The heroes of ASPCA have done it again, rescuing more than 600 animals in one of the biggest sting operations of all time.

When it comes to animal shelters, you might presume that no-kill shelters are the best option, but after seeing the following breaking news story you might change your mind.

Over the weekend, the amazing heroes of ASPCA released the following video, where they describe one of the biggest animal cruelty busts of all time.

Dogs, cats, horses and a variety of other animals were found living in unthinkable conditions at no-kill shelter The Haven – Friends For Life in Raeford, North Carolina.

On  The Haven’s Facebook page, they claim to “rescue, restore to health, and re-home pets”.

They also describe an animal-assisted therapy program and wrote “Our mission at The Haven-Friends for Life is to end the needless euthanasia of adoptable companion animals by transforming the image of the homeless pet from community drain to community asset.”

However, when ASPCA’s Vice President of Field Investigations and Response, Tim Rickey, and his team of animal angels arrived at the 122-acre site, they found sick and injured animals in overcrowded cages, as well as dozens of carcasses, according to Fox News.

The Washington Post reported last week that the Hoke County Sheriff’s department arrested owners Stephen Joseph Spear and Linden Spear and charged them with multiple counts of animal cruelty, as well as possession of controlled substances.

Now the ASPCA is working with local programs like The Ashville Humane Society to transport the animals, which includes about 300 dogs and puppies, to safe locations as quickly as possible, where they can be treated by veterinarians and soon given something they’ve never known before… the chance for a happy life.
