Mini Cow Saved From Auction House Falls In Love With A Dog

When a miniature cow named Moonpie was sold at a livestock auction house, she had no idea her life would change forever.

Luckily for Moonpie, she was not bought for slaughter, and Janice Wolf, the founder of Rocky Ridge Refuge, brought a friend with her to the auction with the purpose of rescuing an animal.

Immediately, Moonpie caught Wolf’s eye, and Wolf told The Dodo, “She was a mini, and you don’t see a lot of those go through the local auctions.” According to The Dodo, Moonpie was a young, milk-dependant baby, so Wolf knew she couldn’t keep her outside with other rescue cows

“I don’t have a lot of room here, and it was cold and rainy, and that wasn’t good for a little calf,” Wolf explained. “All my heated buildings were occupied with other critters, so that’s how she ended up in my bedroom. I figured it would just be for a few days, but the weather just kept going whacky, so she’s been in there for the last six weeks.”

While she was inside, Moonpie spent time with 12 dogs who also lived in the house. All of the dogs took a liking to Moonpie, but it was a deaf white bull terrier named Spackle who really grew fond of Moonpie.

“The picture with the white bull terrier–that was Moonpie’s first day here,” Wolf said. “Spackle loves babies, and immediately became her protector and buddy. She wouldn’t leave that calf’s side. They instantly bonded.”

The dogs have become like surrogate moms for Moonpie and they enjoy cleaning her face the way her mother would have. Moonpie even learned how to use the bathroom and she will hold it until she can go outside like the dogs do. “She does what the dogs show her, so she learned how to do that,” Wolf said.

“At first she wasn’t sure what to think, and then she just like, ‘OK, a bigger dog,’” Wolf said. “But they started hanging together, too. She now knows she’s a cow, I think.”

We’re so happy Moonpie was saved from potential slaughter and now she’s living an incredible life!

Shy Three-Year-Old Gives A Random Cop A Bear Hug

Any parent with a shy child knows how difficult it can be for them to talk to an adult, even their own aunts and uncles, which is why one mom was stunned when her painfully shy three-year-old asked if he could hug a complete stranger.

While eating a meal with his mom at McDonald’s, three-year-old Tyler Hubbard spotted a police officer parking his motorcycle outside and told his mom, Jamie Hubbard, he wanted a ride. When Fort Worth Police Officer Anthony Colter walked in to wait out a rain storm, Jamie told him what her son had said.

“I don’t think my boss would appreciate me taking you out,” Colter told the child. Even though he couldn’t take him on a motorcycle ride, Tyler was still awe-struck by the officer and a few minutes later, got up from his seat and timidly walked over to Colter’s table. “He wants to give you a hug,” Jamie told the officer as she filmed the sweet moment.

Photo by Fort Worth Police Department

Seconds later, Tyler summoned enough courage and threw his arms around the officer’s neck and gave him a big bear hug before walking back to his mom. “It meant the world,” Colter said. “I was humbled and honored because we see a lot of bad stuff. But to see him so sincere, such a kind, thoughtful gesture — it made a wonderful day.”

“It was sweet,” Jamie said. “It was so fast, but it was so big for him because he’s a shy little kid.”

Watch the entire video below to see the precious moment this shy little boy summoned enough courage to give a police officer a hug.

Can you believe how much this kind gesture meant to the police officer? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

7-Year-Old Gave His Wii To Police Officers After Cop Died

When one Wisconsin 7-year-old found out that Wausau Police Department Detective Jason Weiland had been tragically shot and killed, he was heartbroken but knew the cop’s police family would be hurting more.

“He just has a really big heart,” mom Jessica Duke said of her son Brady. “When we told him about the shootings, he felt like his heart broke about it,” his mom explained. “He knew in his heart he needed to do something.”

Brady decided that the best way he could help lift their spirits was by giving them something that made him happy, so he gathered up his Nintendo Wii and all his favorite games and sent it to the police department with a handwritten note. “Dear Officer, Thank you for serving our community. You keep my family and I safe. I am so sorry that one of your police brothers died. How can I help?”

“We have experienced great acts of compassion, love, and generosity from this community, but we had to share this story with our community. Brady’s example is one we can all follow. Thank you, Brady, for your love and compassion and thank you for setting the example for others in our community at the young age of 7,” the Police Department shared on their Facebook. “They had a police brother that died and I wanted to make them happy,” Brady explained.

To thank Brady for his incredible gift, the department invited him to the headquarters to play video games with everyone and even presented him with a brand new Xbox. “They had a blast — it was so much fun,” Duke said. “It was so impactful for Brady just to know they would take time out of their day for him. He didn’t know what an Xbox 360 was, so this is a whole entire new ball game for him.”

Watch the entire video below to see how these officers reacted to such a sweet gesture.

86-Year-Old Donates 400K Earned By Recycling To Local Charity

For the past 30 years, one 86-year-old Georgia man has spent much of his free time recycling trash and donating the $400,000 he’s earned from it to a local charity.

At first, Johnny Jennings started recycling as a way to bond with his son Brent, but over the years the hobby has become a lifelong devotion. “We used to use it as time together,” Brent explained. “We’d walk roads and pick up cans and sell it and take the money and put it in a savings account. When I bought my first house, I had enough from recycling to make my first down payment on my home.”

Rather than save his recycling earning, Johnny decided to donate it to a local charity. “He went with a member of his church and when they got ready to leave, three little boys grabbed his legs and asked him if he would be their daddy,” Brent said. “He said right there, ‘I’m going to do what I can as long as I can for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes.'”

Since that moment decades ago, Johnny has given every cent he’s earned from recycling to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, which provides care for troubled kids and families. Every year, Johnny donates a check to the charity ranging from $10,000 to $15,000 at the annual board meeting. And over the years, he’s donated about $400,000. “They’ve been a mom and dad to thousands of children through the children’s home,” said Brent. “My dad doesn’t see the $400,000. He sees the faces of those kids.”

Over the past 32 years, Johnny has recycled 9,810,063 lbs of paper, collected $20,275.20 worth of pennies, and saved 79,000 trees. “Mr. Jennings normally loads his truck by himself and that is a job in it’s self and did I mention he is 86 years old and had 2 mini strokes two weeks ago and when he got home from the hospital he didn’t let that stop him from getting back to his paper route? That is just how he is and he will not stop,” Shay Drennan-Love said. “If he just quits he won’t last long. It’s just what he does,” Brent said.

Can you believe how much money this man has donated from decades of recycling? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

It’s not unusual for a firefighter to save someone’s life, but two Chinese firemen are being hailed heroes for the heart-stopping way they saved the lives of a mother and her daughter.

This past weekend, firefighters rushed to an apartment building in Jiaxing City after a unit caught on fire. The building was immediately evacuated, yet a mother and daughter from the sixth-floor unit that was on fire were trapped inside.

Firefighters rushed to the unit below and tried to help the two women down to safety, but while climbing out of the window, the women lost their grip. “The situation at that time was urgent, and the impact of her fall was quite huge. But I just attempted to catch her, and pulled her into the building with the help of my partners,” said firefighter Jiang Tiancai.

Thankfully, the firefighter caught her in time and pulled her to safety, but just moments later, her daughter lost her grip and started plummeting to the ground. “The girl stood there for a very long time, and couldn’t hold on anymore. So I asked the policeman behind me to grab me. After the hook was linked to her, I tightly held her leg. As she was falling down, I pulled her into the building,” said firefighter Wei Tingbiao.

Rescuer Crawls Into 18-Foot Deep Cave And Saves 9 Puppies

Animal rescuers are used to getting a bit dirty in order to rescue stray and abandoned animals, but one California rescuer went above and beyond to save an abandoned litter of puppies deep inside a cave.

This past week, a group of rescuers from the Hope For Paws animal rescue organization were at a funeral for their colleague Lisa M. Ashe when they received a call about a group of stray puppies. To honor their beloved friend and her love of animals, they immediately went to the site and were determined to save them.

Yet when they arrived, the group realized the rescue was going to be more difficult than they imagined. The feral puppies had never had contact with humans before and while they originally crawled out of the cave that was their home when the rescuers offered them bits of hamburger, they were terrified and rushed as far back as possible when the group grabbed one of their siblings.

“My god, this is going to be tricky,” rescuer Eldad Hagar said.  Yet Hagar refused to give up and crawled into the small cave after carefully digging into the ground so he could fit inside. Once he was able to locate the puppies 18 feet into the cave, he carefully pulled them out one at a time.

The team worked tirelessly all day, and by nighttime, the group had rescued all nine puppies and brought them straight to an animal hospital, where they were examined and introduced to their new surrogate mom.

As a woman was nearing the end of the Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon on Sunday, her legs started to buckle.

Not only is this a runner’s worst fear, but if other runners didn’t see her, she could have easily been trampled. Luckily, a male participant in a green shirt running on the woman’s right side stops and grabs her arm while another male runner on her left stops and grabs her left arm.

The woman and the two men appear to be strangers, although they literally lifted her up on each side and continued to job together toward the finish line, sacrificing their own time in completing the race.

As tons of runners passed them by, the woman became more and more unstable, until she couldn’t even stand on her own two feet.

At that point, they were just a few steps from the finish line, and a third runner saw the woman was going to collapse so he runs towards her and lifts her up. He put her down just inches from the finish line so she could complete the race on her own two feet.

The clock just above the finish lines shows that all four runners completely the race in a little over two hours. According to ABC News, race officials have identified the female runner but have not released her name.

A Franklin, Virginia man may not be alive if it wasn’t for the help of a persistent little boy.

On Thursday, March 23, Karter Thorpe was driving through the Lowe’s parking lot with his grandmother ‘Mimi’ when he noticed a man lying on the ground. ‘Mimi’ known as Carolyn Cook says her grandson told her to turn around because there was a man on the ground that needed help.

Cook didn’t see the man herself, so she thought Karter was exaggerating. “I said that a few times and then she turned around to show me I was wrong,” said Thorpe.

But Karter turned out to be right. Cook told News 3 there was a man lying next to his truck. “He was gasping for air,” she recalls. Cook called 911 and while they were waiting, a mystery woman came to help perform CPR until rescue crews arrived and took the man to the hospital.

One week after the incident, Cook got into contact with the man’s family through Facebook, and they informed her he had a heart attack and would have died without Karter noticing him. “I still get weepy. I`m just thankful. Thankful that God put me in that parking lot when he did,” said Cook. “[Karter] would not take no for answer, he was determined and I’m glad he was.”

The man’s family is calling Karter their “Little Angel,” and the two families plan to meet in the upcoming weeks when the man gains his strength back.

Rescuers Save 11 Elephants Trapped In A Giant Mud Pit

While people prefer to take baths with water, elephants prefer to bathe in mud, since it helps keep them cool, protects them from getting a sunburn, and helps prevent insect bites.

So when a herd of 11 Asian elephants in Cambodia spotted a massive crater, which was left from a U.S. bomb from the Vietnam War, filled with mud, the entire herd climbed in. Yet shortly after wading into the mud, the herd realized there was no way out and they were tragically stuck in the sticky mud.

Luckily, local farmers spotted the elephants in the crater before it was too late, and they notified the local Department of Environment. Soon after, rescuers from Elephant Livelihood Initiative Environment (ELIE) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) arrived and gave them food as they figured out a plan to rescue the herd.

“They were so hungry, they munched it down and it gave them some energy,” said ELIE program manager Jemma Bullock. Rescuers also sprayed hose water to cool them down and loosen the quickly thickening mud.

Meanwhile, other rescuers were digging ramps into the side of the pit so the elephants could crawl out on their own. Soon after, ten of the elephants managed to climb out, however, the smallest baby was too little to climb out and was left trapped.

With a little help from some ropes, the team was able to help pull the baby out and cheered as she ran back to her herd. “If the community had not got together with the WCS, ELIE and the Department of Environment to rescue these 11 Asian elephants, this would have been a tragedy,” said Tan Setha, WCS technical advisor to the area. “This herd consisted of three adult females and eight juveniles of various ages, including a male that had almost reached maturity. These elephants represent an important part of the breeding population in Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, and their loss would have been a major blow for conservation.”

Boy Is Reunited With Beloved Dog After A Year Apart

For the past year, one Nashville, Tennessee boy named Lennox has prayed every single night for his four-legged best friend Bogart to return home.

“A year ago our neighbor had to take her dog to live in another state while she traveled and my son stood in her yard and cried as they drove away. We didn’t think the dog would be gone for so long but my son has prayed for his beloved canine friend every single night since he left,” said mom Ellen Tift Goebel.

And as the months passed, Goebel could tell how much her son missed Bogart and how sad he was. “I have known the emotional drama that he had felt while Bogart was away,” she said. “It was so sad when Bogart’s owner told us she was going on tour, so she had to fly him to California to stay with her mom. She had said he would be gone until last July, and he left last April, so we thought he’d only be gone a couple months and my son was already crying. The day they were going to fly we went over there super early so he could play with the dog before they got on the plane.”

So when Goebel found out that her neighbor and Bogart were home, she brought him over to their house and surprised her son with the amazing news “I had no idea. I just immediately thought, ‘I need to pet him,’” Lennox said about the emotional moment. “It felt like Spring break all over again.”

Dog Lost For Four Years Shows Up On Owner’s Doorstep

Four years ago, one North Carolina couple looked tirelessly for their beloved dog Molly after she disappeared from their home one day.

As months passed by with no trace of her, Joel McDonald and his wife Carolyn were forced to accept that Molly was gone. However, four years after going missing, Molly suddenly showed up at their doorstep. “I didn’t know for sure but I thought it. And she just came and put her head in my lap and said ‘oh my,’” said McDonald, who couldn’t believe Molly had really returned.

“I wasn’t expecting that. I’d already said she was gone,” McDonald said. As much as they wanted to believe the dog was their Molly, they had to be sure so they immediately brought her to the vet to see if she had a microchip that would confirm if Molly had really come back.

“We didn’t ask him his name or anything I looked down and I said ‘We got a number!’ I looked it up in the computer and I said what’s your name? And I said that’s your Molly,” said Terry, a staff member of the animal hospital. “She’s back now!” Carolyn said after hearing the good news.

A New York man owes his life to a good Samaritan who risked his own life to save him.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan Kulig was on his way to work on Saturday night when he got off the L train at 3rd Avenue and noticed something disturbing out of the corner of his eye. Apparently, a man had fallen onto the subway tracks! “I realized it was a person and I hear the announcement come on, that the train is going to be arriving in a minute or 2 minutes, short amount of time,” Kulig told PIX 11 News

Kulig was on the opposite side of the Third Avenue L train stop but he jumped onto the subway tracks and quickly but carefully made his way from one side to the other, avoiding the 3rd rails. Kulig didn’t hesitate and within seconds he picked up the young man and brought him onto the platform. “I just so happened to have taken track safety training with Metro North railroad about month and a half ago for a project most people don’t do,” he said.

As an engineering supervisor at Con Edison, he happened to be in the right place at the right time, as his office is just a block from the subway stop. He normally doesn’t work on Saturday, but was going in to complete a special project. “I kinda just feel like I did what I was supposed to do. I would do it again,” he said.

Kulig never found out who the man was, as after the incident, an ambulance came and took him away.

Dad Brings Wife Back To Life After She Died Doing Laundry

Dirty clothes pile up faster than you can wash them when you live with small children, which is why doing the laundry is a daily chore for parents.

And while it’s not the most enjoyable chore, doing laundry isn’t typically dangerous. However, for one Australian mom, doing laundry nearly cost her her life. 22-year-old mother-of-two Haylee Rouget had been doing the laundry like she did every other day, but this time, when she touched the metal tub inside the machine, she was electrocuted and she was killed instantly.

“They found me against the window sill, slouched over the trough,” Haylee said. “Trent had to actually pick me up and throw me across the laundry to be able to do CPR on me.” Haylee had already been dead for several minutes by the time her husband found her, but he thankfully managed to revive her. “I couldn’t feel a heartbeat, I tried looking for a pulse but couldn’t find a pulse, she wasn’t breathing,” Trent said about the terrifying moments after his wife was electrocuted by the damaged power cord.

Haylee was rushed to the hospital and was in a coma for six days and then spent three more weeks at the hospital before being sent home to finish recovering. As hard as that time was, the couple knows how lucky they were. Now, Haylee is sharing her story to warn others and is urging them to check and make sure their home has a safety switch, which would have prevented the accident completely. “We just want people to understand that this was totally avoidable,” said Haylee.

It’s not unusual for one Missouri man to see wild animals while driving to his farm, but while driving one morning, a bald eagle caught his eye when he noticed it was dangling in the air rather than flying.

“I take the dogs out every morning and I noticed that eagle hanging from the tree, and the closer I got, I realized the eagle got tangled up in fishing line,” said Alan Raetz. Raetz refused to just leave the poor animal since it would never get out on its own, so he called volunteer firefighter Brian Chaney for help.

“It’s in quiet a predicament hanging,” Chaney said. “I just shimmied up the tree, pulled him to me and then worked on cutting the string off of him.” After about 45 minutes, Chaney finally managed to cut through the fishing line and successfully released the 30-pound bird.

Stranger Discovers Three-Month-Old Abandoned In Grass

While out walking one evening, one Washington State good samaritan heard what sounded like an animal in distress and got to work looking for the animal to see if it needed any help.

The passerby took out their cell phone and turned on the flashlight function and started searching to see where the noise was coming from, and a few minutes later discovered that the distressed cries weren’t coming from a wild animal but a distressed human baby.

Photo by Facebook/Lakewood WA Police Department

The person immediately called 911 to report that they had found an abandoned baby. Police from the Lakewood Police Department rushed to the scene and saw that a baby had actually been abandoned in the grass wearing just a onesie. “In my 26 years of law enforcement, I don’t think I’ve seen a child abandoned in a yard like this,”

“In my 26 years of law enforcement I don’t think I’ve seen a child abandoned in a yard like this,” said Lt. Chris Lawler. “It’s extremely fortunate that somebody was going by and got to the child before his core temperature dropped or something else happened.”

Thankfully the baby boy, who was given to Child Protective Sources, was just a little cold but otherwise, unharmed. Police launched an investigation to locate the baby’s parents, and the next day, the team had located the father and mother, who admitted to taking drugs and abandoning her baby out of paranoia.

Dad Miraculously Wakes Up From Coma After Car Crash

On March 9, 38-year-old father-of-two Benjamin Bray was riding his motorbike when he was involved in a horror road accident with another car.

Even though he was wearing a helmet, the injuries to his head were fatal and he died right away. “He died at the scene,” brother Matthew said. “They sent the air ambulance and they put tubes in his throat to help him breathe but his brain had shut down.”

Bray was airlifted to the St. George’s Hospital in London and doctors put him in a medically induced coma because of how bad his head injuries were. After a few weeks, Bray still hadn’t made any improvement and doctors urged his family to take him off life support.

Bray’s family knew the odds were slim that he’d wake up, but still couldn’t take him off the machine keeping him alive.”Luckily we made the choice not to switch it off and he started to breathe again within a couple of days while he was still on the machine, but unfortunately he has got brain damage,” Matthew said.

“It is nice that he is here considering we were left with a decision to turn off with his machine. He would have left us two weeks ago,” Matthew said. So far, Bray is stable, can breathe on his own, and can swallow food. However, it will take six months to understand the extent of the brain damage. “He is definitely defying the odds. Doctors have asked if they can use his case for medical students and university.”

“He is definitely a fighter. The family is keen to get the message across that he would also almost certainly have died if he had not been wearing a crash helmet. The police have told us that Benjamin wasn’t speeding and wasn’t to blame. It shows the importance of wearing a helmet when these things happen.”

Just a few months ago, one Utah girl named Gianessa Wride was like any other seven-year-old girl. However, within three short weeks, all of her brown hair had fallen out.

After a trip to the doctor, Wride was diagnosed with alopecia areata, which is an autoimmune disease that makes hair from the entire body fall out. “The doc said that her body wanted ao badly to fight that virus that it got a little to excited and created antibodies again her hair as well,” mom Daniella Wride wrote in a post to Instagram.

The doctors also explained that Gianessa’s hair would likely never grow back. “She’ll probably be bald for the rest of her life, and since wigs make her head itch, we use beanies, hats, and scarves,” Daniella said. And while the news has been understandably devastating to Daniella, her brave seven-year-old has taken it all in stride. “There are times that I think I take it harder than she does. I remember just sobbing one night after she went to bed.”

So when Wride’s school was celebrating their annual ‘Crazy Hair Day’, the seven-year-old didn’t want to miss out on the fun even though her hair was gone. So together, Wride and her mom thought of something special to do, and finally decided to decorate her head with scrapbook jewel stickers. “I know she just wants to be like other kids and just fit in and have fun,” Daniella said. “She loves this kinda thing.”

“She looked in the mirror and said, ‘Mom, this is awesome!’” Daniella said. “Her friends loved it too.” In fact, her classmates and teacher loved it so much that she was declared the best ‘crazy hair’ of her class. “This girl is fierce and brave, way more so than I could have ever imagined. I love her more than anything.”

Construction Workers Save A Toddler Who Was Drowning

Normally, we think of heroes as police officers, firefighters, or soldiers, but heroes come in all shapes and sizes. And for one Washington State little boy, his heroes wear hard hats, tool belts, and work boots.

Recently, three construction workers were working at a site on Lake Washington when one of them, Chris Lucas, saw something unusual. “I noticed a young lady jumping off the dock. It didn’t look natural, it looked panicky,” said Lucas.

“Chris glanced over to the dock over here and said “Something’s wrong,’ and immediately bolted,” said construction worker Sean Sumner. “As I was running, I was taking my bags, my harness off, my vest, my phone came out, my wallet came out,” said the third worker, Ernesto Vasquez.

Chris got to the water first and jumped in to help the struggling woman. “And I jumped in,” said Chris. “Somehow I landed on a pillar, on a piling, and was able to get to my feet. When I could, she came over and I grabbed the little boy and I put him up on the dock.”

“It was just instinctual. I didn’t think about it, I just did it,” said Chris. “Finally we heard him like cry, out,” said Sean. “That changed our lives, I’d have to say.” Thanks to their efforts, Nathan, who ran away from his mom while at a nearby park, woke up and is now completely recovered.

“From seeing the baby, pale, dilated pupils, not breathing, very limp, very little pulse on him, we thought that it was literally a miracle that we were able to help out and get the baby out,” said Ernesto. “Life-changing experience.”

“Thanks to those people, my son is still with me today,” said Nathan’s dad.
