Every parent knows that at some point their child is going to fall down and that getting hurt is unavoidable especially when they’re on the playground or at recess.

However, parents do expect that they’ll be notified immediately when their child gets hurt while at daycare or at school, which is why one mom is so upset after her son’s school failed to contact her and tell her that her son was badly injured while out on the playground.

When 9-year-old Brayden Daniels got home from school, his mom Shawnna asked him to bring his bag upstairs to his room like she did every day. “He came home and I told him, ‘I need you to carry your bag to your room,'” Daniels said. “He started to pick up his bag and started bawling. I said, ‘Brayden what’s wrong with you?'”

Brayden told his mom how he had fallen off the slide at school earlier at recess and got a bloody nose, a chipped tooth, and pain in his arms, which was excruciating when he tried to pick anything up. Shawnna drove her son straight to the hospital where they discovered he had broken both of his arms.

“They should have at least notified me. Even with a bloody nose and a broken tooth she should have looked at him, but she told him to ‘go clean up your face and go back to class,'” said Shawnna, who has since enrolled Brayden at a nearby charter school.

How would you feel if your child got severely injured at school and you were not notified? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends and parents on Facebook.

Animal rescue teams spend their lives saving dogs who were abused or neglected, and unfortunately, it takes a lot to truly shock them anymore.

However, one RSPCA team in the UK was speechless after discovering an abandoned dog who had a massive gash in the side of his neck, which they described as ‘one of the worst wounds’ they had ever seen. The puppy, who is just eight months old, had been left to die in the street when rescuers found him.

“Poor Guinness was in such a bad way when we picked him up. He had a huge open and infected wound on his neck,” inspector Joe White said. “It looks as though he had been left with a collar on that was far too small for him and it had gradually cut into his neck. The wound was gaping and looked as though his collar had gone the whole way round his neck.”

“I could not believe it – it was one of the worst wounds I have seen in my whole time as an RSPCA inspector. It is so deep and looks extremely painful. I have seen some awful things but this one really hit me,” White said. “He is only around eight months old and so friendly and full of love despite everything he has been through. He didn’t even whimper when vets were treating him.”

Luckily the puppy got treated immediately at the RSPCA Harmsworth Hospital in London and is supposed to make a full recovery. “How anyone could neglect this poor puppy in this way and ignore such an awful wound that so obviously needed treatment is just beyond me,” said White, who is trying to figure out who is responsible for this disgusting abuse. “At the moment we are trying to find his owner. He has a chip but the details are not up to date. On his chip he is simply known as Puppy Number 2. It is so very sad.”

Can you believe someone would do this to an innocent puppy? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

When Chelsee Lopez got home from work at 1 a.m. one night, she noticed a big black dog running near her car.

Since Lopez had never seen the dog before, she worried he might be aggressive, so she used caution when approaching. “I noticed that she didn’t have a collar but her fur on her neck looked like there used to be one there,” Lopez told The Dodo. “I could tell she was a family dog, so I assumed she just got out of someone’s yard or something.” Not thinking much of it, Lopez left food and water on her porch for the dog; then she went inside to bed.

She figured the dog would eventually head home, but she never did. The poor door sat on the porch the entire night crying. Lopez played with her a little before she went to class, and when she returned home, the dog who she began calling Maggie, was still there. “I just kept thinking that someone would be looking for her, or she would go home,” Lopez said.

She took pictures of Maggie and walked around the neighborhood, hoping someone would recognize her. Maggie followed her the entire time, in desperate need of attention. That night, Lopez and her husband took Maggie into their home, and the next day they brought her to an animal control officer, who took her to a shelter.

“My husband and I fell in love with her and wanted to make sure she was alright,” Lopez said. “So we would visit as much as we could, and on days we couldn’t visit her, we called up there to see if her family claimed her. We wanted it to work out for her so bad.” The Lopez family waited one week for Maggie’s owners to come forward, but they never did. After that, Maggie went up for adoption.

“We showed up as soon as the shelter opened to take her home,” Lopez said. As much as the Lopez’s wanted Maggie to return to her original home, when that didn’t happen, they were more than happy to take her now. Now, as Lopez described to the Dodo, Maggie “is the glue to the family.”

The couple already had a dog named Charlie, and while they were scared at first that he wouldn’t get along with Maggie, Lopez says that almost immediately, Maggie worked her way into Charlie’s heart too. “When we brought her home, they fell in love with each other,” Lopez said. “He no longer barks when we leave the house, as long as Maggie is there.

Maggie was getting along famously with the entire family, but a few months ago, Lopez noticed Maggie started losing weight, and after seeing a vet, Maggie was diagnosed with diabetes

Since her diagnosis, Maggie has lost a lot of her sight, but she’s still the happiest dog ever thanks to her parents and doggy siblings. Lopez says she’s happy Maggie showed up on her porch because “she was meant for us.”

Blind Dog Is Helped By Sister Who Acts As Seeing Eye Poodle

Sometimes, we get by with just a little help from out friends.

Take, for example, the blind poodle who gets by with a little help from her sister who acts as her seeing-eye dog.

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
Margaux, the dog, is a 12-year-old poodle with an attitude that’s better than an optimist on happy pills. Her parents, Scott and Laura Jordan, had to have the dog’s eyes removed. Shortly after that surgery, they found she had also lost her hearing, dramatically decreasing her quality of life, though you’d never know based on the smile spanning Margaux’s face.

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
The Jordan’s thought putting down the beloved dog might be the best thing to do, but they couldn’t bring themselves to it when the saw how happy the dog still continued to be.

“We didn’t know what to do at first. She’s 12 and has had a great life,” Scott writes on Facebook. “But my wife and I decided she deserved a chance to continue on so long as she had some quality of life, which we decided was possible. We realized this would take a lot of work.”

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
Fortunately, Margaux has three sisters Chloe, Susie, and Rhonda, who act as her seeing and hearing companions. The Jordan’s take Margaux on guided hikes and use the other dogs to help her navigate.

“It’s been an amazing journey watching her adapt to her new world, and better – start thriving in it,” the Jordans say in an email to PEOPLE. “We started a Facebook group to tell her story and have been amazed to see just how many peoples’ lives Margaux’s story has affected.”

Quebec Woman Dupes Boyfriend Into Believing She’s Having Quintuplets

A Quebec woman experienced a ‘phantom pregnancy’ a month after meeting her boyfriend online.

Paul Servat said he was devastated when he found out that Barbara Bienvenue had never been pregnant at all. The couple met in mid-2013 and became serious after Bienvenue said she was pregnant, one month after they met online.

[journaldemontreal]
[journaldemontreal]
That pregnancy then turned into twins, triplets, quadruplets, and finally quintuplets. Bienvenue not only duped her boyfriend, but also her community, who showered the couple with gifts. Geneviève Laflamme, who is a mother of triplets herself, told CTV Montreal that she gave Bienvenue tips on how to handle the pregnancy, where to find financial support, and how to get sponsorship for diapers.

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
Bienvenue didn’t hesitate to apply these practices, and the couple raked in donations of diapers, formula, and furniture. But Bienvenue was never pregnant. She was simply experiencing a “phantom pregnancy,” a psychological case known as pseudocyesis in which a woman experiences all the symptoms of pregnancy.

According to WebMDsymptoms of pseudocyesis include interruption of the menstrual period, swollen belly, enlarged and tender breasts, changes in the nipples, and possibly milk production, a feeling of fetal movements, nausea and vomiting, weight gain, and even labor pains.

So Bienvenue hadn’t just duped her boyfriend into believing the pregnancy, she may have even duped herself. But this wasn’t even the first time duping was done.

A relative told QMI Agency, “this isn’t the first time she’s done it. But honestly, we never would have thought she was sick enough to do it again.”

Servat said he was devastated when the couple showed up to the delivery room and were told doctors had no record of her medical records. In fact, the only records doctors did have was a blood test showing Bienvenue was not pregnant. Servat said he is no longer seeing Bienvenue, who is undergoing a psychological evaluation. He also returned or donated all the gifts the couple had received.

Perhaps next time he’ll think twice before he signs up for online dating.

Note: This article contains graphic content that may be upsetting to some readers.

When a woman spotted a man beating his dog in the street, she couldn’t just ignore what she was witnessing.

Instead, she followed the man and the suffering canine and made one demand- for him to give up the dog. Brianne Smith tells Fox 2 Detroit that she was at her job at the corner of Eight Mile and Schaefer in Detroit when she saw the incident. “To be honest I was very high on emotion after he seeing him kick the dog, his dog got slammed in the door of a car. I freaked out,” Smith said.  “Once I confronted him and threatened to call police, he took off the other way.”

The dog managed to come back, but the man was nowhere to be found. “A couple of hours later when I was told the dog was back and was severely bleeding, we found him running down this way. He ran right down those paths and about two houses, he went into a neighbor’s yard to lay in peace. I got some food and brought him all the way back to this gate. I wrapped him up in a couple of blankets I had in my car and waited for the rescue to come get him,” Smith said.

The poor dog wound up having surgery and on Thursday, Fox 2 learned that the dog had a bullet stuck in his nose that later removed during surgery. The dog is now named Diesel, and Smith is hoping she can adopt him. He’s currently in the care of the Detroit Dog Rescue who is working with the Michigan anti-cruelty society to get the animal in DDR’s care. Diesel will need to be healthy before Smith can adopt him, but when he’s ready, she’s more than happy to give him a loving and safe home.

When a couple adopted a dog, they were unsure how she would get along with their other animals.

Macy Thorne, Opal’s mom, told The Dodo that Opal’s parents adopted her from a local animal shelter in mid-September after fostering her for a few weeks. Opal, who’s now 6-years-old, seems to be adoring her new home, but she’s taken a particular liking to a tiny kitten

Thorne and her husband were so thrilled about how great of an experience adopting Opal turned out to be, and they considering adopting a kitten too. Unsure of how Opal would react, Thorne decided to cat-sit her sister’s boyfriend 6-week-old kitten, Roxxy. “We weren’t entirely sure how Opal would respond to the kitten,” Thorne said. “We have no idea of Opal’s past before the shelter and had no way of knowing if she would be okay with cats.”

But sure enough, when Roxxy arrived she let out a loud meow, and from that moment on, Opal was in love. “Opal loved Roxxy from the minute she saw her,” Thorne told The Dodo. “She immediately went in Mommy mode. Opal kept trying to clean her, pick her up, followed Roxxy everywhere she went.”

Roxxy had never met a dog before, but with Opal, it was love at first sight. Now, where ever Roxxy goes, Opal goes too. She refuses to let the kitten out of her sight and treats her like her own baby. While Roxxy does need to return to her owners, the Thorne’s now will definitely be adopted a kitten for Opal.

Eleven-year-old Brandon was adopted by Brandy Bakke when he was just a boy, but by the time he was old enough to ask about his biological dad, he had passed.

Brandy Bakke, told Today that she knew about Brandon’s biological mom but had to do some digging to find information on his biological dad. Once she got in contact with Brandon’s biological sister, Tiffany, through Facebook, she learned that Brandon’s father passed away at the age of 56 from an asthma attack.

Bakke asked Tiffany is she would take Brandon to visit their dad’s grave in Chicago, and she agreed, but warned that nothing is marking their father’s grave because the family couldn’t afford a monument. This made Brandon somber, and he told TODAY, “When I found out my dad’s grave didn’t have a stone, I got really sad and thought if I did something for him, he’d be proud.” So a couple of days later, he came to his mom with $175 he earned moving lawns and when she told him it was going to be more than that, he said that he was willing to work harder.

Bakke says, “My husband and I were very proud of him and were going to support him in any way we could to help make it happen.” After taking up other jobs in addition to mowing lawns, Brandon ended up raising $400. Bakke then called a gravestone company to ask about pricing, and once she shared the family’s story, they decided to provide one at no cost.

They even let Brandon design it himself! “I asked Tiffany about my dad since I didn’t know him and she said he was always helping people and loved to cook,” Brandon said. “After she said that, I knew exactly what I wanted to put on there.” Brandon chose a design of a heart and two hands holding a bowl of soup to signify his dad feeding the homeless, and on Oct. 20, they family placed it on his father’s grave.

Over a dozen biological family members showed up, and “it was a very emotional day for Brandon,” Bakke said. “As much as he loved meeting his biological family, who are all kind, wonderful and supportive, it saddened him to know he’ll never meet his dad.” After spending time with his biological and adopted family, Brandon became so inspired by the outpour of love, that he started a lawn mowing and snow removal business called “Mowing and Blowing for a Purpose.”

The majority of the money he makes will go towards a memorial stone fund he set up to help families honor their lost loved ones, even if they can’t afford it. Brandon’s mission is to “make sure nobody goes unknown in life.” “I always wanted to meet my dad and wish I could’ve before he died,” Brandon told TODAY. “I know he would’ve loved to meet me and would be proud to call me his son.”

Parents are supposed to keep their kids safe and know where they are at all times.

That’s exactly why one Tennessee dad was stunned when he found a toddler walking alone in the street during the middle of the night.

When Soloman Jones, a father from Memphis, got back to his house just before three in the morning with his friend, they sat down in front of his home and started talking about their night, since they figured no one else would be up at the time. However, before long, they heard a faint cry and realized a toddler was walking their way.

“We were outside sitting and talking about the night and he told me, he said, ‘I see a baby coming,'” said Jones. “I didn’t believe him, so I looked and there was a little baby.” The two-year-old was in tears and wasn’t wearing a jacket. She was clearly very lost.

Jones quickly picked her up and assured her that everything would be ok, but was stunned that the girl’s parents could be so irresponsible. “You knew she was scared because she was just walking and crying, so when we were holding her, she was holding on to us tight,” he said.

They attempted to find her home but called the police when the girl couldn’t point out where her house was. “Luckily God left us out here,” Jones said as his friend filmed. “I don’t know who this child belongs to man, so yeah, we’re getting the police out here.”

Luckily, police were able to track down the girl’s home and her parents nearby, who thanked Jones for finding their little girl and keeping her safe.

“I don’t think I’m a hero,” he said. “I think I’m just somebody doing my part for the community, doing my part to keep people safe. I’d want somebody to do that for my little girl.”

A mother will do just about anything to help their child, especially when they’re sick or suffering, which is why one mom decided to do something illegal to help her daughter suffering from scary seizures.

After one Idaho 3-year-old was taken off a prescription anti-psychotic medication, she began suffering from seizures and hallucinations, however, one morning in October, the little girl’s seizures were worse than ever before. “They would stop and come back, stop and come back with the hallucinations and everything else,” mom Kelsey Osborne said.

Nothing Osborne did helped Madyson’s seizures, so she decided to make her daughter a smoothie with marijuana butter in it. “Everything stopped 30 minutes later,” said Osborne. “To me, I felt like it was my last resort. I’ve seen it for my own eyes with people out of state who have used it and it’s helped them or their children.”

However, marijuana is still illegal in Idaho, so when Osborne took her daughter to the doctor after getting her to calm down, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare was called when Madyson tested positive for marijuana. Osborne was immediately charged with misdemeanor injury to a child and has since lost custody of her children.

“I didn’t ever think it would come down to this, but it did. It tore me apart,” said Osborne, who is sharing her story to spark medical marijuana reform and is protesting until she gets her kids back.”It’s something that I’m going to fight for and I’m not going to give up until I have them back home where they have been begging me to be. I’m not going to stop. I won’t stop. If it takes me two years, then it’s going to take me two years.”

Starving Dog Covered In Matted Fur Ate Pebbles To Fill Her Belly

Most people have no idea what could make someone abuse or neglect a defenseless animal.

However, one rescue team has been left completely baffled after discovering a family that treated one of their dogs like a princess, yet left the other to starve and die in the basement.

“It’s really an odd story. It’s almost a Cinderella story,” Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said after rescuers discovered a Michigan family with two dogs, which were treated drastically different. Christopher Penn, his wife, Sonja Sturdivant, and her son, Demico Knight Jr., doted on their bulldog, yet kept their 7-year-old Shih Tzu named Elvira locked in the basement where she almost died.

“This poor dog was treated horrifically with no care,” Smith said. “This dog was tortured, abused, neglected.” When Macomb County Animal Control first got ahold of Elvira, her feces and dirt covered fur was so matted that it covered her face. It wasn’t until the team started shaving away the matted fur that they realized the extent of her suffering.

Elvira had a broken paw, which had been matted so badly that it fell off after being shaved. The team also discovered several other broken bones in her legs, which were bent from the matting, that were left untreated, deep skin ulcerations, pebbles in her stomach, and total blindness in one of her eyes.

“That dog was abused in every way possible, except its heart,” said Smith about the sweet dog who is now doing much better and is recovering with her foster family. Now, Smith is charging each of Elvira’s three original owners with torturing an animal, a four-year felony.

“One look at this poor creature will break your heart, and fill you with anger at the individuals who allowed this to take place,” Smith said. “From within, we should feel a sacred duty to nurture the animals in our care and shield them from harm. Cruelty and neglect on this scale shocks us to the core, and rest assured we will hold them accountable.”

Police are used to catching people with unusual and sometimes incriminating objects during routine traffic stops.

However, Australian police officers were completely speechless by what they discovered in one woman’s purse.

At around 8:55 on Sunday night, police officers pulled over a 50-year-old East Brisbane woman. However, after looking her name up in the system, they arrested her for ‘outstanding matters.’ And when the police asked the woman if she had anything to declare while they detained her, she admitted that she had a baby koala in her zipped up canvas bag.

“Not quite believing their ears the officers cautiously unzipped the bag and found this gorgeous boy,” the Upper Mount Gravatt Tactical Crime Squad explained. According to the woman, she had found the 6-month-old koala on the side of the road the previous night, and she had planned on bringing him home and caring for him, which is illegal without a special permit.

“There are many firsts in our job and last night was one of those for officers from the Upper Mount Gravatt Tactical Crime Squad,” the police said in an official statement. Luckily, the koala was in good health. “He’s been on fluids but is doing well and will shortly be going out to a carer,” said RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty.“He weighs 1.5 kg and we’ve called him Alfred.”

Now, the police and the RSPCA are sharing the incident to show what not to do if you find a koala, who is protected under the Nature Conservation Act, or any other wild animal. “Often the animal may have no obvious signs of injury, but it can have internal injuries that need immediate attention,” the team explained.

He also gets creative with his works, for example, the above image of a cowboy riding a dinosaur.

Lopez began as a bronze worker but discovered that salvaged metal had a great deal more flexibility.

“My favorite part about these pieces is the texture,” explains Lopez.

“I just start grabbin’ stuff from the pile and welding it, in and if you weld enough of the same thing on over and over it creates this really cool texture that I’ve never seen in these kinds of pieces before. And I think that’s what draws people in.”

Lopez’s work has a respectful attitude for the past, while also bringing a delightful image of the present.

Set on the beautiful landscape of Western America, Lopez’ work is eerily beautiful and poignant.

It’s almost nostalgic in its own way. Combined with the fact that all his work is made of  useless gears and forgotten knick knacks, the work itself contains a piece of the past.

How does a person accidentally steal somebody else’s car?

If you ask Erin Hatzi of Portland, Oregon, she’ll tell you grand theft auto can accidentally happen when stars align in just the right way.

Hatzi had her red Subaru parked in her driveway and when she woke up for work one morning, it was gone. She took a look at the footage that was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and was baffled by what appeared.

A stranger approach the car, sat inside for a few minutes, and then drove off like she was on her way to the grocery store.

Hatzi was more than perplexed by the strange behavior. Something just didn’t sit right with her. Why would a thief have such a cavalier attitude when stealing her car?

Hatzi scoured her local Craigslist page to see if her red Subaru had been stripped for parts, but came up with nothing. When she woke up the following day, the story got even stranger. In her driveway was the red Subaru with a note explaining the whole confusing mixup.

“Hello, So sorry I stole your car. I sent my friend with my key to pick up my red subaru at 7802 SE Woodstock and she came back with your car. I did not see the car until this morning and I said, ‘that is not my car.’ There is some cash for gas and I more than apologize for the shock and upset this must have caused you. If you need to speak further, with me, I am ******* and my number is ……….
So so sorry for this mistake.”

Apparently, the keys used by past Subaru models come with a serious flaw. They are accidentally interchangeable and under the right circumstances, a stranger could easily steal your car. Of course, this issue has since been resolved, but imagine the roller coaster this Subaru owner rode that day.

A spokesman from the hotel said, “during the time that we believe the woman was under the bed, several people checked into the room and slept with the body underneath the bed.”

The hotel staff said that the woman had checked in with a male companion, but there is no security footage available of either her or her companion.

Pet owners in the Tucson, Arizona area are being warned about a potentially deadly outbreak of a virus killing dogs in the community.

The disease, known as canine parvovirus (or simply parvo) can affect dogs even if they are fully grown and vaccinated. Parvo resurfaces every few years, leaving a wake of sick dogs in its path.

According to KGUN-TV in Tucson, Marana Parks and Recreation officials say veterinarians believe parvo is spreading among multiple dogs in the Southern Arizona area, some of which have died.

Animal control is urging people to pick up after dogs when at dog parks and other public spaces to keep the disease from spreading.

The Twin Peaks Veterinary Center in Tucson has already seen nearly 20 cases. The staff there say at least one case involved a dog that had picked up the illness from a dog park. If you are in the area, vets are encouraging dog owners to steer clear of dog parks for a few weeks until the incidents have blown over.

Parvo symptoms develop within 3 to 7 days and include lethargy, vomiting, fever, and diarrhea (usually containing blood).
