Zoo Welcomes Surprise Birth Of First-Ever Human Baby

Most expecting moms know that no matter how much they plan and prepare, they have no control over when and where they’ll go into labor.

However, with a whole month left of her pregnancy, one Nebraska mom-to-be thought she still had plenty of time before her daughter arrived. But shortly after Kymica Hubbard entered the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska, she realized her baby girl was on the way and wasn’t going to wait four more weeks in the womb, nor wait until they could get to the hospital.

Hubbard started having contractions while riding the train at the zoo, then she knew it was serious when her water broke in the restroom shortly after. Hubbard and her husband Justin knew they had to head straight to the hospital, but didn’t even make it out of the gate before baby Drea was born. “When I started feeling her head, I was like, ‘Oh my God, my daughter is here. It’s coming! So I got more excited than scared,” said Hubbard.

The birth was so quick that not even the zoo’s staff EMTs made it to her in time, but thankfully Justin is a trained nursing assistant and was able to safely deliver his daughter. “She was crying, cooing. It was just the most beautiful thing that a man could ever see. It was a truly blessed experience,” Justin said.

“I know she’s going to ask, ‘Mom, where was I born?’ I’m like, ‘Okay, you were born at the zoo!'”

Nurses spend most of their lives trying to help others and keep them safe. One Ohio nurse is being hailed a hero for going above and beyond the call of duty to save a baby seconds from drowning.

This past weekend, a devastating flash flood ripped through Green Township, Ohio and left people fighting for their lives as water level quickly rose above waist height. It happened so suddenly, in fact, that one couple was left frozen in shock as their car started to sink with them and their baby trapped inside.

Thankfully, a nursing home worker spotted the young family getting pulled under the water, and waded out into the dangerous water to save them. “The water’s probably midway on my waist, and then I tell them, ‘We got to get the baby out, you need to give me the baby, we need to go,’” Sandra Paterson said.

“The water was rising quickly,” said Patterson. “We only had a few seconds to get the baby out.” Luckily, she was able to pull the baby out and the parents managed to get free with just seconds to spare. “Within a matter of seconds, the car was under,” she said.

Woman Saves Baby After Parents Tried To Sell Him Online

Parents are supposed to do absolutely anything to protect their baby and keep them out of harm’s way. That’s why one Tennessee woman was horrified when she realized what one couple was trying to do with their own child…

Last week, Pamela Wise was browsing the ‘for sale’ section on Craigslist, hoping to find some supplies that would help fix up a vintage camper that had been sitting in her yard. However, as she scrolled through the ads, one ad for an adoption caught her eye.

“I thought, well I’ll just look and see what it is,” Wise said. The ad was from a woman nearby, so Wise reached out to try and find out more. “She said, I have a five-month-old, I said boy or girl, she said it’s a little boy, five months old, and you can adopt him, you can have him, I’ll sell him to you,” Wise said.

Wise soon realized that the woman was really trying to sell the baby for profit, so she immediately contacted the Elizabethton Police Department. “She said what problem do you have, and I said there is a lady trying to sell me her baby on Craigslist. Next thing I knew a detective and lady from the Carter County Department of Human Services was there,” Wise said.

The police then took Wise’s phone and began negotiating with the mother on a price and settled on a time and place to meet. “They talked and negotiated a price, and they were wanting to sell their five-month-old baby for $3,000,” said Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins.

“We were anticipating more of a scam or someone that was fixing to rob someone. Once you walked up there and really looked in that baby carriage, and saw that little child, that’s when it gave you the sick feeling of what was going on,” Hankins said. John Cain and Deanna Greer were arrested and now face felony charges, and their baby is now safe in protective custody.

“I just think the Lord put me in the right place at the right time to save his little life,” Wise said. “That little baby had a little angel watching over him, and that angel will always be with him.”

For a mother with three children, having your car break down is a massive inconvenience, but now one Arizona mom sees her car trouble was really a blessing in disguise.

Recently, mom Zarah Ajmi’s car broke down, and she was forced to ride her bike to get around. This past weekend, Ajmi was riding her bike past a community pool at around 8:30 a.m. when she noticed a 7-year-old girl in pajamas climbing the fence to get in the pool, which wasn’t open yet.

“I have three kids so I know how kids act in water. I just knew I needed to go check and see. I had a feeling, go make sure she knows how to swim,” Ajmi said. As she watched, the girl started struggling and could barely keep her head above the water.

“I could see her bobbing out of the water, and it was obvious she did not know to swim, so I climbed up to get over and it took me a few times, and I jumped right in the water, pulled her out right to the steps,” Ajmi said. She immediately called 911, and shortly after, the autistic girl’s mother and first responders arrived. Thanks to Ajmi, the girl had not been harmed.

“Thank God my car broke down and I was having to walk because everything happens for a reason, and I was at the right place at the right time,” she said.

Homeless Man Returned $676 Money Order That Stranger Lost

One California mom assumed someone would jump at the chance to cash in a money order for hundreds of dollars that she lost.

That’s exactly why she was stunned when a total stranger went out of his way to return it to her. “It flew away somehow,” said Yesenia Del Valle, who had taken out a $676 money order to make her tax payment. “I tore my car apart looking everywhere. I thought maybe I left it in the tax office, checking for it there. I was frantic.”

Del Valle never thought she’d see the money order again, but later that night a complete stranger knocked on her door with the piece of paper in his hands.

“When he knocked on my door, I never would have imagined it was about the check. I was shocked and wanted to know where he found it,” Del Valle said. Sergio Juarez had found it underneath his tire earlier that day and was able to track her down based on the address she had written on the back.

“I got him $40 and I said, ‘Here take your wife to Denny’s,'” Del Valle said. However, Juarez mentioned he’d be using the money for gas. “When he said that to me, I realized he must be struggling and I asked him and he said he lives in the Motel 6.”

“I couldn’t sleep all night thinking about what to do,” she said. “I couldn’t believe that a person in that situation would care to do something so nice when he doesn’t even have money for gas.” Juarez lost his job and was living in a motel with his wife, their three children, and another child they took in, so Del Valle started a GoFundMe to thank him for his good deed.

So far, the campaign has raised almost $18,000 and Juarez has received multiple job offers from people who were so impressed by his honesty and morals. “I reached out and told him what I had done,” Del Valle said. “His wife was in tears. Their kids are smiling for the first time in months. I told him you don’t need to thank me. I said this is my thank you for you doing the right thing.”

Owner Dumps 20-Year-Old Dog At Shelter For Being Too Old

For the past 20 years, one cocker spaniel has given all his love, affection, and loyalty to his California-based family.

That is exactly why he was so heartbroken when they suddenly and heartlessly abandoned him at a shelter. This past month, a woman walked into the Carson Animal Shelter with her 20-year-old dog named Sonoma. They had been together since Sonoma was just a puppy, yet the woman explained he had gotten ‘too old‘ and she no longer wanted him.

“She felt he was too old and she would come home to find him swimming in the pool because he is DEAF and BLIND!!!! He is completely confused about what is happening to him, it must be so scary,” the shelter wrote in a post to Facebook. Since Sonoma is so old, his chances of being adopted were very slim. But thankfully Frosted Faces Foundation, which rescues elderly dogs, heard his story and took him in.

“At any age, the only languages a dog will ever know are fierce loyalty and love,” said Kelly Smíšek, founder of Frosted Faces Foundation. “There is nothing one can say to explain to your dog all of the reasons you feel your decision of abandonment is justified, and that is why we operate Frosted Faces Foundation.”

Sonoma’s rescuers brought him to be examined, and aside from a few small issues, he was surprisingly in very good health. “He has some tiny hang-y masses and lots of skin tags, but we aren’t going to do anything too crazy,” Smíšek said. “The man did make it to 20 years old without being carved upon, so perhaps the only thing he requires beyond the treatment for his eyes and ears is a loving home!”

“Sonoma’s days will go on, his heart will heal, and we will be his advocates,” Smíšek said. “Where anger meets love, we act.” For now, Sonoma is getting lots of love and affection from his rescuers but is looking for his forever family who will stand by him for the rest of his days.

Rescuers Rescue Terrified Puppy Lost In Maze Of Pipes

Dogs are natural explorers, but one puppy’s curiosity almost got the best of him when he crawled into a drain pipe and accidentally got lost in a maze of pipes.

The 16-month-old pup, named Jet, had been out for a walk one evening with his owner Jamie Taylor when he got loose and ran into a nearby drain pipe. Taylor desperately called after his puppy to come back out, but he could hear Jet crawling further and further into the pipe, and knew he was going to need some professional help.

“He called our emergency line shortly before 2 a.m. but we knew we wouldn’t be able to help until daylight, so I went along first thing in the morning and called for the fire service’s assistance on my way,” said Joanne Hartley, an RSPCA inspector.

But when Hartley and the fire department arrived, they realized the problem was more complicated than they thought since the system of pipes spanned an area of three football fields.

“It was an absolute nightmare,” Hartley said. “The pipe was about 10 inches wide and is part of the old brickworks site, which is the size of around two or three football fields. We could hear Jet barking and whimpering, but we had no idea where he was located in the pipes.” They called the local water company and a construction company, and together they were able to send a camera down and tracked Jet down.

Photo by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

“The piping runs around four feet to six feet underground, so we had to dig around 10 trenches down to the pipe to see if we could reach him,” Hartley said. But after six long hours of digging, the crews finally rescued Jet and returned him to his worried family.

“Jet was really shaken at first, but now he’s back to his usual self,” Taylor said. “I’m really thankful to everyone who worked so hard to make sure Jet was freed.”

“All the agencies involved were willing to work as long as it took to free Jet and I’m so glad we were able to release him safe and sound,” Hartley said.

Firefighters Free Cat Who Got His Head Stuck In A Pipe

Firefighters are used to rescuing people and animals from hopeless situations, but a crew of Ohio firemen even doubted if they would be able to help a poor cat that got his head trapped inside a cement-encased pipe.

This past week, some locals from Dayton, Ohio heard what sounded like a desperate animal crying for help, so they went out searching for it since they feared it was injured. When they finally tracked down the source of all the noise, they discovered a stray orange cat that had been stuck for hours with his head stuck in a metal fencing pipe.

Photo by Humane Society of Greater Dayton

Together, rescuers from the Humane Society of Greater Dayton and the Dayton Fire Department tried to chip away at the cement, but their efforts were futile. “The pipe inside was far too thick to easily remove the scared cat. Our team sprang into action and gave the cat a sedative to keep it calm while they worked to save it from the pipe,” the rescuers explained.

The crew took a piece of the pipe and the cat back to the Dayton Fire Department’s Headquarters and got to work cutting away the thick, rusted metal. Even with the Jaws of Life and hack saws, it took two more hours for the rescuers to finally free the cat, who has since been named Piper.

Aside from some small injuries from trying to free himself, Piper was thankfully unharmed from the incident and is now resting at the Humane Society.

Dogs and cats are known for being sworn enemies, which is why people are so stunned by what one Idaho cat did to save her canine companion.

This past weekend, Michaella Franklin had plans to work around the house and yard, but her day took an unexpected turn when a neighbor’s large dog showed up in her garage as she was working. “It just kind of looked at me and I’m looking around like, where is the owner of this dog?” Franklin said. “Then it saw my dog and it ran into my garage, and my dog kind of hunkered down for safety and it just mauled her.”

“Then it saw my dog and it ran into my garage, and my dog kind of hunkered down for safety and it just mauled her.” Franklin tried to pull the vicious dog off her seven-year-old spaniel named Bailey, but the dog’s grasp on her own was too strong. “It seemed like it went on for ten or fifteen minutes,” Franklin said.

Thankfully, Franklin’s cat, Mocha, heard the attack and came to investigate. When he saw his best friend bloodied and battered, he didn’t hesitate to take on the aggressive dog. While Mocha had the dog distracted, Franklin was able to grab Bailey and rushed her to the vet.

“Bailey is alive today because of my cat, Mocha, without a doubt,” Franklin said. Thanks to Mocha’s selflessness and bravery, Bailey was able to get help in time and is now safely back at home recovering with her protector. “They’re like brother and sister.”

Cops Give Boy Toy Patrol Car After He Bought Them Lunch

One 5-year-old New Jersey boy has always admired the police for helping the community and has dreamed of the day he would be old enough to become an officer himself.

“From a very young age, [he] expressed his desire to one day be a police officer,” William Evertz Jr.’s grandmother Christine Haines said. But the little boy realized he didn’t have to wait until he was a cop to help people, and decided to do a few random acts of kindness including donating goods to the Safe Havens women’s shelter, giving $25 of his allowance to a less fortunate family, and even saving up his allowance for months to buy the police department lunch to thank them for everything they do.

“We greatly appreciated that,” Lieutenant Christ Dubler said. “We encourage him to give to the less fortunate and always share with others who are less fortunate,” Haines said about her grandson, who’s known as ‘Bubba’. “I’m so proud to be his grandmother.”

To repay Bubba for his kindness, the department bought a toy car from the store and had it customized with replica decals like the ones on their own patrol cars. “One of the things he wanted was a police car,” Lieutenant Dubler said. “We figured since he used his money for his acts of kindness throughout the area, we would in turn buy the police car for him.”

Dozens Survive Tornado That Destroyed The Church They Were In

This past weekend, several deadly tornadoes hit Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas leaving homes and buildings completely destroyed, and tragically killed at least 13 people.

The tornado came on suddenly in Emory, Texas on Saturday night, and about 45 people who had been attending a service honoring high school graduates at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church were forced to take shelter in a hallway of the church when they heard that the tornado was minutes away.

“About 30 seconds after we went into the hallway, it hit,” said Monica Hughes, a youth minister. Hughes and her husband fought to keep the double doors closed while the tornado ripped apart the church. “We could see the beams bending and the aluminum roof being ripped away,” she said. “Everybody dropped to the floor and protected one another. As soon as the worst was over, we began to sing to keep the kids calm.”

“Everyone was perfectly calm and felt like it was going to be OK,” said Hughes. But it wasn’t until EMS arrived two hours later and moved everyone because of a gas leak and broken power lines that they realized the full extent of the damage and how lucky they really were.

“Both ends of the building were blown out,” said Peyton Low, director of public affairs for the Diocese of Tyler. “People are using the term ‘miraculous‘.” Incredibly, not a single person in the church walked away with a scratch and a statue of Mary was left standing. “By the grace of God and the protection of Our Lady, no one was injured,” the diocese wrote on Facebook.

Inmates Make Amends By Training Service Dogs For Veterans

Service dogs can be life changing for military veterans struggling with various disabilities, but these incredible animals are also changing the lives of the people training them.

This past Friday, three future service dogs and their trainers completed the first round of training as part of the Doc’s Dogs for Vets program, which paired the rescue dog from Fresno Humane Animal Services with inmates from the Valley State Prison.

By the end of the program, veterans will be able to receive trained service dogs that will drastically improve their quality of life. “I went down a dark path. I became addicted to oxycodone and came to a point where I didn’t want to live anymore,” said John “J.C.” Cook, a Navy veteran who spoke at the ceremony about losing his leg and struggling with addiction before getting his service dog. “There’s so many things dogs can do for people. … Part of the reason I went down that path was because I didn’t have a purpose. This (Ivy) gives me a reason to wake up every day. I’m not alone.”

But the program also allows the inmate trainers to learn valuable skills, take responsibility for something in their lives, and help them make amends for their crimes.“I’m an ex-gang member, so when you’re on the streets you only care about yourself,” Jones said. “This taught me to care about something other than myself,” said Andrew Jones after six months of training and caring for his dog, Samson. “We’re hoping that Sierra is able to go and impact a veteran’s life and make life easier for him or her,” said Victor Trillo. “This is a way to give back to society for the wrong that I have done.”

Device Lets Man With ALS Tell His Wife ‘I Love You’

Being able to tell your loved ones ‘I love you’ is something many people take for granted every day, but one Oklahoma man knows how precious it is after a disease left him unable to communicate with his family for months.

Three years ago Carl Phelps started showing the first symptoms of ALS around the time his own sister died of the very same disease. “Everyone was speaking with ease except him,” his wife Janice said. “It was a real struggle getting words out, but he knew he had ALS.”

Shortly after, Phelps was diagnosed with the nervous system disease and he quickly started to lose physical abilities, had to get fitted for a feeding tube, and had to learn sign language when he lost his ability to speak. But when he started to lose control of his fingers and hands, he had no way to communicate with his friends and family.

However, that all changed when VisuALS, a program started by four students from Oklahoma Christian University, developed a program and an eye-tracking device that allows him to control a computer to ‘type’ and ‘speak’. And when the students finally finished the software and had Phelps try it out, he was able to say ‘I love you’ to his wife for the first time in months.

“I can’t tell you how great it felt to have your husband tell you that he loves you when he can’t even speak,” Janice said. “It was wonderful, I wanted to cry… It’s just been wonderful to be able to communicate with Carl. It just happened at the right time for us. It was a God thing.”

“I think we all got kind of emotional — I definitely teared up a bit,” said Preston Kemp, one of four students on the team. “For us, it was an engineering project, but Carl made it real for us. He was able to tell his wife he loved her again, and that was so incredibly powerful and impactful.”

Not many people would be able to turn away thousands of dollars in cash if they found it lying on the street, which is why one Massachusetts woman was devastated when she realized she lost $2,000 in cash after depositing checks for her boss.

Sometime after Guadalupe Alvarez stopped at the bank for her boss, she accidentally lost a bag that held $2,000 in cash as well as deposit slips from the bank. She thought she would never see the money again, and was stunned when the Arlington Police Department called and told her a six-year-old had found the cash and returned it all.

Photo by Facebook/Arlington, Massachusetts Police Department

“Erik imparted an extremely valuable lesson on his son,” Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan said. “It is hard to imagine the panic and fear that sets in when someone loses a large amount of money for their employer. Jasper and Erik did the right thing, and I commend their actions in returning the missing money.”

Photo by Facebook/Arlington, Massachusetts Police Department
Six-year-old Jasper had been walking with his dad Erik Dopman on April 18 when they discovered the money on the ground near a school. Rather than take it for themselves, the two immediately called the police to report it. For doing the right thing, the police department decided to award the dad and son with Outstanding Citizen Awards.

“This situation shows the very definition of good citizenship,” Chief Ryan said. “Jasper and his dad, Erik, demonstrated what it means to be part of a community by returning missing money to its rightful owner.”

When one Texas father heard that a deadly tornado was heading straight for his home, he immediately packed up his pickup truck with his two young children and headed for safety.

However, in his attempt to save them, he nearly lost baby Marshal and two-year-old Addy when he lost control of the vehicle and flipped off the road. “Life comes at you in a blink of an eye,” dad Phillip Ocheltree said. “Last night leaving our home trying to get away from what was yet to come we hydroplaned off the highway.

The Chevrolet pickup landed upside down and quickly started filling with the raging floodwater, but thankfully other drivers on the highway pulled over, waded into the water, and got to work rescuing the family. The strangers worked together breaking windows with a sledgehammer and trying to pry open the door. Eventually, a rescuer managed to pull the unconscious baby out and handed him to Tom Mitchell, who had been filming the rescue since he was too weak to enter the floodwater.

“The infant is white, going blue-ish grey,” Tom said of the terrifying moment the baby was handed to him. “No color at all and the eyes were not focused when I looked down at her. This baby is gonna die if we don’t start CPR fast. Having a negative feeling coming over me. This baby may not make it, this baby may not make it. No reaction, nothing is happening.”

As Tom started to fear it was too late, a woman stepped behind him and began to pray. “Dear Jesus, please let this baby breathe. Dear Jesus, please let this baby breathe,” she said. “Well the first prayer she said, I felt a response in that child,” Tom said.

Miraculously, the group was able to rescue and revive the two children before they were rushed to the hospital where doctors believe they will make full recoveries. “I can’t thank you all enough who came into the water and saved my children, you’re a blessing thank you all so much,” Ocheltree said in an update to his Facebook. “I think it shows how the community and strangers all come together,” Tom said.

After giving birth to a baby less than a year ago, one Canadian new mom knows all too well what it feels like to be pregnant, which is why stunned when she found out she was pregnant while going into labor.

Last week, Ashleigh Miller Cross had stopped at a local grocery store in Halifax to pick up some groceries. Yet as she wandered the aisles of the Atlantic Superstore, she suddenly started having labor pains. “I really had no idea,” Cross said. “I presumed I hadn’t lost any weight because I only had Mia ten months ago, so I mean I didn’t grow any extra so it’s just the same size. I didn’t have any cravings.”

Store employees rushed her into the store’s bathroom and delivered her healthy eight-pound baby boy named Ezra.  “She did tell me out of everything that went on, my face is the only face she recognizes out of everybody else that was there,” said Malcolm Comeau, the store’s assistant manager. “So I guess I made an impression like she made on me.”

“I especially want to thank the staff here, Malcolm and the lady who helped me in the bathroom straight away,” Cross said. A few days later, the cross family returned to thank the store’s employees in person but were met with yet another surprise. Since the family had no time to prepare for their new addition, the store generously gifted them with 52 weeks of free diapers.

Some family members had been in the backyard as the fire grew, and when 17-year-old LJ Gray realized his baby cousin was still inside, he didn’t hesitate to run into the burning home despite wearing only basketball shorts and sneakers. “My daddy called the fire department, and I got the baby, ran in front got the baby, and by the time I got the baby the back, it was like fire, so I just ran through the front,” Gray said.

“As a firefighter were trained with all of the protective equipment that we have, the bunker pants, the coats the hoods, gloves, to go into these fires and were trained to know our limits,” said Captain William Barss. “And this young man did it with even less than what an average person would be wearing on the street.”

Because of Gray’s bravery, the baby suffered no injuries from the flames or smoke and was recently honored by the Kinston Police Department for his heroism.

One New York mom of seven has been donating her hair to charity since she was just a teenager, but when a family friend’s son lost his fight to cancer, her caring sons decided to join in.

On the first anniversary of the boy’s death, Phoebe Kannisto’s three oldest sons cut off all their hair and donated it to a charity that makes wigs and donates them to children who have lost their hair from illness. Kannisto’s triplets were only three-years-old at the time, but they were so inspired by their older brothers, that they decided to grow their hair out as well.

“So we all decided we would donate together and we were just waiting for everybody’s hair to be long enough,” Kannisto said. So for the past few years, the family has been growing their hair out and just recently were able to cut off 17 feet of hair and donate it to Children With Hair Loss. “We are known for our long-haired boys and they do not have long hair anymore,” the proud mom said. “After the haircuts, they were all beaming with pride. It’s been four days and they’re still smiling.”

“I am so proud of my boys. They have been picked on and teased by everyone from their peers, to grown adults… but they didn’t let that stop them. They had a goal and stuck to it. They are such amazing role models to their little sister. She watched in awe,” Kannisto said. “She desperately wanted to hop up in the salon chair and have her hair donated but it was not long enough. So we’re going to keep growing out and hopefully next time all seven kids can do it together.”

‘Beast’ Steps In For Deployed Dad At Father-Daughter Dance

When one deployed dad found out he was going to miss his 5-year-old daughter’s first ever father-daughter dance, he was devastated but was determined to find the perfect person to fill in for him.

Christopher Nelson works as a contractor for the U.S. Army and has been deployed in Afghanistan since early March, and will be stationed there for the year. So when he and his wife Lanya Nelson heard that their 5-year-old daughter’s first father-daughter dance was being held while he was away, they knew they had to find a way to make it a good experience for her.

“We found out about the dance the very beginning of April. We live about 10 hours away from all family members, and I told her daddy wasn’t going to be able to come. He wouldn’t’ be home in time,” Lanya said about the moment she had to tell Gracee the news. “This was her first time being away from my husband for such a long period of time. She was so devastated. She bawled her eyes out. She’s such a daddy’s girl… It was heartbreaking for my husband too because this was his first dance he was going to miss of hers. And it was the big one -– the daddy-daughter dance.”

Other family members live hours away, so the Nelsons decided to have someone else step in for Christopher. “I was so close to getting a $400 plane ticket for her uncle. I didn’t want to break her heart,” Lanya said. “It was one of those moments you knew she was going to remember. I wanted it to be happy memory, not a sad memory. The theme of the dance was ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ And I’m like, ‘What if I contact the school and ask them if we can hire a character to take her?’ They thought it was such a wonderful idea.”

The Nelsons hired the Beast character from event company Magical Moments, and he surprised Gracee in the hallway outside of the dance. “Her face just lit up she was so happy. I have never seen my daughter that happy,” Lanya said.  “He escorted her into the dance and all the kids were like, ‘Oh my god!'”

“The Beast blew us away. He twirled her, he dipped her. He lifted her and was dancing with her,” said Lanya. “He was dancing with all the kids. All the kids got a chance to dance with him and take pictures. She was literally the Belle of the ball. She was just beside herself — The fact that the Beast took her.” And although Christopher couldn’t physically go to the dance, they FaceTimed with him so she could see his little girl all dressed up.

“We were able to make lemonade out of lemons with our situation and still make a girl smile even though her dad wasn’t there,” Lanya said.

Police officers dedicate their lives to helping their communities, so when one upstate New York cop stumbled upon a homeless man in need of a haircut and a hot shower, he was more than happy to help.

Officer Aaron Page was patrolling downtown Rome, New York when he spotted a homeless man who was ‘down on his luck’. Page started talking to the man named Bobby and learned that he desperately wanted to clean himself up with a warm shower and a haircut.

Page told Bobby to stop by the police station the next day, and when he arrived, Page and a few other officers gave Bobby a complete makeover. After a hot shower, the officers got Bobby new clean clothes and then got to work cutting his bushy, matted hair.

By the end of the haircut, Bobby was unrecognizable and as if the officers hadn’t helped enough, they gathered a bunch of donated clothes in his size and gave them to Bobby in a new duffel bag. “Bobby left looking like a whole new person and couldn’t thank us enough,” the police department wrote in a post to Facebook.
