For 21 years, Ana Julia Torres has rescued hundreds of animals from uncaring owners and looks after them at her shelter Villa Lorena, in Columbia.

Ana Julia Torres is the owner of the 12-year-old shelter that rescues sick and mistreated animals from all over Colombia.

All of Torres’ animals have one thing in common- they’ve been abused. 

Most come from drug kingpins and death-squad commanders, who have used animals like jaguars and tigers as mascots. With many these men have been extradited to the U.S., the animals have wound up at Villa Lorena. 

Torres says, “This is not a zoo,” she says. “It’s a refuge, an old-age home; a hospital. [It’s] a place where we love, protect, defend and respect animals.”

She has over 800 animals at the Villa Lorena, but none of them as special to her as Jupiter the African lion is. 

Jupiter used to be a circus performer until Torres rescued him 15 years ago. 

The bond between them is unbelievable and Torres treats Jupiter like a baby. 

He may be large, powerful and ferocious, but he’s a pussy cat with Torres, and hugs and kisses her through the bars of his cage.

This panda is the perfect analogy for some people’s complicated love lifes.

Have you ever gone out with somebody who just doesn’t get it when you tell them you aren’t interested? As much as you try to let them down easily and prevent yourself from hurting their feelings, they still don’t understand what you’re trying to say.

This panda chasing a zookeeper might be the prefect analogy for those of us who have been textually harassed.

We don’t know why these pandas are clingy (maybe they’re just filled with love), but it’s adorable to watch their feeble attempts to get the zookeepers attention. Even more adorable than their codependent love is the zookeepers.

They often dress up as pandas themselves, wearing everything from a panda face to a full body-costume covered in panda feces and urine (and you thought your job was bad). They do this to keep the pandas from becoming adjusted to humans as well as to prevent them from being startled.

Personally, if a panda came into my room in the middle of the night wearing a human head covered in the same excretions, I’d be pretty frightened. I must be alone on this one, though, because it seems these pandas LOVE their zookeepers.

He would be a vicious killing machine if he wasn’t so darn cute.

Panda, the panther, is a ferocious beast…in theory. His ancestors and his cousins are ferocious, but this little guy is a rescue who eats from a kibble bowl, just like a dog would.

Well, maybe not exactly like a dog:

Panthers and lions, just like Panda, are increasingly being adopted by rescue organizations who nurture them when their mothers have abandoned the cubs or been killed by hunters.

In this case, Panda is being taught by his err…adopted mother to pounce just as he would in the wild. We assume somewhere out there on panther Facebook, there’s a bunch of mother panthers sharing this video with their own panther friends and cooing over the adorableness (just like you’re going to share this article with your friends as soon as you finish reading it, right?)

Panda has not yet mastered the art of of the spring. He’s getting better, but Panda still needs to learn the way of the leap. All in due time, young one. In the meantime, be jealous of the lucky soul who gets to call this guy his pet.

This is the equivalent of a trust fall in the panther world:

Parents will do just about anything to make sure the holiday season is full of magic for their children, but these parents took that dedication to the next level while ensuring their children have a joyful holiday season.

Joe and Megan Wynberg, from Moncton, New Brunswick, were inspired to do a human Elf on the Shelf series after they noticed friends posting funny pictures of their tiny elves around their homes. Since the very first night Joe put on the elf costume and posed atop the refrigerator, the couple promised to post the elf in hysterical locations, and they haven’t disappointed.

By day, Joe Wynberg is a normal husband and dad of four adorable children, but by night, Joe turns into FLE (pronounced ‘flee’), a troublemaking Elf on the Shelf.

“Well, day one, and I am not sure about this “Elf on the Shelf” thing. FLE ate the kids advent calendars, they will be devastated,” wife Megan wrote in a post to her Facebook.

“FLE is out of control! I need to find my receipt. Couldn’t handle those advent calendars he ate last night. Today is the second after all!”

As if FLE’s wasn’t already on the naughty list, he made snow angels out of flour, and peed in the ‘snow.’

“Because picking up after four kids isn’t enough! FLE was pretty exited about the first snowfall of the year and I’m pretty sure he pee’d on the floor. I’m getting rid of this thing!”

After admitting that she wasn’t cut out for looking after the naughty elf, Megan decided to put an end to the madness, and people were devastated.

But just because FLE was kicked out of the house, didn’t mean he was banned from running free and making some trouble outside. “Awe! For pete’s sake! I knew it was too good to be true,” Megan wrote.

After pulling this stunt, Megan finally decided to let FLE back into the house. “So FLE has been trying to get in the house all day. Then I found him doing this. I may have to bring him back in before the neighbours call the cops.”

“So we got our tree up and decorated with the kids today. And then FLE tried to get in the tree like his other “Elf on the Shelf” buddies.”

Megan enlisted the help of some powerful superheroes to tame the wild elf. “I brought in re-enforcement to get FLE the “Elf on the Shelf” under control.”

In their most recent post, FLE managed to break free. “I think FLE is pretty upset about last night and is seeking revenge against those responsible for duck taping him to the wall.”

Do you ever have one of those days?

You can’t quite place a finger on it, but they are the days that drag for no reason at all. You refill your coffee cup three more times than usual and the meetings seem endless.

Well, the solution for such a problem is quite simple. Invest in getting a few Powerpoint Pets to make the office a better (and smellier!) place.

This bunch, for example, didn’t want to sit through YET another Powerpoint presentation. Rather than putting themselves through that agony yet again, they decided instead to simply frolic through the plastic slides (the things they used on an overhead projector before the internet was created by God).

Rather than looking at the slide, they simply made a slimp-n-slide. These cats have the right idea in mind. They rolled around on the floor for a while and took a well-deserved break from their full-time job of being absolutely adorable.

The Youtube user, ruppie213, a gem who brought us this wonderful piece of art, tells us that she was actually cleaning out some old slides. The office was preparing to throw them away and then the cats got their grimy paws on those things.

The only remaining question now is where did this office get those adorable kittens?

Now get back to work, kitties!

For soldiers, the military dogs they work and train with form an incredible bond that goes beyond the battlefield. When Andrew Brown, a Fort Hood Soldier, and his canine companion named Rocky were injured in an IED blast, not even the medical staff could separate these two as they fought to get better.

“One of our Military Working Dogs, Rocky, and his handler were injured this week during operations in Afghanistan,” the 89th Military Police Brigade wrote to their Facebook page. “Rocky and his handler are staying in the same room right now as they are receiving treatment for their injuries. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover during the holiday season.”

Rocky was seen recuperating under a cozy blanket, and was wearing a purple heart medal that he received for his brave service.

A few days later, the page posted an update showing the two soldiers doing well after spending some time at the hospital together.

“SPC Brown and Rocky are both doing well after being treated for injuries they suffered from an IED blast earlier this week while searching a structure in support of ongoing operations in Afghanistan,” the brigade wrote in the update. “They are both very thankful for your thoughts and prayers and are in the process of heading back home.”

“Please remember them, as well as all our Soldiers deployed around the world, during the holiday season. Proven in Battle!” the military police brigade wrote as they concluded their post.

Meet 6-month-old Sienna and her equally adorable new brother, a chubby English bulldog baby.

The video, which was posted on YouTube channel suburbanbullies , a specialty bulldog breeder located outside of Dallas, TX, features the little ones having an undeniably cute encounter.

Sienna’s father Scott Lathrop, one of the Suburban Bullies breeders, told Good Morning America his young daughter is comfortable around the bulldog puppies, as she’s been exposed to them since she was born.

“Sometimes she’ll get a little bent out of shape when they’re licking on her face,” Lathrop said. “But they’re pretty cuddly and affectionate to be around so she doesn’t seem to mind.”

Getting licked by pups is definitely something I wouldn’t mind either, but in the Lathrop’s Portales, N.M. home, it’s just a normal part of the day.

The 31-year-old breeder said his baby girl and her two older brothers “don’t really know how lucky how they are to have all these cute puppies in the house.”

Doris Lee Davis Pritchett was a dancer with the United Service Organizations (USO) in the 1940’s, but at the age of 89, she’s still practicing her plies. 

Even though decades have passed, Doris still believes that “Once a dancer, always a dancer.”

Although she is now recovering in a rehabilitation facility, it has not stopped Doris from turning the hand rail at the hospital into a ‘ballet barre.’

Pritchett says, “An inconvenience rightly looked upon becomes an adventure!”

And her advice is advice we should trust- she’s even written a book about her life experiences, entitled Life On A Magic Carpet.

Now, you might think that a puppy would sleep just about anywhere, from a cardboard box to your own mattress. However, Chunk clearly enjoys being spoiled and realizes right away that he’s been blessed with the comfiest spot imaginable.

It seems like the only two groups of people who truly get what life is all about are the young and the elderly, as everyone in between is too caught up with things that don’t actually matter. So when they sat a 7-year-old and a 64-year-old down to talk, the two came up with some incredible answers for how life should be lived.

In the video, ’57 Years Apart’, a young boy and an older man sit down together to ask each other questions about the challenges of life and love. The questions might be pretty straight forward, but they both come up with some heartfelt answers for living a good life.

After getting to know each other, the old man had some advice for the boy as he grows up. “You don’t have to be rich to be happy. Do the things you like doing that make you feel good. Because when you’re happy yourself, everybody else is happy.”

And when it was the boy’s turn to give the old man advice, he told him to just be yourself, never bring other people down, and always give a friend a hug when they need it, even if it won’t fix everything.

The Martins of Detroit, MI are the perfect example of a military family missing their loved one, believing youngest son Marine Pvt. Shane Martin would be far away on Christmas day.

The family believed they were being interviewed by local news station WXYZ about missing Shane during the holidays and they couldn’t be any prouder of their soldier, sporting their Marines gear for the segment.

Then, when Shane’s parents start talking to the interviewer, his mom instantly breaks down and breaks our hearts, describing their first Christmas without Shane.

“It’s very hard to describe, like a piece of us is missing. We are usually all together for the holidays, so this one is going to be very difficult” mom Toni Martin tells WXYZ in the video below.

Seeing a baby Francois’ Langur monkey might be hard to do since they’re one of the rarest breeds in the world. But once you do see one, like this precious newborn, it’s pretty hard to forget, as they’re born with bright orange hair.

Thanks to his bright orange fur, the zoo keepers at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo spotted this little guy in his mother’s arm shortly after he was born in early November. Since his hair is such a bright orange, the zoo decided to name the precious baby Nangua, which is the Mandarin word for pumpkin.

While Nangua is still a little wobbly on his legs, the zoo explained that “the adults are starting to let him climb off them briefly, which shows they’re happy with his progress.”

Francois’ Langur monkeys are born with bright orange hair, as it is said to help parents keep track of their babies in the wild. However, as they grow older, the hair turns black.

Nangua tries to copy mom, and eat some of the tasty leaves, but couldn’t fit the snack in his tiny mouth.

This 5-week-old cub was born at the Columbus Zoo in Powell on November 6 to a polar bear named Aurora. 

The adorable baby was under her mother’s care in the den until staff decided to raise the cub themselves. 

“Nearly a week after the cub’s birth, Aurora began to take breaks from caring for the cub. When these breaks continued and became more and more frequent, the Zoo’s Animal Care staff made the decision to remove the cub from the den and began to hand-rear the newborn,” said Jennifer Wilson from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. 

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium posted on their Facebook saying:

“At 5 weeks old, the polar bear cub is doing very well; she weighs a little over 4 pounds and measures 16 inches long!”

“Both eyes have started to open as of yesterday, but they are not fully open yet.”

“The care staff says the sound that she makes in the video is of contentment.”

“Her motor skills are improving each day and she has started trying to stand up on all fours, especially when she’s ready for her next meal!”

“She is on six feedings a day, every four hours. The team has been evaluating her daily needs and provides care 24/7.”

It is a truly precious moment when a newborn and a dog meet for the first time.

So, when it was time to introduce baby Quinn to Noah the Chiweenie– a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix, the family waited patiently to see how the two would interact. 

It turns out, Noah did an amazing thing- he lay on his back squirming around, almost acting like a little baby!

We’re not sure if it was to show his playful side to Quinn, or if he was just being cute, but regardless, it was a very sweet moment.

Dogs use howling as a form of communication and as a way to attract attention, but this hysterical dog is using her howling abilities to voice her disapproval after being left alone.

In the video, a puggle named Sophie lies in her human’s lap while he gently rubs her belly. However, instead of lapping up the attention, Sophie uses the time to let her owner know just how annoyed she is.

Despite blissfully laying in her owner’s lap, Sophie couldn’t contain her heartbreaking howls.

Judging by her human’s suit and tie, Sophie was just airing her frustration at being left all alone while her owner was out having fun.

Angel arrived at her sales associate job at Modell’s Sporting Goods, thinking it was just another day. 

When she arrived, Angel was asked to train a new associate, but she was unaware that the new associate was actually Mitchell Modell, the CEO of Modell’s. 

Angel was convinced she was being filmed as part of a documentary, but little did she know she was actually being filmed for the CBS show Undercover Boss. 

The point of the show is for some of the biggest CEOs in the country to go undercover and see what working for their company is really like. They want to understand how their employees are treated and if they are happy at their jobs. 

This was exactly the intent for the CEO of Modell’s acting as a new employee and Angel training him. 

As the two got to know each other, it became clear to Mr. Modell that Angel was a very valuable employee. Not only was she knowledgeable about the product but she cared deeply about customer service and about the company as a whole. 

This is exactly the type of employee anyone would want, and when Mr. Modell learned Angel was homeless, he was moved to tears. 

“We’ve been homeless for a long time. We live in a shelter now,” the single mother says. “It doesn’t matter, though. I don’t want you to feel sad for me.”

Angel had so much fight in her, yet she wasn’t looking for pity or for anyone to feel bad for her. 

Mitchell Modell said, “I have never experienced a moment like this. Knowing what she’s going to be going home to, it literally broke my heart.”

“People like Angel deserve better. And I know myself and this company can do better,” he continues.

So Mr. Modell made a decision to help Angel, and when he surprises her, she is brought to the floor with emotion.

When word got out about Safyre Terry, the little girl who was the sole survivor of a fire that killed her entire family and left over 75% of her body covered in burns, her story went viral. Two years and over 50 surgeries later, the little girl warmed the hearts of millions when people found out the one item on her Christmas list was to receive cards from people around the world.

Safyre’s aunt, Liz Dolder, warned the 7-year-old that she might not get that many cards in the mail. Yet just yesterday, the family received the latest delivery, which had 185,000 cards and over 4,000 packages. In total, the family has received more than 300,000 letters and is still in shock over everyone’s generosity and kindness.

“I really think I am dehydrated from crying so much… This is absolutely amazing, it takes my breath away. We, my family and I have been through so much darkness of this world. Then to see the most powerful BEAUTY of the world. The world coming together to make Safyre’s wish come true is unfathomable. All along we knew God saved her for a reason, never in ours wild dreams, did we think she would move the hearts of many worldwide,” Liz Dolder wrote in a post to the Safyre Schenectady’s Super Survivor Facebook page.

“Joy, Joy, Joy. Safyre is having a blast. God Bless You for making her feel so amazing,” Liz wrote.

Safyre got the cards she asked for, but Baking Memories 4 Kids, a non-profit organization that uses the profits from the cookies they sell to send children with life-threatening illnesses on free vacations with their families, felt they could do even more to make this Christmas even more memorable.
