Adorable Little Boy Loses Race Because He Wanted To Hug His Dad

A photo of a Nigerian boy has gone viral after he lost a race for the sweetest reason!

This Tuesday, Imoh Umoren tweeted a photo of his two-year-old son, Imoh Umoren II with the caption, “My son finished 4th in the race because instead of running across the finish line he ran to hug me. Ah well won my heart.” The tweet has received over 14,000 likes and is warming the hearts of many across the internet.

Umoren is an indie film director who lives in Lagos, and he explained to the Huffington Post that Imoh just started attending his school, which held a sports competition this week.

“It was his first race, but we had been rehearsing all week in the front yard,” Umoren said. On the day of the race, Imoh had a strong start, but “it sort of fell apart when he spotted me taking a picture of him and came to hug me.”

“I think part of it may be that he always ran into my arms while we were doing our little training at home,” he added. “But he’s a bit of a hugger, and maybe to him, that is a natural ending to a race: run into daddy’s arms.”

After the warm embrace, Umoren tried to get his son back on course. “I was telling him to stop, but he couldn’t figure out why he had to,” the dad recalled. “He ran towards me giggling, so I had to explain to him he had to get to the finish line. I don’t think he realized it was a competition!”

Imoh did eventually get back into the race and finished in fourth place. In a later event that day, he had a chance to redeem himself and he won third place!

Umoren said his son is an incredibly sweet kid. “I’m just really lucky to have him,” he told the Huffington Post. “One time I was trying to teach him numbers, and he was struggling a bit with it. When he saw I was slightly disappointed, he said ‘I’m sorry’ and gave me a hug. I mean, I cried a little because he earnestly gives everything his best effort.”

“He’s a pretty smart kid for his age and can sense when you’re having a bad day and literally come and kiss you and offer you water,” Umeron said, adding, “I’m trying to raise him to be a good man because in a crumbling world we need some sunlight.”

Dad Shares Heartbreaking Message To Wife Who’s Carrying Their Baby

There is nothing more devastating for a couple to lose their child. And when that child doesn’t even have the chance to live even one day of their life, there can be many other heartbreaking and difficult obstacles for parents in mourning.

This is the exact scenario a brave couple from Oklahoma have been faced with, but instead of letting the tragedy bring them pain and suffering, Royce and Keri Young have made a decision to let their unborn daughter’s death bring life to other babies in need.

At just 20 weeks pregnant, doctors told Keri and her husband that their unborn second child, a girl, had a very unlikely chance of surviving more than a few hours or days due to a life-threatening birth defect.

[Royce Young]
Realizing the severity of anencephaly, a rare disease in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull, and with support from her husband, Keri decided that she would carry her daughter to full term, another 20 weeks, in hopes of helping other newborns who need life-saving transplants.

The would-be mother shared the reasons for her difficult decision for the daughter she would name Eva with friends and strangers on Facebook.

“We learned her whole heart would not be eligible for transplant and that was disappointing. But then we learned her heart valves would be eligible along with her kidneys and liver and maybe pancreas. We could also donate her lungs to research. We’d get the opportunity to meet her recipients if they wanted to meet us,” Keri wrote on Facebook.

Amazed by his wife’s bravery and selflessness, Royce Young also took to Facebook to pen a beautiful note praising the incredible mother of their two-year-old son Harrison.

“Donating was on Keri’s mind from darn near the second we found out and while the experience of holding and kissing our daughter will be something we cherish forever, the gift(s) she’s got inside that little body of hers is what really matters. Keri saw that almost instantly,” Royce wrote on Facebook.

“There’s another family out there hurting and hoping for a miracle for their baby, knowing full well someone else’s baby will need to die first. Eva can be that miracle,” the father wrote.

Dog Dumped At Gas Station By Evil Owners Is Now Their Most Popular Employee

Everything happens for a reason and that’s exactly why a dog who no one wanted was dumped in a place where his evil owner thought he would be left for dead.

Sabrina Plannerer of Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil is the owner of a Shell gas station that went under construction for renovation about two years ago. When she and her partner discovered a dog who had been abandoned on the site by his former owners, she was heartbroken by how terrified he was to leave and knew she had to help the dog she named Negão.

“We adopted him immediately and got him all the care animals need,” Plannerer told The Dodo. “We took him to the vet to get vaccinated and de-wormed. We bought him food, a dog house, and a leash to take him on walks.”

However, Plannerer didn’t just give Negão a new home and family, but a job to go with it. The former stray may not be able to pump any gas, but he now provides entertainment and a smiling face to customers.

[Instagram / Sabrina Plannerer]
“Negão waits for people to arrive, and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms,” Plannerer said to The Dodo. “Customers love him. Some people even bring him toys.”

[Instagram / Sabrina Plannerer]
Now, because the gas station is attended 24/7 by staffers, Negão will always have a human to look out for the dog. The abandoned dog has even become the “poster-pup” for local charity organization Grupo FERA, which pairs up homeless pets with businesses in the area that can provide shelter.

“It’s been sensational, encouraging people to have more respect for animals,” a spokesperson from Grupo FERA said to The Dodo. “And workers enjoy having the companionship of a 4-legged colleague.”

Plannerer now hopes that Negão’s incredible story will inspire other business owners to take in dogs who have nowhere to call home. After all, who can argue that a happy, rescued animal wouldn’t put smiles on customers’ faces?

Cops Find Missing Toddler In Prickly Blackberry Bush After Disappearing At Night

There’s not much more terrifying for a parent to wake up and realize their son or daughter is not in their bed, where they left them. Yet for one Portland, Oregon mother who found herself in such a scary situation, police have been left with way more questions than answers.

“I’m pretty beside myself. I’m devastated. I’m scared,” River’s mother, Hollian Markusen, 27, told the local website. “My son was lost. My beautiful, 2-year-old boy who I’ve never been away from for more than a couple of hours his entire life.”

When Markusen woke up around 6 a.m. Saturday morning, she realized her two-year-old son River Schomaker was missing and called the police. Her son’s father, Aaron Schomaker hadn’t returned home until about an hour earlier from his late-night shift as a bartender.

[PORTLAND PD]
A manhunt soon ensued with the entire neighborhood out searching for the little boy. Thankfully, he was soon sniffed out by a police K9 in a dangerous brush of thorned blackberry bushes behind a supermarket nearby.

Although the boy was just about one block away from home, he was out in the elements for hours, barefoot and wearing just a onesie in the cold.

[PORTLAND PD]
“To think that he was running around in these bushes, just thank God he’s OK,” neighbor Shannon Kleflin told KGW. While the boy’s mother said he went missing early in the morning, Kleflin fears the toddler was lost much earlier in the night, when another neighbor spotted him and assumed one of his parents was nearby.

“My neighbor said he looked out the window about 1 a.m or 2 a.m. in the morning and saw the little boy playing in between the two cars here, and then he took off up the street,” Kleflin recalled.

“You don’t want to hear that the parents did something bad, but you also don’t want to hear them demonized in the event it was an accident,” another neighbor Dax Mayer told KGW.  The little boy has since been taken into protective custody until authorities can determine whether the Schomakers home is a safe environment.

Cops have urged parents to be more aware of what their children are doing to prevent anything from happening to them. “This is just a really good reminder for parents out there if you have little ones, get those child locks,” Police Sgt. Jeff Helfrich said at a press conference, according to KOIN-TV. “Put those on there. Pay attention to your kids if they wander around because these things happen. You may not think it happens to you, but it will.”

How do you believe this boy’s mother should be punished for her negligence?

Mom Sends Son In College ‘Care Package’ Of Trash He Forgot To Take Out

A few weeks ago, college student Connor Cox received a package in the mail from his mom that he assumed was a “care package” containing necessities and goodies.

“I was thrilled, because it’s like Christmas when you get mail from family when you’re in college,” Connor told BuzzFeed News. But when he opened the box, there was a lot of wrapping and some kind of tissue paper concealing what was inside.

It turned out that Connor’s mom had sent him a package of trash that he was too lazy to take out when he was home for holiday break. You can understand Connor’s disappointment to be given such a ‘shitty’ package, but he couldn’t help but share the photos of his ‘box of trash’ on Twitter.

“Thought my mom was sending me a care package… but instead she sent me a box of trash I was supposed to take out,” Connor wrote.

Connor’s mom, Terri, who lives in Leonardtown, Maryland, clearly doesn’t take shit from anyone, not even her son attending Westminster College in Pennsylvania. “I have raised and taught Connor better than this, and his actions deserve consequences — even if they are humorous,” Terri told BuzzFeed News.

Apparently, Connor made a verbal agreement with his mom that when he was home, he would carry out all of his normal duties and chores. “I guess I thought I could get away with it all and have her clean it up, but she showed me otherwise,” Connor said.

Connor then admitted that the trash on the floor was only one portion of the trash he was supposed to take out. “Most of the trash was hidden in my clothes drawers,” he said. As far as digging himself in any deeper holes, Terri thought his ‘care package’ of garbage was enough punishment.

When all was said and done, Connor and his mom were able to laugh about it. “My mom always had a huge sense of humor,” he said. Kerri added, “His room should be left the way it was when he came home for Christmas break, which I cleaned before he came home.”

Has your parent ever taught you a lesson like this?

Most kids get excited about Santa Claus or their favorite Disney character, but 3-year-old Tatum from Sherman, Texas, gets excited when he sees his local garbage truck.

According to his parents, little Tatum Jaye looks forward to every week when he knows he will see the garbage truck and watch his favorite toy come to life. “I love garbage trucks,” Tatum told KXII TV

Credit: News 12

Every Wednesday, Tatum wakes up early to stand outside his house and watch the garbage truck pick up his trash. “He comes out every week, I usually honk the horn and everything,” Mike Easley said, who drives a Sherman garbage truck.

“He sits there and waves, waves him down, points at the trash can,” said Spencer Jaye, Tatum’s dad. Mike Easley enjoys seeing Tatum smiling at the corner each week as he drives the garbage truck through the neighborhood. It actually has turned into being the highlight of his day, every Wednesday.

But this time Easley passed by Tatum’s home, he decided to stop by a little longer at Tatum’s house. “Well today, he stopped and let Tatum get in the cab of the garbage truck, play with the buttons, play with the controls,” Tatum’s dad said. Tatum hopped into the garbage truck and even got to honk the horn. “It’s the loudest horn,” Tatum said.

In the video Tatum’s dad posted on Facebook, Tatum learns about the button inside the truck and even gets to help pick up and dump his own trash. “He was shocked, he was overwhelmed, he was overjoyed,” Tatum’s dad Spencer said.

While Mike has been on the job for four years, he says he’s never seen anyone with Tatum’s excitement and appreciation for what he does. “I could be having a bad day, but when I see a little boy come out and want me to honk the horn and see his smile, it makes the job worth while,” Mike said.

“Thank you Mike,” Tatum said. Tatum is already counting down the days to next Wednesday when he will be at the curb, smiling and waving to his new friend Mike. See you next week, see you next Wednesday,” Mike said.

Adorable Pink Dog And Her Brother Were Abandoned At Shelter

Most dogs are sadly dropped off anonymously at shelters, and this was the case for two Boxers who were later named Artie and Asia.

On February 13, a pink pup and his buddy were waiting outside the Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter in Wildomar, California. Jennifer Glover, a registered veterinary technician for the shelter, was the first to meet the dogs that day, and she told PEOPLE, “I felt so badly for Artie and Asia when I first saw them. But I encouraged by the fact that we would be able to start helping them.”

Both dogs appeared to be suffering from a treatable skin condition called Demodex mange, and one of the dogs was noticeably pink in coloring. He almost looked like a pink Dalmatian. Glover added, “They were very sweet when they arrived but they were depressed. Within just one day of having someone care for them here, they were so much happier and more outgoing.”

Asia, the pink Boxer is 10-months-old and Artie is 2-years-old, and they suffer from the common infestation of the skin by tiny, eight-legged mites. It causes hair loss and pain and can be cured with good treatment. In addition, Asia has a grade 2-3 heart murmur, which would require an echocardiogram and Artie has some eye concerns.

But, so far, according to Glover, the pups have been responding well to treatment and have been given medicated shampoo and pain management. Luckily, both of them were offered to go to Last Chance at Life, where they will be given the chance to find loving homes.

“I was lucky enough to get to pick them up and take them on their Freedom Ride to LCAL,” says Niccola Gentile, a volunteer, who loves participating in the freedom rides. “Asia came right out of the kennel to leave with me, while Artie was still nervous and took some coaxing to get a leash on him. But once out, he was so excited! Asia just wanted to be with him and would focus all her energy on getting next to him; unless of course, she was trying to give you kisses.”

Lisa Hamilton, founder and president of LCAL says there’s already interest in these two boxers by a family who has lost one of its boxers to cancer. “I assure you they were both unsettled with being dumped but they know very quickly that the staff at Animal Friends of the Valleys and the volunteers at LCAL are their ‘friends’ and there to help them,” says Hamilton. “They are with us until we find their perfect home.”

We are very grateful to all of these incredible organizations for giving these dogs a second chance at life

A video posted to Facebook by Bass Masters And Fish Experts shows an excited little boy attempting to reel in a large fish while fishing with two older men- likely his family, from a pier.

You hear one of the men warning the boy in the video, “Connor, there’s an alligator coming.” But, apparently, this warning came too late.

The alligator snatched Connor’s catch in its jaws and swims way. The determined little boy even tries to pull the fish out of the gator’s mouth, but its grip is just too strong. “There’s no way you’re bringing that in, buddy,” one of the men says.

One of the men tries to distract the gator by hitting the side of the pier with his arm, but the reptile was determined to eat the fish. “You need to cut your line,” one of the men tells the little boy as the gator swims away with his catch.

While the location of the incident isn’t reported by Bass Masters and Fish Experts on their Facebook post, this video was likely taken in Florida.

We have to give the boy credit, because almost reeling in a fish that big doesn’t happen every day, especially not for such a young boyLuckily, no one besides the fish was eaten in this video.

Selfless Doctor Donates A Kidney To Save Colleague’s Life

Doctors take an oath to help the sick, but one California doctor just went above and beyond to help a sick colleague who was dying and desperately needed a kidney.

Fifty-one-year-old surgeon Dr. Colleen Coleman has known anesthesiologist Brian Dunn, 45, for more than a decade, working together in the operating room over the years. Their relationship had only ever been professional, but when Coleman heard that Dunn’s kidneys were failing, she stepped up and offered to donate on of her own.

Photo by Cindy Yamanaka, Orange County Register/SCNG

But first, Coleman had to be tested to be sure she was a match and admitted that she was having second thoughts and was slightly relieved when the test results said they weren’t a match. “What if I died in the process?” she asked herself. But then the testing company called back months later and explained that they had made a mistake. The two were a match, and Coleman knew she had to help Dunn. “I didn’t want his daughter to grow up without a dad,” said Coleman, whose mother had died when she was six.

Photo by Cindy Yamanaka, Orange County Register/SCNG

Coleman and Dunn recently went through with the surgery, which went exactly as planned, and just three weeks later Dunn is feeling better than he has in years. “I am so excited about what a new kidney will mean to my life. First and foremost, it will greatly prolong my life. I’ve been told that every year on dialysis takes three years off your life. The transplant list in California is about 15 years long – 15 years of dialysis wouldn’t leave me much life even if I eventually got one through that route,” the emotional doctor wrote in an email thanking Coleman for her selfless gift.

“The most distressing part of this process was thinking of my 7-year-old daughter, Caroline, growing up without a father. She’s a tough kid, but she’s also a ‘daddy’s girl.’ I need to be there for her. And this kidney will help that be possible,” Dunne wrote. “Monday, January 30th is a day I’ll remember forever. It’s the day that someone did something truly selfless for me. Colleen, you are an answer to prayer and an amazing example to everyone around you. Thank you for your sacrifice.”

Three-year-old Madison Austin fell in love with the Hokey Pokey dance since the day she first heard it from her mom’s iPad.

Madison’s mom, Krista Austin, told TODAY Parents, “Ever since she watched the Hokey Pokey video, she was hooked on it and watched it multiple times.” “After all that Madison has been through in her life, she is the happiest, funniest, spunkiest, most polite child ever,” Austin continued.

Madison was born with Neuronal Migration Disorder, a rare birth defect that affects brain and muscle development and she breathes with the help of a tracheostomy tube. She was admitted to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, in early February after her oxygen levels dropped and she began having seizures.

Madison was then diagnosed with the flu, rhinovirus and three different infections and she’s been hospitalized ever since. “The doctors advised that it could take up to a month for her lungs to get back to normal,” said Austin.

The day Austin showed her daughter the Hokey Pokey video, her eyes lit up and it was clear she enjoyed the song and dance. Madison then shared her love for the Hokey Pokey with her nurses and asked for them to come to her hospital room for a “Hokey Pokey party.”

Natalie Serra, a nurse at St. John’s Hospital was happy to organize the party and she recruited nurses and therapists to perform the song for Madison. The hospital posted the video on their Facebook and it has since made a lot of people smile. The video shows Madison clapping her hands and singing as hospital staff dance around her.

According to TODAY, Serra said that she and her fellow hospital staff have all connected deeply with Madison over her years as a patient. “She’s been pretty sick this stay,” said Serra. “So it’s been really nice to see her kind of turn a corner. She lit up just being on the bed, bouncing and smiling.”

Cop Saves School Bus Carrying 18 Kids Before It’s Hit By A Truck

Police officers dedicate their lives to serving their communities and doing whatever it takes to protect those in it. That’s why when one Kazakh police officer realized a bus full of small children was in immediate danger, he did everything he could to save them.

At around 10:50 a.m. chief police officer Murat Nurseitov was out on patrol with his partner when he spotted a large, speeding truck about to crash into a school bus full of small children. With just seconds to decide, the brave officer could only see one way to save the kids and didn’t hesitate to act even though it meant he might not survive.

“A 50-year-old driver of a Kamaz (a Russian heavy vehicle manufacturer) truck turned the wheel into oncoming traffic,” said the Pavlodar Internal Affairs Department in a statement. “In order to prevent the Kamaz from crashing into a bus with 18 children and four supervisors, chief police officer Murat Nurseitov without hesitation put his patrol car across the road.”

Seconds later the truck plowed into the patrol car, which was completely destroyed upon impact. But thanks to the officer’s bravery, none of the 18 children or four adults on the school bus heading to a sports competition were injured. Nurseitov, however, suffered serious injuries but was stabilized after being rushed to the hospital. His partner, Bayanbek Zhunusov, suffered minor injuries but managed to walk away from the accident, which should have been fatal.

Wisconsin Preschool Teacher Donates Kidney To Her Student

Last October, Dena Carreyn’s 4-year-old daughter Lyla became suddenly ill.

Dena shared with Babble that her daughter was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune-related vasculitis known as Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA), which caused damaging kidney failure. After nine long months of treatment, it became apparent that Lyla desperately needed a kidney transplant.

Dena and her family launched a nationwide search to find a compatible donor for Lyla and they hoped that someone, somewhere would be willing to help their little girl. Finally, Dena got the amazing news that Lyla’s preschool teacher, Beth Battista was a perfect match and would be donating her kidney to Lyla.

The emotional moment was caught on video and later shared in a Facebook post on Dena’s page, where it has since gone viral. “Last Friday, I was called into Lyla’s school, Kids Express Learning Center,” Dena wrote in the September 15 post.

“I was told a new teacher was starting, and I needed to meet with her. You see, every time Lyla gets a new teacher, I have to train that person re: Lyla’s medical conditions, medications, etc. It’s a whole thing. So I show up at the school, and Lyla’s two current teachers are there, and they tell me the new teacher is on her way. And then they give me a present. And then this happened.”

ln the video, Dena is seated alongside school staff and presented with a box. Inside the box, she finds a note that tells her the incredible news: Beth is a perfect match and she’s going to be Lyla’s donor.

Beth is Lyla’s preschool teacher and she wrote, “I may just be her teacher now, but soon a little piece of me will be with Lyla forever.” The note is signed, “I’m Lyla’s kidney donor.”

“When I opened the package and read the note, it took a moment to sink in,” Dena tells Babble. “As soon as I realized what was happening, I was elated. The feelings were very similar to what I experienced the day Lyla was born; Lyla is getting a second chance at life, thanks to Beth.”

Credit: Dena Carreyn

“I just had a feeling when I first heard about Lyla being sick,” she tells Babble. “It was something inside me that said I needed to get tested. After searching the entire country, it in a true miracle that I am her match. I feel blessed to be able to save her life and give her the future she deserves.”

Beth Battista is a wife and mother of two children and besides being a hero every day to her students, she has become Lyla’s greatest hero.

Credit: Dena Carreyn

Now, months after the successful transplant, both Beth and Lyla are well on their way to recovery. While Lyla is still recovering at the hospital a week after the transplant, Beth was able to return home two days later. “48 hours of discomfort or pain is a small price to pay for saving somebody’s life,” Carreyn said. “I hope other people would be able to do it, and to save more lives.”

“Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude,” Dena tells Babble. “How do you possibly thank someone for saving your child’s life? Words are not enough. Beth will forever be a part of our family.”

Toddlers can quickly get themselves into trouble when left unsupervised and one Chinese mom learned this lesson the hard way after leaving her toddler to go to work.

According to the mother, the little girl had locked herself in the room, and while unsupervised, made her way out onto the room’s balcony. The little girl accidentally slipped through the metal grate and was left hanging by her neck four stories above the ground.

Thankfully, the little girl’s screams alerted nearby workers and pedestrians, who immediately went and found a quilt, and held it out below her in case she dropped to the ground. Meanwhile, two brave workers immediately started climbing up the next building over.

While one of the brave heroes pulled her up to take some pressure off her neck, the other began cutting her free. After an hour, the men were finally able to free the little girl, who was stunned from the accident but walked away with no physical injuries.

Dad Doesn’t Need To Hear Son’s In Trouble, He Just Needs To See An ‘X’

Ben Fulks is a dad and a youth minister who works with teenagers struggling with addiction issues in Huntington, West Virginia.

According to Scary Mommy, Fulks asked a room full of recovering teens if they’d ever found themselves in uncomfortable situations where they couldn’t find a way out. The teens’ reactions floored Fulks because every single one of them raised their hands. Since then, he wrote a blog post about how the teens’ reactions changed the way he interacts with his own children.

Fulks wrote, “I can’t count the times sex, drugs, and alcohol came rushing into my young world; I wasn’t ready for any of it, but I didn’t know how to escape and, at the same time, not castrate myself socially. I still recall my first time drinking beer at a friend’s house in junior high school—I hated it, but I felt cornered. As an adult, that now seems silly, but it was my reality at the time.”

He wanted to break the cycle of peer pressure for his own family and make sure his kids felt comfortable coming to him if they were ever in an uncomfortable situation. That’s when he developed what he calls the “X-Plan” for his teenage children.

For example, if his son Danny is dropped off at a party and wants to leave, all Danny needs to do is text the letter “X” to any member of the family. The family member will then call Danny and follow a simple script:

Danny can then remove himself from the situation without feeling embarrassed in front of his peers for leaving. “He has the freedom to protect himself while continuing to grow and learn to navigate his world,” says Fulks.

The most important part of the X-Plan is that the family member who comes to the rescue cannot ask questions or pass judgment. This may be hard for some parents and Fulks admits it’s easier said than done.

“This can be a hard thing for some parents (admit it, some of us are complete control-freaks); but I promise it might not only save them, but it will go a long way in building trust between you and your kid,” he says.

Although, Fulks writes, that there is one rule: Danny (or any other kid) must speak up if they know another friend is in trouble. “This is one of the most loving things we’ve ever given him, and it offers him a sense of security and confidence in a world that tends to beat our young people into submission.”

Fulk’s blog post has been viewed more than 1 million times and parents and teachers have been praising him for encouraging open communication at home. You can read it by clicking here

Hero Cop Revives Baby Who Was Dead For Four Minutes

When one Georgia couple woke up one morning this past month, they went to check on their one-month-old twins and were confronted with every parent’s nightmare.

One of their twins, Amir, had stopped breathing and had no pulse. “We really thought it was over honestly. It was real scary,” said mom Chucquel Davis about her preemie baby who suffers from acid reflux. “He was blue.” The frantic couple called 9-1-1, and Officer Joseph Dwyer responded to the call since he was only a minute away from their home. “I got there in a minute,” Dwyer said. “I went upstairs and talked to the mother and father. The dad was holding the baby and asking for help.”

“The baby’s mother thought he had died. She kept saying ‘he’s gone,’” Dwyer said. “I took the baby, placed him on a bed and performed CPR as I had been trained. Another officer arrived and helped tilt his head. After a minute, he started breathing and coughing up formula. We were both amazed. You could see his heart beating through his onesie, so fast.”

“It was … almost like a guardian angel. God sent him to us that day,” Davis said. “I never thought the day would come when I did this job, and something like that would happen,” said Dwyer, who insists he’s no more of a hero than baby Amir. “My actions wouldn’t have worked if the child wasn’t fighting for his own life. He is just as much as a hero as I am.”

“We’re not all out here just to just trying to arrest people or trying to ruin people’s lives. We’re here to do a job,” Dwyer said.

Little Boy Asks Mom For A Haircut To Look Like His Best Friend

Every parent has their own unique style, but it’s hard to argue that the most important job they have when raising a child is to teach them the right morals and to be a good person.

These days, it can often feel like there is a generation of racists and bigots running the world, but if mom Lydia Stith Rosebush’s son is any indication of the future, it looks like the world will be alright.

A Facebook post Rosebush shared about the way her five-year-old son, Jax, sees his best friend has gone viral with over 100k positive reactions to the sweet story. Rosebush explained that she recently told her kindergartner he needed a haircut for his messy blond mane and was amazed by his response.

The little boy asked his mom if he could cut his hair exactly like his best pal, Reddy, because they wanted to trick their teacher. As you can see in the photo below, it is pretty unlikely the five-year-olds would have pulled a fast one on their teacher, but the mom knew she had to spread Jax’s positive message of inclusion and equality with the world.

“If this isn’t proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don’t know what is,” Rosebush wrote in the post, which now has more than 60,000 shares. “The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair.”

“It is just two innocent boys. Obviously, they see they are different colors, they just don’t care. It is not important,” Rosebush told TODAY Parents.

“I just taught him to love everyone the same,” she told TODAY, explaining that her son still doesn’t understand why the story has gained so much attention.  “He wanted to look like Reddy … now he thinks they look the same.”

Check out their touching story below and please SHARE with someone who needs a reason to smile!

Brave Teen Saves Bus Full Of Kids After Bus Driver Passed Out

School bus drivers have an incredibly important job since they’re tasked with safely delivering dozens of other people’s children to and from school and their homes.

And when one Alabama bus driver had a medical emergency while driving an after-school bus, 38 small children’s lives were put in danger. Luckily, however, one brave high school student was aboard the bus and didn’t hesitate to save the day when he noticed the bus start to veer off the road.

“I looked back at her [the driver] and she had her head rolled back, hands off the steering wheel, and I was like, yeah, I should do something,” said high school senior Jesse Frank. While the rest of the students started to panic, Frank made a plan and calmly executed it. “It didn’t seem that complicated in my head. I just planned out a few simple steps. I didn’t think it would be that hard to execute them,” said Frank, who used one hand to push down the brake and used his other hand to carefully guide the bus to the side of the road.

Frank then dialed 911 and waited until help arrived before removing his hand from the brake pedal.  “There were several elementary students crying. One of them asked to borrow my cell phone to make a phone call to their parents.”

“There was no surprise, you know, if there was anybody out there who could go out there and take an action, he would be the one at the front of the list,” said principal Tony Dowdy. “Jesse is a hero to all of those children and their families, and he is certainly a hero to us,” said mayor Bill Pruitt, who presented Frank with the key to the city for his bravery. “When asked for a comment, Jesse said that he didn’t think what he had done was really that big of a deal at the time. I don’t guess you would when helping others is just part of who you are.”

“It gives me an expectation to meet, in a good way,” Frank said. “Now that eyes are on me, in a manner of speaking, I feel like I’ve got to represent myself.”

Miracle Preemie Born At Just 23 Weeks Survives Risky Surgery

At 23 weeks, most babies are growing comfortably in the protection of their mother’s womb, but at 23 weeks, one miracle baby was defying the odds and fighting to survive in major abdominal surgery.

Just one week before the abortion cut-off date, UK mom Louise Peters welcomed her extremely premature baby girl, who weighed just 1.3 lbs, to the world. Baby Abiageal was so tiny she couldn’t open her eyes or make any noise, and Louise and her husband David were convinced their daughter wouldn’t make it.

“We agreed to the operation, despite the risks associated with it, as we knew she wouldn’t survive without it,” Louise said. “After she’d gone into theater, Dave and I sat in a room for what was probably the longest three hours of our lives, waiting for the surgical team to tell us the outcome.”

Miraculously, Abiageal survived the operation and became the youngest person to ever survive major abdominal surgery. “When the door opened and one of the surgeons came into the room, we just looked at his face without hearing the words and we knew – she was OK. He was smiling,” Louise said.

“Abiageal is a unique case and we only chose to operate because her chances of survival without surgery were so small,” pediatric surgeon Zahid Mukhtar said. “The fact she survived the operation, and is now doing so well, is fantastic news. We will continue to monitor her closely, but all the signs suggest we should be optimistic about her long-term prognosis.”

“She stayed in intensive care for a while and overcame many more hurdles, but she kept fighting and we are so pleased with how she is doing today,” said Louise. “‘Our baby girl was a fighter. She truly is our little miracle,” David said.

Utah parents Adrianne and Jason Stewert never thought they would adopt a child with special needs, but now they can’t imagine what their life and their family would be life without their three-year-old adopted daughter, who was born without arms or legs.

The couple has two kids of their own and thought their family was finally complete after adopting a son from the Philippines. But when an adoption agency sent the family a photo of a disabled child in an orphanage, they knew she was meant to be a part of their family.

“She had one of the most beautiful smiles and at the time we weren’t really planning on adopting a special needs child but we just fell in love with her,” Adrianne said about the then 6-month-old in the Chosen Children Village. “We just knew we needed her to be part of our family.”

“We didn’t have any idea what it would be like to raise a child like her,” said Adrianne, who knew it would be a challenge for everyone to adjust in the beginning, but a challenge that was well worth it.  “She is so full of light and joy. Even meeting her for the first time, you think she’d be scared and nervous to meet strangers, I mean, she’d seen a picture of us. But she did so well and she was so happy and smiling for us and it was really amazing.”

“She’s helped us to see that kids like her are really no different than any other kid. She’s doing all the same things as our other kids, just in a little bit different way,” the mom of four said. “She loves to color. She has a custom mouthpiece that we can stick markers in for her to color and she’ll spend hours and hours coloring.”

“She taught us to appreciate the little things and not be sad or disappointed by the things we’re lacking. She’s taught us not to take things for granted.”

Teenagers aren’t normally known for have a strong work ethic, which is why colleagues from an Alabama UPS center decided to ban together to do something special for their 19-year-old co-worker who stunned then with his dedication to the job.

Nineteen-year-old Derrick Taylor has been working since he was just 14 years old to help take care of his sick mother since she can’t work. And when he was offered a job at a UPS center across town about a year ago, he eagerly took the position even though it was more than five miles from his home and he didn’t have a car.

So for the past year, Derrick has been getting up early and walking the five miles to work to make it to his 4 a.m. shift on time and then walking the entire way back after an exhausting day loading and unloading vans. “There were days when I walked there and you know caught a ride home and there were days I caught a ride there and walked home because I didn’t wanna ask anyone to take me,” the young man said. “I didn’t want to bother people but it’s a good eight to ten miles.”

Derrick’s co-workers knew he was too proud to ask for help, and decided to pool together money and buy him a car. “This is a hardworking young man. He makes me emotional. This young man wants to work so bad, he walks to work from way out of town,” Derrick’s safety instructor said before revealing their incredible surprise. “This group here, we’ve got something for you. Everybody came together, and you don’t have to walk no more. You’ve got your own ride.”

“I was overwhelmed with joy,” Derrick said. “No one had ever done anything like that for me, so it made me cry and I’m not really the type to show my emotions.”
