If you hadn’t been outside in 2016 yet, you’d be frolicking too.
A giraffe at Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo showed his extreme appreciation for warm weather when he went outside for the first time in 2016. On March 9, the weather outside the zoo was unseasonably warm, so the staff allowed its four giraffes access to the outdoor enclosure.
Potoka, a 2-year-old male, responded with his own particular enthusiasm when he felt the sun on his face for the first time in many months.
This does raise the question however of the kind of environment these animals should be living in. Should an animal that has evolved to live in the dry, open woodlands of sub-saharan Africa be living in the cold interior of a Chicago zoo?
