Once you have a kid, your life is now ruled by your little one, right? Not quite, as an Irish Mum and New Zealand Dad are proving.

Karen Edwards, a 31-year-old nurse and travel blogger, and husband Shaun are giving parenthood an odd twist. Karen is from Ireland and Shaun is from New Zealand. They both love traveling and have backpacked the globe multiple times, conquering more than fifty countries.

However, when Karen became pregnant, the well-traveled couple didn’t miss a beat and they took their little one Esme with them along for the ride.

Crazy as it may sound, they packed one backpack between the three of them and set off to bring their daughter to ten countries within the first year of her life:

While it may be insane, Karen says that as an experienced traveler, it’s only a matter of taking a slower pace. She’s had to forfeit some things, but overall, the couple is happy with their adventures and their daughter is too.

“Both Shaun and I were keen backpackers before I fell pregnant,” said Karen in her blog, Travel Mad Mum:

For her maternity leave, Shaun left his job, sold their car, and put the house up for rent:

After being born in London, Esme was vaccinated and breastfed. Then Mum and Dad packed their bag and hit the road for Asia, Australia, and New Zealand:

“We have no regrets, she got to experience new sights, scenes and smells as she grew,” Karen says about taking Esme along at such a young age:

Karen and Shaun aren’t the first ones to do this. Karen says she was inspired by her best friend, who is also a “traveling Mumma”

What do you think of these parents? Is it crazy to take such a young child along for the ride, or are they simply incorporating a kid into their lives? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments and SHARE with other traveling-loving Moms in your life.

K-9 soldiers and their partners rely on each other to stay alive in incredibly dangerous situations and build a trust that is unparalleled. So when this soldier’s K-9 partner passed away, he decided to honor him in the sweetest way possible.

Sergeant Dave Heyhoe served in Afghanistan alongside his K-9 partner Treo to detect bombs, and the two saved dozens of lives over the years. In fact, the brave black labrador even earned the Dickin Medal for Gallantry, which is the highest honor awarded to military dogs in the British military.

After Heyhoe and Treo retired, they were able to stay together and the dog became part of the family along with Heyhoe’s wife and three children.

In October of 2015, Treo died at the age of 14 and left a hole in Heyhoe’s heart that couldn’t be filled. To pay tribute to the partner who kept him alive at war and the dog who had become like a son, Heyhoe decided to get a tattoo mixed with his ashes.
11

“The tattoo completes me,” Heyhoe said. “People might think it’s strange, but Treo was like a son to me, and his death his knocked me for six.Over the years we have seen gunfire, death and bomb scares together – I’ve been lost without him. Now it feels like Treo is by my side – where he’s supposed to be.”

What’s your biggest regret in life? Even if you can say nothing, that every mistake or chance not taken was a learning experience, we all have some things we wish we did a little differently.

In the following video from positive journalism site A Plus we see how normal people react when they’re asked to look back on the past and face their regrets when they least expect to.

A Plus put a giant chalkboard on a busy street for an entire day in New York City and had someone put down “Write Your Biggest Regret”.

From there, dozens of New Yorkers stopped to think about their answers, and some even revealed them to the world.

[A Plus]
[A Plus]
Among the many different answers that people wrote down, there was one common theme. Unsurprisingly, most people regretted things they didn’t do or say and chances not taken.

Two Kittens Were Found In A Garden And Now Refuse To Leave Each Other’s Side

Cats aren’t known for being the most sentimental or affectionate animals, but these two orange kittens were bonded for life after being abandoned as kittens and being found in a garden.

When Anya Yukhtina, a producer and event manager from Moscow, Russia, discovered two helpless day-old kittens, she knew she had to do something to help them. Since the two orphaned brothers were clearly struggling on their own without their mother, Anya took them home where they were finally cared for properly, and allowed to thrive.

The kittens were just days old when Anya found the duo in a garden, and decided to take them home as they were too small to make it on their own. The cats got around the clock care with feedings every 4 hours and cosy warm baths.

Soon enough, the two brothers were healthy again, and the babies started growing like normal.

While they may have started growing up, the two never grew apart. The now 8-month-old cats love getting into trouble, curling up in the sink, watching TV together, and taking long afternoon naps together.

Lost Pit Bull Hops Into Just The Right Police Car Looking For Help

As a child, your parents probably told you to look for a police officer if you ever got lost.

While this is totally normal for children, it’s not something dogs normally do.

But on Tuesday morning in Jacksonville, Florida, a sweet pit bull got lost from her owner, and knew just the right man to go to.

Officer Larry Taylor was out in his brand new police car, when he got “a very unexpected visitor.” The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office describes the event,

A dog ran and jumped right in when the door was opened and she made herself all comfortable in his passenger seat. Her owner was located, came and was able to get her out. That is after she spent some time with Officer Taylor writing a police report.”

Public information officer Melissa Bujeda told Barkpost.com that Jacksonville police officers see every dog, and every human, as “unique, and we are trained to treat each encounter as such.”

She continued,

This was a non-aggressive dog looking for a friend. Officer Taylor was able to be that friend while she was hanging out in his car. She was very relaxed and loving every minute of it.”

Baby Gito, a sweet baby orangutan, was found abandoned at just five months old in 2015 after he had been dumped in a cardboard box and left out in the sun to die. Thankfully, Gito was rescued by the International Animal Rescue team just in time and was given all the care he needed to get better.

But all the care in the world wouldn’t matter if he couldn’t interact and bond with another orangutan. After baby Asoka was orphaned and ended up at their Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Sungai Awan, the team decided he would be a perfect match to play and bond with Gito.

At first, Gito was incredibly curious at his new brother since he had never met another baby orangutan before, and couldn’t wait to interact, but tiny Asoka was a little hesitant.

But soon enough the two warmed up to each other, and Gito planted a gentle kiss on his new brothers forehead as they played together.

Babies have a funny way of showing how they feel without having to say a word at all.

When this 9-day-old got tired of her dad filming her hiccuping, she let him know exactly how she felt in the most amazing way possible. Dad Justin Lewis captured the funny moment on video, when Jordyn appeared to show her displeasure by slowing raising her middle finger! While this could have purely been a coincidence, and it probably was, it doesn’t change the fact the timing was absolutely perfect.

At the start of the clip, Lewis says, “Daddy’s little baby got the icky hickies.” And once she flips him the bird, he says, “You gon give me the finger though? Really?”

He titled the video on Youtube, “Hiccup Flickup,” and wrote “Our nine day old daughter had the hiccups and I guess she grew tired of me recording her.”

It can be hard for anyone to maintain their composure when meeting their favorite celebrity, even for dogs.

This was especially true for Ace, who is training to be a guide dog for the blind with the Guide Dogs of America

He was taken to Disneyland for a few hours as a socialization experience, and met one of his Disney dog heros- Pluto. He still has about 6-9 more months to go in his extensive training, but Ace was able to effectively demonstrate his down/stay to Pluto, and it warmed the hearts of onlookers.

We’re not sure if Ace was starstruck, or just trying to show a fellow dog some of his training skills, but it was very adorable to watch! He reacted the way any kid would when seeing their favorite character at Disney.

Luke Spring is on his way to the top and he’s getting there one tap at a time.

At just 6-year-old, he is winning over crowds with his nimble feet that glide across the stage. At a recent affair, the first grader performed with instructor Justin M. Lewis and together they won the crowd over.

It’s a rare sight to see a young child perform to a quality that is on par with a professional. At one point, the duo even battled back and forth, creating a duel. While the instructor and professional dancer was good, he couldn’t hold a candle to our little Luke Spring. The child stole the show right out from underneath Lewis’s metal-clad shoes.

Through precision, skill, and determination, Luke has become a star at an early age. According to his instructor, it is due to his ability to listen and pay attention as well as his ability to mimic what he sees very easily.

The child’s hard work has paid off because the audience is in awe of his capabilities:

If you admire this raw talent and skill as much as we do, please SHARE with friends and family so they can get a kick out of the young kicking, stepping, and spinning star.

Winning a half marathon is no easy feat, even for the most dedicated runner, but this incredible dad managed to place first in the Katy Half Marathon all while pushing his 11-month-old daughter in her stroller.

In just 1 hour, 11 minutes, 27 seconds, Calum Neff, a 31-year-old father from Katy, Texas, crossed the finish line with his 20-pound daughter, Holland, in her 22-pound stroller. Incredibly, the two managed to beat the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon by a runner pushing a stroller by more than two minutes.

“It was just a truly epic day to share with my youngest daughter. It shows that anything is really possible and being a dad and working doesn’t mean you have to give up on other dreams and hobbies,” Neff said.

Neff bundled up his daughter for the 13.1-mile race that started early in the morning, and the minute the two started, Holland began waving and laughing as everyone cheered them on. “For almost the entire race, she was waving and clapping and talking and babbling away,” Neff said. “She was stealing all the hearts along the way, that’s for sure.”

When Neff and Holland finally crossed the finish line after the incredible experience, he immediately grabbed the first place medal that had been placed over his neck, and crowned his little girl as the winner instead. “I wanted that to be hers,” Neff said. “It was fun for me to put that around her neck.”

We like to believe that love has a way of conquering all, and these long-lost sweethearts are proving that not even 71 years apart and over 10,000 miles can keep two people who care about each other apart.

After seven decades spent living separate lives, 93-year-old WWII veteran Norwood Thomas was contacted by 88-year-old Joyce Morris, the woman he had fallen for and planned to marry while at war. “We said goodbye like we were going to meet next weekend and then we never met again,” Thomas said of the last time he had seen Morris in 1945.

Last year, the two finally found each other again and saw each other for the first time on a Skype date, but just seeing each other was not enough. After hearing their story, hundreds of people made donations online, and Air New Zealand donated first class tickets to get Thomas to Australia.

After the long trip, the two finally got to hug, laugh, and tease one another like old times, and are getting to spend Valentine’s Day together during the two-week trip that Thomas describes as the “most wonderful thing that could have happened to me.”

“When she called me ‘Tommy,’ her nickname for me, Oh, my God, it stirred emotions that had been dormant for a long, long time. She had always been on the fringes of my thoughts this whole time,” Thomas told ABC News. “She’d always pop up as a pleasant memory, and it turns out that she’d been thinking of me this whole time too.”

Your dog might just be a pet, but any dog lover will know that their constant presence and companionship makes them an irreplaceable member of the family who is just as hard to say goodbye to as your own sibling.

When faced with the impossible task of saying goodbye to their beloved family dog, these four sisters from Adelaide, Australia came up with an adorable way for the Dobbie family to pay tribute to the many years of love and happiness that have come from their four-legged companion.

Tigger, the 16-year-old Jack Russel dog, became sick and was scheduled to be put down, but before that sad day, the family came together to recreate their favorite picture with their pup.

Here’s a story that is guaranteed to put a big smile on your face!

For so long, Tennesee high school student Robert Lewis has watched his teams win and lose from the sidelines. According to NY Daily News, Lewis, who has Down syndrome, has acted as team manager to his school’s basketball, football and soccer teams since his freshman year at Franklin Road Academy.

Yet Lewis has never seen any action on the court or fields until this year’s “Senior Night” game, when everything changed. Franklin Road’s varsity basketball team was up 20 points against their rivalswww.usn.org/, so coach John Pierce decided there was no better moment to let Lewis have his moment to shine and put him in the game.

At the same time, Daily News reports that University School of Nashville coach Mike Jones decided to put Lewis’ younger brother Matthew, who’s on his team, on the court so the brothers could play one another.

While everyone expected Lewis to have some fun on the court, they were soon stunned when the disabled high school student scored a 3-point shot.

Fans and classmates rushed the court, while Coach Pierce told Daily News he was left asking himself “Did that really just happen?”.

Losing a wallet is a terrible feeling.

When Taylor Sloan of Santa Rose, California dropped her wallet at a Super Motocross event in Oakland, she thought it was lost for good.

Sloan immediately got a new drivers license, and cancelled her debit card, but to her surprise she received an unexpected call from her mother. Apparently, a 10-year-old boy named Nasim Lawrence found the wallet at the motocross event, and sent it back to Taylor’s mother’s home, which was the address on her license. Nasim included a really sweet letter with the wallet, and it read:

Dear Ms. Sloan,

My name is Nasim Lawrance and I am 10 years old. I found your wallet on the ground at the Super Motocross event in Oakland. I know how it feels to lose something and I wanted to make sure you got your wallet back. Hopefully, I have made you smile and you are happy to have your money and ID back. I am glad I found it instead of some bad person who would steal from you. You look like a very nice person who does nice things for people so I wanted to do something nice for you. Plus it’s the honest thing to do.

Sincerely,

Nasim

Sloan was overjoyed, and after speaking to Nasim’s mother, she said, “He was so worried about me getting it in the mail that he made her pay extra money to track it.”

Sloan is currently mailing Nasim a thank you letter, and a bag of candy. “He’s pretty excited about that bag of candy,” she said.
