Animal rescuers do everything in their power to save creatures in need. However, they sometimes are forced to give up on saving the animal when conditions are too dangerous or they are too sick to respond to treatment.

When rescuers from Idaho heard about two horses stranded on a remote mountain, they were determined to help. However, the horses were stuck more than 7,500 feet up Boulder Mountain in such deep snow that they were struggling to walk and no vehicles besides snowmobiles could navigate the terrain.

With no way to get the horses down the mountain in such deep snow, the group of volunteers from Idaho Horse Rescue and the Valley County Sheriff’s Office feared they’d have to leave the stranded horses to die. Thankfully, members of the community made large donations to go toward the rescue effort, which allowed them to get a helicopter to airlift one of the horses to safety.

“He’s is poor condition, he definitely wouldn’t have lasted another week or even a few days.” IHR spokesman Robert Bruno said. “We pulled a rabbit out of our hats on this one. It was a miracle.” The brown horse is expected to make a full recovery, but the other horse has unfortunately gone missing yet the team is still searching for it so they can airlift it so safety as well.

“Pilots have flown over the top of them, however, there was a period of time where nobody was able to check on them due to weather conditions which made it impossible to fly,” the sheriff’s office said. “The brown horse has been sighted several times and we can not confirm that the white horse is deceased, he may be down in the trees, as that is where he was when we made contact with them last Sunday.”

Heroes Airlift A Horse Left To Freeze On Top Of Mountain is an article from: LifeDaily

Even at just a few months old, puppies are incredibly loyal to their human companions and will do absolutely anything to protect them from harm.

So when one Texas woman was out for a walk on a popular walking and running path with her 10-month-old Rottweiler puppy named Hercules, he didn’t hesitate to protect her when a strange man appeared out of nowhere and forcefully grabbed her from behind.

This past weekend, Catalina Humphrey decided to enjoy some time outside on a beautiful day by taking Hercules on a walk on a wooded path in a Houston suburb. But while walking on the trail, a man came up behind her and grabbed her from behind. “I didn’t have a purse on me. I just had my workout gear on,” Humphrey said. “I didn’t have something that would draw me out for him to want to attack me like that. I don’t know what his intent was, but I know it wasn’t good.”

But before Humphrey even had a second to react, her 110-pound dog instantly reacted by pinning him to the ground and biting him repeatedly until he managed to get up and run away. “The minute that he ran, I saw blood on the ground,” Humphrey said. Humphrey and Hercules sprinted home and reported the attempted attack to the police. Humphrey knows she’s lucky Hercules was there to protect her, but is still shaken by the incident. “It’s still hard for me to want to leave my house, because I’m still trying to wrestle with that,” she said.

“To know he protected me … I am beyond grateful he did that,” Humphrey said about Hercules, who always knows when she is upset or afraid. “He is a hero because he saved my life.”

Rottweiler Saves Owner Seconds After Man Attacked Her is an article from: LifeDaily

A dog would do anything for the ones they care about, and when one dog saw his friend was about to be swept away, he didn’t hesitate to do whatever he could to save him.

Dog owner Rafael Franciulli regularly takes his two dogs out on hikes by a nearby river in Argentina and when they get hot, they typically like to dive in to cool off. However, on a recent trip, his black dog started getting swept away in the current and struggled to get out on his own.

Rafael threw a stick up on top of a small waterfall, but when his dog turned to come back down, he tripped and ended up getting carried down the stream. Thankfully, his best friend was waiting on the edge of the river, grabbed onto the stick in his mouth, and pulled him to safety.

The short clip of the heroic dog’s quick-thinking has quickly gone viral, and many viewers were quick to criticize Rafael for standing back and filming while his dog was being swept away in a river. However, he insists they weren’t in any real danger and the dogs are very familiar with the river since they swim in it all the time.

People fighting cancer need support from their friends and family more than anything, so when one Iowa sixth-grader found out his grandfather was sick with cancer, he decided to show his support by shaving his head.

The little boy, Jackson, told his mom his plans on Sunday and was so excited when all his hair was shaved off since it was the only way he could help his grandpa. However, when he got into school the next day, he was crushed when his classmates teased him for his new look.

Jackson’s mom was crushed to see her son so upset when he came home from school and decided to call the school’s principal, Tim Hadley. “Some of his friends came up to him and asked, ‘Hey, do you have cancer?’ or ‘Hey, baldy,'” Hadley said. “It really struck me. He’s just a kid. He’s already going through something with his grandpa. Stage four Lymphoma.”

Hadley came up with a plan and told Jackson to bring his hair clippers to school. The next day, Hadley called an unscheduled assembly with all of the staff and students. Hadley invited Jackson up with his clippers, sat down, and let Jackson shave all his hair off.

“I expect more from our students. I expect support and for us to be there for one another,” said Hadley. “Cause you know, we need each other at the end of the day.”

Police are searching for an evil health care provider after she was caught on video hitting the elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for. 

According to Memorial Village Police, Brenda Floyd is wanted for assault after causing bodily injury to Dorothy Bratten. Bratten has Alzheimer’s disease and can’t even speak for herself, which makes the video even more saddening. 

Police reports say that Floyd was supposed to be helping Bratten at her West Houston home on January 1, but when Floyd saw the victim feeding her dog ‘people food,’ she flipped out. In the disturbing video, Floyd is seen striking Bratten several times on her side as well as to the back of her head. 

Bratten’s family became concerned after noticing a few bruises and that’s when they put up a camera in the home on New Year’s Eve. When they reviewed the video the next day, they were shocked by the assault according to KHOU News 11.

Apparently, Floyd has worked for the family for about three years after being hired through the popular help website care.com. “The family felt very comfortable with her and even assisted her with purchasing a vehicle in order to be able to get transportation to come to the house to provide care and were very, very disappointed when the saw the abuse,” said Asst. Chief Ray Schultz with the Memorial Villages Police Department.

Authorities are offering a reward up to $5,000 for an arrest in this case. Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.crime-stoppers.org.

Family Catch Caregiver Mistreating 94-Year-Old Woman She’s Supposed To Be Caring For is an article from: LifeDaily

Stevoni Doyle thought she was making a difference in this foster dog’s life when she took him into her home, but it turns out he’s made a difference in her life. 

In the most incredible video we’ve seen to date, foster dog Grayce, who had just given birth to newborn puppies, picks up the puppies and brings them to Doyle’s lap one by one. 

The dog, who came into this family’s life just three weeks has already found a safe and loving home for herself and her puppies. 

In the heartwarming video, Grayce picks up each puppy in her mouth and puts them on Doyle’s lap, making for a serious puppy pile. 

Doyle says to Grace, “You are so precious. I’ve never seen a dog do this before!”

Her husband only caught Grayce piling three puppies on Doyle’s lap on camera, but there are many more before the camera started rolling.  

While we don’t know exactly why Grayce chose to put her pups in Doyle’s arms, we can only imagine it’s because she trusts her completely.

One By One, Rescue Dog Puts Each Of Her Puppies On Foster Mom’s Lap is an article from: LifeDaily

This story proves that the old saying is true- dogs are man’s best friend. 

According to the Facebook page of the Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Center, a family’s loyal dog was stabbed six times as he placed his own life at risk trying to protect his owners from their own son. 

At the family’s home in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, the dog heard a loud noise and ran to the family’s aid. 

“It’s alleged that the son wanted to stab his parents with a knife and the dog heard the screams and came to their aid, and as a result, sustained six stab wounds,” the Soweto Animal Rescue wrote on their Facebook. 

The dog has since been rescued and is receiving treatment at Kibler Park Veterinarian hospital. 

An order of protection has been granted to the parents against their son, and authorities are still searching for the suspect. 

Animal advocates and rescuers have praised this dog for his bravery and loyalty. The rescue group hopes that sharing this story will serve as an education tool to show people the incredible bond between dogs and their human families.

Loyal Dog Stabbed Six Times For Trying To Protect His Owner is an article from: LifeDaily

A rescue organization in England received a call about a baby fox who was stuck inside a drain pipe, with no way of getting out. 

Rescuers from the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service (WRAS) arrived on the scene and had no idea where the cub was located inside the drain. They tried using rods and cameras to located him, hoping the rods would encourage him to find his way to the entrance of the pipe. 

While they were working, rescuers were shocked to notice that the mother fox waited nearby and was watching them. “It was almost as if she knew we were trying to rescue her cub,” Chris Riddington, rescue manager at WRAS, said in a video about the rescue.

The rescuers walked away for a few minutes, hoping it would encourage the baby to come out on his own, but when they came back, they realized he was now in grabbing distance. 

After a few attempts, finally, one man finally managed to lift the little fox out of the drain and up to safety. The cub was filthy and soaking wet and seemed very surprised to see his rescuers. 

His bewildered and petrified face was probably due to the traumatizing incident he just experienced. 

After cleaning him up, WRAS left the fox in a pet carrier near where he was rescued in hopes that his mom would come back. When no one else was around, the mom helped her baby out of the carrier and brought him home with her. 

There was definitely a chance that this mom could have abandoned her baby, thinking the rescuers would take him, but she waited patiently for her little one. Now, that’s love…

Mother Fox Waits Patiently While Heroes Save Her Baby is an article from: LifeDaily

In a horrific case of animal abuse, a poor puppy had his coat set on fire by a group of absolute villains.

There really isn’t a silver lining in a story like this one, except for the fact that the monsters made one very awesome mistake… they left the puppy for dead. Luckily for Yoko, that didn’t happen.

“Amazing recovery of Yoko dog burned alive and left to die in agony. 30% of her body presents third-degree burns,” the dogs rescuers wrote on YouTube. “Her entire back is a bleeding swollen mass of muscles and dead tissue.”

Instead, this brave little fighter decided he wasn’t giving up without a fight and was able to overcome the unthinkable, painful tragedy that started out his life. They say everything happens for a reason and this story is definitely proof that sometimes we are tested in life to make way for the positive.

Seeing Yoko today and how this dog finally got her second chance makes us all think that everything is going to be ok!

Dog Who Was Burned Alive And Left For Dead Makes A Shocking Comeback is an article from: LifeDaily

Tyler Wilson was pumping gas at a Valero in Louisville when he saw a beautiful dog wandering around the lot. 

Naturally, Wilson thought the dog was lost and had gotten away from home since there wasn’t anyone with the dog. He decided to check the dog’s ID tag for identification and was surprised to see that there was no phone number. 

Wilson took a closer look, but instead of a phone number or address, he found a short message. “My name is Dew. I am not lost. I like to roam. Tell me to go home.” 

All Wilson had to do was tell Dew to go home and he did. Dew posted the photos on his Twitter with the caption, “Dew just likes to adventure.”

Mandey Lee stumbled upon Wilson’s Twitter and replied, “He is home napping. He had a date at the fire department this evening but he will try to fit you in later this week.”

After Wilson’s tweet went viral, people expressed their wishes for him to find Dew again. Another family member posted other photos of Dew and now he even has his own Facebook account! 

While we do not suggest that people allow their dogs to wander around their neighborhood, we do assume that Dew lives in an unpopulated area. This can be extremely dangerous for a dog, but we are glad Dew is safe and simply loves adventure.

Abandoned Pony With Horrible, Mysterious Wounds Gets A Second Chance is an article from: LifeDaily

When Whitney Meyer and her boyfriend Tomas Dean, learned they were having twins, the couple knew their girls would be unique, but they never expected just how different they would be.

Meyer, who is white, and Dean, who is black, were excited to have beautiful daughters who were a mix of each of their races. Yet when the girls were finally born last April 23 in Quincy, Illinois, the new parents were stunned to see that their fraternal twins each took after one of them.

Kalani and Jarani do look related, but maybe more like cousins than twins. Kalani is fair just like her mom and Jarani has darker skin, just like Dad.

“Kalani was as white as can be. I was just in denial, because you know the odds of this?”, Meyer said in an interview with TODAY. “I would never think I would have a black and white twin. That’s why I asked if she was albino, because she was just so white.”

Dean told TODAY he too was completely shocked when his daughters were born. “I was like, ‘Yeah, she’s a little light,’ but I thought maybe babies are that way when they’re first born. But then a couple of minutes later, her sister came out a little darker,” said Dean. “In a million years, I never thought I’d have a girl with blue eyes. I didn’t think I could pull that one off!”

According to BBC, the chances of having children born with different complexions is one in 500 for interracial couples. Add the fact that the Dean girls are twins to the mix and those odds skyrocket to more like one in a million.

Meyer, who also has a 7-year-old caucasian son from a previous relationship,  says people are surprised her daughters are twins everywhere she goes. Yet something unexpected happened when she recently shared photos of her “chromosome twins” on Facebook: their story instantly went viral, sparking unity and love across the globe.

“I hope that a lot of people can see that color really isn’t a big thing. What’s important is love,” Dean told TODAY. “Mysterious things can happen and life is a blessing.”

Sweet Photo Of Biracial Twin Girls Spreads Love Around The Internet is an article from: LifeDaily

A rescue organization, Animal Aid Unlimited, received a call about a street dog in Udaipur, India trapped in a drum of tar. 

When the team arrived at the scene, it appeared the dog had been encased in the tar for several days and appeared to be dead. 

But, then they saw her breathing- she was unable to move and was terrified and hyperventilating. Rescuers wrote, “She was completely glued by the tar to the metal barrel.” They realized they would have to cut the drum open in order to get her out.

They covered the dog with a blanket to protect her and when they opened up the drum, the dog’s body had sunk deep into the hot tar- it was heartbreaking!

Rescuers couldn’t get her out where they were, so they carried the dog in the drum to Animal Aid. 

The men began to soak the rock-solid tar in vegetable oil to soften it, although, even getting her out of the barrel was a huge challenge. 

Once the dog was out, they could see her burned skin… 

She had been without water for so long, that she lapped up everything they gave her. It took rescuers three hours to remove the tar from her fur, and it was then that she was able to stand on her own. 

They named her Asha, which means Hope in Hindi, and if you saw her today, you wouldn’t believe it.

Thanks to Animal Aid for rescuing this angel, whose situation seemed hopeless!

Dog Who Turned Rock-Solid In Hot Tar Makes An Incredible Recovery is an article from: LifeDaily

After battling a life-threatening chronic disease her entire life, one Canadian mom had prepared her family for the every possible outcome and told them that she would try anything if there was a chance she would recover.

So when Benoit developed an infection in her lungs that spread to her entire body, she was put in an induced coma and her husband and mother knew she wanted to fight to stay alive. “Having a chronic disease like cystic fibrosis meant that you talked about the ifs and the whens, about end-of-life care what would happen in certain situations, which I think, is important for anybody to talk about, even if you don’t have a chronic illness,” said mother-of-one Melissa Benoit.

“I would want to fight to the end as long as there was a reasonable chance of recovery,” Benoit said. They knew she would “want to fight for my daughter Olivia, I would want to be back with my family again.” So her husband and mom agreed when her doctors explained a risky plan that involved keeping her alive without lungs, which had never been done before.

Benoit needed a lung transplant, but she was going to die before they were able to find a matching donor, so doctors decided to remove her lungs entirely and used state-of-the-art technology to circulate her blood. For six days, Benoit lived without lungs. After the sixth day, doctors finally found her a match, performed a double-lung transplant, and then brought her out of the coma.

“The last day that I remember was Easter Sunday of 2016, and then I woke up in another hospital unable to move, unable to speak and I didn’t know what happened,” said Benoit, who just recently woke up from the coma. “I remember waking up and my mom was there, and she said, ‘Hi Melissa.’ And I couldn’t say hi and I couldn’t really figure it out but she explained what had happened and I didn’t really believe her at all.”

However, she could immediately feel the difference when she took her first breath because it was the first time in her entire life she could breathe with ease. Benoit still has a long road ahead of her but is thrilled to finally go home after six months in the hospital. “I don’t want to go anywhere except home, I want to enjoy my home again.”

Mom Survives 6 Days Without Lungs Before Getting A Transplant is an article from: LifeDaily

No matter how cute and cuddly some wild animals are, they are still wild animals and belong in the wild and rescuers from the Laos Wildlife Rescue Center shared a recent rescue to show why some animals should never be kept as pets.

This past month, a rescue team from the Laos Wildlife Rescue Center (LWRC) was contacted by a Laos family who had kept a pig-tailed macaque named Sii as a pet for the past 12 years, and finally realized that keeping him in a cage wasn’t the best thing for him.

“Sii had been kept as a pet for over 12 years by a family who loved him dearly but now realized both [they] and Sii needed help to resolve the situation they found themselves in,” LWRC said about the animal that had been locked up in an old, rusty cage for over a decade.

“Their ‘cute’ looks as babies are often what makes people believe this is a good idea, however as babies grow up they often become difficult or aggressive as it is not in their nature to be kept inside a house or locked away in small cages,” LWRC said.

The rescuers cut him free from his prison, but because he’s spent his entire life in captivity and was blind in one eye and had rotting teeth, the team couldn’t release him back into the wild. Thankfully, however, he was given treatment once back at the rescue center and will make a new home at the sanctuary where he can roam free in a ‘primate field’ with other animals with similar pasts. “We believe he has good chances to find himself in one of our primate fields soon enough,” LWRC said.

Monkey Is Freed After Being Locked Up In Cage For 12 Years is an article from: LifeDaily

Drivers should always drive responsibly and carefully, but it’s even more important when there are animals in the back without any harnesses or animal seatbelts.

Without any seatbelt, animals are left completely unprotected in an accident, and even small accidents can be deadly to them. Unfortunately, when Missouri woman Emily Woodrum started driving, she didn’t care that there were 103 puppies in the back of her truck and recklessly started speeding.

Woodrum had been driving outside a small town in upstate New York to deliver the puppies to local malls when she lost control of the truck. Because she was driving too fast, the truck flipped off the side of the road and landed in a ditch off the interstate.

State troopers arrived quickly and miraculously managed to pull out every single puppy from the overturned vehicle. Out of the 103 puppies, only five were injured but thankfully none had any life-threatening injuries. The puppies, who police believe come from a puppy mill, were brought to the Finger Lakes SPCA but unfortunately have to be given back to their owner.

“While we too abhor puppy mills, we know of no means to legally confiscate animals only because there is a strong likelihood that a puppy came from one,” the group said in a post. “A formal release of ownership for these animals is being pursued.”

Cops Rescue 103 Puppies From An Overturned Truck is an article from: LifeDaily

People who work at animal shelters are trusted to care and protect every animal that comes into their care, which is why what one shelter worker did to an innocent dog is so disgusting.

This past Sunday, the owners of a Florida animal shelter started to worry when a small Shih Tzu in their care suddenly had a broken leg since an animal’s health is only supposed to improve once in their care. The shelter investigated the incident, and after watching their security footage, they realized one of their own workers was responsible.

In the footage, Joseph Tyler Pendergrass can be seen holding the tiny dog’s leash, swinging it in the air, and then finally slamming the dog into the concrete floor. Pendergrass is then seen dragging the dog, who was too injured to walk, out of the frame.

The horrified shelter owners immediately contacted police and turned in the disturbing footage, and Pendergrass is now wanted for felony animal cruelty charges. “How someone can do this to an animal is inconceivable, and quite frankly, alarming,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. “If you can harm an innocent animal like this, I have to wonder if you can harm a human being with the same level of malice.”

“Mr Pendergrass, I’ve told everyone before that if you hurt an animal in Brevard County, you’re going straight to jail,” he said. “So the best thing for you to do is man up, do the right thing by turning yourself in, and face the consequences of your actions.”

For the past five years, 31-year-old actor Chris Salvator lived across the hall from his 89-year-old neighbor Norma Cook. But recently, the distance between the two has gotten even shorter after Salvator invited Cook to move in.

After months of saying hello through their kitchen windows, Salvator finally knocked on Cook’s door and introduced himself. “She offered me a glass of Champagne — it’s her favorite drink — and we just sat down and talked,” he said. “We connected right away.” That was about five years ago, and they’ve been friends ever since.

Last year, however, Salvator lost his neighbor for about two months when she got Leukemia and pneumonia, but when she was finally strong enough to go home, doctors wouldn’t let her back in her apartment without 24-hour care. Cook couldn’t afford it but Salvator knew how much she wanted to be home and raised over $50,000 through a GoFundMe account.

The money was a great help, but unfortunately, it didn’t last long. Without funds to pay for 24-hour care, Cook would be forced to move into a facility. “The only other option was for her to go into a facility. I just couldn’t do that to someone who is like my own grandmother,” Salvator said.

“She does not want to budge,” said Salvatore, who decided to ask Cook to move in to help her save money. “My apartment was the only place she would have moved. She has strong opinions about where she wants to carry out the rest of her days, and she wants to stay here.”

“The nurses and doctors told her that it would be a miracle if she lived past the holidays, so the fact that she’s still thriving is just a really great thing,” Salvator said. “Moving her in… it feels as though it was meant to be all along. It’s really fulfilling to be there for her.”

31-Year-Old Invites Sick 89-Year-Old Neighbor To Move In With Him is an article from: LifeDaily

The rescue organization, Hope for Paws, received a call about a pit bull who had been living in a tiny pipe for many weeks. 

For months, people had seen the dog wandering around the fields of an oil refinery, but eventually, he found a “safe place” in one of the pipes. When Hope for Paws rescuers arrived at the refinery they couldn’t see the pit bull, but they heard him growling. They had to be careful not to spook him into running out of the pipe. 

Once they secured a cage on the other end of the pipe, volunteers were able to lure him out, although the dog wasn’t happy. 

After going so long without human contact, he didn’t know that he could trust rescuers. 

The pit bull, who they named Tank, continued to bark at them and didn’t calm down until two hours later when they arrived at the animal hospital. There, Tank ate a nice meal and received pets from the humans who promised him he would never be homeless again. 

All it took was a few hours of TLC and Tank completely transformed! His tail was wagging and he was running over to everyone looking for cuddles. 

After receiving medical care, Tank continued to his foster home, but he’s still looking for a family to adopt him, so if you are interested, please contact Hope for Paws.

Homeless Pit Bull Lived In Pipe For Weeks Before Help Arrived is an article from: LifeDaily

Despite being over 100 years old, one Arkansas woman refuses to slow down and regularly visits her local Walmart to get her shopping done and keep busy.

Over the years, the store’s employees have gotten to know 104-year-old Geneva Kendrick, and they’ve become like family to her. “When she comes in the store, she pushes her own buggy. She loads her stuff up on the conveyer belt,” said Kris Hudson, Walmart associate. “Everyone is so friendly and nice and I enjoy talking to them,” Kendrick said.

So when Kendrick’s 104th birthday was approaching, the employees got together and decided they wanted to do something special for her to show how much they cared about her. Together, they organized a surprise birthday with balloons, cake, and a present.

When the day came, the employees guided Kendrick into the store’s break room and revealed their surprise. “It couldn’t be better! It’s the most wonderful one I’ve ever attended,” said Kendrick, who broke down in tears when she walked in and saw the entire party was just for her. “Extra, extra special. I can’t explain how special it really was and is,” Kendrick said. “Mrs. Geneva is someone very special to us. We figured it was the least we could do for her,” Hudson said.
