Mom’s Dying Wish For Her Beloved Dogs Goes Viral

When you’re sick with cancer, there really is no “silver lining”.

Anyway you look at it, the disease is the absolute worst. It’s scary, painful, confusing, and heartbreaking. However, one thing a lot of terminal cancer patients worry about more than anything else is the loved ones they will be forced to leave behind.

That’s exactly why one woman’s heartbreaking Facebook post about her beloved pets has quickly gone viral online. Kathleen Zuidema of Friday Harbor, Washington has never been a smoker, but cancer attacked her lungs anyway…and then it spread to the rest of her body.

Although she will receive chemotherapy, Fox Q13 reports that she will likely only live for a few more months. Zuidema wrote on Facebook “This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do,” but she was not referring to her painful treatment.

“Things are now progressing to the point where I need to secure a home for the posse,” referring to what she calls her “Aussie Possie,” of the three Australian Shepherds, Autumn, Mona, and Finnegan, she has had since they were puppies.

“They are a package deal. It is a huge thing to ask of one person but the thought of them being separated is more than l can bear,” Zuidema wrote in the post that was shared more than 25,000 times in just a few days.

Thankfully, USA Today has reported that the outpouring of support led to countless people inquiring about adopting the dogs…and to help Zuidema pay for her treatment through this GoFundMe page.

The three dogs will now stay together forever with a new owner not far from their current home — and no matter what happens to Zuidema, she’ll know her fur babies are in good hands.
