Kate Smith thought she was feeling nauseous due to a few too many Disneyland rides, but it actually turned out to be something more serious.
34-year-old Kate had just given birth to twins last year, but she had no idea that her nausea, this time, could mean she was pregnant again.
As her morning sickness persisted, Kate finally took a pregnancy test to reveal, that she was indeed pregnant. She felt different, however, compared to her previous pregnancies, and she was suffering excruciating headaches.
Kate soon discovered that she was not pregnant with one child, instead with four!
“Both myself and Gerard started laughing at first but then the reality set in and I started crying,” Kate told mirror.co.uk.
She continued, We were both self-employed and we had no idea how we would cope, then at our 12-week scan we were told one baby had died, something nurses explained was fairly common.”
From the moment, the Smith’s realized how lucky they were to still be pregnant with three babies, and they wanted nothing more than to give birth to healthy triplets. “My stomach grew three times as fast and I looked eight months pregnant when I was only five months gone,” the mom described.
But on February 12, after an elected c-section, Kate gave birth to three healthy babies- Annie, Dolly and Gerard
“I couldn’t believe it when they were actually born, they were in hospital for three weeks before we could take them home,” Kate told the mirror.
While one of the babies, Dolly, needed a small operation on her abdomen due to a cyst, she was soon ok, and everything went so well, according to Kate.
“Me and Gerard have coped and I hope other couples who find themselves having more than one baby at once read our story and realize they’ll be fine.”
