When it comes to the world of modeling and fashion, anything can happen.
However, it hasn’t been until very recently that we’ve seen a shift from the long-legged, fresh-faced models walking the runway and gracing our magazines…and we love where things are headed!
As you can see in this touching story about how one artist transformed questionable-looking dolls into ones that can be great role models for little girls, certain industries have a real need more diversity.
Lately, we’ve seen plus-size models kill it on the catwalk and disabled kids starring in print ads for major retailers like Target. You may have also heard about Madeline Stuart, the Australian model with Down syndrome from this story who is taking the industry by storm.
The model has been pushed into the spotlight once again, after a bridal-themed series of her by photographer Sarah Houston, alongside male model Quaid Coxsey.
Although the 19-year-old may not be walking down the aisle herself anytime soon, the beautiful photos, which were arranged by the owners of Virginia-based wedding venue Rixey Manor, have given great hope to other disabled men and women.
Not to mention a much-needed diversification in both the modeling and wedding industries!
