In our world of technology, social media, and constant stimulation, it’s nice to be reminded that Mother Nature still reigns supreme, and the bi-annual migration of the golden ray does just that. The golden ray, otherwise known as the cow-nosed ray, is a species of stingray that migrates in packs (or ‘fevers’) of 10,000 twice a year between Western Florida and the Yucatan Peninsula.

The fevers of golden rays travel north in the late spring and then back south in late autumn.

Despite their delicate and harmless facade, their rays have poisonous stingers that can be lethal.

Golden Rays can grow up to 7 ft. across, and their razor-sharp stinger can grow to lengths of up to 15 in.

The ‘natural’ makeup look has been scene on all of the biggest runways around the world in recent seasons, yet despite it’s name, the look still requires some primping to make skin appear fresh and hide any imperfections. To show you just how much makeup it takes to achieve this look in one year, Dutch artist duo Lernert Engelberts and Sander Plug applied 365 layers of makeup on model Hannelore Knuts.

“We wanted to apply 365 layers of makeup in one day to see how much is needed to go from a natural look to an outrageous one,” the duo explained.

The entire process took nine non-stop hours to apply every layer on the Belgian model’s face.

Knuts sat fixed between the two white panels for the entirety of the shoot, and could only eat during breaks through a straw.

“We tested a 100-layer session a few days before on our intern, who is a man. We wanted to make sure that this amount of makeup wouldn’t kill a person. It didn’t kill our intern so we trusted everything would be fine on Hannelore.” Engelberts and Plug said.

This Image shows the shoot not even half-way through. The entire process took seven bottles of foundation, two bottles of eye makeup, three lip pens, and two bottles of blush. That’s 228.4 ml of makeup all together.

Did you know that there exists a golden ratio in relationships? And no, the key to happy companionship is not 1.6180339887…

John Gottman, a professor of psychology and marriage stability, has been studying couples for over 20 years. He’s conducted research that looks at why couples divorce and even studied the fighting habits of couples. After a few decades of studying psychology, Gottman came up with some ground-breaking research that most of us already knew by age 17: all couples fight.

Okay, well now that we got over that hurdle, here’s what you can do about it.

If you’ve ever found yourself having a negative interaction with your partner, rest assured, you are not alone here. Anybody that goes into a relationship expecting butterflies and roses everyday isn’t living in reality. (If you’d like to live in fantasy world, might I suggest introducing you to Tinderella?)

In fact, couples fight so frequently, there have been studies done about how healthy it is for you to fight with your significant other, and most researchers say it is. As long as fighting is done in a respectful way, acknowledging your complaints without harsh criticism, fighting can be productive. However, if you want a truly happy relationship, you need to be doing something else when you aren’t fighting.

Happy couples should have a “golden ratio” of 5:1.

According to Gottman and his research team, a happy couple will have a 5:1 ratio of positive to negative encounters. This means that for every time you say, “stop watching My Little Pony, get off your fat butt, and help me do the dishes,” you should have previously told them five times, “you make my heart swell to twice the size of a Jumbo plush pony.”

All couples fight, but not all couples love.

Think of every interaction with your partner as an investment. You deposit into the bank of love and look to cash out on a rainy day. So, when you’re constantly reminding your partner that they’re friendship is better than magic, you’re depositing into the bank.

Occasionally, a rainy day will come along and you’re going to have nothing to say to your partner but nasty words and complaints. On days like these, your relationship will feel stronger if you remember that you have all these positive interactions saved up in the love bank (not to be confused with the sperm bank, which is a savings account of a totally different kind).

Couples that have a large deposit of positive feelings work through fights better than couples that don’t because they have reassurance and confidence in themselves and each other. Keep this in mind next time you’re tempted to criticize your partner. And now I pose the question to you: what’s your ratio?

Ava and Bailey are two precious toddlers posted to Youtube by kentuckyann. These two children are learning the importance of love and it’s adorable. The toddlers go back and forth throughout the video giving each other smooches.

Sometimes you just need to watch a row of sleeping pug puppies to brighten your day. Really, it’s been proven by science.

Their wiggling tails, tiny paws, and soft round bellies are sure to leave a smile on your face.

The six adorable pug pups squirm and fidget their tiny paws as they sleep on a padded mat.

As if the scene couldn’t get any cuter, this cheeky pup adorably stuck its tongue out as it slept.

Whether at the hands of humans, or purely by accident, animals fall in harms way every single day. Luckily this dog, who had fallen into a pool of hot tar, was spotted by by a kind-hearted passerby who called Animal Aid Unlimited, a vital rescue center, hospital and sanctuary for injured and ill street animals in India.

Each day the animal rescue team finds, treats, and feeds dozens of injured or abandoned street animals in hopes of nursing these desperate animals back to health. In order to keep these animals from ending up in the same situation they were found in, the organization continues to provide life-long care for the animals that have no home.

This dog was found stuck to the ground. Once the hot tar dried, he was completely incapable of moving.

The passerby called Animal Aid Unlimited for help, and within the hour, the team arrived to start the lengthy process of removing the tar from his coat.

The team used vegetable oil to separate the tar from the dog’s fur.

After two days and three full oil scrubs, the tar was fully removed from the dog’s coat, and his joy was infectious.

This baby did not have such a good reaction when she met this gigantic dog for the first time.

Just look at that little peanut’s face- she looks so scared!

While baby’s often do make surprised faces for no reason, in this case, this adorable infant probably was genuinely scared.

I mean look at the size of that dog, and look at the size of her.

While we can hardly see the dog’s eyes from this picture, from this side view, he looks really happy and excited to meet her, and I can almost see his eyes smiling.

And her eyes say: “No! Slow down, your head is the size of my whole body! You can eat me alive, and I don’t want you to.”

This photo is just so absolutely adorable, and we hope that this little baby grows to love her family dog.

What started as a typical morning news show ended with a news anchor storming off set in an angry rant. John Brown, co-anchor of ‘Good Day Orlando’ on Fox 35, lost his cool when he, his co-anchor Amy Kaufeldt, and guest Jenny Castillo, radio host of Rumba 1003, began talking about the Kardashians.

Brown was fed up with all things Kardashian, which included news of Kylie Jenner’s new pet bunny named Bruce. As he left the set Brown could be heard saying “We’re talking about this family every freaking day! Nobody cares!”

The news anchor announced “I’m having a good Friday, so I refuse to talk about the Kardashians!”

The co-anchors were expected to talk about Kylie Jenner’s new pet bunny named Bruce.

If you’ve ever been told you have a dry sense of humor, you may question if your jokes are actually funny.

This is mainly because we associate dry with being bare or lacking.

Dry humor is known as English or British humor, which is different than American humor being that American humor shows more emotion. Dry humor is more sarcastic in nature, and less emotive.

In dry humor, the listener must look for humor in the contradiction between words, the delivery and the context to find the joke funny.

Some people really like a dry sense of humor, and others don’t understand it well.

“It’s a small world, but I wouldn’t want to paint it.”

This above joke was said by the famous Steven Wright who is a deadpan comedian (deadpan being another word for dry humor, or dry wit).

The movie Napoleon Dynamite is also very dry in nature or deadpan, as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm featuring the famous Larry David.

I’ve been told I have a dry sense of humor, which is what prompted me to write this article. I however believe my humor is more semi-dry than dry.

I personally love a dry sense of humor, and think it’s pretty cool.

1. Your humor is dark or sarcastic

2. You say funny things with a serious, calm expression

You keep a straight face at all times throughout your jokes. Your expressions are monotone, and sometimes you’ll give a smirk here and there. But for the most part you look mad, or depressed.

3. Your jokes are extremely clever

You leave people thinking “Wow, I would have never thought of that, but it’s so clever.”

4. There is no punchline needed to your jokes- you make the rules

People often fail to recognize your joke as a joke because there is no punchline. Meaning no exact point that you would think Aha, and then start laughing.

5. People often wonder if you’re joking or are serious

Because your jokes have no punchline, and often don’t sound like jokes, people will question whether you are serious or not.

6. You have people laughing at your joke minutes later

Once people realize or register to their brains what you just said, they will be laughing for minutes later..

Loud noises frighten even the biggest dogs, however, in the face of ‘danger’ this small dog was to be the perfect, cuddly protector for his newborn baby sister.

Despite its small stature, this dog proved to be a courageous protector, and only left the baby’s side when he sensed the situation was safe.

Sensing danger, this dog leapt to action to protect his newborn sister.

However, the ‘danger’ turned out to be a dog grooming blow dryer.

The minute the blow dryer was turned off, the dog felt it was safe enough to leave the baby’s side.

Yet the minute the doggie blow dryer was turned back on…

this courageous dog was back at his sister’s side.

An 18-year-old Taylor Swift fan and domino genius gave her an amazing tribute, illustrating her success and albums through the years.

Brian Amici has a Youtube page that shows how skilled he is at making a mess of things. He has quite literally turned it into an art. That’s because Brian sets things up to knock them down by using everyone’s favorite childhood toy: dominoes.

Brian didn’t expect the video to gain that many views, but it has begun to go viral with 200,000 views and the video is growing.

Even Taylor Swift tweeted about Brian’s incredible skills:

Words can’t really describe it. I feel incredibly honored that she not only acknowledged my video, but was also flattered by it.

These pigs named Boris and Pumba have a very important job…

They provide Alzheimer’s patients in Colorado with love, affection, and a dose of surprise.

The pigs’ owner named Erin Brinkley-Burgardt brings the pigs to Highline Place in Littleton, Colorado to work with the seniors there.

At first, many residents were skeptical of the animals, but the skepticism quickly grew into love.

Erin says:

Boris and Pumba make their way around the halls of Highline Place in a little green wagon, and it just takes the first person to warm up- then everyone else is like oh ok! I’ll try it!

And because of the nature of Alzheimer’s disease, the pigs are a constant and delightful surprise.

The residents won’t always remember the pigs, so it’s really like a new experience every week- it’s a different experience every week- which is great! Erin says

Therapy animals are a godsend for patients suffering from all sorts of dementia which includes Alzheimer’s.

Some studies even show that having an animal around can significantly decrease anxiety in dementia patients and help regain their desire to socialize.

While it is not as common to have pigs as therapy animals, why not have them when they bring such joy to the faces of these patients.

In our lifetime we are inundated with messages that tell us how we should look, how we should act, and what we should like. Today, we are exposed to about 5,000 advertisements a day, so it’s no surprise that people around the world feel pressure to be perfect. According to research done by the Centre for Appearance Research, a research center based at the University of the West of England in Bristol, as much as 60 percent of adults report being ashamed of their bodies, and 70 percent of women report that they have felt pressure from television and magazines to have a ‘perfect’ body.

In order to raise awareness for eating disorders, self-esteem issues, and remind people to be more self-accepting, Jae West decided to stand on a street corner in nothing but her underwear and let people draw hearts on her skin.

“Just the thought of looking down at my body and seeing it covered in love hearts from other people brought tears to my eyes. It was a reality check of how harsh we can be on ourselves, we really can be our own worst critics. The unrealistic expectations we place on ourselves can cause us to reject the love that others openly give because of a feeling of unworthiness. I knew this was a global concept that many people could relate to, so putting myself in that situation really was a stand for everyone out there that has been confronted with self-doubt in relation to the way they look,” West said.

Jae West stands in the streets of Piccadilly Circus, and begins to undress.

Onlookers are confused and curious, as West stands in nothing but her underwear on the street corner.

As she stood blindfolded, West was completely vulnerable and was afraid that she would offend the people around her.

“I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or self-esteem issue like me… To support self-acceptance draw a ‘♥’ on my body.”

“All of a sudden I felt one of the pens in my left hand slip out of my grasp. The feeling of the felt pen was on my skin was one of the most overwhelming feelings of relief, gratitude and love that I’ve ever felt. I just burst into tears. I don’t know who that first person was but I am so thankful for their contribution,” West explained.

Even the police were supportive of West’s cause, and hugged her after the experiment.

Is the manliest world leader watching over New York City with a flock of birds? Probably not. However, a strange flock of undulating birds appeared on the internet recently, and people are saying the image looks oddly like Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to CBC News, Sheryl Gilbert caught the above video of birds moving across the sky, while she was crossing the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn. Gregory West, who appears to be Gilbert’s husband, tweeted the video and asked people, “Can you see the face? Who is it?”

Yes, that’s right! Grumpy Cat is not the only internet sensation that’s in a foul mood. There’s a grumpy old baby making his way around the web thanks to Youtuber Miguel Félix Gut posting his adorable frown.

And there is nothing that will make this grumpy old baby turn that frown upside down. He’s one sourpuss that is perfectly content staying that way. Hasn’t anybody ever told him it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile?

We here at Life Daily can’t confirm why the grumpy old baby is so sour, but we have a few ideas:

He’s frustrated by the youths that trample his lawn.

He can’t understand the young people and their man buns.

He’s Bill O’Rielly attempting to understand social media.

Just when we think we’ve know everything there is to know about the royal family, more stories and pictures are revealed. Thirty-four years after Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ wedding, one of the most-watched events in history, new unseen images from their 1981 wedding have been released to the public, and are set to be sold at auction.

The behind the scenes collection, which was taken at Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ wedding reception at Buckingham Palace, features 12 original unpublished photographs that belonged to the assistant to photographer Patrick Lichfield.

The photos show Princess Diana at various points on her wedding day, as well as members of the wedding party, which include Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Princess Ann, Princess Margaret, and Prince Andrew.

The collection will be auctioned off by PR Auction  on September 17, and the minimum bid has been set at $300, however the pre-auction estimate sale price is between $1,000 and $2,000. The selling price may even go for much higher, as one rare photo of Princess Diana as a teenager sold for about $18,000.

Released today, the Old Farmer’s Almanac shares their predicted weather forecast for Winter 2016, and it’s not looking too pretty.

Well maybe it’ll look pretty, but might not feel too pretty.

The 2016 almanac predicts that the U.S. should prepare for extremely cold temperatures and lots of snow this winter.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has been in use since 1792, and remains about 80% accurate year after year.

They are the one of the oldest and most popular reference guides in the U.S., and their secret forecasting formula is even locked in a black box in Dublin, New Hampshire.

The founder of the Almanac,  Robert B. Thomas devised the formula and believes that the weather on Earth is influenced by sun sports which are magnetic storms on the surface of the sun.

“We employ three scientific disciplines to make our long-range predictions: solar science, the study of sunspots and other solar activity; climatology, the study of prevailing weather patterns; and meteorology, the study of the atmosphere. We predict weather trends and events by comparing solar patterns and historical weather conditions with current solar activity.”- The Old Farmer’s Almanac

And for winter 2016, the Almanac predicts below-normal temperatures for the Northeast, above-average snowfall for the South, less snowfall but below-normal temperatures for the Midwest, and the Pacific Northwest can expect their biggest snowfall in mid-December, early to mid-January and mid-to-late February.

I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear when we are still mid-to-late August, but we have to be prepared.

Even if that means booking our winter vacation in advance…
