On Saturday morning in Fairfield California, a dog was innocently struck by a car, who did not even bother to stop after hitting him.
The poor dog lay alone on the side of the road, suffering very serious injuries.
Salono County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo to their Facebook page of a man, who has been identified as “Eric,” laying beside the dying dog. Eric says he witnessed a car hit a dog and drive away without stopping. He ran over to check on the dog and called Sheriff’s Animal Control for help.
When a deputy arrived, Eric was sitting in the rain, by the side of the wounded dog, waiting for an animal control officer to take the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic.
The Sheriff’s office commended the kind-hearted man by posting the photo of him on their Facebook and saying,
“We would like to thank Eric for not looking the other way and driving by. He went above and beyond to help this injured dog. Please share and help us thank Eric.”
The following day, word of the dog’s passing was provided to the Sheriff’s office, and they commented to Facebook,
“We thank you all for your overwhelming support of Eric’s good deed and concern for the injured dog. Our community is truly amazing. We are very sad to report that the dog has passed over the rainbow bridge.”
Please SHARE this story to Facebook in loving memory of the dog, and this good samaritan who was by his side.
