Elizabeth Smith is a 48-year-old California woman who is now suing San Diego salon Blowbunny: Blow Dry & Hair Extension Bar. Getting her hair washed by them nearly killed her.
In January 2014, Smith received a routine treatment, consisting of having her hair washed, conditioned, cut, and blown. However, 8 days after leaving the salon, she began having health issues.
“I had weakness in my left arm and leg,” Smith told BuzzFeed. “I just didn’t feel right. I was standing up to point, and I couldn’t stand.”
But is a salon-induced stroke medically plausible?
You may not believe, but this kind of thing is totally possible and while it doesn’t happen often, it can happen to you. The condition has even happened enough to warrant a nickname: Beauty Parlor Stroke Syndrome.
Doctors say it can happen when necks are hyper-extended.
