Paramedic Dove Into Frigid Lake And Saved Dying 3-Month-Old

At 23 hours into a 24-hour shift, paramedic worker Todd Zobrist was understandably ready to head home to his wife and two sons.

When paramedic Todd Zobrist got a call that there was possibly someone inside a sinking car in a lake, he immediately rushed to the scene and was the first to arrive. At the point, the car was partially submerged and was about 50 to 75 feet from shore.

Since it was so freezing out, Zobrist knew there wouldn’t be much time to wait for help to arrive. Instead, he started stripping out of his warm clothes, jumped into the lake, and swam to the car. “I thought to myself, ‘This is a terrible decision, and I need just to turn around and go back to the dock because I’m going to get myself in a lot of trouble,’ ” said Zobrist. Yet he decided to continue on. “I was already wet, I was already cold.”

Zobrist peered into a window of the car and saw the driver, 32-year-old Christy Campbell, was already dead, but then spotted what appeared to be a doll floating in the water. “It looked like two feet and two hands,” he said. Zobrist grabbed the leg and discovered the doll was actually an unconscious 3-month-old baby. He then climbed on top of the car and began CPR on the baby and managed to revive him.

“I’m freezing. I’m absolutely in pain all over, muscles freezing up, not wanting to work,” said Zobrist, who didn’t want to get back in the water but had no choice to save the baby. “The baby was in severe danger. He needed to be warmed up immediately.”

Zobrist jumped back in and swam back to shore with the baby held in one hand above the water. The baby was then rushed to the hospital for treatment and was safely reunited with his siblings and relatives. “Whenever anybody in Highland today heard that a paramedic jumped into the water, they knew Todd was the one. He definitely saved the child’s life and put his own life at risk,” said Zobrist’s supervisor, Highland EMS Chief Brian Wilson.

“One little thing that went wrong may have been a totally different outcome,” said Zobrist. “I don’t know how much longer that baby could have been floating on top of that water before he no longer could have been revived.”

Mom Beat Cancer After Doctors Said She Had Days To Live

When one Georgia mom was pregnant with her first child, she discovered a hard, painful knot in the back of her head, and as the pregnancy went on, the pain only worsened.

“I actually discovered [the knot] right before I got pregnant,” said Ashley Hallford, now a mother of three. “But I wrote it off to be a lymph node because it didn’t really hurt.” At 32 weeks pregnant, she decided to get the lump checked out and doctors discovered the lump was cancer. “Pathologists from all over the country studied the lump,” Hallford said. “They all agreed that it was a rare and very aggressive, possibly hormonally fueled cancer. But nobody could diagnose it.”

A week later doctors induced labor early so that she could start treatment and the couple experienced their first miracle. “We were preparing for our son to spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit. But when he was born, he didn’t have to. He got to go home two days later. The NICU doctor came in to see us, and he said that never in his career had he seen a 33-week term baby not go to the NICU, even for evaluation. That was just a miracle.”

A couple days after giving birth, Hallford had surgery to remove the lump, but when results came back, they found out the cancer had already spread to her brain, lungs, and liver and was diagnosed with stage four cancer. “At that point, they stopped trying to figure out what it was, saying, ‘We need to start treating her, or she’s gonna die.’ ” she said. Hallford received the maximum amount of radiation in six weeks, but the tumors weren’t responding. “At my church, they started praying and fasting, for the whole month,” Hallford said. “I continued chemo through July 2008, and then had more scans to check progress. I was praying because if there was no change or things were worse,  I would be out of options.”

Then Hallford and her husband David experienced their second miracle. When Hallford went back in for scans, the cancer was gone. “They said, ‘The radiologist report shows no evidence of disease present.’ I was so dumbfounded by what she said that I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ She said, ‘It means you’re in remission.’ ”

“I never thought you would have made it,” said Dr. Debra Miller. “Theoretically, with stage 4 cancer, you’re not curable. I met Ashley when she was pregnant, when she had the neck mass. After her first round of treatment, more disease was found in her lungs, and she was retreated. After that, she’s been disease free … it’s nothing short of miraculous.”

It’s been nine years since Hallford’s been in remission, but because of the chemotherapy and radiation, doctors said it would be impossible for Hallford to have any more children. Yet, in the years since, the couple experienced yet another miracle when they naturally conceived and gave birth to two more healthy children, one of which was just born this January. “I credit my recovery to God, 100 percent,” she said.

Mom Discovering Wooden Splinters In 12-Week-Old’s Diapers

Parents only want what’s best for their babies, which is why one UK mom was happy to spend a little bit more money on high-quality, brand-name diapers.

Yet 31-year-old mom Charlotte Minors was left horrified when she discovered wood splinters in inside her 12-week-old’s Pampers diapers. “As I went to put it on, there was what looked like a piece of resin,” Minors said. “I was rushing in the morning so I put a different one on – but it was only when I looked later and prized the nappy open that I realized it was a piece of wood. It was a full-on splinter.”

“I felt sick. I was in disbelief. You pay a premium price for a quality nappy and all the scenarios of what could have been ran through my head. It could have been dark when I put it on and not noticed. She could have been screaming and I wouldn’t have known what the problem was and given her a pat on the back – it just doesn’t bear thinking about.”

Now Minors is vigilant about checking baby Violet’s diapers before putting them on, and is warning other parents to do the same. “The main question is why was it there in the first place. I just want to warn other parents to just check it. I don’t normally but it’s so lucky I had.”

When one expecting couple went in for a routine 12-week checkup, they were excited to hear how the pregnancy was progressing, but then they heard a few doctors talking quietly amongst themselves and they knew something was wrong.

“The people in the scan room were talking amongst themselves and my partner said ‘there’s something wrong isn’t there?’,” said expecting mom Jade Adams. “They said ‘we think it’s gastroschisis’ and I’d never heard of it.” Two days later, doctors confirmed that baby Darcie had gastroschisis, a condition where the abdominal wall doesn’t form properly and the intestines grow outside the body.

“When they told us that she gastroschisis I was absolutely devastated. It was awful,” Jade said. “But she came out and she was breathing completely all on her own. They wrapped her up in clingfilm – just like the stuff you have in the drawer at home – and it went all around her body from the front to the back and around again.”

“Ten minutes after she was born she was gone with Lewis to Great Ormond Street. I had to give consent for them to operate on the phone which was absolutely awful because I just wanted to be with her. They wrapped her intestines in the cling film again but by the time I got there she had had the operation. She made it through one hell of a fight, six operations and a total of 16 weeks in hospital. We are so proud of her,” said Jade, who is just relieved to have Darcie home. “She’s fine now – rolling around absolutely fine.”

Crocheted Octopus Saves Tiny Premature Twins’ Lives

Normally, babies need to spend about 37-40 weeks in their mother’s womb before they can safely be delivered.

Yet babies are often born well before 37 weeks, which can lead to an array of dangerous health issues. That’s why when mom Kat Smith gave birth to twins last November at just 28 weeks, she was stunned to see how tiny they were and how much their fragile bodies would have to overcome. “It’s a very scary time. You can’t comprehend just how small and fragile they are,” Smith said.

Thankfully, the staff at the Poole Hospital NICU worked around the clock to make sure Smith’s twins and the other preemies were well cared for. But when the team heard about research that showed crocheted octopuses could help preemies, they decided to try giving them to the babies since they could use all the help they could get.

According to the research, the tentacles of a crocheted octopus remind an infant of its mother’s umbilical cord and the soft round body reminds them of the womb. And because the babies felt safer, they had more regular heartbeats, better breathing, more oxygen in their blood, and were less likely to pull out wires and tubes.

“When we heard about the difference a cuddly octopus can make to our tiny babies we were impressed and, after research, eager to introduce them to our little patients,” Daniel Lockyer, a neonatal services matron. “It’s incredible that something so simple can comfort a baby and help them feel better.”

“One of the nurses brought in the octopus and explained about the idea,” Smith said. “The girls absolutely love them. When they are asleep they hold onto the tentacles tightly. Normally they would be in the womb and would play with the umbilical cord so the octopuses make them feel grounded and safe. They really are beautiful.”

“My miracle girls are now two weeks old and though they have a few conditions associated with premature birth, they are doing really well,” Smith said.

Dad Ran Up Burning Staircase To Save Son Trapped Upstairs

A parent would do anything to keep their child safe, and when one Australian dad was faced with losing his son in a dangerous house fire, he was prepared to do whatever he could to save his little boy.

This past week, a faulty air conditioning unit overheated or malfunctioned and sparked a fire in the family’s Melbourne home at around 3:30 in the morning while everyone was fast asleep. Tragically, the smoke alarm never went off, so by the time the mother woke up, the fire was out of control.

The mother quickly grabbed her two young daughters, but their son was still asleep upstairs. The 45-year-old father refused to leave his son to die and bravely ran up the house’s only staircase to the second floor, which was completely engulfed in flames.

The heroic dad managed to save his son but was left with severe burns to his feet and legs, and was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment when firefighters arrived. Metropolitan Fire Brigade officer Garry Day was stunned that the lucky family made it out alive. “Considering when we arrived there were flames coming through the roof,” he said.

Dog With Same Skin Condition Gives Little Boy The Confidence He’s Always Needed

An Arkansas boy with a rare skin condition has now found the best friend he has always needed.

Meet Rowdy, a Labrador Retriever who was born was born with all black fur. Three years ago, his owners began to notice he was developing white spots all over his body. “Around the age of 11, he started to get just a little white. I didn’t think anything of it, I just thought he was getting old,” Rowdy’s owner Niki Umbenhower told ABC 13 News

Credit: Sit! Stay Pet Photography

It turns out Rowdy has a rare skin disorder called Vitiligo, which is the same skin condition that 8-year-old Carter was diagnosed with. The boy and dog were living more than 2,000 miles away from one another, and Carter struggled on a daily basis with every new spot that appeared on his face.

“Carter was diagnosed and got Vitiligo the exact same month and year that Rowdy did,” Carter’s mom Stephanie Adcock told the news station. Carter and Rowdy wound up being introduced digitally, but Rowdy was teaching Carter to love his skin despite vitiligo.

Stephanie says Rowdy gave Carter the confidence that she always tried to give him. “Really, it was life changing for him. It changed his childhood for the better, it was a gift I couldn’t give him,” Stephanie said.

The long awaited moment came when Carter and Rowdy finally met, and it has changed Carter’s life. “I have goosebumps when I think about the moment they walked through the door. I’m getting emotional, it’s amazing,” Niki said.

Carter says he loves his four-legged friend but wishes that Rowdy had just a few more spots. “He needs some more on his back,” Carter said. “It couldn’t be any other person that made him feel better. It had to be Rowdy, it had to be a dog,” Stephanie said.

Sadly, KATU reported on Sunday that Rowdy suffered a seizure, and a GoFundMe reports that his health has been declining. If youve like to help this sweet dog with his medical treatment, please click here. Out of a goal of $10,000, over $7,000 has already been raised.

Lee Asher is just a regular guy living in Los Angeles, who absolutely loves to adopt rescue animals.

Asher told The Dodo that in college he used to pull dogs from shelters and help them find loving homes. Since then, he’s rescued 16 animals in total, but today he has seven dogs and two cats, some of whom are “foster fails.”

Asher began adopting dogs like it was his job- including Butters, who was abused by someone who tried to sell him out to a shelter, and Lillie, who was found sleeping in the mud behind a dumpsterAsher has met some of his dogs by hanging out at shelters and spending time with animals in need.

He mentions that some of his dogs he stumbled upon on the weirdest of days. He found Molly while his mom was getting her watch fixed at a jewelry store across the street from a shelter in Florida, and he found Haven when his ex-girlfriend was visiting her family in Texas. Some of his dogs even come from across the country, making for a diverse family.

So how does Asher manage to take care of all of these pets? He tells The Dodo that each one of his pets fits into his life perfectly, and they all get along. “I usually bring two to three dogs with me wherever I go,” Asher said. “Sometimes I feel like one will need alone time so I’ll just bring that one. I see a big difference in their behavior when they get to spend the day with me alone. They really love it.”

“I always knew that when I was older I would have a house filled with rescues, so seeing where I am now isn’t much of a surprise to me or anyone who knew me growing up,” Asher told The Dodo. The inspiration just comes from loving dogs and knowing that you are not only saving a life, but when rescuing a dog you are allowing the space for other rescues to possibly get adopted too. It’s a win-win and a beautiful feeling.”

Abused Dog With Half A Face Finds A Loving Forever Home

Teresa is a two-year-old mixed breed who was rescued in January from Thailand after a man tried to butcher her.

Thankfully, he failed. “Unfortunately in Thailand people do eat dog meat, and a person had a machete and he was trying to cut her head off,” said Karen Quigley, one of the women who rescued Teresa.

Credit: GoFundMe

The horrific attack left Teresa with half of a face- no nose and part of her top job missing. But, with help from two New Jersey women, over $11,000 was raised for Teresa via a GoFundMe account that has enabled Teresa to move to the United States and to receive the surgery she so desperately needed.

Credit: GoFundMe

The two incredible women who helped make this possible for Teresa are Karen Quigley and her friend Michelle Weirich. After bringing the mutilated animal to the United States, she received surgery to extract teeth and repair her tongue. “They are just like people. They need extra care, but they need a chance. They all need a chance,” Weirich told ABC 6 News.

You would think because of her injury, Teresa wouldn’t be able to live a normal life, but she does. “She can do everything and that’s what’s so remarkable about Teresa. She eats hard food, she eats wet food, really I haven’t found anything she can’t do. She’s so amazing because she’s really so happy. She wakes up happy, she loves to run in the yard,” Karen said.

Dr. John Lewis of Northstar Vets in Robbinsville who performed surgery on Teresa says that despite the cosmetic issues the dog must live with, she is doing very well. “She can always breathe through her mouth, but the fact she can breathe through her nose just increases her quality of life. She’s able to eat and drink, can play with toys, so that’s the important thing,” Lewis said.

Karen, who is a special-ed teacher at Rowan College in Gloucester County, says she’d like to get Teresa certified as a therapy dog to work with disfigured kids at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Until then, Teresa enjoys her pampered life and loves eating provolone cheese.

Bears Fed Only Beer For Years Transform After Being Rescued

Normally, bears have a widely varied diet consisting of things like vegetation, berries, and other animals, But for years, three bears were trapped inside a metal cage and fed only beer.

The three bears, called the ‘beer bears,’ spent years chained inside a dirty metal cage next to a restaurant in Albania and were given only beer and sometimes small bits of bread to survive. The horrible conditions and poor nutrition left bears Pashuk, Tomi, and Gjina starved and anxious.

But everything changed when rescuers from Four Paws freed them and brought them to the Prishtina Bear Sanctuary. After getting used to their new surroundings and their new diet, the bears began to relax for the first time in years and have completely transformed.

“The most amazing thing to see is how they run in the enclosure,” said Albana Hoti, the chief keeper at the sanctuary. “Since the first day, since they touched the grass, they were very happy, and you could see their faces smiling… Gjina was fed maybe 20 beers per day when she was in the cage next to the restaurant. She was eating some bread, but nothing more. Gjina would sometimes get stressed without any reason. And before, Gina was afraid just to touch the water in the pool.” However, now Gjina spends her days playing in the pool and running through the grass.

“They are real bears now,” Hoti said. “They’re not treated badly anymore. They look perfect now, compared to the time when they were in cages.”

Dog Survived Being Stabbed 19 Times And Left To Die

When police from the St. Louis County Police Department received a call about a mentally ill 18-year-old man causing problems at a church, they weren’t sure what to expect.

Yet when they arrived at the scene, the reality of the situation was far worse than anything they had imagined. Lying on the ground was a small 10-year-old poodle mix soaked in its own blood and barely alive after the young woman stabbed her more than 19 times.

Photo by Humane Society of MO

The police contacted the Humane Society of Missouri, who took the dog named Frannie into protective custody without question and had their veterinarian begin immediate treatment to replace lost blood and treat the 19 stab wounds around her neck, chest, and back.

Photo by Humane Society of MO

“This poor dog suffered an unfathomable trauma,” said Kathy Warnick, president of the Humane Society of Missouri. “Our first priority is for her to make a full recovery. Our expert staff will do everything we can to treat Frannie and give her the love and care she deserves.”

Photo by Humane Society of MO

At first, Frannie’s prognosis didn’t look good since she refused to eat and wouldn’t let anyone touch her, but within a few days she looked like a completely new dog. Just one week after being brutally attacked and left to die, Frannie was back on her feet, snuggling with her rescuers, and even running around playing fetch.

Last April, rescuers from the Delta Animal Shelter found a small dog who had cruelly been abused by her owner and left with two broken legs, broken ribs, and a stomach full of carpet.

The shelter’s team wasn’t sure she’d survive, yet she made a stunning recovery, found herself a loving forever home, and has now even become a rescuer herself after saving the life of a freezing, abandoned toddler this past Monday. “About 11 am this morning, Peanut started going crazy at our house,” Peanut’s new owner said about the morning their rescue dog became the rescuer.

“She was running up and down the stairs, barking and yelping. She then went and got my husband, who was in the garage working on some projects, and alerted him that she wanted to go outside. He said he could hear her running around upstairs but didn’t understand why,” the woman said.

“He let her outside where she went barreling into the field behind our house at full speed. My husband followed her and to his surprise, he found a naked, shivering, 3-year-old girl curled up in a ball. He scooped her up, wrapped her in his sweatshirt, and brought her inside. He called 911 and reported the incident.”

“By the time the ambulance and police arrived, the little girl could only say one thing – ‘doggie.’ Thanks to Peanut, a little girl’s life was saved today,” Peanut’s proud owner wrote. “The child is fine and is well and is in good hands as we speak,” said Deputy Steve Kositzky. “There was one other child that was located in the home and that child was removed as well and to my knowledge both those children are together in a foster care type home.”

“She has been such a blessing to us, and now to others,” the owner said. “Words cannot express how grateful we are that we have Peanut in our lives and how amazing she is. She is a part of our family now and thanks to wonderful people like you at the shelter, she is alive. Without her, not only would she have been gone from this world, but the life of this little girl might have been taken as well.”

Owning a pet is a commitment for life, yet when one Nevada family decided to move away, they just abandon their cat on the street and never looked back while he was left to fend for himself.

“His previous owners not only let him roam the neighborhood, but then left him behind when they moved away,” said rescuers from Nevada SPCA after a good samaritan brought the 13-year-old cat in to their shelter. “This docile boy, 13 years of age and 24 pounds in weight, was suffering from some of the most severe matting on a feline that we have seen in years.”

Photo by Nevada SPCA No-Kill Animal Shelter

The cat, named Buttercup, wasn’t starving but it was clear he needed help since he was covered in dirty, matted fur. “We cut him straight right away. He looked like he’d had these mats for years,” cat supervisor Debra Herrick said. “Buttercup knew his caretakers wanted to help him and he held still and let them shave away years of accumulated knots and giants matted folds.”

Photo by Nevada SPCA No-Kill Animal Shelter

“I think we were all in tears because that’s the worse case we’d ever seen,” staff member Lara Rodriguez said. Despite years of neglect living on the street, Buttercup was happy to be held and showed how much he appreciated their help. “Buttercup loves being held in gentle arms or cuddling up in cozy cat beds,” said the SPCA team who are now looking to find him a loving home. “He is great with other sweet cats. Please share his post to help him finally know and experience what a loving and responsible home feels like, at long, long last.”

Autistic Teen Gets A Service Dog After Years Of Being Denied

For years, one Canadian family has exhausted nearly every option in order to find a service dog for their 13-year-old daughter with autism but was left crushed with each denied application.

“I’ve applied for service dogs for her in Canada and the U.S. She was just always denied. She knew I was looking and she would always ask but my answer would be no,” said mom Sarah Mercer, who sent out applications for a service dog for her 13-year-old, Cadence, with autism.

Photo by Dave Mercer’s Facts of Fishing
Cadence is on the high-functioning end of the spectrum, so her applications would never get approved. “A lot of times dogs are given to non-verbal children and children who are flight risks,” Mercer said. Yet Cadence still struggles with anxiety and sensory issues that can cause meltdowns and they knew a service dog would make a huge difference so they continued to apply.
Photo by Dave Mercer’s Facts of Fishing
“It really hit her self-esteem and she felt like she wasn’t worth the effort. She is struggling in school and really low,” Mercer said. After four years of applying, Cadence was finally approved to recieve a dog, which cost the family $14,000. But when Cadence met her future service dog named Luna, it was all worth it. “It just made everything worthwhile, because she sees that it’s actually her dog and somebody believes that she really does struggle, and she is worth the effort to have that dog and go through all that,” said Mercer.

“It was 4 yrs in the making, countless applications across North America with rejection after rejection. But my wife never gave up hope because we just knew that this would make a life-changing difference for Cadance,” dad Dave wrote in a post after sharing the special moment Cadence met Luna for the first time.

Baby Born With 4 Legs And 2 Spines Survives Risky Surgery

No mother would normally let their 10-month-old baby go on a trip 9,000 miles the world, but for one Ivory Coast mother, it was the only way her baby girl would ever live a normal life.

10-month-old Dominique was born with four legs and two spines after her twin died in utero and was absorbed by Dominique’s body leaving the baby with an extra spine and two legs that protruded from her neck. Not only did it make physical movement hard, but it began putting a strain on the baby’s heart and lungs and it was clear the extra limbs were putting her in danger.

Ohio-based charity Children’s Medical Mission West reached out to the family, raised funds to fly Dominique to Illinois, and even found her a loving foster family to stay with. “If you can say love at first sight, I think that’s true for us,” said Nancy Swabb, who has been fostering baby Dominique since she arrived in February. “When we met sweet Dominique she came on three flights to get here. She came with an escort from American Airlines and we thought about her family far, far away trusting us, trusting the doctors they had never met, trusting the escort who flew her half way across the world.”

“She was so sweet and so ready to accept love and be affectionate and show affection,” Swabb said. “We knew that she was loved. We thought every day, every moment about her family waiting for her return, and we just feel really honored to be her family for a little while.”

And on March 8, Five surgeons and 50 clinicians performed a risky six-hour surgery to remove the extra limbs and finally give Dominique a chance at a normal life. “She wasn’t able to do some of the things that normal little kids do, like turn over and sit up and all those types of things. Now that we have removed her parasitic twin, she is a more normal girl,” pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Robert Givens Kellogg said.

“She has full mobility. She is doing what a 10-month-old can do. She’s moving her toes and fingers,” said Swabb, who is still caring for Dominique until she is well enough to make the journey back to her family where she can finally enjoy a normal childhood.

For the second time in two days, emergency responders in New York rescued another person who ignored the warning signs of frozen waterways in Central Park.

The civilian was later identified as a 16-year-old boy who was in the park alone near 59th Street on Monday. Witnesses said they saw the boy dancing on ice while taking a video, but moments later he panicked as the ice fell beneath him.

NYPD counterterrorism officers who were nearby were alerted to the boy in trouble and they immediately jumped into action. A witness took cell phone video of the rescue and provided it to the NYPD.

To get him out, NYPD Counterterrorism Chief James Waters said that officers Anthony DiSpigna and Eddie Radoncic helped formulate a plan to lash two ladders together to help the boy climb out. Luckily, the plan worked and the boy was pulled out of the water by his clothing.

He reportedly was turning blue from the freezing cold and was immediately taken to a hospital. “I’m very, very proud of these officers,” said Waters. “These are what NYPD officers do each and every day.”

Despite warning signs all over Central Park, others have reportedly fallen through thin ice as well, as many as three incidences in the past month. Last Sunday, two teenagers fell through after walking out onto ice but were luckily able to scramble out on their own.

As far as this 16-year-old boy, he is expected to be ok.

Hope For Paws rescuers Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte spotted a tiny poodle running towards the freeway.

They tried calling the dog to them hoping he wouldn’t run off the freeway, but their attempts didn’t work. The poodle ran through traffic and luckily had rescuers chasing him, so cars stopped for the dog.

Hagar asked Loreta to follow the dog while he ran back to get the car. A mile down the road, he caught up with Loreta, but the dog had suddenly disappeared. “I had a hunch that he had run to hide in the yard with the open gate,” Hagar wrote on YouTube.

Low and behold, that’s where the dog was- hiding under cars and they had to close the gate when he tried to run away again. Luckily, Loreta was standing by the gate and she had to grab the dog’s tail to stop him from escaping and running into oncoming traffic.

Finally, Hagar attached a leash around the dog, and it took him a few moments to realize they were there to help him. They named the dog Sailor, and Loreta apologized to him for grabbing his tail. Sailor calmed down after a little while, and it was time to head to the hospital.

His coat was so badly matted that the vet had to shave him completely. By the time he was finished, Sailor looked like a completely different dog, and Hope For Paws shared the great news: “After receiving medical care, Sailor had a foster home waiting for him.”

Vickie Sheffer Adkins Fulton took her tiny Yorkie to the pet store this month and filming the trip was the best thing she ever did.

Fulton’s dog named Lucy got to pick out her own toy at the store, and Fulton says Lucy has been known to pick very large stuffed animals. In the hilarious video, Lucy picks up a plush Lambchop toy about twice her size and carries it out of the store with incredible determination.

She carried that toy right out of the door the pet store while her mom filmed every moment. When Fulton posted the video to her Facebook page, she wasn’t expecting to receive such an overwhelming response.

Since posting, Lucy’s video has been viewed over 21 million times and generated more than 49,000 comments. Fulton wrote on her Facebook: “FYI ….. this is not the first shopping trip for Lucy, we don’t do this on a regular basis but occasionally! The more she has shopped the bigger the toy gets and the bigger the toy gets the higher the price! Lol  But her papa didn’t say a word about how much the one she picked out was …… YES …… she is spoiled but a good spoiled!”

She continued, “We want to thank EVERYONE that has viewed, liked, shared and/or commented about the video I posted about our little Yorkie named Lucy during her shopping trip for a new toy !! This occurred while on vacation in Daytona Beach, Florida. This has been amazing to us !! Our kids informed us that the video has gone viral ….. according to them that is a big deal.”

Fulton was truly shocked at how much attention Lucy’s video received since she is used to posting pictures and videos of Lucy to her Facebook all the time.

Fulton told Kansas.com, “It’s overwhelming to see that a video of a precious little dog can bring so many smiles and laughter for people,” says Fulton, who is retired from the Henderson County Schools in Kentucky. I am receiving so many nice comments from people all over the world. You name a country or state, and we’ve probably heard something from them. This has been so overwhelming for us.”

Scans Reveal Baby Born With No Brain Grew A New One

When expecting parents Shelly and Rob Wall were just three months pregnant, doctors discovered that their unborn baby had an array of health issues and they urged the parents to terminate the pregnancy.

The baby had spina bifida, rare chromosome abnormalities, and hydrocephalus, a condition where excess brain fluid puts pressure on the tissue and causes brain damage. Doctors didn’t believe the baby would survive birth, yet the couple refused to end the pregnancy.

On March 6, 2012, Shelly gave birth to baby Noah, who survived the birth but only had 2% of a brain. Yet as baby Noah grew, his brain miraculously started growing back. Now Noah is four years old, and when doctors recently took a scan of his brain they were amazed to see that 80% of his brain tissue has grown back.

“He has been chatting so much more and pronouncing his words,’ Shelly said. “He has started writing, he can follow my finger and write his name. His concentration was just unbelievable with the pen, I didn’t know that this day would ever come. You can see the excitement, and he knows that he had done something amazing… he amazes us every day.”

Noah still needs a wheelchair to get around and still has health issues to overcome, but his parents have no doubt he can do whatever he sets his mind to. “It just proves nothing is impossible, you can achieve whatever you want to in life you just have to be determined to do it.”

What would you have done if doctors told you your child had no brain? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

Cop Rescued 3-Year-Old After Her Dad Lit Her On Fire

Police officers dedicate their lives to protecting the innocent and helpless from harm and those who wish to inflict it, whether or not they’re on duty.

So when Australian police officer Stephanie Bochorsky, who wasn’t on duty at the time, heard a woman screaming from an apartment, she burst in to see what was going on. She followed the noise and quickly made her way to a child’s room and discovered a three-year-old little girl standing in her bed with her entire head engulfed in flames.

Bochosky grabbed a blanket and tried to put the fire out and then noticed the girl’s father, Edward Herbert, standing naked and pouring gasoline on his seven-year-old who was laying in bed. Bochosky gave her testimony in court this week and explained that when she ordered Herbert to stop and move away, he just stared blankly at her.

“He was just staring at me and her,” Bochosky said. “So my main concern was to get the flames extinguished.” The brave cop picked the toddler up and dragged the older girl outside and rushed them to her neighboring home. She rushed the toddler into the bathroom and poured water on her until an ambulance arrived.

The little girl was rushed to the hospital and treated for the severe burns that covered 13% of her body, but would have been much worse if Bochosky hadn’t intervened and rescued the children from their sick father, who claimed he did it because the little girl was ‘too beautiful.’

Can you imagine what would have happened if this brave officer didn’t rescue the helpless toddler? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.
