Pizza Delivery Guy Rescues Lost Dog While Delivering An Order

When one kind-hearted pizza delivery guy was on his way to deliver an order, he spotted a small dog dash out into a busy street, and he knew that someone would end up hitting him if he was left out there on his own.

Even though Steven Donovan, a Papa John’s delivery man, was in the middle of his shift, he couldn’t bear to leave the dog behind to get run over. “I was about to turn onto a major road and I saw him run across the street,” Donovan said. “I immediately turned around and went back. I couldn’t just leave the dog out there.”

Donovan managed to grab the dog who thankfully didn’t put up a fight, and got him safely in his car where he took a look at the name tag, which read ‘Mr. Snickers’ and found his address as well. “The dog was really chill,” Donovan said. “He didn’t try and eat the pizza at all.”

Mr. Snicker’s home was only a few miles away, but Donovan still had a pizza to deliver and decided to finish the delivery and then deliver the dog to his owners. “I told them, ‘I’m sorry your pizza is late; I just had to rescue this dog first,'” Donovan said about the understanding customers.

Even though it was far off his delivery route and could get him in trouble, Donovan didn’t think twice about what he was doing. “I wouldn’t mind getting fired over this. I mean, it’s a dog running in the street. I had to help him,” Donovan said.

“He perked up and noticed this was his neighborhood, and he was wagging his tail and getting all excited.” Yet when he got to the address he found out that Mr. Snicker’s owner had recently moved and hadn’t updated the dog’s tags, but was able to find a neighbor that knew the dog and his owner and promised to get him back to his family.

A high school student from Wisconsin is being hailed a hero after he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a classmate who was choking in the cafeteria.

When Will Olson began choking and motioning for help while eating lunch with his friends, Freshman, Ian Brown jumped into action. “We couldn’t tell if Will was choking or if he was just laughing and coughing at the same time,” Brown told ABC News. “Eventually what started to give it away was the redness in his face and then the hand motions to his neck.”

The incident was captured on surveillance video at Central High School and then posted on the School District of La Crosse’s Facebook page, where it garnered over 100,000 views. The video shows Brown getting up from his seat and performing the Heimlich maneuver on Olson four times before the food was dislodged from Olson’s throat.

“I feel thankful that I had Ian, a friend, there that had the training to do what he did,” said Olson.

Wilson was commended for his efforts by the entire community, including the La Crosse Police Department, who issued a statement applauding the lifesaving actions of Brown. Brown is a member of their police explorer program and it was there that he learned how to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

“I felt I was just doing what I was trained to do,” Brown said. “I’ve wanted to be a police officer and that’s what they trained me to do and that’s what they told me to do.”

It was Brown’s actions that helped saved Olson’s life. Michael Belott, a firefighter with the Cedar Knolls Fire Department told Good Morning America, “This student jumps right in and starts a quick intervention with those abdominal thrusts and the Heimlich maneuver procedure and definitely saves this kid’s life. We can all say he did an excellent job taking that initiative.”

A group of Iowa firefighters is making headlines due to the fact that they have welcomed six newborns into their family in the last seven months- three girls and three boys.

“We definitely got really good at throwing baby showers,” firefighter Adam Welp told WQAD. “Everyone kept announcing and it was like a new announcement every month,” said Adam’s wife, Katie Welp.

“We didn’t actually plan it; it might seem like we did,” said Whitney Eberhardt. “It’s been fun to go through it with everybody else,” said firefighter Tom Brockett. “And it’s definitely helpful that we’re all going through it together.”

Due to the sheer luck of having all of their babies at roughly the same time, the Mediapolis Fire Department decided to do a photoshoot with all the newborns and had them line up in their dads’ fire gear.

“It was surprising when we laid them all out that none of them were crying,” said Megan Brockett. The firefighters said they plan to make the group photo a yearly tradition, and Tom Brockett added, “We’re a family before this and we’ll be a family for a long time.”

The families have discussed what they would do the next time a fire erupts and they agreed that they would bring their kids to the fire station and whoever is available can come watch them.

A security officer at Los Angeles International Airport is being hailed a hero after he saved a man attempting suicide at one of the airport’s terminals.

According to Inside Edition, police said the 25-year-old man tried to throw his leg over a high pedestrian bridge railing with the intent of falling 60 feet to the ground. Thankfully, Officer John Solis was in the right place at the right time.

Credit: Los Angeles Airport police via dailynews.com

Airport surveillance captured Solis, 40, grabbing the man and pulling him from the railing and away from the edge. Then the man laid on the ground and refused to speak while Solis tried to console him, according to police. He then made a second attempt to jump over the railing before Solis wrestled him back to the ground.

“Suddenly the young man leaped to his feet, threw his leg over the railing again and tried to jump,” Airport police spokesman Rob Pedregon said. “Solis grabbed him, wrestling him to the ground as help arrived.” At the point, the man was transferred to a hospital so he wouldn’t commit any further harm to himself.

“Security Officer Solis, like our other employees, is constantly prepared for situations involving people who are distraught,” said Chief of Airport Police David Maggard. “I am proud of him, and all of my officers for their ability to balance compassion and respect as part of their response.”

We don’t have an update on the man, but we can only hope he is doing ok. We are thankful for Officer Solis’ quick thinking in a very time sensitive situation. Especially, one that involved life and death.

Deer Copies Woman’s Every Move In Incredible Video

In an amazing video posted to YouTube, a wild deer copies a woman’s every move at an environmental education facility in Long Island.

Holding a water pitcher, the woman stamps her feet indoors, and outside the deer looks in and ‘mirrors’ her. “This is amazing,” an off-camera voice says to the woman.

Credit: YouTube/Nora Cuff

According to many news sites, the deer’s behavior could be attributed to what is perceived as a safety concern. Outdoor News says that “Deer frequently stomp a front foot to alert other deer, or attempt to lure an intruder into exposing itself.”

Whitetails Unlimited says on its website that “Foot stamp is used when a deer is alarmed but cannot identify the object of its suspicion. While stamping, the deer will use its nose, ears, and eyes to try to identify the source of alarm.” “The stamp is telling other deer that potential is nearby,” Whitetails continued.

So, while many think this video was cute, and it certainly was, the deer may have been very scared and stomping was a warning. We are uncertain to what happened to the deer after this video, but it is likely that it went on its merry way and was just a little more cautious that day.

On March 14, everything changed for college student Brittany Diggs. She was held at gunpoint in front of her Alabama apartment after coming home from work and she told the kidnapper she was a college student with no money.

Being that Diggs couldn’t provide him what he needed, he forced her to drive him around in her car while he tried to rob other people. Eventually, she was forced into her own trunk and her life was threatened several times.

The kidnapper found Diggs wallet in the backseat of her car and threatened to kill her if she didn’t give him the pin number. Diggs told TODAY, “My biggest fear was he was going to drive this car into a river and I’m going to drown there and no one is going to know I’m in this trunk.”

Then, she came up with a plan. While the man was inside the gas station, Diggs remembered seeing a video on Facebook about trunk latches. She realized there was a latch inside the trunk of her car, and using her insulin pump light, she was able to see it in the darkness.

When the kidnapper got back in her car and started driving, Diggs pulled the latch and jumped out of the car onto the ground. She then ran into the gas station and hid in the back room until police arrived.

Diggs told TODAY that she decided to speak out to help catch the person who did this to her. After what happened, she will not be returning home to live in her apartment and while her car has been recovered, she does not want it anymore.

10-Year-Old Empties Piggy Bank So Parents Can Go On Date

Kids and teens are typically a little self-absorbed, which is why one Australian mom was left in tears by what her selfless daughter did one afternoon.

This past week, Sydney mom Marcela Ordonez had been talking with her husband about how she wanted to go out on a date night, but she didn’t realize that her 10-year-old daughter Chelsy-Lee Ordonez De Cross has been listening in on the conversation. Just minutes later, Chelsy-Lee came into the room and presented her parents with a box that read ‘Mum and Dad.’

To help her parents have a special date night, Chelsy-Lee emptied all of her saving, which amounted to $82, and wrote them an adorable card. “Dear Mum and Dad, here is some money for a date night,” she wrote in the letter. “It should cover a movie, dinner, and maybe extras. P.S. You could watch the scary movie for the trailer we just watched. Love Chelsy-Lee.”

“I poured it out on the couch and almost immediately started bawling,” Ordonez said. There are no words – I was just completely overwhelmed with her generosity and very proud that she can be so selfless. Chelsy-Lee is a gorgeous soul that acts in ways that are often beyond her years. We give her that autonomy because she’s a person and she can make these choices and understands there are repercussions.”

Deployed Soldier Surprises Mom At Nursing School Graduation

After countless hours of studying and hard work, 50-year-old Penny Pearson was thrilled to finally be graduating and fulfilling her life dream of becoming a registered nurse.

“I just kind of had to put it on the wayside to raise children,” Pearson said. “It’s been a goal of mine ever since I can remember. I love helping people.” And after her husband, Kurt, and their three kids all encouraged her to go back to school, she finally enrolled at Rasmussen College in July 2015 to get her associate’s degree in nursing while also working full-time at an assisted living facility.

And when it became too overwhelming, she would always lean on her son Sgt. Dustin Pearson for support, even after he was deployed last year. “It felt like a part of your soul is missing,” Pearson said after her son left. “I have test anxiety so bad and it was a calming effect for me to talk to him whether he was here or thousands of miles away. He always seemed to have the right thing to say to help me through it. I’d call him in tears. He’d say, ‘You got this, Mom. Just keep pushing through it.’”

As excited as Pearson was to complete her degree, she was devastated when she realized that her son and biggest supporter wouldn’t be there for the big moment. But what she didn’t know was Dustin secretly returned home two days before the graduation to surprise her during her big moment.

“She’s always been my best friend,” Dustin said. “She’s always been there for me. She helped me get through some hard times. I know that becoming an RN meant a ton to her, so I really wanted to surprise her. I was like if I can make it just a little bit more memorable, we’re going to do that.”

And on March 15, not only did Dustin attend the ceremony, but he surprised his mom by appearing on stage and presented her with her nursing pin. “She’s accomplished a lifelong goal she had to put on hold to start a family,” Dustin said. “Not that many people get to do that. I’m nothing but proud of her.”

“I was over the moon,” Pearson said. “I was just like, Oh my God. My boy is here. Besides my wedding and having my children, I think this ranks right up there as one of the top events in my life.”

When one Florida student was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend and left fighting for her life, she never imagined that the worst day of her life would lead to the best.

In 2012, Melissa Dohme was violently stabbed 32 times by her ex-boyfriend and would have died if not for the determined first responder named Cameron Hill who carried her bloody body to a helicopter and rushed her to the hospital. “I didn’t even want to open my heart up to anything,” Dohme said. “I was afraid, but then I met Cameron.”

10 months after the attack, Dhome and Hill were reunited at a lunch in her honor and quickly became inseparable. “Cameron was so great, he would always just be there for me I think in every way, even if I was really upset or had a really rough day,” Dhome said. “He’s my best friend, we’ve been such a team through [my healing].”

Despite everything she’d been through, Dhome realized there was something more than just friendship between her and Hill. “I just really couldn’t ignore how the crazy feeling inside that this is who I’m supposed to be with,” said Dhome. “Her strength was unbelievable,” said Hill. “That was the first thing I fell in love with.”

After four years of dating, the couple got married on March 4 in front of friends and family, as well as six of the firefighters, EMT, and doctors that helped save Dhome’s life.  “It was a full circle moment. I spent the worst and the best day of my life with Cameron,” said Dohme. “It was beautiful,” Hill said. “I married the girl of my dreams.”

Fireman Rescues 3-Year-Old Stuck Inside Toy Claw Machine

Mischievous toddlers need constant supervision and one Irish dad learned that lesson the hard way when he turned his back on his three-year-old son Jamie for just a second and found him trapped in an arcade game.

“We were all having a snack together at a table in the play center and Jamie just got up, as he always does, and made his way over to the amusements,” said dad Damien Murphy, who had brought his five and three-year-old sons to a Jumps ‘n’ Gyms play center one afternoon.

“Within about 10 seconds of him just leaving my sight to the left, I heard a muffled complaint. I looked up and he was behind the glass of the machine.”

“He was calling to me because he realized he had got himself in a spot of bother,” Murphy said. “When I got up from the table, I just said out loud, ‘Of course, you’re in there.’ I then tried to maneuver him out but to no avail. It was then I informed the staff of what happened and they went looking for the key to the machine. They told me they have never seen any child do this.”

“Luckily there was an off duty Fireman there who told me a good 90% of his job is getting kids out of situations like this. He told Jamie to crouch down and move back into the machine and then he was able to shimmy him out,” Murphy said about his son, who managed to take two toy dragons from the machine.

“He’s kind of a walking Murphy’s law. Whatever can go wrong will go wrong with Jamie — just because he’s so inquisitive and such a little boundary pusher,” Murphy said.

When one Indian mother heard her three-year-old son scream out in pain, she was prepared to do anything to save him even if it meant giving up her own life.

This past week, 23-year-old mother Pramila Rinjad, who lives with her son in a remote area that borders the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, stepped out of her home at around 9 p.m. to go to the bathroom and left her son safely inside. However, as she walked outside, her curious toddler followed her out.

Because of how close the village is to the forests of the national park, encounters with wild animals aren’t uncommon. And when the 3-year-old named Pranay wandered outside, he ended up being attacked by a leopard hiding in the brush. Pramila heard her baby’s cries immediately and when she ran out and saw what was happening, she didn’t hesitate to do whatever she could to save him from being killed.

“I pounced on him and screamed out loud,” the brave mother said. Thankfully, Pramila managed to surprise the wild animal enough that it dropped Pranay and ran back into the forest. Neighbors quickly ran out when they heard the screams and then helped rush the little boy to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and then sent home.

After nine long months of planning, one expecting Australian mom knew exactly what she would do and where she would go when she finally went into labor.

However, during those months of planning, she never imagined her water would break in the middle of a dangerous hurricane, so when she did go into labor, her entire birth plan went out the window. Because of the flooding and dangerous road conditions, she couldn’t make it to the hospital. Instead, she was forced to call paramedics and wait to see if they’d make it in time.

But in the midst of all the destruction and 155 mph winds, the paramedics from the Cannonvale ambulance station in Queensland, Australia had received thousands of calls and were unable to respond to many of them because it was impossible to get to certain locations.

Thankfully, the paramedics were able to reach the mother and rushed her back to their ambulance station, where paramedic Pam safely delivered the miracle little girl, who the couple decided to name Billiana. “You know, out of all of this, to see a little miracle, I think brings a smile to a lot of faces,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

When staff members at Animal Rescue Team rescued a coyote, she was in dire shape.

The coyote survived a 30-foot drop into a dried out riverbed, was exposed to poison, dehydrated and also suffered a gunshot to the head. As told by the rescue on Facebook, a bullet fired by an unknown assailant penetrated the coyote’s frontal lobe, instantly making her blind.

Credit: Animal Rescue Team, INC./Facebook

That’s when she lost her footing and the rescue believes she tumbled in the the Santa-Ynez watershed. Sadly, her ordeal didn’t end there and the coyote may have injected rat poison and then suffered dehydration. Once the rescue was alerted to the coyote’s unimaginable bad luck, they wrote “[Her condition] was so bad she stopped breathing. We did CPR until we got her to the vet.”

Since then, the coyote has been recovering at the rescue facility in California’s Santa Ynez Valley, and last week, she gave them one last surprise they were not expecting. When staff went to clean the coyote, they noticed she was pregnant!

Credit: Animal Rescue Team, INC./Facebook

Going on to deliver a healthy litter of baby coyotes, the rescue said, “Although she remains blind, she is the best mother we have ever witnessed.” Once she gains her strength back, the rescue plans to donate her to a wildlife sanctuary, as she will not be able to survive in the wild with her blindness. “We believe she deserves to remain alive,” the group says.

As far as her babies, they are staying with their mom until they are old enough to be returned to a safe site in the wild.

A firefighter was hospitalized after crews rescued an 82-year-old man from a burning apartment building in Massachusetts.

According to Brockton Fire Deputy Chief Charles Davis, a passerby saw the fire and reported it. The Brockton Fire Department arrived on the scene at 685 Oak Street, and they attached a ground ladder to the third floor at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday. “The fire was blowing out on the second-floor porch and some of the bystanders said there was somebody up there,” recalled Brockton firefighter Ben Denny according to necn.com.

An elderly man was stuck inside and his family later identified him as Paul Mulloy. Mulloy appeared to conscious and alert when firefighters got to him but he was experiencing mobility issues.

“It was just an incredible rescue,” Mayor Bill Carpenter said. “They got up there really quickly and got him out. There’s no doubt in my mind that they saved his life.” According to Mulloy’s daughter-in-law, Mulloy has burns on 35% of his body and he is being treated for them.

Lieutenant Christopher O’Reilly and firefighter Zachery Davis suffered second-degree burns and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Other firefighters on the scene suffered lesser burn injuries and they were treated at the scene.

Most of the 12 units in the apartment complex suffered serious damage and at least 30 people were displaced due to the fire. The cause of the fire seems to be accidental as it started in the area of electrical appliances in the kitchen.

Grandpa Secretly Raises Stray Kittens After His Wife Said No

Raising a newborn is a ton of work no matter if it’s a human baby or a kitten. That is why one grandmother from Puerto Rico told her husband he couldn’t keep a pregnant stray cat in their home.

“My grandpa felt for the stray cats and would leave food in the back of the house near his tool shed, a spot where my grandma doesn’t go,” his granddaughter, Syl, said about the stray cats that live in the neighborhood that her grandfather liked to care for.

One of the cats that 85-year-old Jimmy left food out for started to hang around more often and he knew he had to do more to help when he realized she was pregnant. “This particular cat was especially friendly and got attached to my grandpa,” Syl said.

Jimmy explained the situation to his wife, but she still wouldn’t let him bring the street cat and her future kittens into their home so Jimmy decided to raise them in secret and give them a nice home in his shed. However, Jimmy wasn’t able to keep his secret for long.

Three weeks after the birth, Jimmy’s wife found out about his secret cat family and while she wasn’t happy about the surprise, she decided to let them stay temporarily. “My grandpa is really kind and has always loved animals,” Syl said. “So it’s not really that surprising. She’s okay with them staying there until they’re old enough to have new homes.”

Railroad Worker Saves Trapped Duckings From Train Tracks

A mother would never intentionally lead her babies into danger, however, while leading her new family across a train track in New Zealand, one mother duck nearly got her family killed when she misjudged how small her babies really were.

While the mother could easily step over the metal rails, her babies were unfortunately too small to jump over and were left stranded in between the tracks. Thankfully, railroad workers James Fox and Ryan Milligan spotted the trapped babies and quickly came to their rescue before it was too late.

“At scheduled times throughout the day we had to pack up our gear, hop into the rail truck and get to the nearby crossing to leave the track to let trains pass,” Fox explained. “On one of these we occasions we came across the ducklings from inside the rail truck. The ducklings were too little jump out from between the rails. It seems that mother had led them into a bit of a trap.”

“The ducklings would have had maybe five minutes until the train was due to cross,” Fox said. “We had to round them up a bit since they were intent on running away from us, but it only took just a couple of minutes.”

Within a few minutes, the two men had gathered the six ducklings and helped them up over the rail with enough time to take a few photos of the adorable rescue. “We could only hear her on the nearby farmland, quacking nervously,” Fox said. “We are confident the ducklings were reunited with her when they ran off.”

Sweet Rescue Kitten Nurses Animal Patients Under Anesthesia

Cats aren’t typically known for being gentle and nurturing towards other animals, which is why the staff at one Colorado veterinary hospital was so stunned by what they caught a rescued stray kitten doing to their patients.

An orange tabby cat named Ron arrived at Northfield Veterinary Hospital when he was just three months old after being rescued with a few other kittens from a feral cat colony. Yet soon after arriving at the animal hospital, the staff quickly realized he wasn’t a typical cat.

“We have taken on many stray kitties throughout the years and he is definitely an exceptional cat,” said Jen Weston, manager of the animal hospital. Ron quickly got to know the other animals at the hospital and was caught one day cuddling another patient while they underwent a non-sterile procedure.

The staff saw how good Ron was at comforting anxious dogs and cats before, during, and after treatments and he became the hospital’s feline nurse.   “We once had a very aggressive kitty come into our hospital, and the owner warned us he had been very difficult, according to his previous vet,” Weston said.

They tried to keep Ron away for his own safety, but he escaped and amazingly befriended the cat. “They became friends,” she said. “Kitty was fine and easily managed after that.”

While Ron clearly loves being a nurse, he is finally getting to retire thanks to a loving family that gave him his first forever home.

According to the two women, the 1-year-old had been passed along by various owners and left in a cage on a concrete patio and left with a rubber band around her snout to keep her from barking. “She smelled like rotten meat so I knew we had a lot of dead tissue right there on the face somewhere,” said Dr. Lisa Matthews.

“I don’t know who put this around her snout, but somebody did, and they hurt her,” Dr. Matthews said. The team quickly got to work removing the band from Pixie’s snout and making her comfortable. “Every day she is doing a little bit better,” Paws 2 Help wrote in an update to Facebook. “We got a wagging tail this morning. And she came right up and laid on my lap, just happy to have people to take care of her and to be feeling better.”

“She is still fighting off an infection, and still has open wounds all the way around her muzzle, but she is able to eat baby food, and is drinking water. Little by little, Every day, she is getting a little better,” the center said about Pixie, who has since been transferred to Animal Care and Control so the state attorney can investigate her case. “We are determined to see justice is done here.”

Neglected Pony’s Hooves Grew So Long He Couldn’t Walk

Typically, horses’ hooves are supposed to be trimmed every three to four weeks, but one poor Shetland pony went ten agonizing years without getting his feet trimmed.

Over the years, the pony’s hooves grew so long that they curled around themselves and made it impossible to walk. And while the animal was clearly suffering, his cruel owner did nothing but lock him and another horse up in a hidden shelter.

Recently, however, the owner decided to surrender the two animals, and rescuers from the local sanctuary Animaux en Péril rushed to the property and found the starving animals in the shelter filled with two feet of manure.

“It is impossible to imagine the distress of the last few years, the omnipresent suffering, the hunger that gnaws and disintegrates, the torture of itching, the confinement in the impenetrable air,” the sanctuary wrote about the animals they named Poly and Everest. “Under torture time is infinite.”

While the starvation and neglect were bad enough, the rescuers were devastated by the sight of Poly’s overgrown hooves, which made it impossible for him to walk. “In 24 years of existence, our refuge has never hosted an equine with hooves so long,” the sanctuary said. They immediately trimmed the hooves before bathing, shaving, and feeding the two animals.

It’s still too soon to see if the years of neglect will have any lasting effects, but Poly and Everest are already doing much better after finally getting the care they desperately needed. “Poly and Everest are better already!” the sanctuary said. “[Poly] already feels much lighter … just as his companion in misfortune [does].”

The man, named Akbar went missing on Monday night when friends realized he hadn’t returned home from working on his palm oil crops the previous day.

Junaedi, the secretary of Salubiro village in West Sulawesi province told the Associated Press that the search party found scattered palm oil fruit, a tool, and a boot and that’s when they spotted the python

The 23-foot reticulated python grabbed Akbar with sharp curved teeth and squeezed him to death before swallowing him whole.

“When its stomach was cut, we first saw his boot and legs near the neck,” Junaedi said. “It seems he was attacked from behind because we found a wound on his back.” While humans being killed by pythons is extremely rare, it still happens, as in the case with Akbar.
