A Maryland dog-lover is a hero for pooches in their golden years.
Sher Polvinale and her team of volunteers work to make life comfortable for man’s best friend before they go to doggie heaven. Almost two-dozen dogs live at the House of a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The home spares no expense to care for the dogs needs, assuring they get not only the best love and attention, but also medical needs and vet visits.
The volunteers even said they make sure none of the dogs have to pass alone and they are all comforted through this time in their life. The house even has a staircase, dubbed the “stairway to heaven” where they hang up a picture of all the former residents, assuring none of the dogs are ever forgotten.

And if that doesn’t break your heart, this bittersweet video from National Geographic will definitely hit you with all the feels…
