Mike “Porky” Parry, one of Britain’s legendary and eccentric journalist’s decided to do the Cinnamon Challenge and we couldn’t believe it.
Many probably remember the cinnamon challenge from a few years ago where bloggers and anyone who wanted to injure themselves would swallow a spoonful of ground cinnamon and then not drink any water for 60 seconds.
At that point, they realized how much pain they were in and basically started spitting up the cinnamon, pounding water, and many felt like they couldn’t breathe.
Well apparently, Mike Parry felt this was the perfect challenge for him, even though he’s 60-years-old, with only one third of a working heart!
In 2004, Parry suffered heart failure and was diagnosed with advance dilated cardiomyopathy. He often reminds the millions of listeners to his radio show, Two Mikes TV that only one third of his heart works.
While he was no where near a good candidate for this challenge, Mike says this in his YouTube video:
“I’ve seen all these younger people than me who shoving this stuff in their mouth and then they’re all over the place because they can’t take it. Well, believe me, I’ve faced worse than tablespoons of cinnamon during my life.”
In his words exactly: “I bet you I won’t even balk because I’ve been trained to take pain. I’m told there will be an explosive reaction, there won’t be from me.”
“I can’t breathe,” Mike says.
“It’s like drinking cement, which then mixes with the saliva in your mouth, it hardens up, and forms a barrier.”
“Perhaps it wasn’t such a good idea to do this…I’ve got acute heart failure.”
