As every parent knows, kids occasionally get headaches and sometimes throw up, however, after six months of regular headaches and projectile vomiting, one mom knew it was time to take her little boy to the hospital.

At first, doctors ran some routine tests, but found nothing out of the ordinary when the results showed the 12-year-old’s heart and lungs were fine, had normal muscle strength, and had normal reflexes and sensitivity. The doctors were running out of ideas since the boy was not experiencing any seizures, dizziness or fever, and finally decided to take a few MRI scans to see if maybe there were any tumors in his head.

Instead of a tumor, the scan revealed the 12-year-old actually had a large cyst in the right side of his brain. “The MRI findings were suggestive of a hydatid cyst,” the doctors explained.

A hydatid cyst is caused by a tapeworm, called a hydatid worm or dog tapeworm, which normally occurs in the liver and lungs and in rare cases occurs in the brain. As doctors took a closer look at the scan, they could see that the cyst was filled with tapeworm eggs, which could rupture at any moment.

The 12-year-old was rushed straight into surgery where doctors removed part of his skull to get to the cyst, and successfully removed it. Three months later, doctors took new scans of the boy’s brain, and thankfully there were no new cysts or tapeworm eggs.

Like most other parents, Julie Fitzgerald loved snapping pictures of her 2-year-old son as he got older and started reaching exciting milestones like crawling and walking, however, she had no idea that one of those photos would help her save her son’s life.

Julie Fitzgerald noticed a one or two strange spots on her son Avery’s eye, but wasn’t too worried about it at first. Soon after, however, she saw a viral post on Facebook from another mother who had noticed a white glow in their child’s photo, which turned out to be cancer.

Fitzgerald had a nagging feeling she should try it out with her son, and just like the other mother had found, one of baby Avery’s eyes glowed white in photos with the flash on. “I just had this gut feeling in my stomach that something was wrong with his eye,” the worried mom said.

Fitzgerald couldn’t brush off her findings any longer, and when she took Avery to the doctor, they confirmed her worst fear: Avery had retinoblastoma. The cancerous tumors already covered 75 percent of his eye.

Fitzgerald was devastated when doctors told her they would have to remove his entire left eye, but was thankful that she had caught it just in time before it spread. ” If we did not get this eye out, the cancer would spread to his blood and to his brain,” Fitzgerald said.

“Our lives went from normal to cancer to a cancer survivor in three weeks. It turned out to be our worst nightmare but it saved our son’s life,” said Fitzgerald, who was stunned by how fast their lives were flipped upside down. “It is a medical emergency,” Dr. Richard Besser advised parents. “You need to see your doctor right away. It may be retinoblastoma. But if you miss that sign, it is usually fatal.”

Mom Catches 2-Year-Old’s Eye Cancer In A Photo is an article from: LifeDaily

If dog owners could, they would spend all day with their four-legged best friends, but unfortunately, many have to leave their pups behind when they go to work every morning, which is why one Colorado woman decided to enroll her golden retriever in a local doggy daycare.

Laura hated the idea of leaving her dog, Charlie, home alone every day while she was at work, and figured bringing her to daycare would let her socialize with other dogs, get some exercise, and, most importantly, stay safe thanks to constant staff supervision.

Like every other morning, Laura dropped Charlie off at the Bark and Play doggy daycare facility in Denver and went about her day. Yet before she managed to get back to pick her up, the daycare called Laura to tell her some shocking news. “(They said) she’s high on heroin,” Laura said.

While Charlie and a group of other dogs played outside in the daycare’s fenced-in courtyard, a drug dealer was running from police, and carelessly threw 17 bags of heroin over the fence as he ran by.

In the facility’s surveillance footage, Charlie was seen eating an entire bag of heroin before one of the staff members realized what was littered all over the floor. “You can see her chewing on it as she walks away,”said Garett Bishop, the daycare’s owner.

Thankfully, Charlie was rushed to the vet where they gave her charcoal and Narcan, and just managed to survive the overdose, however, Laura is furious at the drug dealer for endangering Charlie. “I could have lost my dog yesterday because some stupid idiot decided to sell drugs, run from the police and throw them.”

Dog Overdoses After Drug Dealer Dumps Stash At Doggy Daycare is an article from: LifeDaily

In 2014, 7-year-old Kaylb Wiley Primm was attending second grade in Kansas City, Missouri when he was the victim of a troubling case of abuse.

Kaylb had been dealing with ongoing cases of bullying at school. He has trouble hearing and is routinely bullied for this reason. When Kaylb one day started crying and screaming as a result of the bullying the school resource officer, Brandon Craddock, got involved, according to the Huffington Post.

Craddock removed the 7-year-old from the classroom. However, when the crying persisted, the officer put the child in handcuffs and had him sit in the principal’s office for 15 minutes while they waited for a parent to arrive and pick him up.

Now, two years later, the ACLU has gotten involved and a lawsuit has been filed.

“This child committed no crime, threatened no one, and posed no danger to anyone,” said ACLU of Missouri Legal Director Tony Rothert. “Gratuitously handcuffing children is cowardly and violates the constitution.”

While the incident appears like a trivial case to some, Kalyb’s mother Tomesha Primm says there have been long-lasting effects. She pulled her son out of the school in favor of homeschooling after the incident. She said her son also started having nightmares and wetting the bed.

Due to homeschooling her son, Primm has “missed out on an income.” Kaylb returned to traditional school this year, but the lawsuit goes on.

7-Year-Old Boy Gets Removed From Class And Placed In Handcuffs For Crying is an article from: LifeDaily

Every morning, Montreal dad David struggled to get his adorable little girl to take her vitamins as they rushed to get out the door. No matter what he did or tried to bribe her with, nothing would work until he finally figured out the perfect, albeit extreme way to make taking her daily vitamin gummies more fun.

David works as a videographer and loves using drones to capture stunning areal footage, and one day it hit him that he could use a mini drone in the house to make his daughter’s mornings a bit more fun.

In the video, David takes his new mini drone, which he can easily fly in the house, attaches some tape to the drone, and then sticks his little girl’s colorful gummy vitamins to the end of the tape.

As expected, his daughter was thrilled when she saw the tiny drone fly through the house, and was happy to pick the vitamins off the tape.

It’s no secret that young Mama’s are professional multitaskers, but new Mom Anna Young is showing us just how far those multitasking abilities can extend.

Just 5 months postpartum and this Mom isn’t just running marathons, she’s also making headlines.

”Yesterday I ran a half marathon at five months postpartum,” Young wrote in the caption on Facebook. “I had to leave at 4:30 a.m. and the race started at 6:45 a.m. I nursed my daughter before I left my house, pumped after running the first 8 miles and nursed her after I made it past the finish line.”

Young decided that having an infant daughter would not stop her from doing what she loves so she trained continuously after delivering her baby, often running while she pushed her daughter’s stroller.

“I thought signing up for a race would be a good way to commit myself to running more regularly, as well as an opportunity to share something I am passionate about with my daughter,” she said.

Young says she originally intended to pump on the sideline, but in the moment, she decided to just keep going.

Young had no idea a photographer had captured the moment saying, “I was a bit surprised when I saw it uploaded with my race results,” she said. “I don’t believe most of the people running past me could tell what I was doing, but I did have one woman look back and cheer me on because she knew exactly what I was doing.”

The photo has now been shared more than 1,700 times, garnering her the attention of the internet.

“Even though I was nervous about pumping during my race, I hope it helps other mothers to not be afraid to nurse their children in public,” she continued. “I want other moms to see that you can still take time to do the active things you love and nurture your baby. Breastfeeding and motherhood does not limit what I am capable of, it only enhances it.”

Mom Goes Viral After A Photo Surfaces Of Her Breastfeeding While Running A Marathon is an article from: LifeDaily

Everybody knows being a parent can be a pretty messy job, but when one man became a father in 2014, he discovered just how messy that job can be.

You see, Al Ferguson and his wife thought doing a newborn shoot shortly after their son was born would be a great idea. So they called up photographer Kristy Grant and arranged a shoot with the talented photographer.

The couple discussed the idea of doing a nude shoot with their newborn, draping the child over Dad’s arm, as is popular in so many newborn photos.

The shoot went well in the beginning. The baby slept soundly (a near-impossibility for so many newborn shoots), but then Dad felt a rumble from down under and he knew it was already too late.

The spontaneous moment was captured on camera resulting in one of the more hilarious photos caught on camera that year and eventually making its way around the internet before it garnered viral fame.

Fortunately, Dad had a good sense of humor about the funny photo.

“I went through a whole host of thoughts. Firstly for the shaggy carpet, secondly my arm, thirdly sheer hysterics, fourthly what I should do with him and lastly more laughter,” he told Mashable.

We’re glad he took it with a grain of salt. There’s really no point crying over spilled milk…or any other spilled bodily fluids for that matter.

Beznec is one of as many as 5 million women in the United States who suffers from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. According to Healthline.com, PCOS is a condition in which a woman has an unbalanced amount of estrogen and progesterone sex hormones.

“This leads to the growth of ovarian cysts (benign masses on the ovaries). PCOS can cause problems with a women’s menstrual cycle, fertility, cardiac function, and appearance.”

One common side effect of PCOS is uncontrollable weight gain. Being an advocate for healthy living, Beznec started the Facebook page “Fight Against Fat”, where she shares her journey with her condition and hopes to help other women with PCOS.

Since Beznec has too much progesterone, another unfortunate side effect is excessive facial hair growth. That’s why Beznec decided to share a very-real look at one daily routine not many women have to deal with: shaving her face.

“As well as depression, anxiety, infertility, weight gain, hormonal imbalances, bloating, abdominal pains, acne, cysts, increased risk of cancer and everything else, a lot of woman including myself have to deal with facial hair!,” Beznec wrote on Facebook.

“Do you know how UNFEMININE this can make a woman feel?!? I’ve always been super self conscious about it, but really just have to put this out there because I want create more awareness around this syndrome and how much it can impact someone’s life especially if they don’t know they have it.”

Woman Shares Photo Shaving Her Face To Raise Awareness For Her Condition is an article from: LifeDaily

Strong-willed toddlers love to make life difficult for their parents as they downright refuse to do what they’re told, which is why one Arizona mom did something a bit extreme to get her difficult 3-year-old to listen to her.

While driving home one day with her two small children in the backseat, mom Michelle Fortin was terrified when her little girl started screaming. “All I heard was her screaming and crying, and all of a sudden her brother, who was sitting next to her, yells, ‘Mommy! Mommy – she unbuckled her seat belt.’,” Fortin said.

Fortin immediately pulled over on the side of the road when it was safe, got out of the car, and went to strap her 3-year-old daughter Camille back into her car seat. She tried talking to the 3-year-old and explaining how dangerous it was to not have a seatbelt on at all times, but the message didn’t seem to sink in.

“This was something that would hurt her. Her safety was at risk, so I took it for what it was – a teachable moment,” Fortin said. “I got home and called the police and turned her in.”

The Scottsdale police were a little surprised when Fortin explained she was calling them about her toddler, but were more than happy to teach Camille about car safety. “We don’t know what other drivers will do,” Scottsdale police officer Corey Snead explained. “Other drivers might not pay attention and run into the back of your mom, or side of the car. If you were not buckled, our body is going to hit something.”

After being spoken to by the police, Camille quickly promised them she would always keep her seatbelt on from now on, and Fortin was thrilled with how well it worked. “Yes, it was an extreme choice on my part to call the police, but I know she’s going to remember it,” Fortin said.

Like most people, one Oregon teenage girl never analyzed her food before chowing down, however, the disgusted 18-year-old now wished she had after realizing the disturbing ‘seasoning’ that covered her potato chips.

Emily Wagoner was about half-way through her meal from local sandwich chain Pita Pit when she looked down at her potato chips, and realized the black specks covering her ‘salt and vinegar’ chips weren’t actually black pepper flakes like she had thought.

Instead of pepper, the potato chips were covered in dozens of dead black ants, and unfortunately, Wagoner only realized the truth after eating half of the bag. “Never go to Pita Pit ever, OM*G literal dead ants all over my chips and I thought it was seasoning so I ate them,” the teenager wrote in a post to Twitter along with the picture of the chips.

Many couldn’t believe Wagoner didn’t realize the ‘pepper’ wasn’t ants since you could see the dead bugs’ tiny legs, but Pita Pit was quick to contact her to apologize for the incident and offered her a $50 gift card, which Wagoner understandably turned down.

Woman Finds Dead Ants All Over Her Potato Chips is an article from: LifeDaily

An Illinois school district is under fire after a school nurse purposely delayed giving a student her EpiPen, favoring other options first.

If you’re the parent of a child with severe allergies, you’ve taken more than necessary precautions to make sure your child knows what to do in the case of a reaction.

So when 15-year-old Lia Sommer accidentally ate peanuts in the cafeteria of John Hersey High School in Illinois last month, she knew what to do.

Lia has dealt with allergies her entire life and when she realized she had been exposed to the dangerous food, she went directly to the nurse’s office.

But this is where the school district failed to keep our children safe from harm:

In a letter written to the Township High School District 214 Board of Education, Lia’s mom, Lonnie Joy Sommer, states the following according to the Chicago Tribune:

The nurse on staff allegedly advised Lia to take an antihistamine, Benadryl. Lia refused, knowing from previous experience that her symptoms would be masked by the antihistamine, though the anaphylactic reaction would not be halted, and would continue to silently and dangerously escalate undetected.

Sommer additionally said she arrived at the Arlington Heights hospital before the ambulance and was “astonished to find that no school representative had accompanied Lia to the ER.”

It is ludicrous that a minor would be sent alone to a hospital during school hours with no personnel to represent her. I am horrified and saddened by the complete lack of common sense and compassion that predicated this decision.

Lia was exposed to peanuts when she ate a turkey sandwich with pesto from the cafeteria.

In response to the complaints, the district said they would review their policies when dealing with allergy cases.

“The district sincerely apologizes for our mistakes,” District 214 spokeswoman Jennifer Delgado said. “Student safety is always of the utmost importance, and we are working with the family to remedy the situation.”

School Nurse Delayed Giving Student EpiPen After Severe Allergic Reaction is an article from: LifeDaily

Heroes Help A Tiny Chihuahua Reunite With Her Heartbroken Owner is an article from: LifeDaily

A Washington mother said her daughter received a virtual report card over the weekend full of sexual expletives and profanity.

The student attends 4th grade at McCarver Elementary, where teachers use the app ClassDojo to make parents aware of behavioral issues and keep track of their child’s progress.

ClassDojo uses a virtual reward system. Students are given a plus for good behavior and a minus for bad. On a daily basis, parents can keep track of what’s going on in the classroom.

However, Pease received a few more comments later that weekend, ones that horrified her.

Her 9-year-old daughter was being rated and berated virtually by somebody who claimed to be a teacher at McCarver Elementary.

“She was crying and really hurt and asking why the teacher thought she was a b****, and why were people talking about her butt,” she said.

Local news reached out to the Tacoma School District when we learned of report card on Sunday. The school was unaware of the incident but they said they had a tech team investigating immediately. They confirmed they do not have any teachers at McCarver Elementary with this particular name used on the ClassDojo card.

9-Year-Old Girl Receives Explicit Remarks On Report Card App Used By Teachers is an article from: LifeDaily

A New York couple proved they will do absolutely anything for their eight rescue dogs. 

Mariesa and Chris Hughes, who have been married for three years and run a rescue for senior dogs called the Mr. Mo Project, were looking for a craftsman to build them a bed to fit their family of 10. 

Their rescue dogs, Meatball, Gremlin, Mabel, Money, Tejas, Sam, The Stig, and Quinn enjoy sleeping with the couple, and the Hughes’ were willing to do anything to make them happy. 

“I wake up and I think, ‘This is incredible. I’m like a contortionist with Stig spooning me and Gremlin between my legs and Sam sharing my pillow,'” Mariesa said to ABC News. “They love it. They love to just be near us. So however we can make that happen, they’re happy.”

They found a local craftsman, Mike Ford of Michael’s Custom Interiors, who built their bed for 10 in four weeks. 

“I’m a dog lover myself, especially senior dogs,” he said. “It broke my heart because I can’t imagine all the love and work these people put into their organization. They came up with the idea for the king-sized bed and asked me to come up with the concept to make it all work,” Ford told ABC. 

He built the bed out of solid cherry wood and included three pop-out drawers on both sides and stairs for the dogs who can’t jump up on the bed. 

Ford also engraved paw prints from his late dog Bailey, who was named after the character George Bailey from “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Couple Has Giant Bed Built To Fit Their 8 Rescue Dogs is an article from: LifeDaily

A dog name Belle was recently rescued from an unfortunate situation and looks to be making a full recovery, but what a journey it has been for her.

Belle had been living in a rural part of South Africa when rescuers from Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW) found her.

Unfortunately, in her homeland, access to veterinary care is very rare. So when Belle fell prey to a condition in which she was overrun by ticks, there was little that could be done.

Slowly, Belle accumulated thousands of ticks along her body, in her ears, and around her eyes. Rescuers were horrified when they came across the poor animal.

At first, there was little that could be done…

Removing the ticks from Belle’s body would have likely ensured that the dog would bleed to death. The team opted instead for hooking her up to an IV drip and waiting for the ticks to detach themselves.

One by one, the thousands of ticks removed themselves from Belle’s body and she slowly made a full recovery. Now, the dog is up for adoption and looking as healthy as ever.

Rescuers Are Shocked When They Find Poor Dog Covered In More Than A Thousand Ticks is an article from: LifeDaily

Spending too much time on your cell phone can be dangerous for a person’s health, but thanks to one man’s unfortunate accident, we now know that just having your phone on you can be a problem as well.

Jonathan Strobel of Palm Beach County, Florida is believed to be the first person to file a lawsuit against Samsung after he was injured by his Note7 smartphone.

According to ABC 7, Strobel had the phone in the right pocket of his pants when it exploded and caused severe burns on his legs. The 28-year-old’s lawyer told ABC7 he was “in shock and extreme pain due to his injuries.”

The suit was filed for an excess of $15,000 one day after the South Korean company recalled nearly 1 million Note7 phones for their defective batteries.

Samsung Electronics America President and COO Tim Baxter released a video statement after the government-sanctioned recall was announced following more than 90 complaints of batteries overheating.

Even if a bride or groom is distracted by 200 other people, a person’s wedding day just doesn’t feel right without all of their loved ones present.

That’s exactly why more and more people are involving their pets in their big day. Much like in this story about a couple who had their dog film their wedding, newlywed Kelly O’Connell of Colorado knew that if anyone was going to steal the spotlight away from her on her wedding day, it would have to be her longtime best friend Charlie Bear.

O’Connell adopted the black labrador about 15 years ago after finding him abandoned in a shopping cart outside of Buffalo, NY. “I was only 19 at the time and in veterinary technician school and wasn’t looking to be a pet owner,” she told People. “But when I saw him I knew he was my dog and we’d always be together.”

“I had just gotten married and everyone was congratulating us, but we ignored them and dropped to our knees and petted him and loved on him… I kept saying, ‘You made it buddy!'”, she told People.

Less than a week after O’Connell’s wedding day, Charlie Bear had to be put down.
