Patient Doberman Makes Friends With An Adorable 2-Month-Old Kitten

Dobermans have a bad reputation as menacing security dogs, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a soft spot for other furrier friends, as this video clearly shows.

Dobermans are often thought of as vicious dogs with a mean attitude. This might have something to do with the fact that they were originally bred by a tax collector who was looking to keep himself–and his money–safe from potential burglars.

The story goes that Herr Karl Louis Dobermann (who lived about 150 years ago) was a tax collector, who would sometimes work as a police officer, night guard, and dog catcher. Because of his career, Dobermann often found himself traveling with bags of money through dangerous parts of town at late hours.

He also had access to the pound, so he bred himself a canine bodyguard for safety. And while the dogs have been used for guarding and intimidating, they are not inherently cruel.

Nothing proves this true better than the following video which shows a 2-month-old kitten clinging to her big-boned friend. The kitty is playful and the dog is very patient as she repeatedly gets her claws stuck to his muzzle.

He doesn’t seem to mind, however, and seems to find her as cute as we do:
