The officer is Australian police man Constable Scott Mason, who’s just become a father himself. He’s looking after the joey after the four-month-old animal. The kangaroo, who local residents have dubbed Cujoe, was found by police after his mother was hit by a truck in Perth.
The adorable baby was pulled from its dead mom’s pouch and handed to cops in the tiny town of Cue, 385 miles northeast of Perth, on Wednesday morning.
Since then, the constable has been caring for the little guy. He says he’s excited to have the joey as an addition to the growing family, joking that “because it needs to be fed every three hours, it’s going to be my little child basically, as my wife’s in Perth with our newborn,” Mason told Perth Now.
