Rescuers were beside themselves when they found a shivering dog curled up inside a crate on a deserted road in Dallas, Texas.

It was late Saturday night, and with not a person in sight, the future was not looking bright for this poor dog.

Luckily for him, a woman named Leslie Ysuhuaylas had spotted him in the isolated area, where, all too often, irresponsible owners abandon their dogs, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Leslie wrote on her Facebook asking advocates for help for this dog she named Benny and Rescue Rocks NYC immediately stepped up to help. Stacey Silverstein, the co-founder of the organization, made arrangements to send Benny to a partner veterinarian emergency hospital where he is now fighting for his life.

Silverstein wrote on FacebookBenny is on an IV as he is completely dehydrated weak and starved. X-rays were taken of Benny‘s leg and chest. His head is very swollen, and the medical staff is continuing to run tests to figure out why. As you can see it cost the rescue close to $2300 just for the night. Benny will get the very best care but we need your help.”

To make matters even worse, when the rescue discovered “Benny in the box,” there was another dog next to him! When we discovered Benny In The Box in critical condition there was another dog next to him who we suspect had been living in this area unprotected for weeks, freezing to death right beside Benny,” wrote Rescue Rocks.

“Thankfully, this dog appears healthy,” they said. “Betty spent the night last night, safe and warm, never to be on the streets again. She will be transported to our Texas vet partner for a full medical workup, to make sure she’s up to date on shots, altered and there are no underlying medical issues that need to be addressed.”

Rescue Rocks said that both dogs will need a foster home or adopted home to go, and you can apply for Benny and Betty here.

Please spread the word about these two dogs by SHARING their story with your friends and family on Facebook!

When it comes to being a parent, there’s nothing more wonderful than watching your little ones grow.

However, for many of us, it is just the opposite for those of us with aging parents. It can often feel like in a blink of an eye our parents go from the people we depend on everything for to people who can help themselves less and less.

This is exactly why it’s not surprising that having a family member diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and dementia-related illnesses are some of the most stressful situations one can deal with. While the patients themselves often feel completely confused and helpless, their loved ones can also find themselves feeling the same way, unable to do anything to help.

For a disease that completely destroys lives, there tends to be little hope for these senior sufferers, but as you will see in the following amazing video from Lisa Abeyta, there is always a reason to stay hopeful… and miracles are possible.

Lisa’s elderly father suffers from Alzheimer’s and is nearly non-verbal, unable to communicate with his daughter and family. Yet as soon as he starts spending time with Lisa’s dog, an incredible turn of events takes place.

When you’re a pet parent, there isn’t much more terrifying than returning home to find your beloved companion has vanished without a trace.

That’s exactly what happened to Iris Samaniego when Diego, the cat she loved for 12 years, slipped through a crack in the fence and ran away from her home in June 2015. Distraught by the beloved flame-point Siamese’s disappearance, Samaniego posted signs around her neighborhood for over a year without any leads. Then one day, she was struck with an idea.

“I was at work and in between patients, I’m a vet tech, something told me to look on animal friends of the valley website which is odd for me,” Iris told LoveMeow.
It turned out her little hunch happened for good reason. “I saw his picture and left work as fast I could,” she said.

Iris and her sister Crystal said they knew it was Diego as soon as they saw him at the shelter. “The moment I saw him I felt indescribable joy, I felt peace and overwhelmed because I knew he wasn’t dead. My intuition always told me he was alive,” said Iris.

Although many friends and family told Iris to let go of Diego, she knew in her heart that their 12-year-old love story wasn’t over. “Never give up on finding your animals. This is the best Christmas present she could have received,” Crystal said after their touching reunion in December 2016

“After almost two long years I found my 13-year-old cat! I can’t tell you how much joy this has brought our family,” Iris told LoveMeow of how she never gave up hope of finding her best friend. “I found him! The kids literally cried with joy.”

Talk about a heart-pumping rescue! This story proves that you should never doubt your own ability, even when you can barely manage your own strength anymore.

An elderly Texas man was recently minding his own business at home when he witnessed something truly terrifying outside his window: an out of control car flipped off the curved road and landed right in his driveway.

At 85 years old, Lindell Marbut of Burleson in Johnson County can’t do much by himself anymore. He lives with a full-time caretaker, he’s hard of hearing, and he uses a cane to get around. Yet in the heat of such a horrifying moment, the elderly man was able to set his fear aside and muster up some miraculous strength to become a hero, according to local news station Fox 4.

[Fox 4]
[Fox 4]
After seeing the car burst into flames, Marbut rushed outside to try and help the 22-year-old driver and her female passenger, while caretaker Sondra Young ran for help.

“When I got back over here this way, he was beating on the front windshield with a cane,” Young told Fox 4.

“I got my walking stick, and pulled it out and seen this woman’s hand sticking out and I got her and pulled her out,” said Marbut.

“Amazing, 85 years old and he drug her into the garage. I couldn’t believe it. He can barely walk as it is. He has to use a cane to walk,” said Young.

[Fox 4]
[Fox 4]
With help from his caretaker, the old man ignored the inferno and used his cane to bust through the windshield and pull the women to safety. Firefighters were absolutely stunned when they arrived on the scene and heard what Marbut had done.

“For him to do that on his own was absolutely amazing,” said Alicia Wingfield with the Johnson County Fire Department. “If it wasn’t for the gentleman to pull them out, it wouldn’t have been a good turnout,” added firefighter Keith Flemming.

When asked how Marbut felt after the unbelievable rescue, he claimed he didn’t feel like a hero. “I just feel like an old man trying to save somebody’s life. I’d do it again if I had to,” he said.

When many pets get sick or injured, it usually isn’t such a big deal, since their owners will do whatever they can to help them heal and get them whatever treatment necessary.

Unfortunately for far more animals living on the streets, something that seems minor can turn into a terrible, slow death. This was almost the fate for Adrian, a poor dog who didn’t have anyone to look after his well-being and take him to the veterinarian when he became very sick.

The poor stray was found living on the streets with a gigantic mass growing inside his mouth. The tumor or cyst-like growth became so large that poor Adrian nearly suffocated on it, but thankfully heroes came for the mutt before it was too late.

In the video below, we see how rescuers from He’Art of Rescue and veterinarians worked tirelessly to help this sweet animal that had already been through so much in his young life. Although today Adrian’s mass has been removed by doctors and he is doing much better than when he was found, the poor pup still has a long way to go.

Check out this brave dog’s amazing story and please SHARE it to make a difference for others like him who are in desperate need of medical care.

The Hawaiian Humane Society of Honolulu did something they haven’t done in 130 years in an effort to get more dogs adopted: the shelter waived all adoption fees, hoping that all of the dogs would be adopted by the new year!

After a four-day “Clear the Shelter” event, there was only one dog left at the Hawaiian Humane Society, a scruffy mixed breed dog named Beauty. She was patiently waiting for a home, and on New Year’s Eve, a woman named Jan came to the shelter and fell in love with Beauty.

Over the moon that their last remaining dog was welcomed into a family, shelter staffers decided to send Beauty and Jan off the best way they could- with an incredible farewell.

Suzy Tam, the communications manager for the shelter, told TODAY, “It was an amazing moment. We wanted to celebrate this historic milestone by giving Beauty and Jan a round of applause as they exited our campus.”

The shelter welcomes 60 new animals a day on average so this accomplishment has initiated a positive response from the community. The Hawaiian Humane Society in Honolulu wrote on their Facebook: “Beauty, the final animal waiting to be adopted, received a round of applause from our staff as she exited campus with her new family. Mahalo to everyone who helped get the word out and chose to adopt.”

They continued saying, “Our shelter is cleared for the day, but we will have more animals available for adoption tomorrow!”

Snow Plow Driver Brings Stranded Woman In Labor To The Hospital

By the time the due date arrives, most parents have chosen where they’ll be giving birth, what route they’ll take to the hospital, and who will perform the delivery.

Virginia-based expecting parents Hugh and Stephanie Dawson had spent the months prior to the due date planning everything about their second baby’s birth. They had chosen to give birth at the Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, which was normally 40 minutes from their home and figured they’d have plenty of time to get there once Stephanie’s water broke.

Yet when she finally went into labor a week after the due date at around 3:30 in the morning, the couple looked outside and saw a snowstorm and realized their plan might not work out. The couple quickly defrosted Hugh’s truck and got on the road within 20 minutes, but 40 minutes into the drive Stephanie knew they wouldn’t make it. “We’re not making it to Princess Anne,” she said since her contractions were just three minutes apart by then.

The couple decided to exit the highway and go to a closer hospital down the road, yet while on the exit ramp, Hugh’s truck suddenly died. “I didn’t know the truck had broken down,” Stephanie said. “He just hopped out of the truck.” Hugh managed to spot a snow plow on the other side of the road, flagged it down, and begged the driver to help.

“I was kind of jumping in the street and making sure that he saw me,” Hugh said. He explained the situation, and thankfully, the driver let them in and dropped them off at the hospital just in time.

15 minutes later, Stephanie gave birth to a 6 pound 13-ounce baby boy named Brayden. “Luckily, if it wasn’t for the plow, we probably would have been having him in the middle of Battlefield Boulevard walking here,” the couple said.

Can you believe how lucky the couple was that the plow stopped for them? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

A surveillance video from the City of Bartlett Animal Shelter in Tennessee shows a woman pulling up to the shelter in a pickup truck, and removing a dog in a cage and dropping him on the ground.

The video has gotten a lot of attention on social media, as the woman leaves the abandoned dog in the parking lot and quickly driving away.

The video, along with the following comments, were posted on the City of Barlett Animal Shelter’s Facebook page Monday: “Does anyone recognize this woman, dog or truck? If so, please let us know. We have a few questions for her. Thank you. I think we can all agree this is upsetting. Please keep foul language off this feed. It does not help.”

The dog, believed to be a 5-year-old, female Australian shepherd was terrified when shelter staff found her, but soon she was very sweet and friendly. While some commenters on Facebook believed the person dropping the dog off may have been saving her from harm, the shelter disagrees.

““Had the lady put the dog on the sidewalk, we would agree. However, our parking lot connects with the street where there are garbage trucks flying through here. She could have been hit in that cage,” they wrote.

Turns out the Barlett Police Department was able to track down the person who abandoned the dog, and the organization posted on their Facebook page that the dog could be adopted.

The Barlett police want to remind everyone that abandoning an animal is illegal. “If you feel the need to bring an animal to the shelter, please come inside so we can assist you and ensure the safety of the animal,” a spokesperson from the department said. There is never an excuse to abandon a pet.

Being a police officer is often a thankless job, but the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to helping others do it because it’s the right thing to do, not because they want to be called a hero.

When a North Texas police officer rescued a three-year-old little boy who stopped breathing, he did it because a child’s life was on the line and never expected to get anything in return. “I thought my life was over when it happened. I mean, he is my life,” mom Bethany Hoover said of her son, Brayden Geis.

Brayden had been visiting his mom at work when his fever spiked, he started having a seizure and stopped breathing. “His eyes were rolling further and further in the back of his head, and it was just something you never want to see your son do,” said Brayden’s father, John Geis.

Officer Chase Miller was nearby and heard a call on his radio, and decided to head to the location since he was close by even though he hadn’t been dispatched. Once on the scene, he took Brayden and calmly started performing CPR. “Just trying to get him breathing,” Miller said. “Everything else that’s going on around you doesn’t matter at that point.” Thankfully, Miller was able to revive the toddler.

Miller never expected he’d ever see Brayden or his family ever again, but he has since been honored by Granbury’s City Council for his quick thinking and was thrilled to see Brayden there. “It feels good to know that he’s all right,” Miller said. “I’m very thankful.” And before the night was over, Brayden hugged his hero to thank him. “He’s going to know who saved his life,” John Geis said.

A home surveillance video captured harrowing footage of two armed men breaking into a family’s Florida home.

A burglar can be seen pushing his way inside and creeping around in the darkness, with Vera’s two sleeping grandchildren, ages 10 and 13 on the couch. One of the men is seen surveying the living room to see what to steal, and the second burglar stands by the door with a handgun, taking the stolen property.

The men stole a stainless steel .38 special revolver from the victims’ vehicle, along with several credit cards and a cell phone that were taken from inside the home.

When Vera saw the surveillance tape he was shocked. “(The kids) were all in the living room sleeping, and he just walks right around in between them,” Vera said. “My bedroom is right over there. He was right there, but he never opened the door.”

The burglar made his way around the living room and kitchen before he decided to take the sleeping child’s cell phone. The entire time, his lookout stood outside the front door, aiming his gun inside. “God forbid, what could’ve happened if one of us got up? They robbed my gun, my GPS — on my door (where) I keep my credit cards (and) my wallet,” Vera said. “They stole all that.”

Vera also noticed on the video that the men came inside the house several times, and he saw even more men in his driveway. “There’s like, three guys going through the car while he’s inside the house,” Vera said. “They’re ransacking the car still.”

Since the break-in, Vera has installed new locks around the house and he has plans to add more lights inside. “They better stay away from here, because I am armed and I’m putting measures now where I will be alerted if someone is prowling out here,” Vera said.

A young mother in Oklahoma was forced to make a decision on New Year’s Eve’ in 2012- to kill an intruder in her home or risk her baby’s life.

Sarah McKinley was going through a very difficult time when less than a week earlier her baby’s father died of cancer.

Sarah McKinley told ABC News Oklahoma affiliate KOCO that a man named Justin Martin dropped by her home on the day of her husband’s funeral, claiming he was a neighbor who wanted to say hello. The 18-year-old mom did not let the man in, but on New Year’s Eve Martin returned with another man, Dustin Stewart, who was armed with a 12-inch hunting knife.

The two men began trying to break into McKinley’s home going door to door to try and gain entry. McKinley called 911, grabbed her 12-gauge shotgun, went into her bedroom to get a pistol, put a bottle in her baby’s mouth and called 911.

“I’ve got two guns in my hand — is it okay to shoot him if he comes in this door?” the young mother asked the dispatcher. “I’m here by myself with my infant baby, can I please get a dispatcher out here immediately?”

The 911 dispatcher confirmed with McKinley that the doors to her home were locked as she asked again if it was okay to shoot the intruder if he were to come through her door. “I can’t tell you that you can do that but you do what you have to do to protect your baby,” the dispatcher told her.

The entire call lasted 21 minutes, and when Martin kicked in the door and came after her with the knife, the teen mom shot and killed the 24-year-old.

Police are calling the shooting justified saying, “You’re allowed to shoot an unauthorized person that is in your home. The law provides you the remedy and sanctions the use of deadly force,” Det. Dan Huff of the Blanchard police said. The other man, Stewart, soon turned himself into the police.

McKinley told KOCO, “I wouldn’t have done it, but it was my son. It’s not an easy decision to make, but it was either going to be him or my son. And it wasn’t going to be my son. There’s nothing more dangerous than a woman with a child.”

The expectant parents intended to call an ambulance after they pulled into the parking lot, which was on their way to the hospital, but it became clear the baby would arrive before the ambulance did.

The mother panicked, but Privette and Caouette jumped into action, despite their inexperience with childbirth. They called 911 and spoke to a dispatcher named Madeline Knight. She helped walk the deputies through the delivery procedure, and thankfully, it was a successful birth.

When it comes to things parents tell their kids not to do, the list can be quite exhaustive.

Don’t talk to strangers, eat food off the ground, or stick anything in an electrical outlet. And, speaking of electrical outlets, you can now tell your kids to avoid talking on a cell phone while it’s charging and they happen to be wearing costume jewelry around their neck.

[Jackie Fedro]
[Jackie Fedro]
At least, that’s what caused a bizarre injury for Gabbie Fedro. Her mother, Jackie Fedro, who lives in Highland Park outside of Chicago, said her daughter’s bizarre injury left her feeling helpless.

[Jackie Fedro]
[Jackie Fedro]
“It’s the worst feeling in the world as a mother to watch your child scream in pain and have no idea how to help her,” she said. “It took her a good five minutes before she was even able to tell us what had happened.”

[Jackie Fedro]
[Jackie Fedro]
After some investigation, the family learned the bizarre incident probably happened because Gabbie had been using a charger she bought from a mall kiosk. Because it wasn’t the standard issued electronic device, it shorted and transferred a shock to Gabbi through the necklace, which acted as a fabulous conductor of electricity. And you thought 9th grade would never apply to real life.

[Jackie Fedro]

Fedro said she contacted both T-Mobile and LG about the incident. LG did not respond, she said, but T-Mobile sent the family a new phone and offered to pay Gabbie’s medical bills.

At just six years old, Luke started working with Justin and soon became a young tapping sensation, showing unbelievable talent more reminiscent of a well-practiced pro than a first grader.

Fast forward to just a mere months later, when the master and his petite protégé decided to turn up to the biggest tap showdown of the year as a team and put on one heck of a showstopping performance, all in perfect unison!

Decked out in their matching shirts, ties, and tap shoes the dynamic duo stuns the crowd with some perfectly synchronized moves that no one saw coming!

Check out lightfooted little Luke’s unbelievable talent in the video above!

Two years after his beloved dog named Everything passed away, Chris Sontag-Ratti was still heartbroken, missing his best friend.

When most people are mourning the loss of a pet, they’ll tend to move on and invite a new furball into the family, but that wasn’t enough for Sontag-Ratti. He wanted to honor the dog who truly lived up to his name and meant everything to his owner.

On Jan 23 I'll mark 2 years without my best friend. I purchased 100 tennis balls last week. I plan on sending them to anyone who wants one. I hope that all the people who get a ball from me will use it to spend some quality time with their best friend. If you would like a ball please email me your name and address and I will send you one. Direct message on IG works too. If you know someone who might like a ball feel free to tag them. I cover all costs… My email is chubbywater@gmail.com The artwork on the flyer was put together kindly by @steezjuice.. Edit: wow, i am blown away by the requests for tennis balls. “On Jan 23 I’ll mark 2 years without my best friend,” he shared on Instagram. “I purchased 100 tennis balls last week. I plan on sending them to anyone who wants one. I hope that all the people who get a ball from me will use it to spend some quality time with their best friend.”

The response to his offer was overwhelming. “I am getting requests to send tennis balls all over the world,” he said. “I was planning on spending my entire paycheck this week on shipping but looks like I’ll have to use next week’s check too. I don’t mind one bit either. I would spend my last dollar if it helped keep the memory of my Everything alive,” Sontag-Ratti told ABC News.

Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Port Washington, New York loved the idea so much, in fact, they decided to go above and beyond to honor Everything and to raise awareness for shelter dogs.

“For a dog in a shelter being as adopted is as awesome as being able to jump into a pool full of tennis balls!” the organization wrote online.

In the amazing video below, you’ll see some very happy rescued Golden Retrievers dive head-first into any dog’s dream to keep playful pooch Everything’s memory alive: a pool filled with tennis balls.

A dog who had a rough start in life was able to survive against all odds and get the second chance he’s always deserved.

Poor Paris was just a tiny puppy when some sick person put a wire around his neck in an evil act of torture.

Yet somehow the brave little dog held on and stayed alive long enough to be saved by the amazing heroes at Greek Animal Rescue (GAR). It breaks our hearts that rescue founder Ermioni said this is pretty common in her town; strays and unwanted dogs are mistreated and abused everywhere. Paris was probably one of those poor dogs who never stood a chance on the street.

“When Ermioni found Paris, he was terrified of people. Paris was rushed to the vets where the wire was removed from his neck but an infection set in requiring a longer recovery. For two months, Ermioni and her GAR team of rescuers cared for Paris. When he finally received his surgery, he felt less pain and started to eat…and eat. The dog that was little more than “skin and bones” gained 20 kilos in a matter of months.”

Although Paris is recovering, the rescue says getting better is going to take some time for this injured animal. Paris will also likely have long-lasting psychological effects from all the mental and physical abuse he’s endured at the hands of a monster.

Now that he’s safe with Ermioni and the Greek Animal Rescue, it’s only a matter of time until this dog is better than ever!

Please share to help Paris find a forever home and family!

A woman who had a rough start in life has finally found the person who gave her a miraculous second chance.

After years of searching, Morgan Hill has found her “guardian angel”, the man who saved her when she was just a newborn abandoned in a Chicago dumpster.

Twenty years ago, construction worker Gerald Rocky Hyatt found Morgan after her birth mother left her for dead in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

“He was dropping off the last load of trash from the construction area he was working on,” Morgan Hill told NBC affiliate WMAQ. “Before he dropped it in, he heard a whimper. He found a white kitchen bag that was double knotted.”

Morgan always knew she was adopted and decided to find her heroes when she learned the truth about what really happened when she was born in October 1995.

Thanks to news station KSHB, Morgan was able to finally track down the hero who rescued her so many years ago in 2016.

“I broke into tears and the first thing I said was, ‘Thank you,'” Hill says in the video. “He said to me, ‘Baby girl, you are so loved.'”
