Cop Brings 1-Month-Old Back To Life After He Stopped Breathing

No parent should have to bury their child, and when one Texas mom went in to check on her sleeping newborn and found he wasn’t breathing, she thought she was reliving that nightmare for the second time.

Recently, mom Jessica Koester went in to check on her sleeping one-month-old newborn in his crib and discovered he had stopped breathing. “My heart ripped out of my chest, I was like I can’t do this,” said Koester, who had already lost a weeks-old baby boy named Kayle nine years ago in a similar experience.

“I was like you are not dying on me, I am not losing you,” said Koester. Thankfully, Sergeant Lee Brading from the Vidor Police Department arrived shortly after and started CPR on the tiny baby immediately. After several minutes that felt more like a lifetime, Brading managed to revive baby Nyle.

“He looked at my husband, he said okay buddy you are going to the hospital because we were a mess and he really held it together,” said Koester. Nyle was sent to a hospital in Houston in a medical helicopter, and doctors discovered the terrifying incident was caused by Whooping cough. Nyle is still at the hospital recovering, but he’s doing well and Koester can even pick him up again. “I missed it so much, I got to smell him and kiss him, he was alert and his eyes were open and he was like hey mom and smiled at me,” she said.

“I feel like I’m indebted to him in a way and I want to check on him and pray for him,” Koester said about Brading. “I hope he stays safe and people should appreciate him more, he should appreciate himself more don’t be so humble. Own it!”

Boy Taught Heimlich Maneuver On Dog Saves Choking Classmate

Most adults don’t even know how to properly perform the Heimlich maneuver, which is why everyone was stunned when one 11-year-old boy used the skill to save a classmate.

A few years ago, one Pennsylvania family’s beloved French Bulldog choked on a piece of rawhide. Thankfully, the dog was saved, but it got mom Caitlin Puccio, who works as a nurse, thinking about how important it is to know how to do the Heimlich maneuver.

“It’s really, really important for kids to know how to do the Heimlich maneuver,” Puccio said. “They’re the first line of defense.” So Puccio immediately taught her now 11-year-old son Ayden how to save their dog or anyone else who might be choking.”We practiced on the dog, talked about how to do it on a human and then I taught him how to do it on himself,” she said.

Amazingly, Ayden still remembers the life-saving skill years later, so when a classmate started choking, he knew exactly what to do. “I was really scared when it happened, and I knew I had to calm down and think about what I could do,” he said. Ayden immediately jumped to action and performed the Heimlich on the girl, and saved the girl’s life.

Student Saves Pug That Was Swallowed Up By 30-Foot Sinkhole

Sinkholes are a terrifying natural disaster. At any moment, cars, people, animals, and even entire homes can be swallowed up into the earth where there was once solid ground.

After a day of heavy rain, the ground on a family farm became so saturated with water. When the Florida family’s pug named Cookie took one step on it the next day, on April 5, the ground suddenly collapsed under her feet and swallowed her up completely.

Photo by Facebook/University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine

As soon as Cookie’s owners realized what happened, they called the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, who then contacted the UF’s Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service. The students and staff teamed up with the Gilchrist County Fire Rescue, the Fanning Springs Fire Rescue, and the Trenton Fire Department and immediately got to work rescuing the animal.

For five hours, the team worked to dig Cookie out from the ground and then finally lowered Jennifer Groover, a brave veterinary student into the 30-foot sinkhole. Once at the bottom, she scooped Cookie up, and the dog, who was miraculously unharmed, was safely pulled back up to safety.

Hero Helps Dogs Get Wheelchairs After His Dog Became Paralyzed

In 2014, one Wisconsin man’s four-legged best friend was tragically hit by a truck one morning. Gunnar the dog survived, but he was left with two broken vertebrae and a 50/50 chance of recovering.

“The problem with traumatic injury, especially for an animal, is you’re never prepared for it — mentally or financially. It pretty much drained us,” said Jason Parker. He and his wife Stephanie spent about $7,000 on surgeries and months of physical therapy, but nothing improved. By the time Parker started looking into canine wheelchairs, which cost about $600, he could no longer afford one.

However, a good friend stepped up and bought the wheelchair for Gunnar and finally gave him his mobility back. “I said to my wife, one of these days we’re going to pay it forward,” Parker said. And last summer, Parker found out about a shelter dog named Hope who had been hit by a car, so he bought a wheelchair online and sent it to Hope. “Jason was the primary reason Hope healed/recovered. Without his encouragement and donation, she wouldn’t have the chance to fight as hard,” said Paige Storz, founder of Foxtail Pet Rescue and the veterinary technician who helped Hope make a full recovery.

Since then, Parker has started Gunnar’s Wheels Foundation, which sends pet wheelchairs to pets across the country to keep until they pass away or no longer need a wheelchair. The wheelchairs are then returned and sent out to a new animal in need. So far, Parker has helped 129 animals get wheelchairs, which he’s been able to afford thanks to donations to his GoFundMe campaign to support the foundation.

“The relief I hear in someone’s voice when I tell them I can help — it’s a good feeling,” Parker said. “My goal is to never say we can’t help,” Parker said. “I know how much Gunnar’s company means to me… You just can’t give up on them. The animal isn’t going to give up on you. I think it’s up to us to not give up on the animals.”

Can you believe the amazing way this man is giving back after he received so much help to get his own dog a wheelchair?

Blind Couple Gets 3D-Printed Ultrasound To Help Them Feel Their Unborn Baby

When a legally blind couple received the news that they were expecting a child, they were blown away.

Ana Paula Silveira and Alvaro Zermiani from Brazil told InsideEdition that they became so nervous at the thought of not being able to see their unborn child on an ultrasound that would help them bond with their son.

“My major concern was not only not being able to see on the ultrasound, but I also didn’t know if someone else would really be able to describe to me what my baby looked like,” Silveira told InsideEdition.com. But with the help of modern technology, the couple was able to experience their baby in a completely revolutionary way.

Credit: GE Healthcare

Silveira and Termini were offered the opportunity to have a 3D-printed ultrasound, through GE Healthcare’s technology, at an institute in Rio De Janeiro. The man behind the technology is Dr. Heron Werner, a Brazilian obstetrician, and gynecologist. He would be helping the couple to meet their unborn child through an ultrasound that they could feel.

“With the 3D printing I didn’t have to rely on someone’s description. I could have something that was real and I could see in the way I am familiar with,” Silveira said. The system is called GE Healthcare’s Voluson E10 and it’s the first ultrasound system in the field to have a 3D printing capability built directly into the system.

“There was a 3D-printing project going on in 2007, where Computed Tomography was being used to image fossils and mummies at the National Museum of Brazil,” Werner said. “I thought, ‘Why not use this technology to print fetuses?” So in 2012, Werner began providing the service for visually impaired women at no cost.

Credit: 3ders.org

“There was a TV interview with Dr. Heron about his work,” Silveira said. “I wasn’t pregnant yet at the time, but my husband and I kept the idea in mind for when it happened. One year later when we found out we were pregnant, we managed to get in touch with Dr. Werner who agreed to follow me through my pregnancy stages.” Silveira was provided three ultrasounds for each trimester of pregnancy that the couple was able to take home with them.

“As you know for blind people, touch is really important, and Dr. Heron provided an experience that we otherwise could not have had. It was life-changing,” Zermiani told InsideEdition.com. The couple’s son, Davi Lucas Zermiani is now 3 years old and after showing him his ultrasounds of himself, he is in love with them. “He knows it’s a model of him and we explained to him why it was made,” Silveira said. “He’s proud of it and he shows it to his friends.”

Jogger Saves Drowning 86-Year-Old From Sinking Car

When one Tennessee woman was out for a jog over the weekend, she made a spur-of-the-moment decision to make her usual run a little longer.

Gloria Davis didn’t know it at the time, but that decision would end up saving another person’s life. As she took an extra lap around a local pond, she witnessed a driver crash their car into the water. “A car was going airborne into the middle of the pond,” Davis said. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this is happening.'”

The 86-year-old driver Ann Leslie had meant to press the brakes, but accidentally stepped down onto the gas and ended up shooting out into the pond, and was quickly trapped inside her sinking car. “There was a woman, and she looked scared,” Davis said about Leslie. “[I thought,] I’m going to try and do something. I’m going into the pond.”

The brave mother and founder of the non-profit greenhouse called “Special Growers,” which gives people with disabilities a place to work, dove into the water and swam out to the car that was almost completely submerged. “Miraculously, she got her back window down,” Davis said. “Then she reached for me, and I got her out so her head was above water.”

Davis held Leslie above water until paramedics arrived, and the 86-year-old is sure she would have died if not for David, who she is now calling her guardian angel. “It’s a situation you hope you’re never confronted with, but I feel like I did the right thing,” Davis said.

Bomb Squad Builds Beeping Eggs So Blind Kids Can Hunt Easter Eggs

The brave soldiers and police officers that belong to bomb squads use their skills to keep civilians and their communities safe. Recently, however, local New Mexico explosive specialists are using their skills to help their communities in another way.

When Air Force Tech Sgt. John Johnson heard about a beeping Easter egg hunt held in South Carolina for blind and visually impaired children, he was inspired to host a similar event in his own community. “I was wondering if our community had a need for that,” Johnson said.

Johnson received a lot of positive feedback about the event, so with the help of dozens of local explosive specialists from the Air Force, the Army, and the Albuquerque Police Department’s bomb squad, he decided to put on a beeping Easter egg hunt on April 15.

To prepare, the explosive specialists came together at the Kirtland Air Force Base to build circuits to go inside the eggs, which would make a beeping noise that will allow children to hunt them by sound rather than sight. “We tried to build an assembly line, and it’s going pretty well,” said Air Force Tech Sgt. John Johnson. “We’re building some pretty in-depth circuits.”

“I think it’s important that blind people get an opportunity to do the same thing that sighted people do,” said nine-year-old Faith Switzer who was thrilled when she heard about the event. “We need more of it. You know, these kids just want to be normal and…” said Adam Buckner, a grateful dad who plans to take his visually impaired son to the egg hunt. “It’s just really sweet.”

Cops Raise Thousands For Hardworking Teen So He Can Go To College

Last September, California police officer Kirk Keffer made a routine pedestrian stop when he spotted an African American teen walking alone late at night on a deserted, industrial street.

While someone else may have assumed the boy was up to no good, Keffer simply asked where he was headed and learned that 19-year-old Jourdan Duncan was just doing what he did every night. “Walking home, sir,” Duncan explained. “It takes me a little over two hours one way.”

Keffer couldn’t believe Duncan walked over four hours every day just to get to work and back, and offered Duncan a ride home. During the seven-mile ride, Keffer learned that Duncan was working so hard to help his parents and save money for college so that he could one day become a California Highway Patrol Officer. “I just had to shake his hand when he got out of the car,” Keffer said.  “I told him I admired his work ethic and there was nothing he couldn’t accomplish.”

Keffer was still stunned by the 19-year-old work ethic and told his coworkers about the experience. A few days later, Keffer and other officers chipped in and surprised Keffer with a new $500 bike to make his commute a little easier. While Duncan was overwhelmed by their generous gift, Keffer wanted to do more for the boy and started a GoFundMe campaign to fix his car. But when the initial $5,000 goal was reached within days, Keffer decided to raise the goal to $50,000 so that they could help Duncan achieve his dream of going to school.

So far, more than $47,500 has been raised for Duncan, who was able to start taking classes at Solano Community College. “I still can’t believe any of this. Everything he’s done for me has been life-changing,” Duncan said about Keffer, who he calls his friend and mentor. “We’re not all about crime and punishment,” Keffer said. “We’re out there to improve the quality of life whenever we can.”

Lunch Lady Fired After Feeding Hungry Kids Without Money

For the past 14 years, one Ohio lunch lady has spent her days making sure the children at Denver Place Elementary School were fed and full, but the school recently fired her for doing her job a little too well.

This past February, beloved lunch lady Debbie Solsman was fired by the district after she intentionally broke the rules and give extra food to kids who were still hungry or even upgrade lunch for students who had no money at all and were supposed to get cheese sandwiches.

“If they didn’t have enough money in their account, they would get a cheese sandwich instead … The other kids knew when they walked out into the cafeteria why they got the cheese sandwich,” Solsman said. “There were children that got a free lunch that would come back and say, ‘Miss Debbie, I’m still hungry’ … And you don’t know how many times I heard they didn’t have supper that night.”

Solsman couldn’t bare to let a child go hungry and would almost always help them if she could, but would keep IOU notes and even paid for food out of her own pocket. Despite going above and beyond for the children, the district still fired her and parents were furious when they heard the news.

“I broke the rule,” Solsman said. “I’m the one that broke the rule, it’s not the district, and I really want everybody to know that my 14 years that I was there, Wilmington City Schools were good to me … But in my heart, when that child tells me they’re hungry, do I believe them or just say, ‘No, you don’t need any more today?’ How do you determine the difference between that?”

Mom Delivers Her Own Baby On The Way To The Hospital

By the time one expecting Michigan mom was nine months pregnant, she had her baby’s birth planned out and had her bags packed and ready to head to the hospital once her water broke.

So when mom Sara Suchodolski went into labor on March 28 while at home with her boyfriend Trevor and their daughter Mila, they grabbed their bags, jumped in the car, and headed to the hospital, which was about a half an hour away, as planned.

However, soon after getting in the car, Suchodolski realized that her birth plan wasn’t going to happen since they weren’t going to make it to the hospital soon enough. “I don’t know, it all happened so fast,” said Suchodolski. “You never think you are going to be that person.”

“I was freaking out because I didn’t think I could do it, ya know? How am I going to do it? I could see anything in the back of the car,” she said. But Suchodolski knew she didn’t have a choice. The baby was coming and she was going to have to deliver it herself.

Despite being in the back seat of a moving Chevy Impala next to her toddler in a car seat, Suchodolski started pushing and managed to deliver her second child ten minutes before reaching the hospital. Once they arrived, doctors examined baby Maci Vallari Prime who weighed six pounds and fifteen ounces, and told the nervous parents that their new daughter was perfectly healthy.

“As scared as I was, and as much of a nightmare that it was going to be for me, it really wasn’t– it is crazy– it is awesome to be able to say that I delivered my own baby.”

Cop Adopts Abandoned Dog Who Was Found Tied To A Tree

Police officers have a responsibility to protect and serve their communities, but one Wisconsin cop went above and beyond for a dog that was abandoned and left tied to a tree.

On April 2nd, officers from Wisconsin’s Germantown Police Department discovered a dog bound to a tree behind a local Pizza Hut without any food or water. The dog appeared to be abandoned since it was a wooded area so the police untied the sweet dog and took her in to eat and get warm.

Photo by Germantown Police Department Wisconsin

The dog, who was named Chance, went to the Washington County Humane Society and was put up for adoption after no one came forward to claim him. But soon after being put up for adoption, one of the officers couldn’t stop thinking about Chance and went to the shelter and adopted him.

And while the adoption was still pending, the rest of the officers were hard at work trying to find Chance’s former owner, and thankfully found the local resident and arrested them for mistreating animals, not providing proper food & drink to confined animals, abandoning animals, and obstructing.

Dog Reunites With Family After Breaking Out Of The Vet Hospital

Almost every dog owner thinks their pet is special, but one Virginia family has proof that their 10-year-old Great Pyrenees is extraordinary, thanks to the security cameras at their veterinarian’s animal hospital.

Recently, Travis Campbell and his family dropped their dog General at the Aquia-Garrisonville Animal Hospital while they went on vacation to Virginia Beach but warned the staff there that he was a talented escape artist. “He is very special,” said Campbell. “He is a smart dog. Getting out of doors, in a door is nothing new. I told them that when we dropped him off, but never had a problem getting out of any place that boarded him before.”

The staff assured him there was no way General would be able to escape, but at around 4:17 a.m. on Monday morning, General escaped his kennel and opened three doors to get outside. “Basically, he spent a night and a half rehearsing trying to figure out how to open the door from the inside, which is how he got a little scratch on his nose,” Campbell said. “It’s a trick to lift the latch from the inside and he figured it out and pushed on the door. Pretty impressive.”

The hospital sent out animal control officers, sheriff deputies, and staff members to look for General, who was thankfully found safe in a neighbor’s yard. Thanks to everyone’s tireless efforts, General was reunited with Campbell that night. “A big Thank you to ABC 7, and FOX 5 for spreading the word through Social Media all day!!” wrote Danielle Marie Carey Campbell on Facebook.

“My husband is on his way and General will join the family on the rest of our vacation. Big Thanks to Officer McCall, for all the calls, and finding our furbaby!! I can’t thank him enough!! He is our new Hero!!!!! Thank you all for the prayers and shares…”

Cat Survives Being Shot Twice And Is Still Found Purring

Cats aren’t typically known for being overly friendly and affectionate with strangers, which is why one rescuer was stunned when she met a cat that had been shot twice.

On April 5, Gail Ventzke, co-founder of the Cats Cradle Shelter in North Dakota, got a call from mobile home park manager who had found an injured cat. Ventzke immediately rushed over and could see what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The injuries were clearly painful, but the cat, who was named Bullet, wasn’t aggressive with her or afraid. Instead, the sweet cat wouldn’t stop purring whenever Ventzke got near him. “Surprisingly he was doing pretty well,” said Ventzke. “It was a leg wound but he couldn’t put any weight on the leg or paw. He was very sweet, he was purring, he’s a really nice cat.”

Ventzke brought Bullet back to the shelter to treat his injuries. “After several X-rays and a thorough exam it was discovered that there were not just two holes, but there were four. It looks like he may have been shot twice,” the shelter wrote in an update to Facebook. Despite the multiple fractures and shattered bones, the team believes Bullet, who has been a perfect patient, should make a full recovery and hope to find him a loving forever home. “He’s tolerating bandage changes really well,” Ventzke says. “He’s being very cooperative… He may have used up a couple of his nine lives with those bullets but he’s going to be just fine.”

8-Year-Old Dare Devil Drives His Hungry 4-Year-Old Sister To McDonald’s

When an 8-year-old boy was craving McDonald’s, he got behind the wheel of his dad’s van and took it upon himself to go get that cheeseburger.

The Ohio boy brought his 4-year-old sister along for the ride and witnesses say that he obeyed all traffic laws while making sure to stop properly at red lights. According to Fox 5 News, the child even waited for traffic to pass before taking a left turn, and stayed within the speed limit.

“It was remarkable,” East Palestine Police Officer Jacob Koehler told InsideEdition.com Wednesday. “He got him and his sister to McDonald’s without hitting anything or running any red lights. I was expecting to get call after call about mailboxes being knocked over, stupid stuff like that. But he didn’t hit a single thing,” Koehler said.

When the van pulled up at McDonald’s, the workers were convinced this was all a prank. “The workers thought that the parents were in the back, but obviously they weren’t,” responding patrolman Jacob Koehler told WFMJ.

Apparently, the boy had watched YouTube videos to learn how to drive ad took money from his piggy bank to pay for the food. “He said he and his sister looked up how to drive on YouTube,” Koehler said. “They waited until mom fell asleep and grabbed her keys.”

The boy was able to reach the pedals by standing up while driving, and Koehler says he was stunned that such a little boy was able to handle such a large vehicle. “This was a one-ton work van,” the officer said. “This thing was huge.”

Credit: McDonald’s

Luckily, a customer at McDonald’s recognized the children and called their grandparents. Police called their parents, and all family members rushed to the restaurant.

“I’m not sure there are any words to accurately describe their reactions,” Koehler said. When the little boy saw the cops pull up, he burst into tears, aware that he had done something wrong. He did not get into any trouble with the law, and no charges were filed.

Can you believe an 8-year-old made it safely to McDonald’s? Do you have any similar stories to share?

Visually And Hearing Impaired Children Participate In Beeping Easter Egg Hunt

Thanks to the Blind Children’s Center, visually impaired kids were able to participate in Easter egg hunting this year too.

While these Easter eggs weren’t dyed or painted, they still allowed for all children to be included in the fun. Over 80 Los Angeles families participated in the Blind Children’s annual Beeping Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, and it was aimed towards visually impaired children who would have a hard time participating in a typical egg hunt.

Credit: Inside Edition YouTube/KCBS

Kids hunted eggs that emitted a beeping noise around a local schoolyard and were able to exchange them for an Easter basket of goodies. The beeping and vibrating eggs helped the children to better locate the eggs and enjoy the hunt at their own place.

Yoreka Douglas says it’s great for her son because, “He cannot see it at all, so it’s good because he can hear it. It peeps for him.” “It turns confusion and overwhelm into open joy,” said Dr. Fernanda Armenta-Schmitt of the Blind Children’s Center, according to KCBS. “It helps us also understand a loss of ability, loss of a skill or sense, doesn’t limit us from having fantastic lives.”

Credit: Inside Edition YouTube/KCBS

Volunteers came up with the beeping egg in 1964 and since then it’s remained an important way to help students develop their sense of hearing, and be included in the annual Easter tradition. Los Angeles schools weren’t the only ones who held a Beeping Easter Egg Hunt this year, the Dallas ISD teamed up with AT&T to host their annual hunt for visually and hearing impaired children as well.

Arbige Salgado and his wife brought their daughter to the event and told CW33, “just the little things that they do is just.. you know, something that helps out a lot. You know? You as a parent feel proud at what they do.”

As if United Airlines hasn’t had enough drama going on lately, the company has yet another crisis on its hands: A man was stung by a scorpion on a recent flight.

After spending two weeks on vacation in Mexico, Richard and Linda Bell were on a United Airlines flight home from Houston to Calgary on Sunday. They thought their adventure was over until a scorpion fell from the overhead compartment and on to Richard.

“Something fell on my head, so I grabbed it,” he recalled to Inside Edition. “My neighbor said, ‘That’s a scorpion, they’re dangerous.’ So I dropped it on my tray, then I went to grab it again, and that’s when I got stung.”His wife Linda said the scorpion stung him “right by the nail bed.” Bell told Global News Canada that it “felt like a wasp sting.”

Bell finally took the scorpion stomped it on the ground and then threw the remains in the toilet. Upon landing in Calgary, emergency personnel came on board the plane to examine Richard, and according to an EMS spokesperson, he showed no signs of distress and declined medical attention.

While it is unclear how the scorpion got onto the flight, the most likely scenario is that it snuck onboard inside someone’s luggage. United Airlines told Inside Edition: “Our crew immediately consulted with a physician on the ground who provided guidance. Medical personnel met the aircraft after it arrived. We reached out to the customer to apologize.”

The pilot and flight attendant also made an announcement that someone was stung by a scorpion.

Heroes Rescue Driver Survives Truck Dangling Off Highway Bridge

A heart-pounding rescue was captured on video last week when a truck was teetering over the edge of a highway near the Surrey/Delta border in Vancouver.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Delta police say the incident occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 17 on Thursday afternoon, although how and why the truck went through the barrier and over the edge is still under investigation.

Sharlene Brooks of the Delta police said fire crews managed to get the driver out of the truck. “They just needed to make sure the vehicle was somewhat secure in order to get him out of the driver’s seat. He was the only occupant of the vehicle, which is again, very fortunate,” said Brooks. “We tried to call him but his phone was on the floor of the passenger side and he wasn’t moving.”

Apparently, a toolbox fastened to the undercarriage of the truck is credited for stabilizing the truck on the barrier and preventing it from tumbling over the ledge. The unnamed driver works for Canadian Slab Distributors, whose human resources manager says the driver spent 30 intense minutes stuck in the truck.

“He was sitting really still. He was so scared he was going to go over. It’s a good thing for that toolbox,” Jennifer Zandvliet told the Vancouver Sun. Zandvliet only learned of the accident after seeing pictures of the truck on news websites. “I zoomed in on the logo and it was our truck,” she said. “We tried to call him but his phone was on the floor of the passenger side and he wasn’t moving. I am just so happy he is safe.”

The driver was extracted from the vehicle, although he was taken to the hospital suffering serious injuries. According to reports, he is now at home resting.

Five Neglected Dogs Freed From Pounds Of Matted Fur

After working as an animal rescuer for thirty years, one Florida man was truly shocked and appalled by the pain and suffering five Lhasa apsos were forced to endure for years.

This past February, Robin Roberts and a few other volunteers from the Critter Mama Rescue, Inc. were contacted by a man who claimed he needed to surrender five dogs because his apartment did not allow pets. “The concept of having five adoptable, well cared for Lhasas sounded fine,” Roberts said. The group met the man in a parking lot, and as he pulled out the first dog from his van, the rescuers discovered the animals had been far from cared for.

“We gasped in horror,” Roberts said. “These creatures didn’t have faces or feet. They literally could not walk or see. The stench drifted across the parking lot and hit us hard; smelling of urine, feces and filthy dogs.” Roberts contacted Rick Chaboudy, the executive director of Suncoast Animal League, since they were a larger rescue organization and could better care for the horrifically neglected dogs.

Chaboudy went to pick the dogs up as soon as he heard about them, and even though it was just after midnight when he arrived, he loaded the dogs into the car and headed straight to Island Dog Outfitters since it was the worst case of neglect he’d ever seen. “The mats on these dogs were so thick, one of the dog’s ears was stuck to her head. Feces and urine were caked into the mats, but their feet were the worst. The dogs could barely walk due to having 2 inches of matted fur between their paws and the ground,” Chaboudy said. “We removed between one and a half pound of mats from the foot of one dog alone.”

Chaboudy, groomer Clint Wilson, and two other volunteers worked throughout the night to remove pounds of filthy matted fur, and when the fur was finally removed, it was clear they all were riddled with parasites and were starving. “To call what happened to these five poor dogs neglect and abuse is truly an understatement, but moving forward, things will be much better for them. Today, they will receive medical care and then we will begin to learn about their personalities. Hopefully, they will remember that humans CAN be trusted,” Suncoast Animal League wrote in a post to their Facebook page.

The dogs were then taken to be examined by a vet and all received treatments to stop infections and parasites and underwent surgeries to remove rotting teeth, get spayed or neutered, and remove tumors. Despite everything they had been through, the elderly dogs quickly warmed up to rescuers and they started looking for loving homes that would be able to care for them for the rest of their lives.

Six weeks after rescuing the dogs, each of the five dogs had been adopted into loving homes and Chaboudy presented the five families with their new companions at a recent fundraiser. “We had the BEST afternoon yesterday celebrating the journey, adoptions, and beginning of the Fab Five’s new lives. It was like like a bestselling novel with all the great elements. We laughed. We cried. We cheered. Then we said goodbye,” Chaboudy said about the emotional afternoon. “I can guarantee you he’ll never have another bad day in his life,” one of the adopting families assured Chaboudy.

Rescuer Saves Lost Dog From A Pile Of Branches On A River

While out looking for a man that may have drowned in a California river, a group of locals spotted a terrified dog stranded precariously on top of a pile of tree branches and debris.

Since the dog was too far out to reach safely, the group called a local animal rescuer for help. “I’m known in the community as an animal rescuer,” Jessica Barraza said. “A friend who is also involved in animal rescue heard of the dog’s situation and got in touch with me immediately. When we got there the next morning, he looked friendly and eager to be out of that situation.”

The dog had been stuck on the pile for days without any food or water, so by the time Barraza and her friend arrived, he was more than happy to be rescued. The two women tried to help the dog climb out on his own, but he was too afraid to move, so Barraza bravely climbed down and brought him back to safety.

At first, Barraza feared the sweet pit bull had been abandoned there, but he looked well cared for. Soon after rescuing him, a family came forward to claim their lost pet, and Barraza was happy to reunite them. “He had gotten loose, and his family had been looking everywhere for him, driving around and posting on lost and found pages,” Barraza said. “How he ended up in the river is a mystery, but this dog definitely had angels watching over him.”
