An 11-year-old girl recently donated her allowance money to help get bulletproof vests for the dogs of Canton Police Department’s K9 Unit in Ohio.
The donation is in response to the terrible news of beloved K9 Jethro passing away this January.
Jethro died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds while responding to a burglary at a grocery store.

He was only 3, and his death was devastating to Canton P.D. Officer Ryan Davis, who was partnered with the german shepherd since he was an 8-week-old puppy.

“Officer Davis has received 2,000 letters since Jethro’s death, and he was catching up with them over the weekend,” Stanbro said. “He came across this girl’s letter and donation, and it really touched him.”
In the letter, 11-year-old Allison says, “I sorry about Jethro. So here is my allowance for the bullet proof vests. God bless you and the dogs.”

Although Allison only had a few dollars to give, this kind gesture really struck a cord with the entire K9 unit.
They are now in the process of measuring the seven dogs for their bullet proof vests!
