Pit bulls have a bad reputation for being aggressive animals, however, even ones that suffered from abuse can become incredibly gentle and nurturing when shown some love.

Nine-year-old Alfie was a victim of animal cruelty and four-year-old Frankie was found covered in sores. Yet today, their owner Sherry Stewart knows that underneath their tough demeanor’s, they’re big softies that love to cuddle and nurture other animals.

So when Sherry and her 14-year-old daughter Annie started making a habit out of bringing home and caring for ‘quirky’ cats and dogs who had challenging starts, she knew her pit bulls would be a great help.

Recently, Sherry took in a blind cat names Helen and two blind kittens who bonded instantly with Frankie and Alfie. Despite their obvious differences, the animals love cuddling with each other, and Frankie has even stepped in as the kittens’ ‘mother’.

“I think he sensed that they needed a little TLC,” Stewart said.

Nemo is a 14-year-old female orangutan who resides at the Nakhonratchasimo Zoo in Thailand. 

According to the Zoo’s facebook page, during the day Nemo plays outside in a big yard with rope, trees and a pond, and at night she sleeps in a cage for safety reasons.

In the incredible video below, this orangutan is seen taking a blanket in her cage and turning it into a hammock so she could sleep!

We’re not sure if Nemo does this every night, but it is extremely resourceful of her, as it probably is not very comfortable to sleep on the concrete floor.

While we wish all animals were able to live in their natural habitat, if they are not able to, we would hope that the zoo would provide them with as much of a natural habitat as possible.

As a kid, getting a visit from the tooth fairy is a magical experience, which is why it’s no surprise this little boy named Cayden went to extreme measures to pull out his first loose tooth.

In the video, Cayden enlists the help of his dad and his trusty bow and arrow to creatively yank his first loose baby tooth out of his mouth so that he could finally get a visit from the tooth fairy.

Cayden is a brave little boy and definitely deserves a bonus from the tooth fairy for this move! Watch him fearlessly fire an arrow from his bow and arrow set, with his tooth tied to a string and attached to the arrow. They still can’t find the tooth!

After tying a string around his loose tooth and attaching it to an arrow, Cayden fearlessly let go of the bowstring.

Not only did Cayden hit the mark, but his tooth came flying out painlessly. While the tooth removal went off without a hitch, the father and son duo couldn’t manage to find the tooth after it landed somewhere in the grass.

Meeting your new sibling for the first time is a monumental event.

Some children go absolutely crazy over their new baby brother or sister, and others are not too happy that another member will be joining the family.

This new big brother, however, was over the moon excited to meet and hold his baby sister!

When his mother brought over the new bundle of joy and placed her into his arms, he smiled from ear-to-ear and gave the baby a sweet kiss on the forehead.

Then, he started to examine her. He began pointing out various parts of her body including her belly, legs and feet. But it didn’t end there, because when he asked THIS question to his mother, we were rolling on the floor laughing!

Dogs might be experts at playing fetch, rolling over, and begging for scraps, but these two four-legged pals can now add modelling to their list of talents.

These two black and white dogs named Envy and Zain make this dog photographer’s job easy as they skillfully pose together during a doggie photo shoot like the natural models they are. In the video, these dogs repeatedly pounce and hug each other while the photographer snaps away, and fail to take even one bad photo.

Sierra is only one year old, but she is already a master negotiator.

When mom catches her wide awake during nap time, Sierra goes through many emotions from  surprise to denial, and everything in between. 

When her mother says, “Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?” the little girl responds with “Ohhhh.” Mom then asks, “Did you forget?” and Sierra replies, “Yea!” while adorably clapping her hands. 

But when mom suggests Sierra go to sleep right now, and says “Goodnight,” Sierra gently rests her head on the side of the crib, instead of on her pillow! 

This family has one smart 1-year-old on their hands, and she is also cutest negotiator we’ve ever met.

Here’s all the proof you need that dogs are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for…

Police officers in Orange, Massachusetts said they got a whole lot more than they bargained for when they responded to a routine house call for a woman sufferring from a medical condition who needed transportation to the hospital.

In the Facebook post, which has quickly been going viral, gaining thousands of likes and shares overnight, the Orange Ma Police Department explains a series of events that can only be described as a storyline straight out of Lassie.

Yet, in this story, little Timmy is nowhere to be found. Instead, when the officers arrived at the woman’s home, they found her two terrier mix dogs, who quickly took off running down the road. The kindhearted officers tried to catch up with the sick woman’s dogs, but they were long gone.

They contacted animal control and moved along, but one officer decided to look around the neighborhood for the lost pets and was shocked to find one the dogs barking to get his attention.

“The dog insisted that the officer follow him through a field to an embankment. Officer Bisceglia saw that the second dog had slid on the ice, approximately 30 feet down to the bottom, and was wedged in some overgrowth.” Orange Ma Police Department wrote.

Firefighters quickly came to the rescue and pulled the dog out of the snowy mess. Both were then taken to a local veterinarian, where they were deemed healthy.

The police officers ended the incredible story saying “Apparently, any dog in the right circumstance can turn into “Lassie”!”

For a child, there are many firsts.. 

The first time they learn to speak, crawl, walk, and of course the first time they see automatic doors!

This adorable toddler was beyond amazed when he saw automatic doors open up as he neared them in the grocery store. Azrael’s father Abraham Vargas wrote on YouTube, “Took our son to the grocery store and let him walk around for the first time, he was blown away by the automatic doors.”

The video below shows 21-month-old Azrael staring at the doors sliding open and shutting on their own. His mouth says it all, as it hangs open in amazement. 

The toddler even shrieks as he runs to an adjacent set of doors, only to find that they do the same thing!

Azrael’s parents told Today.com that this was the first time he was allowed to walk around the supermarket on his own, and boy did he enjoy himself.

Injured, neglected, or abused animals may seem beyond repair, but even animals that suffer incredible trauma can transform with a little love and care.

This 5-year-old tan colored mutt named Scooter was found dragging herself around the streets of Thailand by a local rescue organization with no back legs, inflamed sores covering her lower body, and a broken spine. However upon arriving in the United States to live with her adopted mom, Willow Sullivan who saves unwanted animals, Scooter has begun her miraculous recovery.

At first, Scooter was terrified and acted aggressively towards Sullivan and her new doctors. “She was very hard to handle, she didn’t trust people— you could tell she had had a really tough life,” said Dr. Chris Frye. After being showered with love, and receiving necessary medical treatment, Scooter became a totally different dog.

Not only is she now happy and affectionate, but her doctors fitted her with wheels so she could also regain her freedom. “At first she just stood there and stood there. Then she took three steps back,” Sullivan told ABC News. “I called for her, and all of a sudden she walked toward me. Then she wanted out of the exam room. She walked out of the hospital and to the lawn. She strutted like she had been walking forever.”

Jett is an 18-month-old boy from Oklahoma, who just happens to enjoy being scared by his grandpa. 

Jett’s aunt Harli White says Jett loves to be chased by grandpa and has loved it ever since he was old enough to walk.

But during this particular playtime, grandpa decided to surprise Jett by pretending to be a lion!

Harley called adorable Jett into the room, and once he heard his name he came running. But, once Jett reaches his aunt, grandpa lets out a roar that sends the boy running back down the hall. His face said it all, as it looked like Jett was scared for his life. 

But aunt Harli assures us that Jett loves it, and he always starts laughing afterwards.

Talk about a heart-pounding day on the job!

When you have a high-intensity career like a paramedic, where any mistake could put people’s lives at risk, it’s no secret that you need to constantly be aware of your surroundings.

However, there are always times when you just can’t ever see what’s coming next. Luckily for her loving boyfriend, Emily McKenzie learned this the hard way.

When she arrives on the scene, McKenzie is immediately thrust into the action and prepares to try and revive the man on the ground.

The dedicated paramedic is so focused on the task at hand, she doesn’t even realize at first that her firefighter boyfriend is one of the first responders… and that the man in trouble is really just a medical dummy.

Firefighter Nik Raw then dropped to one knee and gave the love of his life a surprise she never saw coming at the end of a long shift.

The fiancés were then lucky enought to celebrate their engagement in the best way possible – surrounded by family, friends, and tons of good energy.

As any dog owner would know, dogs can chew through almost anything they can get their mouth on, however, this particular husky bit off a little more than he could chew.

This troublemaking Siberian Husky was bored and decided the best way to pass the time was to burrow through an entire couch. Despite making it all the way through to the other side, his head got stuck at the very end, and had to wait until his owner finally got home to get out.

At first, this woman couldn’t figure out where the dog had gone, but after close inspections, she realized the couch had been burrowed into. However, the culprit didn’t get very far…

The guilty husky burrowed through the sofa and got his head stuck, and couldn’t bare to look at his owner in the eye once she found him.

Just call them nature’s version of a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.

They’re two star-crossed lovers separated by different worlds and a screen door – and it’s not hard to see why their video is going viral. If you’ve ever fallen for someone you know you can’t be with, the following video from bill16504 (aka our story’s villain) is guaranteed to hit you with all the feels.

In it, we meet Pep, Bill’s domesticated pet bunny who loves to hang out by the door, and assumingly dream about the world outside it.

On this particular sunny day during mating season, a wild rabbit, who we assume longs for a life indoors, notices Pep staring out like a princess locked in a tower and the rest, as they say, is history.

At first, we see Pep playing the coy, privileged bunny, completely disinterested in the wild animal.

However, she quickly comes around and admits she too has feelings for the vagabond rabbit.

Sadly, Bill knows better than to let Pep’s Prince Charming inside his home, since he’ll undoubtedly end up with way more bunnies than he bargained for, and the rabbits are forced to love one another from afar.

Never has the game of peekaboo gone from heartwarming to terrible in such a short amount of time. 

It was all fun and games when daddy and his 19-month-old daughter Brenna were enjoying a game of peekaboo, until daddy gave Brenna a surprise she was not expecting. 

For months, dad, Bradley Bailey had been growing out his beard, despite his wife telling him he wouldn’t be able to do it because it would be too itchy for him. Bradley was determined to prove her wrong, so he let it grow a little too long. 

When it came time to cut it, Bradley’s 4-year-old son said he wanted to help shave the beard because he never saw daddy without facial hair before. So, they removed the hair and now it was time to show Brenna that daddy had no more beard.

Brenna almost didn’t recognize her dad and when she saw him she burst into tears.

Dad says, “Her reaction was a bit more extreme than either of us expected, but she got over it after a few hours and playing many Patty cakes with her.”

The Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA welcomed the newborn Western lowland gorilla to mother Nadiri on November 19. On the Woodland Park blog, we learn “She’s looking great, doing well, and with a healthy appetite, she now weighs in at 7 pounds.”

Dogs may have taken the spotlight for being man’s best friend, but this little girl is proving that companionship comes in all shapes and sizes.

Since the Brown family brought the little duckling they later named Snowflake home, Kylie and the fluffy little bird bonded instantly. “It was kind of on a whim that we brought him home,” Ashley Brown, Kylie’s mother said. “I thought, ‘It’s a farm animal. It lives outside. Maybe we’ll get some eggs from it?’ I was not expecting this.”

Since Snowflake was a tiny yellow duckling, the two have been inseparable, and have even played together on the beach, swung together on the swing set, and gone trick-or-treating together dressed as Frozen characters.

“They are best friends, but in his eyes she’s mama. She’s Mama Duck,” Brown said.

Turtles may be tough on the outside, but that doesn’t mean they can stand up to a Japanese freight train.

Unfortunately, these hard-shelled creatures were having a few too many run-ins with trains in Kyoto and Nara. The turtles would attempt to cross train tracks and become trapped between railway switches, according to City Lab.

Thanks to these turtle tunnels, a lot more turtle lives are being saved. (Also, it’s kinda cute when they plop into the tunnels):

Meet the saddest cat you’ve ever seen.

Luhu’s morose facial expression is making him famous online. He has more than 118,000 Instagram followers, and that number has only been increasing.

Despite the animal’s sad appearance, he’s actually quite a happy fellow (at least, as happy as a cat can be). His owner Maggie Liu insists the cat is “very friendly,” according to Daily Mail.

But what makes this cat look like you just told him his favorite team lost the Super Bowl?

“He got a pretty major operation on his eyes at that time,” Liu explained, “so Luhu always opens his eyes pretty hard when he needs look at something.”  As a result, the cat’s eyes are turned down, but the sad expression leaves our hearts turned up.

This Illinois couple doesn’t have a typical love story, but it might be something straight out of a romance novel.

It all started when Heather Krueger was diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease in March 2014. The outcome was looking bleak for her.

“I was told I had less than a 50 percent chance of living more than two months. It was traumatic,” Krueger told ABC News.

At this time, Chris Dempsey heard about the story through his co-worker. The co-worker happened to be Heather’s cousin, who had been discussing the medical dilemma. When Chris heard about the tragedy the family was going through, he didn’t hesitate to get involved.

“When I heard about it, I just thought I would want someone to help me,” Chris said.

Soon Chris was taking the necessary tests to see if he was a viable candidate to donate a portion of his liver, and luckily he was!

“He called me and said the tests came out great, let’s do this, I’m a match, I’m your donor,” said Heather. “I couldn’t believe it.”

Soon after discovering they were matches, the two underwent the surgeries that took over eight hours. Doctors removed 55 percent of Chris’s liver, which was only the first step in a long 2-month recovery process. During their recovery, the couple began to fall in love.

He said, “you never know what will happen to change someone’s life. I never would have thought this a year ago.”

The couple plans to marry in October and hopes to include the doctors and other medical staff in their wedding. Krueger’s cousin, who “introduced” the couple, will serve as a groomsman.
