Hero 11-Year-Old Took Three Bullets To Save Baby Sister

Older brothers are known for being protective of their younger siblings, but one California boy is being hailed a hero for what he did to save his baby sister’s life.

This past Sunday, mom Carrie Joe had taken her kids to a birthday party at Mama Marks Park in Sacramento, and while the kids were playing, they suddenly heard gunshots. Rather than duck and hide to protect himself, Joe’s 11-year-old son ran over to his two-year-old sister who was in the line of fire.

“My son instantly blew cover and went over (to) his 2-year-old sister. He thought to protect her — basically his body covering her,” Joe said. “That’s why I tell people he’s my hero. He protected my baby.” The boy had acted as a human shield to protect his sister and was tragically shot in the chest, back, and knee in the process.

“I hate that this happened to him because he didn’t deserve it at all. My baby is a good child. He deserves to have his childhood and be able to play at parks,” said Joe. The boy was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery to remove a kidney, remove his appendix, and treat other organs that were damaged. “He’s on a breathing machine to help him breathe,” Joe said. “One of the bullets that went in, it kind of ricocheted and did a lot of damage.”

Despite the damage, doctors say the 11-year-old should make a full recovery. And as news of the 11-year-old’s brave and selfless act spread, people have been lining up to help the struggling family, who have been homeless since November. “We lost our house,” Joe said. “Having to get the kids back and forth, trying to figure out what we are going to eat, and clothes and shoes and stuff — it’s really hard.”

“When I got to my office, people were at my door waiting to give checks. We just want to give them a care package of money for them to go out and find a stable place to live,” said Councilmember Allen Warren. “I want to be able to bring my son home. And when I say home, home is with me and his brothers and his sisters. So, anywhere we are together is home,” said Joe, who just wants her son to be ok. “I just can’t wait — if we have a home for him to come home to, that would be better.”

Bombing Survivor Has Baby After Doctors Said It Was Impossible

Four years ago on April 15, 2013, Rebekah Gregory’s life was changed forever when she was struck by a homemade bomb that was detonated near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

In order to save her life, doctors had to amputate Gregory’s left leg. As if that wasn’t already devastating, doctors also explained that the blast had traumatized her body internally and told Gregory that she would never be able to have another child.

“They told me I’d never be able to have another baby and that was crushing,” said Gregory, whose body was riddled with shrapnel from the bomb. “They told me based on all the internal injuries and the shrapnel I had that it would be difficult to have a baby or even conceive a child.”

However, Gregory defied the odds when she became pregnant, and while she and her husband Chris were overjoyed by the miracle, the pregnancy was extremely dangerous. “I had a placenta abruption and they were worried about me losing my life as well as hers,” she said.

Because of the complications, baby Ryleigh was born prematurely and was very underdeveloped and had issues with her lungs. Yet Gregory’s miracle baby overcame every obstacle and is now healthy and thriving. “Now life is beautiful, Ryleigh is perfect and we are happy as we’ve ever been,” she said.

School Nurse Spots Signs Of Boy’s Leukemia Just In Time

Normally, kids can’t wait to get outside to play at recess. So when one one kindergartener didn’t want to play, the school nurse knew something was wrong.

“He stood alongside of me, and he said that his leg hurt and he didn’t want to really go out and play, ” Zane North Elementary School teacher Kathy Keller said about her student, Nathan Campbell. Keller notified the school nurse and sent him to her office, and when nurse Patti Butler finally set eyes on the little boy, alarm bells started going off in her head.

“His skin was translucent, and that’s when I said, ‘I’ve only see someone look this color once in 25 years, prove me wrong,” Butler said. She immediately called mom Nicole Defeo Campbell and explained that her son appeared to be showing symptoms of leukemia.

“Honestly, I wrote it off,” Campbell said. “I really thought she was being kind of alarmist because I didn’t see anything wrong with him, and then the doctor himself called.” A blood test confirmed Butler’s suspicions. Nathan was diagnosed with leukemia, but because she caught it so early, he responded well to treatment and is now in remission.

“If she hadn’t called us, we would not be standing here talking about Nate today,” Campbell said. “I believe that firmly that she saved him.”

Brave Man Risks Jail Time To Save A Dying Baby Bear

When a man named Corey Hancock was hiking on the Santiam River Trail recently, he spotted a baby bear in desperate need of help.

Hancock, who is a photographer, recounts the incident on his Facebook page, where he explains that it began raining that day during his hike when he spotted the bear cub two feet off the trail.

“Laying there on his back, seeming by all appearances to be dead,” wrote Hancock. “His lips were blue. His eyes were open but unmoving and hazy. The rain was pouring down, drenching his belly. I might have seen a shallow breath.”

Credit: Corey Hancock/Facebook

Recalling passing by this same trail an hour before, Hancock knew the cub wasn’t there earlier, so he feared the bear’s mother might not be far away. Assuming he may be attacked at any moment, he took a quick photograph of the dying cub and retreated a short distance down-slope toward a cliff-edge overlooking the river. “I remembered hearing somewhere that bears don’t move as well going downhill. Any advantage I could get, I was taking,” Hancock wrote.

From Hancock’s position by the cliff, he watched the cub and scanned the area for any sight or sound of other animals. Minutes passed, and he watched the tiny bear’s arm twitch a couple of times, indicating that he was alive. He knew he couldn’t survive much longer under these conditions, and he wasn’t going to stand there and watch the cub die in the rain.

Credit: Corey Hancock/Facebook

So, putting his own life at risk, Hancock rushed to the cub and wrapped him up like a baby in his flannel shirt. “Finally, with this bundle of bear cub in one arm, I took off running toward the trailhead and my waiting vehicle,” he wrote. The whole time, he feared a raging mother bear would come after him, as black bears can smell humans from 500 yards away. Finally, Hancock reached his vehicle and he took the cub out of his stuff-sack and examined him on the passenger’s seat.

He snapped a photo of the bear and uploaded it onto his Facebook, asking for help on where to take the dying baby bear. Hancock performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on him, and by this time, his Facebook post was getting attention.

“The next recommendation I got was to bring the cub to the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center, where they had a worker who lived on-site. I phoned and, sure enough, Mary was prepared to greet us and admit the bear when we arrived. I gave him the name Elkhorn, which refers to the area where I found him,” Hancock wrote.

Credit: Corey Hancock/Facebook

Mary could see immediately Elkhorn was near death. He was starving and dehydrated, so Mary put Elkhorn on a heating pad and injected him with electrolyte fluids. “The next morning, another Turtle Ridge worker, named Charles, phoned to let me know that the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife had contacted him, and were on their way to pick up the cub,” wrote Hancock.

Apparently, Hancock could have been fined $6,000 for helping the bear, or even worse- sent off to jail for a year. Luckily, this kind-hearted man was not punished and was able to see Elkhorn briefly before he was taken away.

Credit: Corey Hancock/Facebook

“For now, the ODFW is taking good care of him in his recovery. They’re restricting Elkhorn from human contact, as much as possible, including visits from the press. That way, the chances of him imprinting on any of us will be minimal.

Meanwhile, they’re exploring his options. Perhaps, through the sharing of this story, someone out there who’s involved in one of the better sanctuaries, or who has extensive expertise in re-wilding black bear cubs, will offer Elkhorn an invitation,” Hancock wrote.

We are so happy that Hancock literally risked his own life to save this dying baby bear because, in the end, he wound up saving the bear’s life.

The incredible rescue organization, Animal Aid Unlimited, India, received a call about a street dog who was badly injured and in dire pain.

He was so agitated by the pain he was in, but was starving and very weary about accepting food or getting too close to rescuers. They knew however that if they didn’t rescue him, the infected wound would soon kill him.

Animal Aid rescuers proceeded to try and catch the dog by hand, although they feared he might bolt at any minute.

They prepared to catch him with a net, and once they did, the dog was petrified but knew his healing had just begun. Back at the Animal Aid shelter, they started the dog’s treatment.

Off-Duty Firefighter Pulls Driver From Burning Car

For most police officers, firefighters, and first responders, saving people is a life calling and they’ll do whatever they can to help someone in need, no matter if they’re on the clock or not.

So when an off-duty Florida firefighter saw a car start smoking after the driver hit a telephone pole, he didn’t hesitate to pull the people to safety. “The vehicle was kind of coming across the median full-speed and went right in front of our vehicle and hit a telephone pole, knocked the telephone poll down,” said Miramar Fire Rescue Captain Bruce Hill.

“We never go home that way,” Hill said. “I went there just to get gas.” Thankfully, he was right there when the accident, which he suspected was caused by a medical emergency, happened because the car burst into flames seconds later. “I went into the driver’s side, unbuckled her and pulled her out,” Hill said.

“And right as I pulled her out is when the vehicle caught on fire,” Hill explained. “They would’ve burned to death in the vehicle, no question, absolutely.” Another deputy from Martin County helped pull the passenger out, and the two were rushed to the hospital for treatment, and while the extent of their injuries is unknown, they’d undoubtedly be in worse shape if Hill hadn’t been there.

Everyone reacts differently to dangerous, emergency situations, yet one 29-year-old Atlanta man is being hailed a hero for his reaction after realizing a man had fallen onto the train tracks.

This past week, Daniel Summers had taken the MARTA train to work like he did every other day to get to his job in Downtown Atlanta, Georgia. However, as he stepped off the train and onto the platform, he heard screaming and realized a man had fallen into the tracks. “I noticed that people were yelling, then I realized they were yelling ‘Help!'” Summers said.

“There was a split-second when I looked around and said, ‘Is this me? Do I need to be the one who jumps in?'” Summers said. “And yeah, I don’t remember looking for a train but I looked at the [third] rail and just hopped right in.”

Thankfully, another man jumped down onto the tracks and helped Summers lift the man back onto the platform. “He didn’t take a second to think. He came in and jumped down and helped me, and it took just a look in the eye, and kind of told him, like, we’re lifting this guy, without any words. And we popped him right off the track.”

“We were extremely grateful for their heroic acts for this patron,” said MARTA spokesperson Erik Burton. “People saw another individual in need and they jumped to his rescue. I want to applaud them because they did not hesitate to help him in his time of need. We are truly grateful for their actions.”

“There was really one choice – go help the guy get off the tracks,” Summers said about his brave actions that have people calling him a hero. “I hope someone would do that for me.”

Watch the entire video below to see the heart stopping moment these heroes risked everything to save a complete stranger.

The tenants of an East Houston home suddenly moved out and left their dog behind to fend for himself…

The poor dog was forced to wander the street and ended up crawling into a storm drain in search of shelter.

Yet after crawling inside, the dog became trapped and started crying out for help. Nearby neighbors including retired Marine Adam O’Brien heard the frantic cries for help, and when he realized it was the same abandoned dog, he didn’t hesitate to jump in and rescue him.

“It seems like the dog has had a rough life,” O’Brien said. However, after over a month without any human contact, the dog was terrified and cowered inside a small pipe. O’Brien tried to lure him out with food, but had to wait about 30 minutes for the dog to trust him enough to crawl out.

Once out of the pipe, a Houston SPCA worker climbed down into the sewer and the two carefully picked the dog up and carried him up a ladder to safety. After the dog was rescued, they brought him back to the SPCA’s shelter to recuperate until they could find him a forever home.

Some people think flight attendants are only helpful for handing out snacks, but they’re trained to handle a variety of emergency situations to keep flyers safe.

when passenger Nafi Diaby, started going into labor at just 28 weeks pregnant, the flight attendants on a Turkish Airlines flight from Conakry, Guinea to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso stayed incredibly calm and got to work delivering the baby.

“The cabin crew noticed that a woman passenger named Nafi Diaby, [who was] 28 weeks into her pregnancy, was suffering childbirth pains,” Turkish Airlines said in a statement. “They promptly responded to assist her childbirth during the flight.”

“The lady was in great pain,” flight attendant Bouthayna Inanir said. “And then the baby was on the seat. This was the hardest part. I had to grab the baby. I took her and gave her to the mother.” Despite being born prematurely at about 42,000 feet in the air, the baby named Kadiju and her mother were healthy and doing well by the time the plane landed and they were brought to a hospital.

An 11-year-old chocolate lab who is blind and nearly deaf became stuck in the middle of the Tuscarawas River this week.

Jennifer Hursey, Brodi’s owner let him out on the porch at her home at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, and she told timesreporter.com, “Lately, he has not been feeling good, so he hasn’t been leaving the porch much,” she said. “We didn’t expect this to happen.”

Just 5 minutes later at 5:35 a.m., Brodi was gone. Hursey and her sons Chantz, 10, and Easton, 8, searched high and low for Brodi, but they couldn’t find him anywhere. “He is a wonderful dog,” she said. “I have two little boys, and they’ve grown up with Brodi. He loves to swim and goes to the lake. When he goes to the lake, he’ll swim with the boys on his back. He also lets them dress him up.”

Credit: timesreporter.com

Around 3 p.m., a woman driving down U.S. Route 36 near Riverside, saw something moving on an island in the river, according to Terry Warner. The woman stopped her truck and when she saw a dog, she yelled but the dog wouldn’t respond. She immediately called the sheriff’s office and had them dispatch the Warwick Township Fire Department

Warner speculated that Brodi fell into the river and was carried downstream by the current to the island. When firefighters arrived, they put a boat in the river in the Tuscarawas boat landing, came down the river and loaded Brodi into their boat. Warner then picked up the Brodi and brought him to the dog pound. “Brodi stayed overnight on a nice thick quilt,” Warner said.

In the meantime, Hursey had put up a post on Facebook about her dog when she heard from someone that Brodi had been found. “We are just in tears,” she said. “I picked him up this morning. He was happy to see me. He hasn’t seen the boys yet. He will see them tonight. He will be excited to see them.”

Hursey expressed her gratitude to Brodi’s rescuers, saying, “We’re forever thankful to them. Brodi just means the world to us.”

Firefighters And Cop Rescue Bald Eagle Too Injured To Fly

The bald eagle is the official national bird and symbol of our country, so when one Kansas police sergeant was determined to do whatever it took to rescue a bald eagle struggling to fly.

This past week, Sgt. Justin Antle, range master for the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, received a call about an American Bald Eagle that was either too sick or too injured to fly. Antle immediately went to the spot near a lake where the bird was last seen and quickly spotted the bird.

“You could tell that it was injured,” Antle said. “It did not want to fly up at all.” The bird wouldn’t let Antle get close to him and would try to fly away, however, it would only make it about ten feet off the ground before having to land again. Antle knew he wouldn’t be able to catch the bald eagle on his own, so he called Ken Lockwood, program director for the Eagle Walley Raptor Center, for help.

On his way over, Lockwood stopped at the Sedgwick County Fire Department and enlisted the help of two firefighters since bald eagles can be incredibly hard to catch even when unable to fly. “Even when they can’t fly, they run like jack rabbits,” Lockwood said. “They do. They run like crazy.”

After two hours, the group managed to catch the male eagle and Lockwood quickly examined the bird before sending it to the veterinary school at Kansas State University for blood work and x-rays. It’s still unclear why the bird was struggling to fly, but once he’s healthy and strong, the team will release him back into the wild.

“It’s an eagle — that’s our national symbol. You just have to go rescue them. You can’t just let it die,” Lockwood said. “Today was my second bird rescue, I guess,” Antle said. “It’s pretty amazing.”

By the time a baby’s due date comes around, most expectant parents have every last detail of the impending birth planned to a T.

Yet when one California mom suddenly went into labor and rapidly started giving birth, her entire birth plan went out the window. The woman’s mother was forced to run outside of her home and enlist the help of the first person she saw, who happened to be their neighbor, Jordan Walker.

Walker’s boyfriend called 911, and she ran up into her neighbor’s apartment and found the woman in the middle of giving birth in the bathtub. “I found her in the bathtub with half the baby already out, feet first,” said Walker. “So I just got in the bathtub with her, and I was just telling her she needs to push.”

After a few more pushes, the baby came out, but Walker saw the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck three times and was suffocating him. “At that moment in time he wasn’t breathing and blue,” said Walker. “We just took the umbilical cord off his neck and I held him upside down and I was patting his back. A minute later I started hearing him make some noise and started crying.”

“I’ve never worked in pediatrics with kids, labor delivery, nothing like that at all,” Walker said after delivering and reviving the 7-pound, 1-ounce baby named Ezekiel. “I’m so thankful to God for being there and for guiding me through that.”

At 24 weeks pregnant, one Pennsylvania couple went in for a routine ultrasound and expected to find out the gender of their identical twins.

However, when first-time mom Carissa Gill and her boyfriend Randy went to Fetal Vision Imagine in Philadelphia, they not only found out the gender of their babies but also caught an incredibly rare moment between the siblings, who are due in July.

During the routine ultrasound, the technician was able to show the expecting couple that they were going to be having twin daughters, but also caught the two baby girls sharing a sweet kiss in the womb. “It was hard not to be so thankful during this moment. I am legit so blessed and can’t wait to meet our two precious princesses,” Gill wrote in a post to Instagram along with the amazing ultrasound photo, which has since gone viral.

Mom Gives Birth To Rare Twins Born Two Weeks Apart

When one mom pregnant with twins started going into labor prematurely, she was scared that her babies weren’t strong enough to be born yet.  Although, she was also thrilled that she would get to meet both of her babies that day.

“It was the most terrifying experience of my life. It was raining that morning and I wasn’t sure I would even make it to the hospital,” said LaTroya Woolridge, who had to drive herself to the hospital while in labor since her husband was out of town.

By the time LaTroya arrived, she was in active labor and gave birth to baby Amara minutes later. “Initially, we were told that Amara’s heart tone could not be detected, so when I finally delivered her and saw her feet moving I was filled with joy that she was alive but afraid of what would happen next,” LaTroya said about her 1-pound, 3-ounce baby.

Since LaTroya was only in her 24th week of pregnancy, doctors worked to keep Amara’s twin, Arthur III, in the womb for another two weeks. “We both cried several times, yet we also felt a calmness over us because we knew that Amara had the power to continue fighting,” LaTroya said of the intense two weeks she and husband Arthur were forced to endure. “It also gave me the strength to continue resting so Arthur III would have a better chance at survival.”

Two weeks after Amara was born, baby Arthur III was delivered via cesarean section and weighed just 2 pounds, 2 ounces. “We know that the prayers our family and friends prayed along with us have been answered,” LaTroya said. Today, Amara and Arthur are still in the NICU but are getting better each day. “We are happier than we have ever been and excited about our parenthood journey. We are amazed at the miracle we have watched before our eyes.

Cops Save A Choking 1-Year-Old’s Life Just In Time

Car trouble is a major inconvenience at the best of times, but when one couple’s truck broke down on the side of the road on the way to the hospital, it nearly cost them their baby’s life.

Moments before, parents Justin Green and Lemorriea Myers had been spending their Friday afternoon with their three young children, but when Green told their 0ne-year-old son, Zion, he couldn’t have any more peanuts, the little boy burst into tears and choked on some peanuts that he had just shoved into his mouth.

“He started to choke and I yelled for Lemorriea,” Green said. Myers, who has worked in childcare for over 10 years, ran down to Zion and started the Heimlich maneuver to hopefully dislodge the peanut. But when it didn’t work, the couple grabbed Zion and their other kids, jumped in their truck, and rushed to the hospital. Yet minutes later, their truck broke down and the couple feared Zion would die there. “I jumped out to flag down a deputy that was coming in the opposite direction,” said Justin.

“Friday afternoon I had one of my guys, he was getting flagged down at Decker and Faraway. I could tell in his voice he was a little distraught and said that it was an infant child that had stopped breathing,” said Corporal Kristin Boyles from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Boyles had been an EMT for many years so she rushed to the scene and took over when she arrived. “I used the seat and supported his head and gave him back blows to perform the Heimlich.”

Zion was unconscious and losing color so Senior Deputy Dennis Thomas, a former firefighter, took over while waiting for an ambulance. “The incident happened in the middle of the street. There were a lot of people around, not to mention, five o’clock traffic. Whew, traffic was backed up,” he said.

Moments later the ambulance finally arrived. “I kept doing compressions as I ran towards the ambulance and literally opened up the back and put him in,” Boyles said. “We began working on him all the way to the hospital. There was a whole lot of praying going on in the back of that ambulance.”

Thanks to the determined officers, baby Zion got to the hospital just in time to save his life. “God is with us. I mean favor is upon us. I couldn’t be more grateful, thankful, for everybody who played a part in it.  Everybody had a major part,” the grateful mother said.

“You know, we’re not in charge all the time. Everything turns out like it’s supposed to for a reason. I told Zion’s mom the other day, I said, ‘You know there is a reason he is here. We don’t know what it is yet. He doesn’t know what it is yet. But I got a feeling it’s going to be something big,” Boyles told Myers.

Boy Starts Lemonade Stand To Help Grandpa Fight Cancer

Most kids start a lemonade stand because they want money for a brand new toy or the cool new sneakers, but one selfless little boy from California decided to use the money he made to help his grandpa fight cancer.

This past December, 52-year-old Richard Sanchez was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer, the very same cancer that killed his own sister. “He is a very macho guy, but he’s scared,” said his daughter Chasity Sanchez. “The scary part for him is that he lost his sister 11 years ago to the same cancer.”

As hard as the news was for her to process, it was even harder for her 9-year-old son, Angel Reyes, when he found out. However, he refused to let his grandpa fight alone and wanted to help any way he could. So after he realized his grandpa needed money to pay for treatment since he was a construction worker and was unable to work after surgery to remove a tumor, he decided to start a lemonade stand to raise money. “I wanted to make money for him, $100, maybe $120, selling lemonade and popsicles,” Angel said.

“I care a lot of about my grandpa,” Angel said. “I want to do anything I can to help him. People have been really nice about wanting to help, too. I’ll keep doing this as long as I can, if it will help him.”

Soon members of the community heard about the touching reason behind the lemonade stand and helped Angel raise more than $21,000 through donations, lemonade sales, a GoFundMe campaign, and a generous match from local business owner Marci Dickerson. “You know he put a plan into action — had incredible compassion for someone else and a great work ethic and we firmly believe in rewarding that and helping,” Marci said.

“He just wants to help his grandpa in any way that he can, and for a nine-year-old, this is the best idea he could think of and I’m so proud of him for doing it,” Sanchez said. “We sent pictures of the stand to my dad. He got emotional when he saw them.”

Police officers have a responsibility to protect and serve their communities, but one Wisconsin cop went above and beyond for a dog that was abandoned and left tied to a tree.

On April 2nd, officers from Wisconsin’s Germantown Police Department discovered a dog bound to a tree behind a local Pizza Hut without any food or water. The dog appeared to be abandoned since it was a wooded area so the police untied the sweet dog and took her in to eat and get warm.

The dog, who was named Chance, went to the Washington County Humane Society and was put up for adoption after no one came forward to claim him. But soon after being put up for adoption, one of the officers couldn’t stop thinking about Chance and went to the shelter and adopted him.

And while the adoption was still pending, the rest of the officers were hard at work trying to find Chance’s former owner, and thankfully found the local resident and arrested them for mistreating animals, not providing proper food & drink to confined animals, abandoning animals, and obstructing.

When one Rhode Island’s man car was stolen, he was absolutely devastated. However, it wasn’t because his car was gone, but because of what had been inside the car when it was stolen…

After driving all the way from Rhode Island to Las Vegas for a dog show, Joseph Covill was excited when he and his five beloved Boston Terriers finally arrived. But soon after arriving, a thief stole Covill’s PT Cruiser, which had four of his five dogs inside.

“Hey! Oh boy. Where you been,” Covill said to his dog Billy during their emotional reunion.  “You’re a good boy. What’s going on? Where did you get the white nose? Where you been?” Covill explained the moment was bittersweet since three of his dogs were still missing, but he was overjoyed that he had Billy back and couldn’t wait to reunite Billy with his daughter Glitter, who Covill had been holding when the car was stolen.

Dog Reunites With Family After Breaking Out Of The Vet Hospital

Almost every dog owner thinks their pet is special, but one Virginia family has proof that their 10-year-old Great Pyrenees is extraordinary, thanks to the security cameras at their veterinarian’s animal hospital.

Recently, Travis Campbell and his family dropped their dog General at the Aquia-Garrisonville Animal Hospital while they went on vacation to Virginia Beach but warned the staff there that he was a talented escape artist. “He is very special,” said Campbell. “He is a smart dog. Getting out of doors, in a door is nothing new. I told them that when we dropped him off, but never had a problem getting out of any place that boarded him before.”

The staff assured him there was no way General would be able to escape, but at around 4:17 a.m. on Monday morning, General escaped his kennel and opened three doors to get outside. “Basically, he spent a night and a half rehearsing trying to figure out how to open the door from the inside, which is how he got a little scratch on his nose,” Campbell said. “It’s a trick to lift the latch from the inside and he figured it out and pushed on the door. Pretty impressive.”

The hospital sent out animal control officers, sheriff deputies, and staff members to look for General, who was thankfully found safe in a neighbor’s yard. Thanks to everyone’s tireless efforts, General was reunited with Campbell that night. “A big Thank you to ABC 7, and FOX 5 for spreading the word through Social Media all day!!” wrote Danielle Marie Carey Campbell on Facebook.

“My husband is on his way and General will join the family on the rest of our vacation. Big Thanks to Officer McCall, for all the calls, and finding our furbaby!! I can’t thank him enough!! He is our new Hero!!!!! Thank you all for the prayers and shares…”

Cat Survives Being Shot Twice And Is Still Found Purring

Cats aren’t typically known for being overly friendly and affectionate with strangers, which is why one rescuer was stunned when she met a cat that had been shot twice.

On April 5, Gail Ventzke, co-founder of the Cats Cradle Shelter in North Dakota, got a call from mobile home park manager who had found an injured cat. Ventzke immediately rushed over and could see what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The injuries were clearly painful, but the cat, who was named Bullet, wasn’t aggressive with her or afraid. Instead, the sweet cat wouldn’t stop purring whenever Ventzke got near him. “Surprisingly he was doing pretty well,” said Ventzke. “It was a leg wound but he couldn’t put any weight on the leg or paw. He was very sweet, he was purring, he’s a really nice cat.”

Ventzke brought Bullet back to the shelter to treat his injuries. “After several X-rays and a thorough exam it was discovered that there were not just two holes, but there were four. It looks like he may have been shot twice,” the shelter wrote in an update to Facebook. Despite the multiple fractures and shattered bones, the team believes Bullet, who has been a perfect patient, should make a full recovery and hope to find him a loving forever home. “He’s tolerating bandage changes really well,” Ventzke says. “He’s being very cooperative… He may have used up a couple of his nine lives with those bullets but he’s going to be just fine.”
