While it can be difficult for working mothers to breastfeed their kids, this hockey mom is showing us just how she makes do.

Sabrina Pfeifer is a hockey player from Dallas, TX. When she and her husband gave birth to their baby daughter 5 months ago, they knew they wanted to include her in their love of hockey.

Pfeifer told the Huffington Post that hockey has always been part of her life, and she starting playing senior year of high school and since then she’s worked as a coach, hockey director, and referee. Pfeifer even met her husband playing hockey, and while the two don’t get to play together anymore, they try to go at least once a week to a league.

“Kaci just comes along with us and pretty intently watches the game. We hope that that view will change in a few years with us both sitting in the stands while we get to enjoy watching her play,” she said. Having Kaci at games also means that Pfeifer can breastfeed her on the sidelines, and Pfeifer said she’s received incredible support from her husband and the support team at Dallas Birth and Women’s Center.

“It’s heartbreaking when I read or hear stories of other women who have not had such an easy go with it or get harassed for simply providing nourishment for their child,” she said. Pfeifer is grateful for the positive support she received after Breastfeeding Mama Talk posted the photo of her breastfeeding Kaci to their Facebook page.

“My pre-game routine is a little different these days,” the caption reads. Pfeifer hopes that her photo will inspire other parents. “After seeing my photo, I hope that people know that life doesn’t have to totally stop after you have children ― your main focus just shifts.”

The mom added, “While it is certainly different, you can still enjoy your hobbies even if they are in a smaller capacity. I hope that after reading my story that people know with the right support it makes it much more likely that you can achieve your personal breastfeeding goals. You find your tribe in the most unlikely of places.”

Baby In Bangladesh Is Born Looking Like An 80-Year-Old Man

Have you ever wondered if the “Benjamin Button Disease” is a real thing?

If you have, the answer is still no, that was just a movie, folks! However, there is a real disease called Progeria that recent news has led to some calling it the ‘Benjamin Button Disease.’

More devastating and less poetic than a Brad Pitt movie, Progeria causes premature aging in those it affects. It’s incredibly rare and only influences 1 in 4 million births, but for those who are affected by the disease, the outcome can be stranger than fiction.

A recent birth in Bangladesh has put Progeria in the spotlight when a child was born looking like an 80-year-old man on Sept. 25. The child was born with wrinkles, sunken eyeballs, and hollow features.

“The baby does not look like a newborn at all. There are prominent signs of aging such as excessive wrinkles and rough skin texture,” said a doctor who has been treating the baby.

Despite the unexpected outcome of the birth, the parents are thrilled to welcome their baby boy into the world.

“We can only thank God. There is no need to be unhappy about the appearance of my son. We will accept him the way he is. We are so happy to have a baby boy in the house,” said Biswajit Patro, father of the baby who works as a farmer.

The father went on to note that his new son has become someone of intrigue for the community, saying, “we have been getting a lot of visitors. Relatives, neighbours and even people from neighbouring villages have come to see our son. We are happy to host them all.”

Below is a video of the newborn, looking crankier than my Grandpa on a Monday. Take a look and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Mom Makes Kids Buy Back Their Belongings If They Don’t Clean Up

Getting kids to do their chores can be a chore itself, and like most moms with young kids and teenagers, one Indiana mom was absolutely sick of telling her kids to clean their rooms.

After telling her teenage daughters to clean up their rooms for the last time, fed up mom Alice Velásquez got creative and came up with a foolproof way to get her kids to finally do their chores by collecting everything that had not been put away from their bedrooms in garbage bags and selling them back to her kids.

“What do you do when you are DONE telling your teenage daughters to stop letting their room look like homeless people live there? You put everything (YES EVERYTHING) into plastic bags and you sell it back to them for $25 a bag,” Alice explained in a post to Facebook.

Alice explained to her kids that they could earn the money by doing other chores, and could pick one bag to get back for every $25 they earned.

“The best part? The bags were collected as they were found in the room- random! So their $25 could buy a bag of dirty clothes, it could buy a bag of trash or it could buy their soccer gear,” she wrote.

Teachers Are Confiscating ‘Unhealthy’ Foods From Packed Lunches

As any parent knows, packing school lunches can be extremely challenging.

This is especially true if parents are dealing with allergy issues, picky eaters, and tight budgets, however, school lunches just got a lot harder for some Canadian parents.

In order to instill healthier eating habits in their students, Ontario school teachers have been monitoring the food their students bring in for snacks and lunches and have begun confiscating anything that is not ‘healthy’ enough.

Sometimes, just a few things are taken away from students, or even their entire lunch is confiscated and they’re left with nothing to eat.

At first, mom Janae Brangman couldn’t understand why her first grader came home with her untouched lunch, but was furious when she found out the teachers had confiscated it and instead gave her just one orange in place of her entire meal.

“I felt it was more unhealthy for a child not to eat at all, than to eat a granola bar with chocolate,” she said.

Photo by KEITH BEATY/ TORONTO STAR
Photo by KEITH BEATY/ TORONTO STAR

Kids have been discouraged from bringing in typical snacks like pudding, chips, cookies, fruit snacks, Goldfish crackers, and granola bars, however, it’s ultimately up to the teacher’s discretion.

“It’s basically the teacher’s opinion,” said mom Avani Chaudhary, whose second-grade daughter was told she couldn’t eat a granola bar or Goldfish crackers. “Is a muffin more healthy than a granola bar? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what is in them. Is the teacher qualified to make these decisions? It should be up to the parents.”

Do you think teachers should have control over their students’ meals, or should that be left up to the parents?

Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this with friends and parents on Facebook.

One UK mom trusted that the baby products sold in stores were safe to use on her 3-year-old son, especially the ones that claimed they had more gentle formulas for sensitive skin.

Mom-of-two Nicola Redding has been using sensitive skin baby wipes from Aldi on her kids for years, and has never had an issue with the product. However, after recently purchasing a new pack, both of her small children were left covered in painful blisters.

“I have been buying and using these wipes for the last two and a half years with no problems at all. They have been fine up until then. On Friday night I wiped Mckenzie down before he went to bed. When he woke up the next morning he was covered in blisters and by the following day, the blisters had got infected,” the 22-year-old said.

“When I saw him I was just in shock, I didn’t know how it had happened. It is like nothing I have ever seen before. They were like craters. We didn’t know then, but when I started to look back I realized it must be the baby wipes,” said Nicola, whose doctor told her to stop using the wipes immediately.

Despite having the same packaging, Nicola suspects the formula has changed and is warning other parents to always check the ingredients on products you use on your kids even if you’ve been using them for years. “Amelia keeps crying and has started to walk funny because the blisters are on her leg. She keeps moaning and telling us to put more cream on,” she said. “I would tell other mums to be careful and not use these wipes.”

How would you react if a baby product that’s supposed to be safe did this to your child? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this with parents on Facebook to spread this mom’s warning.

Mom Called A Slut For Breastfeeding 15-Month-Old In Public

Fellow parents understand the struggles of dealing with hungry and demanding toddlers, which is why one mom was stunned when a fellow mom and her teenage daughter publicly shamed her for feeding her hungry baby.

Mother-of-two Kate Louise, who writes the blog Claim Your Mumjo, was recently out at a local shopping center with her four-year-old and 15-month-old sons when she noticed her baby boy was getting fussy and wanted to feed.

“Rather than allow him to get more grumpy the more hungry he got (typical male) I went out to the couches in the middle of the centre and starting to feed him, discretely of course,” Louise wrote on her blog. “I saw this mother and her daughter walk past and the daughter tapped her mother’s arm and pointed at me. *here we go*.”

“The mother charged in my direction.’That is not on’ she spits at me, ‘Go and do that where my daughter and I don’t have to see you.’ Quite simply and politely I replied, ‘My baby is hungry, so I’m going to feed him, I’m sorry if it offends you but him feeding is what’s most important.’,” Louise said.

Not only was the stranger offended that Louise was breastfeeding in public, but she was horrified when she got closer and saw how big baby Oscar was.”‘That is not a baby, he is way too old to be feeding off your tit,'” the rude stranger commented.

By that point, Louise was getting frustrated but calmly explained that Oscar was her baby, and she would feed him however she thought was best.

“She scoffs and rolls her eyes, looking as though she was done, when her daughter chimed in and blew me away,’And you look like a slut.’ To which her mother laughed and gave her a high five as they turned to walk off.

“A lovely old lady who I had seen watching the interaction came up to me and gave me a hug and encouraged me to continue feeding Oscar as long as I want and ensured me that I looked beautiful. That is what we should be doing! Loving and supporting one another. Whatever your choices as a parent, happy, healthy children are what is most important,” she wrote.

“I had my four-year-old with me, I was discreetly feeding my15-month-oldd. I am not a person who is overly comfortable in my own skin but I am confident while I feed. The dig at how I looked, hurt me. The fact that mother thought that was appropriate to say to another human, another female, another mother just hurts me to my core,” the devastated mother explained.

5-Year-Old Comes Home From Daycare Bruised And Battered

After one Florida mom received a call from her son’s daycare center explaining that her little boy had tripped and had a scratch on his face, she was worried but didn’t overreact since kids fall and get scratches all the time.

However, mom Chelsea Stallone was furious when her 5-year-old came home and she saw the ‘scratch’ that the KinderCare center had warned her about.

“I was upset. I was extremely upset. I couldn’t believe it happened. They completely sugar coated it. They belittled the incident. You saw the picture. That’s not a scratch on his face, that’s half his face,” said Chelsea after seeing Aidan’s bruised and swollen face.

The daycare had also claimed that Aiden had just tripped on his own, however, after Chelsea and her husband Steve spoke with their son, they found out he had been forced to play ‘the tripping game’ by a fifth grader during pick-up time when children of different ages are mixed in the same area.

“That’s what makes us really angry about this,” Steve said. “And when my wife went in there to talk about this, the teacher was basically trying to say they’re short-staffed, like, ‘What do you want me to do about it?’”

And when it happened again two weeks later, the furious parents filed a report with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Children and Families. “That shouldn’t happen,” Chelsea said about how the daycare continued to mix different age groups during drop-off and pick-up times. “I’m in childcare, and we would never do that where I work.”

The understandably frustrated mom then shared her son’s story to protect her son but also warn other parents to be more aware of what’s happening to their children when they leave them at daycare or school.

“I want parents to be aware of what goes on. Ask your children what happens at school. That’s the most important thing,” Chelsea said.

When you’re a parent, it’s hard to argue that anything is more devastating than having your child’s doctor diagnose them with an incurable disease.

From that moment on, parents are propelled into an instinctual survival mode, doing anything in their power to keep their baby healthy and safe. However, as you can see in the story about a family who spent years in quarantine to help save their daughter, there aren’t many safe places a sick child can go.

Morgan, age 2 [The Morgan Center]
Morgan, age 2 [The Morgan Center]
This was the case for 2-year-old Morgan from Long Island, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2000. Due to her suppressed immune system, Morgan couldn’t go to school or play with other children, but needed social interaction just like any other toddler.

[The Morgan Center]

It was at the hospital during her treatment, when Morgan was playing with another child who had cancer, that her mother realized there needed to be a place where children like Morgan could interact without fear of getting even sicker.

Three years later as Morgan’s cancer was in remission and she was entering kindergarten, her parents opened the doors to The Morgan Center, a non-for-profit organization and germ-free safe place for preschool age kids with cancer to enjoy life away from doctors, hospitals, and painful treatments.

The Hicksville, NY center is the only free preschool dedicated to these brave children in the country and it is funded entirely by private donations and fundraising.

Knowing that any child at The Morgan School could easily be one of their own, a group of grateful Long Island moms decided to band together and help this wonderful cause as “Team YOLO”. Over the past couple of years, their group has grown from 3 to 34, as they’ve raised over $30,000 for The Morgan Center.

Mother Of 14 Daughters Won’t Stop Having Kids Until She Gives Birth To A Boy

With already 14 daughters, 29-year-old Augustina Higuera has no plans to stop reproducing until she gives birth to a boy.

Higuera, who is from Paris, Texas, beat the odds this year when she gave birth to a third set of twins! While one would think that 14 daughters was certainly enough, Higuera tells Gossip Mill Nigeria that her and her husband, Jose, 30, really want a boy.

“We both really, really want a boy. We’d be over the moon, so we will keep trying. We’re besotted with the girls but Jose is outnumbered and it would be nice to even things out. I’m lucky that I enjoy being pregnant. I’ve never had any major problems, so it’s not a big stress for me,” she said.

“I’ve had so many girls I’m not sure what I’d do with a son. I just know I’d be blessed to have one. He and Jose would have an incredible bond. I hope I can give him that,” Higuera continued.

The mom continued, “I have no upper limit on how many children I’d have. I’d have another 10 if it meant having a boy.” When Higuera gave birth to her second set of twins, Hailee and Braelee less than two years ago, doctors joked that she was more likely to win to lottery than to have another multiple pregnancy. Low and behold, she conceived her youngest children Bella and Isabella just weeks later.

This busy mom already does 42 loads of laundry in one day, and sleeps only two hours! She makes eight different meals a day, and has to take her children to school in a minibus!

“It’s chaos looking after 14 girls but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always wanted to be a mum. When I was younger, I spent a lot of time looking after my younger brother and sister. Although twins run in my family, I never expected I’d have three sets. I know we’re blessed,” Higuera said.

Augustina and Jose do not rely on welfare to support their family as he earns enough money running a landscape gardening firm. “Jose works seven days a week to support us. For now, I’ve had a contraceptive coil fitted but I think we’ll start trying for another baby when the youngest are four.”

What do you think of this mom’s plans to keep trying until she has a boy?

Parents Do Awesome Halloween Photoshoot Of Their Triplets

With Halloween quickly approaching, one couple has decided to take dressing up their kids to a whole other level.

Jeremy and Ali Hynek are parents to 6-month-old triplets Penelope, Ethan, and Alejandra, who for short call them collectively PEA, or Sweet PEA (a combination of their first initials). In the days leading up to Halloween, these parents got creative and dressed their kids up in costumes for the first time.

PEA is taking Halloween very seriously this year! I was trying to brain storm ideas and texted my friend Brittany from @houselarsbuilt since she is the DYI queen. Long story short, she basically made all my baby costume dreams come true when she suggested we do a baby costume series! Why pick just one when you can have 10?! You may want to tag a friend that needs some Halloween ideas like I did! We have one baby costume idea to show you for the next ten days to help all you baby mamas get some of those creative costume ideas flowing! @houselarsbuilt has all the "how to" details on her website so head over there for details!! Any guesses on our other costumes?? #babycostumeseries #threeblindmice #triplets #sweetpea 📷 @annamkillian

A photo posted by Ali Hynek (@ali_hynek) on

“I’m a new mom and was really excited about dressing the babies up for their first Halloween,” Ali told The Huffington Post. “But I couldn’t decide which costumes to pick since there were so many things we could do in groups of three!”

Ali reached out to her friend Brittany Jepson, who owns a small DIY business called The House that Lars Built, and the two worked together on a series of costumes for the triplets for Halloween.

“The most important thing to me was that we use a lot of pajamas since that’s what every mom already has in stock,” Ali said. “I wanted to make costumes that other moms felt like they could make at home or at least would invest in the PJ’s and feel like they could use them afterwards!”

Photographer Anna Marie Killian worked on the shoot, and the three women posted pictures of the triplets in their costumes on Ali’s Instagram.

“When you have triplet babies you have to be very organized so that everyone keeps their sanity, so I have very specific times that I was able to dress them up and change them so that they didn’t get to irritated,” the mom explained.

Ali continued that her newborns are used to being photographed, because she takes daily pictures of them lined up in PEA order. She does this to track their growth and take joy in the little things that they do every day.

“The idea was to use Instagram as a memory book for our family and then have the photos printed with Chatbooks as we go along,” she told The Huffington Post. “I mostly want to create fun memories for PEA as the grow up and look back at their life.”

As Halloween gets closer, these triplets costumes are serving as inspiration for other moms who want to dress their kids up in creative costumes, but don’t want to spend unnecessarily to do so.

What do you think of the triplets’ costumes?

Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary was built in 1860 as a military citadel and prison and was once among the most dreaded prisons in America. A special needs child is in critical condition after bullies doused him in gasoline and lit him on fire.

Kayden Culp of Kerville, Texas has more than 20 percent of his body covered by burns, said Mom Trysten, according to local news. The 10-year-old was playing in a field with two other children when one of the boys lit him on fire.

[Valley Central]
Trysten said her son is suffering from infections and is currently on medications to stabilize his heart. His blood pressure is also reportedly unstable. Kayden remains on life support and is currently sedated.

“He needs justice,” said Ashley White, family friend. “I mean, no kid deserves to go through anything he’s going through. At all. Period.”

Trysten believes the attack was intentional. She said her son exhibits autistic behavior but has not been diagnosed. For his behavior, he is often the victim of bullying, though she never imagined children could intentionally do something like this to her son.

Trysten also said a law enforcement agency reached out to her on Wednesday and she plans to begin the process of pressing criminal charges against the people she claims intentionally set Kayden on fire.

A YouCaring page set up for Kayden Culp to pay for his medical expenses, raising more than $2,300 dollars so far. Please help this boy if you can and SHARE his story.

Mom Donates All Her Kids’ Toys In Attempt To Give Them A Happier Life

An Alabama Mom has discovered the key to success when it comes to making your kids happy: give them nothing.

Allie Casazza revealed her secret to success in a blog post on ScaryMommy.com. The mom of three said that she was falling into bad habits with her children and was not spending enough time with them.

Casazza said she was spending a lot of time cleaning up after her children and felt guilty and overwhelmed by the amount of clutter in their lives.

One day, she took a step toward a positive future. She took all the toys and put them in a box. She then donated the family’s entire toy collection to charity (with the exception of a few special toys).

Casazza says her children complained for a few days after the decision was made. However, it didn’t take long for the family to grow happier and healthier as a result. Now, the children rely on their imaginations for fun, a God-given gift.

See that bin? That holds every toy my kids have, except Legos, and it's only about halfway full. This isn't to show how hardcore we are or to say that you have to do this to experience the fullness of a life lived intentionally with less stuff, but only to say that kids are naturally happy little creatures. They're made to imagine, play, explore, and create. If you remove everything they've been told to stay entertained with, they will complain for a few days, but pretty soon their God-given imaginations will breathe a deep sigh and be brought to life again. They'll discover the beauty in making up stories and acting them out together, of finding bugs and naming them Hubert (Bella's grasshopper), and of forming a strong bond uninterrupted by noisy toys that do all the playing for them. It's a beautiful exchange- junk for life. I'm never going back and I'll spend my life spreading this message. 💕 #minimalism #childhoodunplugged

Talented photographer Lang Thomas documented the big day, and it was safe to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. The students were thrilled to be a part of the wedding, just as they were when Josh proposed. Yes, they were there too!

“It was really special for Josh and myself just to have them a part of the day, and have them come with us and celebrate with us,” French said.

French’s bond with her students is admirable, and we could only hope all teachers would be as caring as she is with her students.

Across the country, people have been posting photos of the disgusting lunches being served to students in public schools.

A student at one of Denvers Public Schools shared a photo of her school lunch with Denver publication Padres & Jovenes’s Unidos:

She noted in her photo that her lunch lacked fries, since the school ran out, she was served frozen strawberries, an underripe pear, and a chicken sandwich that came with a burned bun. The student also pointed out that this lunch was normal for lunches at her school, Kepner Middle School.

Following the photo, other students started voicing their complaints, and many moms decided to take action to get to the heart of the problem. Denver’s Channel 7 reports that 50 moms partnered with Padres & Jovenes Unidos, and went to the school district and got permission to look at the lunches that were being served in the sixteen schools. Half of the schools were in poor neighborhoods and the other half were in wealthy ones. The difference the mothers found in the meals were shocking!

On the left shows fresh, high-quality food that is served to the schools in wealthier neighborhoods, and the photo on the right shows overcooked and underripe food served to Kepner Middle School students.

Mom Ana Maria Munoz told Channel 7 News how she felt about the discovery: “It’s very sad, angering, frustrating to see that we are served such low-quality food, whereas in schools where people are wealthier, more affluent, they have much better food.”

Executive Director of Enterprise Management for Denver Public Schools Theresa Hafner refuted the claim saying that cooks rotate through the various schools: “I really don’t think that one side of town takes more pride in their product than another side of town.”

Hafner was however, grateful, that the issue was brought to the district’s attention. Denver Public Schools are now working hard to make changes that are parent and kid approved.

Most parents think that after they make it through the terrible two’s, it’s all smooth sailing. For a while it is, however, one UK mother is just discovering that the terrible two’s are a cake walk compared to puberty.

Mom-of-three Ella Brookbanks was so fed up with her 14-year-old son’s moody behaviour that she decided to put him up for sale for free on Facebook. “Teenager – 14 years old – but thinks he’s 32 – could pass for 4 though,” the hysterical mom wrote in a post to Facebook. “Free to a good loving home, after all we only want the best don’t we.”

“He is sold with only 1 complete outfit because he just doesn’t agree with wearing anything else other than the torn & ripped skinny jeans & a green battered top from H&M (and the cap) – but he does come with gel for ever-changing hairstyles & 2 alternating skateboards for ‘Happy play days at multistory’ & ‘Moody play days at The Carrs’ – teenager will find it difficult to express which skateboard he his preferring at any given time – and this will be your problem,” she explained.

“Qualities include door slamming, wearing battered looking trainers in the house, spending more time on his hair than his showers, mood swings, not having the energy to hoover his room but having the energy to skateboard. He is polite enough but be wary about taking him out in public – because although he is used to people, you never can tell whether he’ll have a good enough social response to any situation – a soft grunt now covers most basic conversations – followed by the dreaded eye roll. Serious enquiries only – no time wasters please,” said Brookbanks, whose mother-in-law commented that she still had about two more years of this if he was anything like his father.
