Yes, this really happened.
On Friday, In Ecuador, police noticed this adorable sloth struggling to cross the highway. He was seen holding onto a post, as it appeared, because he was afraid.

Officer Aguayo stopped his car to go check on what’s known as the “so perezoso,” which translates to “lazy bear,” and the Transit Police even shared some photos on their Facebook.

The sloth was taken to a veterinarian who specializes in them, and once it was determined to be ok, they returned him to his natural habitat.
Thanks to this little guy, the executive director of the Ecuador Transit Commission ordered all animals found on the streets and highways be tended to immediately.
