A New Zealand mother is making fairy tales a reality by turning her daughter into the subject of her whimsical photography.

It was “the need to photograph my daughter growing, changing, struggling then thriving,” Holly said.

Violet was born with a disease called Hirschsprung’s Disease, in which there is an absence of nerve endings in parts of her bowel. At just two and a half months old, Violet had to go under the knife. Additionally, Violet has a missing hand condition, which was caused by a mutation in utero. Holly says the two conditions are unrelated.

“A good day with her is a day with no sickness or bowel issues. As a parent of an only child, this is our normal and everything else takes a back seat.”
