Police Officers In Lithuania Celebrate International Women’s Day With A Sweet Surprise

Women are strong, courageous, incredible and unstoppable… Women don’t need a day – or month – to let them know how amazing they are, but when the reminder is as sweet as the story below, it definitely helps!

March 8th is International Women’s Day and as you can read in this article about the movement towards gender parity, women still have a great deal of catching up they need to do in terms of equality and education around the globe.

Since International Women’s Day is different in every country and culture, we wanted to share the following story, found on Facebook, of how some very inspiring police officers choose to celebrate the day.

Instead of pulling over the ladies below to give them tickets, cops handed over flowers in a gesture that can only be described as classy and charming. However, that wasn’t going to stop the internet from seeing the other side to the male cops’ showing their appreciation. Many commenters found the act to be sexist and condemned the tradition.

“Maybe they should recruit women in the Lithuanian police…that’s what this day is about…just sayin'” one commenter wrote, before someone responded saying that there actually are large number of policewomen in Lithuania compared to other countries.

Either way, it’s hard to deny that the ladies below look anything less than thrilled by their sweet surprise!
