Have you ever stood and held the same position for three hours in the sweltering heat of a DC day in late Spring?
I have not, but I once held frog pose for three minutes during an intense hot yoga class and I thought my legs were going to fall off after.
From what the following video says, however, it appears saluting for three hours is an extremely strenuous activity and even more so for an injured veteran.
But this wounded warrior did not let his injuries stand in the way of him standing guard. Staff Sargent Tim Chambers has become a bit of local hero for the annual tribute he pays to his fallen brothers in arms during the Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom. A shattered wrist that should have been in a cast could not keep him from holding his 3 hour long salute over a makeshift memorial to those who died for us.
Local DC News affiliates covered a special report of the veteran who shows us exactly what patriotism looks like. If you support our troops and want stories like this heroes out there, then please SHARE this inspiring video with friends on Facebook. And don’t forget to thank a veteran today.
