Dog Whose Favorite Toy Is A Santa Doll Freaks Out When She Meets The Real Deal

There’s nothing more exciting than meeting your favorite celebrity, especially if your icon is none other than Kris Kringle himself.

A sweet dog named Kyra, all her wishes came true when she went to the mall and had the chance to meet the man himself.

[Instagram]
[Instagram]
Kyra has had a favorite toy for months now: a ratty old, winking Santa doll that Kyra has been loving since the day she got him.  And when her owners took the pup to meet the real deal, she couldn’t contain her excitement. The owners noted that the encounter was a rambunctious one at first; Kyra would not calm down. However, with time, they managed to chill her out and then she just sat there like the peaceful and happy pooch she is.

[Instagram]
She even sat there was a look of amazement splayed across her face. See, this is why we love dogs. All it takes to make their day is a seat on Santa’s lap. Humans, on the other hand, are much harder to please and will use the meet-and-greet with Santa to tell him what they want. Kyra, however, was simply grateful to be there.

There are two kinds of teachers in this world: those who say they don’t have favorites…and those who aren’t liars!

For Phoenix, AZ teacher Jodi Kacz, she didn’t even attempt to hide the fact that she had a favorite student. The 45-year-old woman has always wanted to have kids of her own, however, she couldn’t due to a heart condition.

Then, a young boy named Orlando walked into her class. In 2014, Orlando made the decision to take a reading intervention class voluntarily. He was a good student who struggled in some areas, but still kept his pace.

[KGW8]
[KGW8]
Kacz even recalls telling her husband that if there was one student she’d adopt, it would be Orlando. In fact, she did want to adopt him. Unable to have kids of their own, the couple always said they would be open to adoption and the star-student Kacz admired so dearly was a contender on that list.

It may have been destiny when Kacz found out that the child was in fact a child from foster care. Having no family of his own, he was in need of somebody who could take him in. When Kacz found this out, the pieces fell into place and now, two years later, the family has been official with a legal adoption.

[Irish Independent]

A woman from Ireland flew 3,600 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to be a bridesmaid in the wedding of somebody she had never met.

The incredible story goes back 16 years when Joanne White, from Dundalk, began writing to Kim Marciniack of Indianapolis was a student at Faughart National School. White’s teacher had the class become pen pals with a handful of students spanning the globe.

[ShutterStock]
[ShutterStock]
While White made loose connections with all her pen pals, she and Marciniak held onto a lifelong friendship that started with letters and was made stronger with the introduction of social media. The two would write to each other every two weeks or so, exchanging what happened in their lives, as well as small gifts when holidays and birthdays came around.

So, when Marciniack got married recently, White hopped on a plane and across the pond to stand at the side of her lifelong friend. After all, not many people can claim they’ve been friends with a stranger for 16 years.

[ShutterStock]
[ShutterStock]
To top off the adorable story, White’s own boyfriend proposed in New York as the couple made their way back to Ireland at the end of the trip. She said yes, and it looks like Marciniack will be making the jump across the pond for her friend now.

A brave Florida manatee has a second chance at life thanks to quick-thinking first responders who rushed to the threatened animal’s rescue.

While it’s not unusual to find a tiny kitten or baby bird become trapped in a storm drain in most parts of the world, Floridians tend to have a wider variety of animals who find themselves in need of human assistance.

According to local outlet First Coast News, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue department worked tirelessly for hours Wednesday to save a manatee trapped under the city in a storm drain.

[Jacksonville.com]
[Jacksonville.com]
Rescuers had to excavate the pipe to rescue the 9-foot-long West Indian sea cow, who was believed to gotten lost and floated in through the nearby Ortega River.

A construction worker spotted the poor animal floating in the pipe while laying pavement and the saga of trying to save the injured animal began. Thankfully, the heroes were able to save the manatee by cutting through the pipe and placing her in a bag to be lifted.

Up until earlier in 2016, Florida manatees were on the endangered species list, yet they have thankfully been downgraded to just “threatened animals,” as their population grew.

First Coast News, who live-streamed much the heart-pounding ordeal, revealed the manatee was alive, but in bad condition and will be taken to Sea World Orlando for rehabilitation and treatment. Sources confirmed a Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens vet also assessed the animal after its traumatic day.

Here at LifeDaily, we love hearing about amazing animal rescues, especially when the heroes are regular people who were in the right place at the right time and decided to follow their hearts.

More often than not, we see dogs getting themselves into some pretty crazy situations. Whether they’re winding up on adventures perfect for the silver screen like this brave pup or just getting caught digging through a neighbor’s garden, our canine companions are always causing chaos, but we’ve never seen a rescue quite like the one below.

[Rumble]
[Rumble]
Local residents in Peru band together when a sweet, stray dog found herself stuck in a hole underground while searching for food. In the video below from Rumble, we see the community of heroes come together to help the poor and frightened pooch by feeding her snacks and water until they came up with a plan to get the dog out.

[Rumble]

The poor pup was terrified to have her tiny head stuck in the hole, underneath the ground, while a group of strangers stood and watched. The street dog clearly wasn’t used to human interaction, but in his time of desperation, he accepted the love and compassion from the neighborly good Samaritans.

Hero Puppy Saves Teenage Owner Who Was About To Be Raped

Dogs can become extremely protective of their owners, even at just a few months old. So when one 5-month-old pitbull puppy realized his owner was in trouble, he didn’t hesitate to take on a full grown human.

18-year-old Maya Fairweather took her boyfriend’s new puppy named Apollo out for a walk this past Monday night in Brooklyn. Maya had put her headphones in to listen to music after she let Apollo off his leash, and watched as he burned off some of his endless energy in the park.

“I felt someone pull my headphones,” Maya said. “I thought it was my boyfriend grabbing me, so I turned around and smiled — but it wasn’t my boyfriend.” Instead, it was an unknown man who then pushed her to the ground and started to pull off her pants.“I fell down on my hands,” she said. “I just closed my eyes because they say that if you see their face, they will kill you. I froze. I was really scared.”

But when Apollo realized Maya was being attacked, he came running at her attacker and bit his leg so hard that the man struggled to shake him off. “I heard him say, ‘F–k!’ and I was able to run away. I ran across the street,” Maya said.“He is a sweet dog. I never thought he would bite anyone. He never bit anyone before. He’s usually very friendly and just jumps on everyone,” said Maya, who is grateful for her protector. “He was protective. I think it would’ve been a lot worse. I wouldn’t have been so lucky… I think he saved my life.”

Cops are currently searching for Maya’s attacker, who ran off after Apollo let go, but everyone can agree that without Apollo, things would have ended very differently. “I really never wanted that dog. But you have to give him credit,” Carlos Guzman’s mother, Sonia Valcarcel, said. “The dog is a hero, he protected her. I’m sad she had to go through that, but at least, because of the dog, she was able to escape.”

Maggie showcased her skills in a video that recently went viral thanks to viktoroh via Rumble. The smart dog’s owners pulled out an even smarter phone and turned up a ditty that was in tempo with the dog’s tune. Vet Fixes Beaten Dog’s Broken Neck With Cement And Screws

For the past 26 years, Doctor Noel Fitzpatrick has dedicated his life to helping animals by using his veterinary skills to save the sick and injured.

However, even after 26 years of experience, Fitzpatrick wasn’t sure even he could fix a dog who was brutally beaten and left ‘within two millimeters’ of death. “We have reason to believe that someone hit this dog,” he said. “They bashed Wobble on the back of the neck, and that caused a compression fracture, which is squishing down on the spinal cord and that is causing quite a lot of pain… obviously the spinal cord conducts the nerves, and the legs are wobbling. It is very sad.”

Spinal injuries are often very delicate and tricky injuries to fix, however, fixing the dog nicknamed ‘Wobble’ would be even more difficult since she is a whippet.

“There is a risk of death; there’s no way of telling you that kindly because this is a big deal,” Fitzpatrick said.”The thing with Wobble is the bone in a whippet is incredibly fine, they are built for speed and agility, so their bone is wafer thin. I’m going to have to be super careful because one false move here and you get the pain in the spinal cord and you get a dead dog.”

To save Wobble and keep her from spending the rest of her life paralyzed, Fitzpatrick performed a high-risk surgery to push the damaged vertebrae apart and created a spacing device that would sit between the two squashed vertebrae. To lock everything in place, Fitzpatrick carefully placed two pins in the spacer and sealed it all with surgical cement.

Luckily, the surgery went well and Wobble was miraculously up and moving the next morning.”Last night she was within two millimeters of her life,” Fitzpatrick said. “If this were you or me we would have a big neck brace on and we’d be in bed for a few weeks. I never cease to be amazed by dogs.”

“How can you not give a dog like this a chance?” she said about the dog she renamed Minnie who was walking perfectly just weeks after the surgery. “That is the special thing about rescue dogs, you see what they are like in the beginning and then what they become. It’s miraculous.”

Man Rescues Dog After Being Swallowed Whole By Quicksand

Dog owners often let their dogs off the leash while out on a walk, so they can run around and burn off some energy. However, one UK man learned the hard way that a walk can be deadly for a dog if you let them out of your sight.

Paul Stott, 51, had taken his three-month-old Chihuahua mix and two other dogs out for a walk with his girlfriend Kyla Holmes and let him off his leash to run around like he always did on walks. The Chihuahua, named Dave, ran ahead of the couple, but then suddenly disappeared.

Luckily, Kyla saw him disappear into the sand, ran to the spot where he vanished, and reached into the ground, which ended up being a pit of quicksand, and pulled him free. “He went underneath the sand completely and disappeared,” Stott said. “If Kyla had not seen him go under we would not have known where he was. He made no sound and he was just gone. He would have just disappeared without a trace. Kyla rushed over and stuck her arm in and pulled him out. He had been completely submerged but he was fine. It was very lucky.”

“At first we were just pleased to have got Dave out OK. He was fine, he just shook it off and went on his way. I think we were more shocked by it than him. However, as we walked away, we realized how dangerous it really was. I thought if small children who could easily end up in it, or other dogs. Even horses walk on that beach and their legs would go down it,” Stott said.

“So I went back and filmed myself putting my arm in to see how deep it was. I couldn’t’ believe it. My arm went in it five feet but I didn’t touch the bottom. It was definitely deeper than that. It was two or three feet across too,” said Stott who shared his story and video to warn how dangerous quicksand is. “People need to know what to look for and how to identify one of these holes as they are hard to spot but there are signs.”

Unlikely Friendship That’s Lasted A Lifetime Has 85-Year-Old Serving As Flower Girl

Typically, the duty of a flower girl is reserved for young girls, but in the case of two unexpected best friends, an 85-year-old woman took the lead in the unlikely role.

In early November, Theresa Whitehead tied the knot with a 1980’s themed wedding. Appropriately, she had a member of the wedding party who was really rocking that 80’s theme. Not only did she live through the 80’s, she was also in her 80’s.

[ShutterStock]
Dee Cooper was 48 when she met Whitehead, who was just 14. A band brought them together, as music often does. Whitehead’s brother was playing and Cooper was there to see her nephew. For whatever reason, the two hit it off and began seeing each other regularly.

Now, four decades later, they are still great friends, such good friends, in fact, that Whitehead asked Cooper to be her flower girl at her wedding.

Cooper said her main concern was that she wouldn’t be able to make it to the wedding. She was 84 at the time of the wedding and just turned 85 last week.

Cooper said everybody wonders about their friendship because of the stark age difference, however, it doesn’t seem to bother the two. “It is unconventional. It certainly is and everybody wonders about that because I’m older and she’s younger, but you know what, I kind of like it,” said Cooper.

Playful Golden Retriever Turns His Tail Into A Trap For His Young Master

screen-shot-2016-12-01-at-3-38-52-pm

We finally have an answer to the age-old question, of what a dog would do with his tail if he actually caught it.

Obviously, he would trap and trip his young master and make him bend to his will (or at least bend over in a fit of giggles)!

That’s exactly what happened for a Gold Retriever whose antics will make your day. The pooch discovered that not only is chasing your tail a fabulous way for a dog to stay occupied for hours (in addition to chasing that pesky little red bug that you can never catch).

[NOBODY BEATS THE DRUM via Youtube]
[NOBODY BEATS THE DRUM via Youtube]
The pooch turned his tail into a trap when he tugged on his tail and became a modern-day depiction of ancient Egyptian iconography. The pooch then used the clever trap to catch his prey (8-year-old Jacob) and not let go.

Fortunately, Mom and Dad caught the whole thing on camera. Not only is it the cutest thing you’ll see all day, but it also proves just how clever man’s best friend can be. Don’t believe me? See for yourself with the video below and share your thoughts in the comments.

Doctors Insist Boy Has ADHD, Moms Demands More Answers And Gets Them

[Kara Anderson]

It seems pediatricians these days are very quick to diagnose their patients with ADHD these days, but the following story has us thinking twice…

At least, that’s what Kara Anderson thought when doctors confirmed her son was acting up due to ADHD, according to WSB-TV. But this didn’t sit right with the mother. Docile 9-year-old Ian had been calm and easy-going his whole life and then, in a matter of months, he turned into a terror.

[Kara Anderson]
[Kara Anderson]
Despite multiple doctor’s visits and a boatload of routine tests, all doctors agreed the boy was suffering from behavioral and emotional issues. The official diagnoses was ADHD and bipolar disorder, and while it explained the bad attitude, acting up, and sudden mood swings, it didn’t explain the headaches or vomiting the boy had been suffering from for too long.

So Mom kept pushing and the answers were startling. After a brain scan, the results came back that her son had a large tumor pressing on his brain, the part of the brain, in fact, that controls behavioral issues. Ian had a brain tumor, a Grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma. The rare tumor only affects 250 children a year.

[Kara Anderson]
[Kara Anderson]
Ian had a large amount of the tumor removed back in October and he’s been on the rebound since then, but Mom is still shaken up by how easily the cause went misdiagnosed.

You just never know what a driver’s dashboard camera might catch in the heat of the moment.

And as you can see in this shocking dashboard video, anyone can become a hero when they’re in the right place at the right time. Rumble user Welshdrive learned this while cruising through the countryside with his camera rolling.

The driver stopped when he approached a large, black dog who looked scared and lost in the middle of a busy road. “It is not recommended to approach an unfamiliar dog, but the location and size of the dog meant it was only a matter of time before it got hit, possibly injuring people and killing the dog,” Welshdrive explained.

Luckily, the clip below shows that the lost dog was friendly and eventually showed his stranger-turned-hero that he could make his way home on his own, eventually running back to his home about 800 yards from the road.

[Rumble]
[Rumble]
“Treat animals as you would treat humans, they have every right to live and be treated well,” Welshdrive wrote on the video below. “If you see a dog running loose on the road don’t ignore it, be the person who saves it!”

Mom’s Secret Password With Her Son Saved Him From ‘Stranger Danger’

Parents, let this serve as a warning and a lesson: passwords aren’t just for computers. They can save your child’s life too.

A brave Cub Scout learned a very important lesson on “stranger danger,” which may have prevented him from being abducted. The 8-year-old was waiting for a ride with his fellow Cub Scout outside the Church where they usually meet. That’s when a stranger pulled up in a truck and told the boys the mother couldn’t make it to get them and she had sent him instead.

The boys say a stranger pulled up in a pickup truck and claimed he was their ride. [ShutterStock]

But that’s when the first boy asked for a password. His mother had prepared him for situations like this and the two had a secret password. If anybody ever tried to come on herself behalf, this person had to know a password. When the boy pressed for the password, the stranger got scared and ran off and the boys ran back into the Church to inform Cub Scout leaders of what had happened.

The grateful mother is happy she thought to try this parenting hack with her kid, and the child was shaken up by the situation, but fortunately, no issues have come of it.

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to see their child in danger or in pain, which is why one horrified UK mom is warning others of the one thing to do to keep their child safe in their home.

42-year-old mom Karen Shelley was home watching her son Riley play with her 1-year-old son, Louis, when she noticed her playful 2-year-old climb up onto a windowsill. “He was sitting on the windowsill as I went out into the kitchen. I was only out there a little while when I noticed he had stood up,” Shelley remembers.

“I told him to get down as it was dangerous, but as he went to step down on to the settee, he grabbed the blind cord that was hanging down behind the curtain.” However, as he jumped down, the cord accidentally wrapped around his neck and pulled him back up so he was hanging in mid air.

“It was literally a few seconds but the color went out of his face immediately and his eyes were bulging,” said Shelley, who collapsed when she saw Riley’s limp body. “It’s just something you never want to see – you’re child just hanging there lifeless. It was awful. I honestly thought he had died.” Shelley rushed Riley to the hospital where doctors thankfully determined that he had not been seriously injured.

Now, Shelley is sharing the nightmare incident to warn parents about how dangerous loose blind cords are. “If something like this could happen while he was being supervised, it’s scary to think of what could happen to a child when they’re in their bedrooms or playing alone… If anyone has cords hanging and has children please just cut it…so what if it don’t look nice!! You don’t want to see what I did.”

Miracle Dog Recovers After Rescuers Find Her Being Eaten Alive

Unfortunately, animal rescuers who work at the RSPCA and shelters are quite used to getting calls about stray and neglected animals in dire situations.

However, when RSPCA inspector James Arentz got a call from a concerned neighbor about a neglected dog named Mollie, he wasn’t too worried since the person didn’t make it seem like she was in bad shape. To be safe, Arentz decided to stop by to check the dog, who he later renamed Tilly, but was speechless when he finally laid eyes on her.

“I saw Tilly from a distance, to begin with and I was shocked; I could see all her bones, her complete skeleton showed through the skin, I knew it was bad,” he said. “She was huddled over and fairly unresponsive. We look at things like their gum color to check for signs of anemia and low red blood cell levels; hers was just pasty white. Her skin was a combination of scabs and fresh wounds, and the top of her tail must have been bothering her because she had pulled out a piece of skin. She was in agony.”

Tilly was rushed to the shelter where RSPCA vet Laura Taylor determined she was severely emaciated, was suffering from parasites and severe skin infections, was anemic, had fleas, and had hypothermia. “The uplifting part of the night was, while she was so flat, we offered her a piece of chicken, and she sparked up and wolfed it down,” Arentz said.

Tilly’s original owner, 21-year-old Pamela-Ruth Dean, later pleaded guilty to five counts of animal cruelty and was fined $1500 and was banned from owning a pet for five years. The two-year-old was in intensive care for weeks, but has since made an incredible recovery and has even been adopted by a new loving family.

“She is a real battler. She’d be lying in her ward and you could see how unwell she was but she was still really keen for human company and attention,” Arentz said. “Despite her setbacks she has reverted to being a happy, healthy, playful dog who loves being around people and other animals. This is a really happy ending.”

Dog owners love their four-legged companions as if they were their child, which is why one UK woman was devastated when her eight-year-old patterdoodle suddenly disappeared.

52-year-old Rachel Stormonth-Darling had let her Patterdale terrier and poodle cross named Moppit out into the backyard one afternoon like she usually did. However, while outside, Moppit found a rabbit and chased it to a dried-up stream in the back of the yard. And when the rabbit climbed inside the tunnel which supplies water to the village, she followed along.

Moppit was too big to navigate the pipe, however, and ended up getting stuck and trying to dig her way out but as she dug, part of the tunnel collapsed and made it impossible to get back out the way she came. And when Rachel tried calling for her to come back inside, she was nowhere to be found.

18 hours later, Rachel started hearing Muppit crying. “I was scouring the garden when I noticed the stream had gone dry, which had never happened before. I put my ear to the connecting tunnel and heard Moppit. Then I walked into my neighbour’s garden and heard her again, this time much more clearly, through a drain and called the fire department.”

Muppit somehow managed to crawl through the pipe system and ended up 15 feet underneath next door neighbor’s patio. “I found the owner trying to shift the dirt with her bare hands, and we had to convince her not to go underground herself,” said Stuart Gillion who led the Dorset Fire & Rescue Service rescue. “I decided we needed additional expertise and called in the urban search and rescue unit, whose highly trained officers made the rescue possible. After identifying the dog’s location we drew up a map on a whiteboard and dug a hole.”

After neighbor Mark Greave gave permission to the rescue team, they dug through his yard for nine long hours until finally locating and rescuing Moppit. “Moppit was dirty and thirsty but the owner was very relieved. It was a good rescue with great teamwork and a happy ending,” Gillion said.“The rescue team was incredible, It was against all odds that she survived. It’s amazing to have her back. She’s the luckiest dog alive,” Rachel added.

When the temperature starts to drop, feral dogs and cats need to find shelter to survive and often have to get creative to stay warm.

So when the weather got too severe for an outdoor cat in Washington, the cat crawled underneath a parked car and climbed inside. However, the safe shelter quickly turned dangerous when the owner of the car started the engine and started on an almost 50-mile journey.

But as Sarah Ann Stevens drove, she started smelling burned hair and immediately pulled over to investigate. And just as she got out of the car, her heart dropped when she heard a thump and a weak cry. She quickly popped open the hood of the car and discovered a cat trapped behind the engine.

“I was crying at this point because I felt so awful,” Stevens said about the cat, who she had first seen around her neighborhood two years ago and named Thomas. Stevens tried to lift him out, but when that didn’t work, she made her way to the nearest Costco, where strangers helped remove a car part to free the cat, who luckily was unharmed aside from a small burn or scratch on his nose.

Once free, Stevens expected the cat to run away, but instead he curled up in her arms. “He grew up in the country. He likes to be outside and inside cat. I think he really likes out buildings which is the reason why he might have ended up in my vehicle,” she said.
