First responders make lifesaving rescues practically every single day, so it’s impossible to remember every single person they’ve saved. However, the firefighters from the Asheville Fire Department will never forget the puppy they brought back to life last October.

The North Carolina firefighters responded to a house fire and risked their lives going into the burning home after they heard that a puppy was still trapped inside. They managed to get the unresponsive puppy named Hex out just in time and immediately gave her oxygen, which brought her back to life.

Hex was alive, but still suffered from severe burns and had to be hospitalized for months. Now, Hex has finally recovered from her injuries and to celebrate, the doctors and nurses who helped her heal organized a surprise visit for Hex from her rescuers.

Even after all this time, Hex has never forgotten who saved her and what they did for her. And even though she can’t talk, it was clear she was thanking the firemen when she first saw them and sprinted over with a wagging tail and showered them with kisses.

After an elderly Italian man had a heart attack while out walking his beloved dog, Nancy, he was rushed away in an ambulance to get treatment at the hospital.

Seventy-three-year-old Giovanni was resuscitated just in time, but once they arrived at the hospital, he slipped into a coma and had unfortunately made no improvements. In the month that has passed since the incident, Nancy has never given up hope and has stayed waiting the entire time at the front door for her best friend to return.

Giovanni’s daughter Deborah could tell how sad Nancy was without her father and decided to bring her in to see him after she heard about a new program that allows patients to be visited by their pets. Deborah immediately brought Nancy in to see Giovanni, and when she was placed on his bed, no one was surprised to see her tail wagging in excitement as she was finally able to be back by his side.

They were, however, very surprised when Giovanni’s facial expression changed and began gently convulsing. “She stayed close and kissed my father,” Deborah said of the special moment her father seemed to react to Nancy’s presence. “I like to think that was him saying, ‘Hello little one, now we can say goodbye.'”

Despite the special moment, doctors still don’t believe Giovanni will wake up from his coma, but his family is just glad Nancy finally got to see her best friend one last time and say goodbye, and Giovanni also looks more at peace since the visit.

Every little girl is a princess in her father’s eyes, and to make sure she knows it, one Canadian dad decided to start taking his 3-year-old daughter out on ‘date nights’ once a month.

Last week, father-of-two Noah Slomski decided to take his daughter Arianna out for some cake and ice cream to bond and so she can see how she deserves to be treated. “My husband decided once a month he will take our little girl out on a “date” where she gets all dressed up and gets taken out for cake and ice cream. Tonight was their first night doing it,” Noah’s wife Caitlin Fladager wrote in a post on Facebook.

“He helped her pick out a dress for her to wear, got a little purse ready for her, held the door open for her, and made her feel like a princess. She loved it was so happy when she got home. She will always know how she deserves to be treated because her dad sets such a high example,” Caitlin wrote.

Besides showing Arianna how she should be treated, the special daddy-daughter outings are a way for Noah to bond with his little girl. “We typically spend a lot of time together when I’m home from work anyway, but not just the two of us. All bonding time is good for strengthening a parent-child relationship, and time spent that differs from the usual routine is always enjoyable,” he said. “I feel like they have an even tighter bond now,” Caitlin said about her husband and daughter.

Animal rescue workers dedicate their lives to saving neglected and abused animals, and are unfortunately used to finding desperate animals in heartbreaking situations.

Yet rescuers from the Animal Welfare League Of Montgomery County in Indiana were completely horrified and speechless by the state of a poor cat who was found in critical condition and left to die in the middle of a corn field.

Late last Wednesday night, retired firefighter Steve Wright looked out the back of his house, which looks out onto the corn field, and noticed there were flames and smoke. He immediately ran out to see what was going on, but was shocked to discover a cat had been the source of the flames. The cat was tied up with rope and had been doused with gasoline before being lit on fire.

Miraculously, the fireworks strapped to her back hadn’t gone off and she was still alive. “It was very, very quiet. And it was moving slightly but being bound it couldn’t move much,” Wright said. Wright contacted the Animal Welfare League and rushed the scared cat, who they later named Phoenix, to the ICU at an animal hospital and started raising money for her extensive treatments.

While it’s a miracle that Phoenix survived the abuse, she faces a very long and difficult recovery and her doctors are not sure if she’ll survive. And if they can’t save her, the Animal Welfare League is determined to at least get justice for Phoenix since her abuser, 19-year-old Noah Riley, just turned himself in to police over the weekend after the shelter started spreading the cat’s story online.

Dad Brings Dying Bird Back To Life After Giving It CPR

Birds often have trouble seeing glass windows or walls, and many actually end up dying after flying and crashing into one at full speed.

So when one Australian dad spotted a kookaburra, a native Australian bird, crash into a glass wall of his home, bounce off of it, and land lifelessly in the family’s pool, he knew it would quickly die if he didn’t step in to help. And after gently fishing the bird out of the water, the determined dad got to work.

At first, the dad began giving the bird chest compressions by pressing down on the bird’s chest with his fingers. After a couple rounds, the dad decided he had to do something more since the bird showed no signs of improvement. He carefully picked the bird up, held open its beak with his other hand and blew air into its mouth.

Unfortunately, even mouth-to-mouth wasn’t enough. In a final attempt to revive the bird, the un-named dad grabbed a compressor, positioned the tube in the bird’s beak, and gave it a few quick bursts of air. Thankfully, it was exactly what the bird needed and it “straight away brought him back to life,” the man’s son said.

The stunned bird hung around its savior for a little while longer after waking up and happily let the man gently massage its back before finally flying away.

Everyone knows that our brave men and women of the military put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect their fellow Americans.

However, as we’ve seen time and time again, our selfless soldiers don’t just stop there. They are often quick to help people of all walks of life while deployed on their missions, either on or off duty; And the following amazing video proves that no life is too insignificant for them.

After seeing so much destruction and hardship while on deployment in Afghanistan, you might think our U.S. Army soldiers wouldn’t bat an eyelid at a small animal in need, but that’s exactly what the heroes in this incredible clip from Team Farce on YouTube. An Army Colonel and Major who have been honored with silver stars for their gallantry in action against the enemy show us civilians they are not above the smallest acts of kindness when they saved a newborn puppy dying under Afghanistan’s sweltering hot sun.

Reijerson and Barnett, as well as one guard and another soldier who adds some pretty hilarious commentary from behind the camera, stop to help the small pup after realizing the saline solution they had in their first aid kits could save the animal’s life. The poor pooch would have undoubtedly died in just a day or so in the heat, but now he’s got the second chance he deserved from the start.

[Team Farce]

While we aren’t sure what the soldiers did with the tiny pup, since many soldiers fall in love with the dogs they meet overseas, we’re willing to bet one of them found a good home for the little sweetheart.

Puppy Found In A Box In The Snow Makes An Unbelievable Comeback

Nothing makes me more grateful this time of year than getting to go home after work to have a warm meal in my toasty apartment.

Come January, many people around the country just like me will find it hard to resist the temptation to crank up the heat, without even stopping to recognize how fortunate they are to afford this luxury.

As we can see in the following heartbreaking, although ultimately a triumphant story, many humans are not so lucky, but many animals living on the street have it far, far worse.

According to YouTube page Animal Advocates, a tiny puppy has escaped a certain death at the hands of a true monster during one of Canada’s bitter cold winters.

“Little Star was left to die, all alone, in a box, in the dark and in the freezing cold, her desperate cries muffled by a tight rubber band around her muzzle which rotted her lips,” Animal Advocates explained on YouTube. The poor Yorkie-Poo mix was just about three months old when an evil person left her for dead in the box, thinking no one would hear her cries.

Luckily, that didn’t happen and the tiny pup’s faint yelps were just loud enough for a hero to step in and notice. “Now she’s as alive as any dog can be,” the rescuers continued. “She has a family to play with, she sleeps in a warm bed every night, and she has Shawna who will ensure that she never suffers like that again.

When stray dogs didn’t have anywhere to go during a terrible snowstorm, a mall opened its doors to provide them shelter overnight.

It all happened last week in Istanbul, where a snowstorm blanketed the area and resulted in freezing temperatures. Due to the snow, stray dogs had nowhere to go, until a group of animal-loving volunteers allowed the dogs to come into the Atrium Mall for shelter

Volunteers put cardboard for the dogs to sleep on and blankets to keep them warm, allowing the mall to serve as a makeshift shelter.

The dogs who were more than happy to have a warm place to sleep curled up on their mats and got some well-needed rest.

The kind people also fed the dogs, so they didn’t go to bed with empty stomachs.

According to One Green Planet, one of the volunteers who gathered blankets and foods for the dogs explained to CNN Turks, “All of us, if we can help as much as we can, all the stay animals will be in good shape and the street animals need help all over the world.”

Imgur user Balikadam captured a photo of the sleeping dogs and wrote: “there was a big snow storm in istanbul. this photo taken today at Atrium mall… saw that one lady was feeding them. he said let me take you pict. with dogs. no need . take only them.  she is my hero. this photo went viral in Turkey. I just wanted share with you guys.

It’s not hard to see why the photo went viral, as people could have easily ignored these homeless dogs, but instead, they did the right thing and took action.

All too often we see homeless dogs and humans in dire situations and we turn a blind eye thinking that someone else will help them. We can all take a lesson from these volunteers in Istanbul and be the person to take action when we see a helpless animal in need.

Everyone knows that these days when it comes to family, it doesn’t really matter whose names are written on a person’s birth certificate.

We’ve seen this time and time again in heartwarming stories of adoptions, reunions, or friends that become family, but it’s not so often you hear about how birth parents can come into a person’s life and completely destroy it.

That’s how South Carolina Charles Manigo feels after learning the heartbreaking news that the daughter he raised for 18 years was not actually his daughter, but someone who police have been searching for since shortly after her birth.

“I named her — a name I had for a year. Alexis Kelly,” Manigo tells ABC in the video below of his daughter, who turned out to be Kamiyah Mobley, a newborn stolen from a Florida hospital in 1998. “She was the love of my life.”

What Manigo didn’t know all these years was that his evil ex-girlfriend Gloria Williams had posed as a nurse in the maternity ward and stolen baby Kamiyah, telling him she had given birth to his child while he was away.

Williams has since been arrested for the kidnapping and Kamiyah/Alexis has been reunited with her biological parents, who told ABC News they celebrated her July 10th birthday every year, hoping some day she would return.

When she finally did return home recently, however, it was bittersweet for both her biological parents and Manigo. “The person she called dad for 18 years isn’t her dad,” Manigo said.

“She’s still my child,” he said. “I understand what’s going on, but she’s still my child.”

Talk about being in the right place at exactly the right time!

What started as a beautiful, sunny day snowboarding in the Chilean Andes mountains turned into a shocking and selfless rescue that Rafeal Pease never expected to happen on his birthday.

While Pease and a friend were snowboarding with his GoPro camera in tow, he noticed a rock in the distance that turned out to be a horse stuck in the snow.
“My 21st birthday happened to be the first storm of the season in South America, so I went out to ride some four-feet of fresh powder in Chile,” Pease wrote in a blog post for The Inertia. “However, my plans quickly changed when I thought I saw a rock in the distance but found a stranded horse instead, stuck in the snow.”

Thankfully, the heroes didn’t hesitate to rush over and dig out the terrified horse, giving her a second chance at life.

“I have been through a lot in life, and through it all I have realized that it’s well worth it to watch out for others — whether they are human or not. And that’s what me and my riding partner did. What we learned when we finally reunited the horse with its owner was that the horse had been missing for four days,” Pease wrote.

“Hopefully, this inspires you to get out there and not only live your life to the fullest, but to help others do the same.”

Are you grateful these animal angels stopped their day of riding to help this stranded horse? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget… SHARE this video!

In a video that looks too crazy to even be real, a rescue team in Maejo, Thailand is shown trying to help a puppy with its head stuck in an exhaust pipe.

It’s uncertain how this pup got himself in such a dire situation, but he didn’t even appear to be that distressed.

Credit: Viral Hog

Rescuers use an industrial scissor-like tool to split open the pipe, but they were ever-so-careful to not cause damage to the pup’s head.

One of the men tries to force the dog through the hole by pushing on its snout but the dog, who remained silent, wouldn’t budge.

The dog eventually closes its blue eyes, as it was probably in pain at that point, and rescuers resorted to covering the dog’s head with soap for lubrication.

The team tries to gently ease the dog’s lubricated head through the pipe, but when that doesn’t work, they push hard on the dog’s face.

Finally, the puppy slithers out of the pipe to the ground and then onlookers started cheering as the pup is cleaned with water. Seeming to be unfazed by the incident, the dog even wags his tail and rescuers reassure the dog by petting him.

Sadly, stray dogs are a serious problem in Thailand; it is estimated that there are over 300,000 street dogs in Bangkok alone. We are very happy this rescue was successful for this poor dog, but there has to be a way to reduce the amount of stray dogs on the street…

Most soldiers usually can’t wait until they get to finally go home and see their friends and family, and U.S. Marine Sgt. Jacob Fisher was no different.

After finishing a tour of duty, Fisher wouldn’t wait to see his wife and son, however, he was also devastated that he had to leave since it meant he would have to leave behind a small puppy that he rescued and fell in love with while in Afghanistan.

Fisher had found the tiny pup, who he later named Jax, stuck in one of the base’s animal traps. “He looked kind of miserable, shaking a lot,” Fisher said. “He was definitely cold since it was snowing.” Fisher brought him inside the base and started caring for him, and within the first week, he knew he wanted to keep Jax. “Going to Afghanistan I didn’t realize I would even see a dog on the base, let alone fall in love with a dog and want to bring him home,” Fisher said.

So when it was time to go home, Fisher reached out to the SPCA International’s Operation Baghdad Pups, who helped fly Jax halfway across the world to his new home with Fisher and his family in America. It took a few months to organize, but Jax finally made the journey to Fisher, who was waiting anxiously for their reunion.

Firefighters have no idea what they’re going to find when they arrive on the scene but are determined to save as many lives as possible no matter who they find.

So when the DC Fire and EMS arrived at a house fire, they entered the burning home so they could rescue anyone trapped inside. Instead of finding people, the firefighters discovered a 3-year-old dog named Ceasare trapped inside and was barely conscious.

Rather than give up on the dog, the firemen carefully carried the animal outside to safety and started giving it oxygen. Eventually, the traumatized dog began to wake up, however, the firefighters could tell the dog was in critical condition still and needed to get examined properly.

At just eight weeks old, puppies are still exploring the world around them and curiously examine everything in their sight.

However, one tiny 8-week-old border terrier mix learned the hard way that sometimes that curiosity could get him into trouble when he started investigating a prickly cactus, got caught in it, and ended up with hundreds of sharp needles sticking out of him.

Luckily an Arizona man was in his backyard when it happened, and heard the tiny puppy’s distressed cries. He immediately called the Arizona Humane Society, who sent an emergency rescuer. However, the good Samaritan couldn’t leave the animal in pain and started working to free him from the cactus.

By the time the rescuer arrived, the man had managed to get the puppy free and had already removed a bucket’s worth of cactus needles. The dog, later named Cactus Jack, was rushed to Arizona Humane Society’s Second Chance Animal Hospital and the rest of the needles were removed. The dog’s “good disposition never wavered. His tail never stopped wagging,” said Britta Nelson, the society’s public relations manager.

Miraculously, none of the needles damaged his eyes or mouth, and was cleared to be put up for adoption, and was quickly adopted, after a round of antibiotics.

Dogs become beloved members of the family. However, some owners are forced to say goodbye to their four-legged companions when faced with costly veterinary treatments for unexpected illnesses or injuries.

Recently, one Florida man thought he would have to put down his dog named Jaxon after armed robbers broke into his home this past Thursday night and shot him in his right eye. “Inside of our house we saw a guy running at us with a mask and a hood, and he had a gun,” said Ireneo Santos.

“At least 3, 4 rounds at first just come flying in the door hitting the door ricocheting off of everything we were scared,” Santos said of the break-in, which happened just after 1 a.m. Santos and a friend staying at the house managed to fight off one of the robbers, but not before Jaxon was hit with by a bullet.

“I see a big pool of blood right there, and I’m like oh man, I think they shot my friend, and I realized it wasn’t him, it was my dog,” said Santos, who found Jaxon bleeding from his face and crying. “It was really hard to see.” Jaxon miraculously survived but needed emergency life-saving surgery, which Santos couldn’t afford.

Santos couldn’t bare the idea of putting Jaxon down and decided to try and start a GoFundMe page to raise money for his surgery, but soon after found out that an anonymous donor went straight to the vet and paid for the entire surgery. Jaxon ended up losing his eye, but will make a full recovery and has already been sent home.

Normally, a police officer spends most of their time trying to lock up bad guys and serving their communities. However, a group of Maryland cops recently spent some extra time as interior decorators after meeting a little girl without a room of her own.

Eight-year-old Harmonie McKiver recently moved in with her grandparents and unfortunately met a group of police officers from the Anne Arundel County police when her grandma passed away. “I found my wife dead in the bathroom and my granddaughter was with me,” said George Meiklejohn, Harmonie’s grandfather. “They were trying to revive my wife. They took my granddaughter upstairs. During that time they got to know Harmonie.”

“She brought me into this bedroom, which was her uncle’s bedroom, which had holes in the wall. It wasn’t decorated and she said, ‘My pop-pop is going to make it nice for me so I can live here,’” Sgt. Dianne Venit said. Venit, who is also a mother, got the idea to decorate the bedroom for her as a surprise.

“Another officer and I got out heads together,” Venit said. “He talked to a family from Davidsonville, who donated a substantial amount of money.” Thanks to the generous donation, the officers were able to paint, furnish, and decorate the room for Harmonie and recently got the chance to surprise her with her new room.

And when Harmonie finally saw her new room, she couldn’t contain her excitement. “I really love owls, so I like my covers,” Harmonie said. “I like this blanket for owls… I really do think they’re the nicest officers in the whole wide world.”

Heroes Pull Puppy From Underground Pipe Where He Was Trapped For 3 Days

You may think being a hero to an animal means making a commitment to volunteer or pursue a career with a rescue organization, when in reality, it’s usually just about being in the right place at exactly the right time.

Here at LifeDaily, we love seeing regular people jump into action when they see an animal in need. That’s exactly what happened when two brave men in Thailand were going on a walk when they heard faint growls coming from underneath the ground. As the men moved closer, they proceeded with caution, uncertain who was hiding in the hole, but a fluff of white fur confirmed their suspicions; a tiny dog was stuck in a pipe and they knew they had to help.

As it turned out, the scared dog had been trapped in the pipe for three days and would have never survived out there on his own…

We are so grateful for everyday heroes like these guys, who stopped everything they were doing to help the poor pup. Unfortunately, not everyone would have done the same, so we can only hope their inspiring story will encourage others to do the same if they are ever faced with such a situation.

Dog Abandoned In A Parking Lot Cries For 9 Days Before She’s Rescued

With so many no-kill shelters, social media communities, and animal foster parents out there for people with unwanted pets, it’s difficult to understand how any person could be so heartless – and lazy – to just dump their animal wherever they want.

Unfortunately, some people don’t have half the hearts their pets do and take this easy way out when they can no longer afford or properly care for them. It’s a selfish way out, and it’s ultimately the pet who has to suffer or struggle to survive on their own.

Just like this story of a sweet pup who was left in a box near a shopping center, the heartbreaking video below is the best proof of how cruel it is to abandon a dog. However, this dog is one of the lucky ones…

Mary Murphy is a volunteer with the Arrow Dog Rescue of Tennessee was leaving a Memphis Sam’s Club, when she noticed a lost dog howling in the parking lot.

“He seemed to be in really good condition.” Kimberley Slown of the Arrow Dog Rescue told The Dodo last. “It really looked someone just took off her collar and drove off.” Yet what’s even more heartbreaking than the fact that a family could just dump their dog like a piece of trash is that staff reported that the poor dog, who they nicknamed “Crooner”, had been there crying out for days and days.

Murphy returned to the dog for 3.5 days before gaining her trust, sitting with the dog, reading to her and even introducing her to her own pooch. Eventually, Murphy was able to slip a collar on the dog and get her home safe and prepared for a family who is worthy of her love.

Now the sweet dog has a new family and a new name, Samantha!

It would be difficult to find a little kid who wouldn’t love to find a gigantic wrapped present address to them on their doorstep, but there is no gift that could ever be more special than the one a little boy just received…

A 5-year-old from Fayetteville, North Carolina was stunned to see the big box outside his front door and didn’t hesitate to tear it open.

“I said the lord sent him a special surprise,” the boy’s mom, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC News. However, nothing could have prepared the little boy for what was inside: his dad, a U.S. Army soldier, returning from his deployment at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

“Papa! I missed you so much!… I didn’t know you were the surprise!” the little boy says in the video which was posted to Facebook before quickly going viral.

“We have been waiting for a long time for him to come back,” the boy’s mother told ABC News. “My son kept saying he wanted to get his dad wrapped in a present for him. It was his idea. I don’t know where he got that, but he kept saying that. He [the boy’s father] wasn’t able to be here for Christmas. But when he called me and told me I’m heading home, he said, ‘I want you to get a box big enough for me to fit so we can give him a surprise.'”

The sweet boy couldn’t be happier to see his father, who he has missed so much. His mom told ABC News that her son looks up to his hero dad for everything.

“They are so close to each other,” she told ABC News. “He was having a hard time, the time my husband was not here, asking when his dad was coming home. Right now he’s so happy.”

Being confined to a shelter and having limited human interaction can be really tough on a dog.

Yet, for a 2-year-old dog named Riley, her “special gift” may just be his winning ticket out of the shelter.

Riley was brought to the Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento by a homeless person who found her wandering the streets alone. The staff at the shelter immediately fell in love with Riley and wanted to do whatever they can to help get her adopted.

“My kennel technician, Britney Ridge, fell in love with her personality and for whatever reason thought that Riley was one of those dogs that could smile,” Gina Knepp of Front Street Animal Shelter told The Dodo. “So every day during feeding and cleaning, they would talk to each other.”

It turns out that Riley can smile and has been taught to smile on cue. “Britney whipped out her phone to capture that quirky sweet smile and magic happened,” Knepp said.

In the adorable video below, Riley is shown smiling whenever Ridge says “smile,” and it’s basically the cutest thing ever.

As of January 15, Riley and her dog friend in the video were still available for adoption, so if you are interested, please call the shelter which is located in Sacramento. Riley’s ID # is A512512.
