liana, 8, Mark Jr., 5, and Willow, 2, all from shotgun wounds, alongside a handgun and what appeared to be a hand-written suicide note.

Although there have been reported instances of domestic abuse by the couple, police have not yet named Mark Short as the shooter.

On August 1, Amber Hills and boyfriend Logan Brown-Fletcher welcomed three identical triplets, Raelyn (2 pounds, 12 ounces), Avery (3 pounds, 11 ounces) and Elaina (2 pounds, 15 ounces), according to TODAY.

According to TODAY, the babies’ doctor at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Dr. Craig Novack, said the odds for the triplets were at “somewhere around one in a million” and that “The triples are doing remarkably well.”

19-Year-Old Oregon Couple Welcomes ‘One In-A-Million’ Triplets is an article from: LifeDaily

While there’s no right and wrong way to raise your child, parents usually agree that you shouldn’t do anything to your child that’s been proven to be dangerous for them.

For the first six months of an infant’s life, they should be sleeping flat on their back in a crib without any blanket, pillow, or toys since these items have been proven to cause overheating and suffocation that can cause sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

However, an increasing number of parents have been ignoring health and safety warnings for their babies and buying specialty baby pillows in order to prevent their baby from getting ‘flat head syndrome’, which occurs when pressure on an area of the head causes a flat spot on the head.

Despite the clear warning, parents are  afraid that laying their child on their back for six months will cause an unsightly flat spot on the back of their head, and have turned to specialty pillows that claim to prevent a flat spot developing.

“Families are now investing in these pillows and cushions – but there is no evidence that they even work,” Dr Kirsty-Anne Noble, a paediatrician at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton and spokesman for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, said. “This is just a big marketing tool – we know that most cases of flat head syndrome will normalise by themselves over one or two years. At the same time there is clear evidence that babies need to be laid flat to prevent them dying in the cot.”

Rather than put you baby in danger, try these four safe alternatives to preventing flat head syndrome:

3. Alternate Your Nursery Layout: Depending on the layout of the nursery, your baby will naturally turn their head towards the center of the room, the doorway, or a window. Changing the layout of the nursery will force them to look in another direction.

2. Change Your Baby’s Head Position: Each time you put you baby to sleep, remember which way their head was turned. Next time, turn it the opposite way to prevent pressure on one spot on the head.  

1. Tummy Time: Babies need to sleep on the backs, so when they are awake, it’s important to not have them spend too much time on their backs. Instead, encourage supervised tummy time, which will also strengthen muscles in the arms, neck, and back.

Later, Whitney’s sister decided to share the hysterical photo on Twitter, which was then shared almost 50,000 times and liked over 107,000 times.

2-year-old Harmonia has an inspirational yet painful story.

The child was on 11 months old when she fell ill with Meningitis B. It ate away at her limbs until doctors were forced to amputate her arms above the elbows and her legs above the knees.

However, she’s too busy being happy to be sad.

She is a smiling, loving child who’s been known to introduce herself to other kids by explaining, “I have no hands,” according to her mother.

Her mother in turn says she deals with Harmonie’s issues by refusing to cater to her. She does not help Harmonie if she believes her daughter is capable of doing something for herself, nor does she let her daughter give up.

Recently, Mom get her special daughter a unique doll that is just like Harmonie. The special playmate is an American girl doll that like Harmonie is a quadriplegic.

Girl Who Became A Quadruple Amputee At 11-Months Receives Special Doll Just Like Her is an article from: LifeDaily

Living in the digital era means we live in the age of oversharing.

Twenty years ago, writing on somebody’s wall was considered vandalism and we had to remember each other’s birthdays by writing them down in a calendar. Today, we can see our high school sweetheart’s latest batch of vacation, photos despite not having a conversation with them in many years.

Social media has made it possible for us to post anything online and unfortunately, we sometimes post everything online. Take, for instance, the ironic story of the Georgia Mom who live-streamed herself beating and cursing at her daughter.

She says she was trying to teach her daughter a lesson. The teenager had posted photos of herself online that her mother deemed inappropriate and promiscuous.

A later post appeared after the initial video in which the Georgia woman wrote, “I love my daughter with all my heart.” But she says her daughter won’t “disrespect me.”

The mother had not been charged and names have not been released, but according to local news, the daughter says she feels safe in the home. Police spokesman Sonny Cohrs says there are no charges at this time, but that the case has been referred to the state’s child welfare department.

Officials Investigate After Mom Posts Video Beating Her Teenage Daughter is an article from: LifeDaily

The unofficial father-of-the-year is currently in recovery in a hospital in Manchester after donating a kidney that saved his 3-year-old daughter’s life.

Lee Chester, a 37-year-old account manager for the United Kingdom, told the Manchester Evening News: “This is something that any parent would do, you just say yes, it’s in the terms.”

His daughter Esme was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure last June. “Things changed overnight,” said Lee. “Her kidney failure was end stage – the worst it could get.”

Things took a bad turn very quickly. Esme had to spend 14 months on dialysis, sitting for up to 12 hours every day through the procedure.

When doctors raised the prospect of a kidney transplant, both Lee and partner Rachel Mulhearn were tested for compatibility, with Lee found to be the better match. ”I said yes immediately,” he said.

Lee said: “We are both doing really well. I’m so glad it’s gone well for Esme. She’s eating mashed potato in bed.”

“I’m quite sore so I’ll have to milk it at home for a bit. It really does show the importance of opting in for organ donation. It really does save lives.”

Lee and Rachel hope Esme will be able to recover in time to start at pre-school next month.

“Here’s to the future thanks to the best daddy in the world. He has given our daughter more than a gift, a chance at a better, healthier life and we will teach her to realise anything really is possible.

“They are doing really well, and everything looks to be working wonderfully. Donation changes lives – sign up today!”

Heroic Dad Donates Kidney To Save Daughter’s Life is an article from: LifeDaily

You might remember Amber Wolf from last week.

She’s the Kentucky judge who was furious when she found out a female inmate had been denied pants and sanitary products for three days.

Judge Wolf is once again making headlines after she allowed an inmate to meet his 1-month-old son or the first time. The judge is a no-nonsense woman who takes the law to heart, but she’s a big softy on the inside and knows how family supersedes court procedure.

Wolf was just about to wrap up a hearing for James and commence a hearing for Ashley when she decided to ask the mother if she’d like to introduce the baby to his father:

“I saw her try to hold the baby up when he came out for his case to be called with his attorney,” Wolf told WDRB. “And I thought that he hadn’t seen that. And it occurred to me after we finished this case that he had not met his baby — who was 30 days old — and that he was not going to get an opportunity to meet his baby anytime in the near future.”

Ashley said yes and the judge called James back in to the courtroom where the emotional meeting took place. Judge Wolf described the decision as “probably one of the best things I’ve ever done:”

“It wasn’t really a judge thing. I think it was just more of a human thing. He hadn’t met his baby. And I could see that his wife wanted him to see the baby. And I know from previous interactions from Mr. Roeder that he had been very concerned about being able to meet his baby prior to it being born. And I just saw an opportunity that I didn’t want to squander.”

“I think there were a lot of tears,” she said. “I think a lot of people were touched by it. Mr. Roeder — obviously, I don’t know what you can see on that video — but there were a lot of tears coming from him. There were tears coming from Mrs. Roeder as well. And it was hard for me to hold back the tears also.  I think everybody was a little bit touched by it, and I just hope it gave him a little bit of closure and impacted him in a positive manner.”

Judge Allows Inmate To Meet His Month Old Baby For The First Time is an article from: LifeDaily

Here at LifeDaily, we’re all about female empowerment, and we believe a woman deserves the right to feed her child however, whenever, and wherever she chooses.

As you can see in this amazing story about a new mother and very recent bride, we’re thrilled that less and less moms feel the need to cover up themselves and feel ashamed about doing something so natural.

However, for all the breastfeeding and body positivity out there, we still see a lot of negativity against nursing moms. We recently heard about a woman who claims she was squirted with breast milk after shaming one mom, but the following story out of Tennessee just might be even crazier.

Jasmine Millar says she was shamed by – get this – other mothers after breastfeeding her baby at her son’s Boy Scouts meeting. The mom says she has nursed her children Boy Scout events for the past three years and there hasn’t been an issue, but that two weeks ago a female troop leader asked her to stop.

“I was continuously told that I was inappropriate,” Millar told News 10, about breastfeeding her 1-year-old. “I don’t understand what’s inappropriate about feeding your child.”

Millar decided to fight back by contacting Middle Tennessee Council, which oversees her son’s Boy Scout troop, which was met with a letter asking the mom to cover up or leave the room if she needs feed her baby because, “some scouts and/or families are simply uncomfortable with public breastfeeding.”

“I was very shocked at their response,” said Millar. “They’re asking me to violate my legal rights to breastfeed.” The mom explained that she was using the two shirt method, where a woman wears a nursing tank under a shirt and then pulls the shirt up and the tank down to keep it private.

According to News 10, The Middle Tennessee Council said this on the matter: “Scouting members are always encouraged to treat all people in a courteous manner. We are continuing to evaluate this matter, and will treat all parties with dignity and respect. Though the BSA does not have an official policy or a position on this matter, our intent is to facilitate an amicable resolution to this matter for the benefit of the Scouting unit.”

Mom Is Slammed By Boy Scouts For Breastfeeding In A Meeting is an article from: LifeDaily

There isn’t much that can bring a mother closer to her newborn baby than by breastfeeding.

How a parent feeds their child is a completely unique choice that should be theirs and theirs alone, but doctors have recommended for many generations that women nurse their newborns up to 1 year old if they are able to.

Below, you will see 10 amazing tips from parenting blog Mama Natural for new moms who are just starting, may need a little help, or want to improve the experience for themselves and their little one.

1. Be sure you get the right latch
This is KEY. If we don’t have the right latch, we end up with really sore and perhaps damaged nipples. There’s a TON of great resources online that will literally show you what the right latch looks like but in a nutshell it’s about getting the lower part of the breast and areola into baby’s mouth so that the nipple hits their high palette which stimulates sucking.

2. Experiment with different breastfeeding positions
One of the most important of the breastfeeding tips is to get the right latch! As part of this, experiment with different positions. The Breast Crawl is an excellent and intuitive position for a newborn. They literately will latch themselves! But, we can’t nurse reclining in our bed with baby. From my experience, I’d say that the cross-cradle is the best position for newborns because it offers a ton of support. My little guy needed my hand on his neck to guide him to the nipple, help establish the right latch, and keep him in the right position as he nurses.

I also have heard that the football hold is really helpful for sore nipples and establishing a good latch. The sideline position, which you can do in bed, is nice for sleep-deprived mamas, but it is a bit advanced for some newborns to get the hang of right off the bat.

With my fast milk letdown, we also use the position where I’m laying back and baby’s body is on top of mine. This way his head is upright and the milk has to work against gravity, helping slow the flow.

While I tend to rely on cradle hold, I know that rotating positions helps with sore nipples since baby’s latch will hit different parts of breast depending on angle.

3. Get breastfeeding help early
Habits form fast so it’s VITAL to get the latch right at the beginning. (Don’t despair if you didn’t, as babies are adaptable.) Lots of moms can struggle with too fast of letdown or engorgement, or overproduction of milk, which can be remedied pretty easily! Getting help will benefit you and your baby immensely if you start off on the right foot and can avoid problems like clogged milk ducts.

If you can afford it, I highly recommend hiring a Lactation Consultant. Even if you are breastfeeding just fine, it can be a worthwhile investment. Yes, of the breastfeeding tips, this one will cost you some money. But, think of lactation consultants as Breast Whisperers, experts in the field of palettes, latching, positions, and intake volume. I was AMAZED at how helpful and empowering my consultations were. If seeing a consultant isn’t for you, check out free resources online.

4. Use breastfeeding props
A key breastfeeding tip is to stock up on some of the tools that can help us! Some of my favorites include:

The Nesting Pillow. OK, this is a pricey nursing pillow but the most comfortable by far. It literally molds to baby and mama. Love it!
The Boppy. The classic nursing pillow… very versatile too!
My Breast Friend. Another nursing pillow that’s great if you’re having a hard time getting the latch and positioning right. It’s very firm and you can even nurse while standing up! (with support from my hands, of course).
Motherlove Nipple Cream. This stuff is wonder cream for sore nipples, creating a healing “moisture seal” in-between feedings. Made with extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, shea butter, marshmallow root, and calendula, it’s non-toxic and safe for the baby to ingest, so no need to rinse off before feeding.
Nursing Pads. At the beginning, while you are establishing your milk supply, nursing mamas tend to leak. Using these pads, you prevent the embarrassing ring-around- the-nipple phenomenon.
5. Expect that breastfeeding will be challenging
Call me twisted, but I find if I know the worst right off the bat it helps me to stay positive. It is easier for me to find joy in the small successes along the way and not get discouraged if it doesn’t click right away. I also found that despite the right latch, I did have some tenderness from time to time, and that is perfectly normal. If your soreness persists, look into thrush. You can try this nipple cream, which should reduce thrush symptoms and pain.

6. Be sure to burp ’em!
If you don’t want your precious milk regurgitated onto the back of your couch, be sure to burp your baby well! This will also help ease painful gas bubbles that often accumulate in baby’s belly since their digestive system is still so delicate.

7. Get an eyewitness
My husband was a HUGE help in making sure I got the right latch with Griffin. From his perspective, he could see things that I couldn’t. He also was supportive in terms of getting me water each time I fed, inserting extra pillows for support, and changing Griffin’s diaper once I finished. He will also be the one who feeds Griffin a bottle at some point so it’s good for him to get involved early!

8. Use a breast pump if needed
I found pumping at 3 weeks was helpful so I could literally *see* milk coming out of my breast. While not always a good indicator of supply, it did give me peace of mind that things were working as a first-time breastfeeder.

I also liked having a bit in the freezer so that if I had to leave town unexpectedly or, God forbid, be hospitalized, my child would have some nourishment on hand. Pumps can also be great to help regulate or increase milk supply if needed. My lactation consultant recommended pumping each breast once a day in the morning when supply is usually higher and baby’s appetite is smaller.

9. Keep it pure
For the first month, try to just breastfeed without introducing a bottle or pacifier. This will help to establish a strong breast bond so that the baby doesn’t experience nipple confusion and start preferring artificial nipples.

10. Think peaceful thoughts
When I find myself tensing up while feeding Griffin, I consciously work at relaxing so that the experience is more enjoyable and successful for both of us. Instead of reading or looking at my phone, I often pray for him as he’s lying there. I believe little Griff picks up on this healing energy and feeds better as a result. And it’s especially important to relax while pumping to maximize milk production. So, be sure not to ignore this among all of the breastfeeding tips.

When it comes time to give birth, many expecting moms are understandably nervous, but it’s practically routine for doctors who spend their entire day deliver babies.

When one Spanish mom went into labor this past Saturday, her doctor was reassuring her that everything was going to go great as he started delivering her twin babies. As the doctor promised, baby number one came out without any problems, however, doctors and nurses couldn’t help but notice something very strange when the second baby started being delivered

Normally, the amniotic sac bursts during the difficult process of birth or gets pierced with a scalpel during a c-section. Yet, when mom’s second baby made its way into the world, it was born inside a perfectly intact amniotic sac.

Doctors and nurses quickly gathered around to see the rare birth, which only happens every one out of 80,000 births.

One of the nurses, Giselinha Correa, quickly began filming the incredible moment, and once the baby was born, doctors placed it on a hospital table and watched in amazement as it squirmed around inside the sac full of fluid and the umbilical cord.

The doctors then pierced a small hole in the sac with surgical scissors, which prompted the baby to spill out of the sac so mom could meet her second healthy baby.

Rare Moment Baby Born Inside Amniotic Sac Is Caught On Camera is an article from: LifeDaily

At 18 months old, most babies weigh around 22-26 pounds, however, when one Australian mother brought her 18-month-old baby into the hospital, doctors were horrified when they saw they emaciated baby weighed just 14 pounds.

The 33-year-old mom, whose name has not been released, had been desperate to treat her son’s severe eczema, which had gotten so bad that he was often covered in blood from scratching himself. At first, mom went to doctors for help, but the prescribed steroid creams did nothing to help.

When the creams failed, mom went to naturopath Marilyn Bodnar for help, and was told to start a raw food only diet since her diet could be having an effect on her exclusively breastfed baby. When that failed to make a difference in his skin condition, Bodnar advised mom to start a ‘water only’ diet.

For four weeks, the baby boy was deprived of nutrients and starved while mom tried these raw and water-only diets, and at one point ate nothing but watermelon for three days straight. By the time she brought him to the hospital, the baby was days away from death, was severely emaciated, had been vomiting for four days straight, had sunken eyes, extremely low sodium levels, and flexed hands and feet.

The mother, who prosecutors claimed should have known better since she was a university-trained midwife at a Sydney hospital, was then tried in court for endangering her son. “The case against the defendant demonstrates a serious example against her training and against the telltale signs which would have been blindingly obvious to anyone,” Magistrate Ian Guy said.

Ultimately, the mother was sentenced with a 14-month goo behavior bond, but can no longer work as a midwife and has to testify against Bodnar for reckless grievous bodily harm and aiding the failure to provide care to a child.

Breastfeeding Mom Almost Kills Baby After Starting Raw Food Diet is an article from: LifeDaily

Police officers have the important job of catching bad guys and putting them behind bars, but the other part of their job protecting and helping those in need, which is exactly what one cop did when he saw a tiny animal trapped in his cop car.

While getting out of an unmarked police cruiser Monday morning, one Miami-Dade police lieutenant, whose name has not been released, did a double take when he thought he saw something move in the grille of the car. When he took a closer look, however, he realized two tiny eyes had been staring right back at him.

Stuck right behind the grille of the Dodge Avenger was a tiny kitten, who somehow crawled inside to possibly get some shade from the heat, but got trapped.

The officer tried to get the kitten, who the Miami-Dade Police Department named ‘Pikachu’, out from behind the grille, but couldn’t figure out a way to remove the baby without causing any harm.

The police car was driven to the police department’s Fleet Management’s Internal Services Department, where the worked for an hour to loosen part of the grille so they could squeeze Pikachu out.

Cops Rescue Tiny Kitten Trapped Inside Police Car is an article from: LifeDaily

Couples never forget the life-changing moment they find out that they are going to be parents and welcome a baby into the world, which is why one wife worked hard planning the perfect way to tell her husband the news.

Wisconsin wife Bri Dow had recently found out she was expecting her first child with husband Brandon, but instead of just telling him right away, she decided to plan a special surprise. With the help of photographer Samantha Boos, who also photographed the couple’s wedding, Bri tricked her husband into thinking they had won a couples photoshoot.

“She told him that they had won my session giveaway and were going to do some couples photos. I told them to write 3 words that describe each other on their chalkboards,” Boos wrote in a post to her Facebook page.

Brandon got started following the photographer’s directions, and wrote ‘love’, ‘cute’, and ‘sweet’ on his chalkboard. Bri, however, wrote ‘You’re going to be a daddy.’

Boos then instructed the couple to turn around to see what they had both written, and captured the ‘priceless’ moment Brandon broke down in tears when he realized he was going to be a father.
