Heartless owners kicked their precious dog like a football and broke his diaphragm.

A small pooch named Robin did nothing to deserve such heartache after he wound up with his inner organs pushed up towards his lungs. This applied an extreme amount of pressure on Robin’s tiny body, and the pain was so bad that Robin could have died.

The only way to save him was to conduct emergency surgery to re-position his internal organs and repair the diaphragm.

It was a very difficult surgery, and it was uncertain if Robin was going to pull through, but he did.

A very loving family adopted Robin, and he now lives like a king in a beautiful home with his mom and furry siblings.

They play in the yard together, and he enjoys quality time with his new owner who would never in a million years do anything to hurt him.

One Virginia-based no-kill animal shelter does everything they can to ensure the animals that get brought into through their doors find their forever homes.

Despite being a no-kill shelter, however, the workers at the Richmond Animal League feared one special dog named Wiffle Ball, a five-year-old terrier mix who survived a sever case of heartworm and pneumonia, would never get a chance to find a forever home after they discovered he was dying of lymphoma.

Wiffle Ball didn’t have much time left, but the shelter’s director, Elizabeth Thomas, was determined to find him a loving home since she couldn’t bear the thought of him spending his final Christmas alone in a shelter. The team got to work sharing his story.

Luckily, a loving family heard about Wiffle Ball and decided to bring him home to enjoy his final Christmas and spoil him in his final days. “We want to provide the best last days, months, or however long he has left,” said new owner Thomas, who has been letting Wiffle Ball enjoy ‘Pup Cups’ from Starbucks and an occasional french fry from McDonald’s that are his favorite.

Officers from the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene one morning after people heard cries from a rabbit hole and knew it was no rabbit.

Instead, a dog named Oscar was stuck down there for hours as his owner nervously tried to dig out and rescue his trapped dogWhen crews arrived, they heard the dog barking and used a special camera to locate Oscar and assist his owner in excavating the rabbit hole until the dog was able to be reached.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted about the rescue on their Facebook, saying, “It was really hard to work out exactly where Oscar was in the series of rabbit holes and warrens. But listening for the dog bark and using the camera, crews were able to look through the tree roots and locate which run the dog had gone down.”

“Eventually crews were able to reach inside and bring Oscar to the surface and reunite him with his owners unharmed,” they said.

Mourning Parents Warn Of The Unexpected High-Risk Choking Hazard After Losing Daughter

We know all about the choking hazards we should keep away from kids: grapes, hard candy, and marbles, among many more. However, most parents don’t realize that popcorn should be on that list, too…

Mirranda Grace Lawson was a happy and healthy toddler, but on May 11, she and her family received an unexpected turn in life. She spent the day celebrating mom Alison’s birthday, unaware of the turn the day was about to take.

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
That same afternoon, Mirranda choked on a piece of popcorn, and life would never be the same for her poor parents.

“At the end of Alison’s birthday, Mirranda ran into the living room. Eyes huge, no sound. Time stopped. Those were the last moments they shared before Mirranda fell to the ground; they swept her mouth, nothing; Pat (her dad) started CPR.  The ambulance got there, Mirranda’s heart stopped.”

[Facebook]
[Facebook]
Mirranda’s heart eventually started beating, but the little girl would battle for several months on a ventilator before tragically her kidneys failed, ending her life much too soon on November 1. The cause of death was popcorn.

Now, her parents want the word spread as a harrowing warning. Most parents don’t realize that popcorn is a high-risk food, but her parents are hoping they can change that.

Healthy Child Care America, a program of the American Academy of Pediatrics, put a list together of suggestions to reduce high-risk foods that are choking hazards. Some of their recommendations include:

  • Children should be seated when eating.
  • Keep your eyes on your child while eating. A choking child may not make any noise.
  • Cut food into tiny pieces, playing close attention to foods like hot dogs.
  • Cook vegetables so they are softer and easier to chew.
  • Offer plenty of liquids when eating.

Celebrity Mom Is Widely Criticized After Photos Show Her Kissing Her Son On The Lips

screen-shot-2016-12-20-at-2-27-58-pm

Not much has changed since 2003. Back then, Hilary Duff was on the big screen kissing Gordo in The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Thirteen years later, we’ve once again seen her making waves with a kiss, though this time it’s on the small screen…

By the small screen, I mean the one you carry around with you in your pocket. The child star who played Lizzie McGuire in the early 2000’s has been in the news after posting a charming photo on Instagram. She took her son to Disneyland earlier this month and the two had a wonderful time. She even posted a sweet kiss with her four-year-old.

But when the kiss was a smooch on the lips, the internet went wild with criticism, support, and even disgust.

One person wrote: “You should not kiss your son like that. There’s other ways to show love but not that one. It’s confusing for him, it’s not healthy.”

But the positivity far outweighed the negativity. For example, user rhona_jarvis commented: “What a sad state the world is in if there are actually people out there that think this is wrong.”

To be fair, a kiss on the lips is much better than no kisses at all, which some bad parents out there certainly withhold.

The starlet responded with a lash of quick feedback saying, “for anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four-year-old (sic) is “inappropriate” go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgment.”

A photo posted by Hilary Duff (@hilaryduff) on

Our take on the issue: if you don’t think it’s healthy to kiss your kids on the lips, then don’t kiss your kids on the lips. The fact of the matter is what works for some families doesn’t work for others. If you draw a line in the sand, you create unnecessary boundaries where they don’t need to exist. Personally, my family doesn’t kiss on the lips. It’s how I was raised and has to do with both my cultural and psychological upbringing. But if your family kisses on the lips, then good for you, and if you don’t kiss on the lips, again, good for you.

Personally, my family doesn’t kiss on the lips. It’s how I was raised and has to do with both my cultural and psychological upbringing. But if your family kisses on the lips, then good for you, and if your family doesn’t kiss on the lips, again, good for you.

Let’s not fight about something as simple as kissing when the world is filled with so much killing. If you agree, please SHARE this story with friends and family and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

A German Shepherd in Kansas City nearly froze to death on Sunday after his owner left him chained outside in brutal temperatures.

According to the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue, the dog, who they named Caesar was brought into the Kansas City Pet Project and he was freezing, starving and unable to walk and in a comatose state.

The person who brought the German Shepherd in told the KC Pet Project various stories about the dog. First, he said the dog was a stray, but then he said the dog was missing for a month.

The Missouri German Shepherd Rescue said he finally admitted the dog was his and that he’d been chained up in the backyard his entire life.

The dog was then voluntarily signed over by his owner and taken to the Blue Pearl Emergency Vet and transferred to the Plaza Animal Clinic for ongoing treatment and care.

There it was discovered Caesar’s eye might need to be removed, and he also has one severely injured back leg, little body fat, and cannot stand on his back legs.

His nails have also overgrown and curled under, due to never being cut, and he has no front teeth since he was constantly chewing on his chain.

While Caesar’s road to recovery may be long, rescuers are convinced that with tender loving care, his future is bright!

It’s hard to resist wanting to play outside in the snow and ice this time of year when you’re a child or rambunctious pet, but as we know, this can come with a terrible price to pay.

As you can see in this shocking rescue of a mom who tried to save her dog who fell in a pond, it’s not worth it to run out onto the ice… or trust yourself over first responders.

Luckily for one elderly canine companion in Connecticut, he’ll live to see one more Christmas morning, thanks to the local heroes at his fire department.

[Fairfield-Sun]
[Fairfield-Sun]
According to CBS2, firefighters came to the rescue of a 19-year-old German shepherd mix named Delilah who got herself stuck in a very scary situation, just before the holidays. The elderly dog wandered away from home and onto an ice-covered pond, but couldn’t get herself safely back to shore.

When the heroes arrived, CBS2 said they used a “rescue stick” from animal control to save the senior pooch, who was freezing from the frightening ordeal.

Beaufort County contacted Noah’s Arks animal rescue with an urgent call about a 1-year-old Schnauzer Mix that was paralyzed.

When Noah’s Ark arrived to pick up the stray on Robert Smalls Road in Beaufort, SC, rescuers assumed the dog had been hit by a car.

The dog, who they named Snuffy was brought to Dr. Bob Bergman who would evaluate him and treat him as needed.

When medical staff did an MRI on Snuffy, they noticed a pellet in his body, indicating that the tiny pup had been shot!

Noah’s Arks said on their website, “Someone had SHOT Snuffy Point Blank in the back with a pellet gun, and the pellet was dead center in his Spinal Cord.  The person that did this put the gun directly on the skin of Snuffy and FIRED.  It was as if their intention was to sever the spine completely. The destruction was so great, that hair was embedded in the spinal cord.”

The news shocked everyone, and Snuffy went into emergency surgery to remove the pellet. “Snuffy is in ICU where he will remain until we can get him better,” Noah’s Arks said.

“He does not have control of his rear legs, bowel, or bladder at this time, and we are hopeful he will regain some of it.  Only time and healing can help him now,” they continued.

Noah’s Arks is posting a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the person that did this.

A 12-year-old from Houston wants just one gift for Christmas this year: a new heart for his mother.

The selfless Arnulfo Guerra Jr. wrote a letter to Santa Claus asking him to bring a gift for his mother who is desperately in need of a transplant. “Dear Santa, I believe in you and the miracles. Santa I don’t want toys for me, I want a healthy heart for my mom,” the letter read. “I’m sad for her. She’s 46 years and I’m only 12 … we need her for many years more.”

“Dear Santa, I believe in you and the miracles. Santa I don’t want toys for me, I want a healthy heart for my mom,” the letter read. “I’m sad for her. She’s 46 years and I’m only 12 … we need her for many years more.”

The Channelview Fire Department was heartbroken over the boy’s request. They couldn’t deliver a heart for the middle-school child or his Mom, but they did think that maybe a 12-year-old shouldn’t have such a heavy heart couldn’t deliver the heart himself. Their solution was to bring him a bicycle to free his own heart and allow him to live a little.

Cops Smash Window To Rescue A ’Frozen’ Grandma And Get A Disturbing Surprise

Police in upstate New York got a huge surprise on Friday morning when they thought they were rescuing a senior citizen from a car.

The Hudson Police Department said in a press release that they “received a call from a very upset citizen who stated that she discovered an elderly woman ‘frozen to death’ in her Subaru parked along City Hall Place, Hudson. Officers and the Greenport Rescue Squad were immediately dispatched.”

When officers arrived, they observed an elderly woman seated in the passenger seat wearing an oxygen mask. She was not moving and was unresponsive,” the press release continued. “It was bitterly cold, (around 8 degrees) and the car had snow cover, indicating it may have been parked there overnight.”

Officers quickly determined however that the oxygen mask-wearing woman was not dead, nor frozen. In fact, the elderly woman was actually a mannequin. “An HPD Sergeant broke the rear passenger window and opened the door to discover it was an extremely realistic life-sized mannequin,” according to the press release. The mannequin looked extremely life-like and wore clothing, glasses, had teeth, skin, and blemishes on its face.

While officers were very frustrated, they soon learned that the vehicle’s owner was actually a sales manager for a company that manufactures medical training aids and the “woman” is a CPR training device, according to police. “The owner of the mannequin stated that he transports the device in his car in that manner, to include the wearing of a seat belt,” police said in the press release.

The explanation still didn’t sit well with police, saying, “I can’t put what he said on air, but he was not very happy with the police department for forcing entry into his car,” Hudson Police Department Sgt. Randy Clarke told ABC affiliate WTEN. “If it was a joke, it was a very poor tasteful joke. If it was a matter of convenience for him — it was a station wagon — carry your mannequin a little bit better. The mannequin was in the front seat with a seat belt and appearing to be a passenger in the car.”

There are no charges pending in the incident.

Do you think this was a practical joke or was the owner telling the truth?

One-Eyed Cat Finally Has A Home After Years In A Shelter

The staff and volunteers at animal shelters like to believe that they can find loving homes for every single animal that comes through their doors.

However, after an elderly, one-eyed cat who had been rescued from a kill shelter spent the past two years in the Michigan Cat Rescue’s care without being adopted, the staff started to doubt whether that was actually true.

“I just happened to go into the shelter that day just to look around and I saw this beautiful cat sitting there,” said Nancy Hutchinson, founder and president of Michigan Cat Rescue, about Apollo, who had ended up in the shelter after his owner had to be put in a nursing home. “He had been there for a while. Probably a good two months. It’s a high-kill shelter and they felt sorry for him so they didn’t put him down yet — they kind of kept him longer to give him extra time.”

Hutchinson took him home and began fostering him until she could find him a perfect home, but shortly after, he became sick and lost his eye from a bad infection that didn’t respond to treatment. As if it wasn’t already hard enough to find him a good home, he was now an elderly, handicapped cat.

“I recall one time in particular a lady came up to him at an adoption event,” Hutchinson said. “He was sitting in a cage and she told him to his face that he was ugly. I truly believe that he understood her because he put his head down. I could tell that he felt bad and it made me cry.”

As a last resort, Hutchinson paid for a post about Apollo to be spread on Facebook, and finally they recieved the adoption application they had been waiting for. “We’re very selective about who we give our cats to,” she said. “We want to make sure they stay indoors and go to a nice family who’s going to take care of them. Otherwise, we do all this for nothing.” After sorting through tons of applications, she actually started crying when she realized the search was over. “I don’t know what it was, but I just started crying and thought, ‘This is the one,'” Hutchinson said about the applicant named Denise. “I called her and said, ‘We’ve been waiting for you for so long to come along. We both started crying.'”

“He waits by the door for her when she comes home from work. He sleeps next to her. It’s a happy ending for him,” Hutchinson said.  So many cats are like Apollo who need someone to come along. They’re not perfect cosmetically, but they have beautiful hearts, beautiful souls and truly deserve a second chance.”

Dog Receives A New Pair Of Legs After A Monster Intentionally Cut Them Off

screen-shot-2016-12-22-at-4-07-03-pm

According to animal activist Marc Ching, “There’s this belief in Asia that if you torture the dog the meat tastes better.”

Ching told this to Washington news organization WJLA. He first came across a dog named Liberty when he was working undercover in a slaughterhouse in Cambodia. That’s where he met the poor dog who had her front paws cut off for food.

[WJLA]
[WJLA]
There are estimates that approximately 30 million dogs are killed every year in Asia for food. This is an alarming statistic, but one that is slowly changing for the better. In Liberty’s case, she not only found freedom, she is also finding a new pair of paws.

[WJLA]
[WJLA]
Ching rescued Liberty last year and is raising her with his other rescues in California. She has come far but still needs to go a little bit further. The dog was recently casted for prosthetic legs and will be fit with the new paws shortly. A pair of prosthetics for a dog will run at a heavy price, roughly $5,000, but Liberty is getting these paws at a fraction of the price after a fund for needy animals decided to cover many of the fees.

Family Receives ‘Christmas Miracle’ When Grieving Mother Fosters Their Orphaned Puppies

One Cleveland family’s excitement over the weekend quickly turned to devastation when their 3-year-old dog suddenly died after delivering seven healthy puppies.

The grieving family took to their Facebook page– Red White and Bulldogs, to honor their pup, and Dan Weese also posted on their website about what happened to their beloved dog Indy: “Indy delivered 7 healthy puppies in North Ridgeville, Ohio Saturday.

Although she was slow to recover after her cesarean section the doctor cleared her to return home with her new puppies. Only minutes after arriving home, Indy stopped breathing. Efforts to resuscitate her had failed and just like that, our beautiful 3-year-old girl was gone.”

The stress and sadness the Weese’s was feeling was probably hard to put into words, but Dan explained how difficult it was going to be to care for the orphaned pups now that their mother was gone. “The task of raising a litter of Bulldogs is a tough one even when the mother is present. In this case, our puppies were orphaned. They would need to be hand fed every 2 hrs, 24/7. It became ever-clear to us just how much a newborn puppy depends on it’s Mother,” he said.

The family went to Walmart and bought man-made bottles, syringes, and a Pet Safe brand heating pad. Dan’s mother came over to help with the pups and that’s when she suggested: “Why don’t you go on Facebook and ask someone if they had a dog with milk-a dog that could feed and care for the puppies?” While the idea seemed crazy, they figured they’d give it a shot.

Credit: redwhiteandbulldogs.com
Credit: redwhiteandbulldogs.com

That’s when they received an unexpected message: “Hey guys I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss. I want to throw an idea your way, it may or may not help. I have a lab that gave birth yesterday and she lost her pups. She is grieving and producing milk like crazy. If you’re interested it might be worth a try. If we can help let’s us know.” – Macy Grubbs.

“At first, I thought, ‘It’s a Christmas Miracle!’ I pictured the whole scenario played out in my mind like a Hallmark movie. I couldn’t imagine better news!” Dan said. While Dan was skeptical about this idea, being that you always hear horror stories about people stealing dogs, he decided to give Macy a call.

Credit: redwhiteandbulldogs.com

Within moments, Dan felt a bond with Macy and it broke his heart when Macy explained that his dog Pixie’s puppies were attacked by another dog and killed. “Pixie and the families that cared for her were mourning down in Kentucky much in the same way we were here in Ohio. Macy’s story instantly filled me with a spirit of solidarity. We truly did share a common bond,” Dan wrote.

Macy told Dan he believed in fate, and the next morning, Macy, Amanda and Pixie drove to Dan’s home in Ohio.

“They explained that Pixie wasn’t quite herself since her puppies died. She had been panting and grieving non-stop. We weren’t sure how to proceed with introducing the puppies to Pixie, but just as we’d hoped, she took to them in no time. It couldn’t have been 5 minutes before Pixie was laying on our living room floor feeding and cleaning her new babies!” Dan said.

“I have my Christmas Miracle!” he continued.

Police Rescue Two Dogs Chained Outside In The Freezing Cold

Shore Animal Control in Seaville, received a call about two dogs being left outside for hours in the frigid temperatures in New Jersey.

The New Jersey State Police went to the home to discover the two dogs, one being a 15-year-old pit bull, left outside in 22-degree weather. The sad event occurred the other night, and when police confronted the woman, she responded saying that the dogs needed to be left outside until her son gets home in 4-5 hours!

Credit: Shore Animal Control/Facebook

Even a couple of minutes is too long for a dog to stand outside in the cold, but 4-5 hours is unacceptable.  An officer told the woman, “You will be arrested and go to jail because you won’t let the dog inside,” and she responded saying, “I don’t care!”

Her excuse was that one of the dogs breaks everything in her home, but that excuse isn’t good enough. Luckily, one of the dogs has already been placed in a new home (in the photo below), but the 15-year-old pit bull is still looking for one.

If you are interested in adopted the dog, please contact Shore Animal Control

Watch the video below:

Please allow this to be a reminder that if the weather is too cold for a dog, please don’t keep them outside. Dogs and puppies can freeze to death without proper protection, and a dehydrated, malnourished dog doesn’t stand a chance in this weather.

If you see dogs and puppies outside, please call the police, ASPCA, or SPCA. Don’t wait and assume someone else will call!

Everybody knows the famous, heartbreaking ballad ‘Hallelujah,’ originally penned by Leonard Cohen in 1984.

The bittersweet melody draws the ear through a painful story of love and loss with religious iconography,  allusions to romance, and, of course, a story of music. But few have heard the altered holiday version of the song, that while still poignant in its hymn, tells the story of another kind.

When a 10-year-old girl from Northern Ireland sang this version in an emotional solo at her school’s choir performance, she became a viral internet sensation. Kaylee Rodgers comes from Donaghadee, County Down, and has both autism and ADHD. Kaylee is a student at a special needs school and began singing as a way to boost confidence. However, she didn’t know just how far that confidence extends.

So far, the moving  Facebook video has racked up more than 180,000 views. The girl recently spoke with ITV to share her perspective on the popularity of her performance.

“It was really amazing how many views I got,” she said. “I just loved doing it.”

“For a child who came in P4 and wouldn’t really talk, wouldn’t really read out in class, to stand and perform in front of an audience is amazing,” Colin Millar, principal of Killard House told ITV. “It takes a lot of effort on Kaylee’s part.”

A Wisconsin mother of three received a Christmas miracle when she accidentally sent a message to the wrong person on Facebook.

A desperate Amy Rickel was at a breaking point. She had moved her and her three children to a new place to be closer to the father of her children. She found herself, however, without a job and without a home. The family had been living in a motel room, but they could’t afford any more nights there and things took a wild dive downward.

That was when Amy reached out to a friend to ask for prayers and support, but she reached out to the wrong friend. She messaged Brian Van Boxtel when she meant to message somebody else with a similar name.

Upon seeing the message, Brian knew something had to be done. He wasn’t going to let things fall to the wayside for this struggling mother. His response was a simple, “what would Jesus do,” and an offer to pay for her hotel room.

With the help of others, this single Mom is working to get back on her feet. She’s grateful for the love and kindness Brian showed and is happy there are good souls out there.

Meet Becca Drake. She spends her days caring for her 30 pugs and has recently admitted to spending almost $25,000 a year caring for them.

Becca, who lives in the UK, has devoted her life to her pugs and is planning to fork out another couple thousand dollars to ensure they have a magical Christmas.

“All of my pugs are part of the family and deserve to be spoilt like everyone else on Christmas day,” Becca tells metro.co.uk

Becca has an Instagram for her precious pets called Bubblebecca Pugs, which has over 340,000 followers!

She says, “Our Christmas tree, decorated with pug baubles, is surrounded by cuddly toys for the dogs, carefully wrapped in festive paper. For their dinner, they will all wear Christmas jumpers and will enjoy turkey and sausages followed by doggy treats for dessert,” she continued.

Becca’s love for pugs started when her parents gave her a puppy called Fatima on her 30th birthday. “I was head-over-heels in love with Fatima when I received her as a gift from my parents. Then I got another pug, as I wanted her to have a friend to play with.”

Since then, she’s been taking in rescue pugs who have been mistreated and abandoned. Her crew now consists of mixed rescue pugs and those she’s bred herself. “I can’t put into words how much my pugs mean to me. They bring me so much love and happiness,” she explains.

Pug puppies can cost over $1,000 in the UK, and Becca says, “They’re expensive and it’s definitely hard work keeping the house clean and making sure they’re all groomed an fed – but there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do to ensure that they all live happy and healthy lives.” “They’re my whole world and I would die for them,” she continues.

Every month, Becca is shelling out thousands for vet bills, dog food, treats, grooming products, clothes, and accessories. She even sold her designer handbags and jewelry to ensure she could provide for the animals.

“It’s a lot of work and it’s tiring, but I only have to look at how happy they are and I know it’s all worth it,” Becca says. “I have a huge waiting list of pugs that would like a home with me, but I think that 30 is my limit for now.”

She adds: “I know that some people will think I’m crazy, but my pugs are my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Many tails will be wagging at Green Acres Animal Rescue thanks to a man named Gavin Wright.

For one year, this animal portrait article was selling his paintings- 42 to be exact, and putting the money aside to donate to an animal rescue. “I’m a big animal lover and feel very passionate about animal welfare,” Gavin told westerntelegraph.co.uk

Gavin chose Green Acres since he adopted two dogs from the rescue center, based in Talbenny.

“I knew that Christmas is there worst time for donations, so in January I decided to raise them some money throughout the year secretly, and donate it to Green Acres at Christmas,” he said.

“I had put a few drawings on Facebook, and had a few people ask me if I would draw their dog or cat for them, so I knew that I could make money doing it. I managed to sell 42 drawings, which was way more than I expected,” Gavin continued.

He told Western Telegraph that he was going to send the rescue a check with a note but he thought that was a bit boring, so he came up with stuffing a teddy bear with the money.

“I came up with stuffing the teddy just to add a bit of romance I suppose,” Gavin said.

Mikey Lawlor from Green Acres said the gift was an “amazing surprise.” “Not many things bring us to tears but we just cannot believe the kindness of this act. This really restores faith in human nature,” he continued.
