When Steven Johnston was laid off from his corporate job in 2008, he faced a crossroad.
The economy was in shambles, he had a mortgage he could no longer afford on his wife’s teacher salary, and financial recovery seemed dismal. Faced with a difficult decision, Steven and his wife did something extreme: they sold their North Carolina home and moved into a school bus.
Odd as it may sound, the couple had an old school bus lying around. It belonged to Steven’s father who used to own a small school bus company.
For the remainder of the 2008 school year, Steven worked with his father to convert the bus into a mobile home, while his wife cut the necessary ties of being a school teacher. In July of that year, the couple headed West int heir new home, initially covering 4,000 miles in just six months.
The renovations to the school bus transformed it into an unrecognizable piece of interior design that I would LOVE to live in:
