Today, after tests in a few countries, Facebook rolled out its augmented like button reactions to all users.

Now, when you click like on someone’s photo or post, you have the option to choose an emotion to go with it- like, love, haha, wow, sad or angry.

Instead of a ‘like count,’ posts will display the total ‘reaction count,’ and show the icons of the most popular reactions.

Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook says “I want to really make it easy for people to give other types of feedback than the like button in News Feed.”

Sometimes when a friend shares a post about a tragedy or something that annoys them, it doesn’t feel right to like it, and commenting can be awkward. With these new reactions, you can express empathy, without technically having to say anything.

If you want to know the breakdown, you can even tap the reaction count to see who felt what. But, if you don’t want to use reactions, you can simply click the like button as you normally have.

By adding reactions, Facebook will now have a better understanding of what we feel and what kind of post resonates with each one of us.

It could potentially use this knowledge to filter our News Feed and show more things that “wow” us.

What do you think of Facebook’s new ‘reaction buttons’? Do you think they will be helpful in better showing how we feel about a post?
