When Sarah and Steve purchased their home in California, they had no idea what was hiding behind their walls.
In their 2-year-old son’s bedroom, there was a small door hidden behind her wall. The parents assumed it was an attic or something, so upon investigation, they found something truly surprising! When they opened the door, they found a whole other room that they had know idea was there. The space appeared to be an abandoned storage room, that has been untouched for decades.
It was weirdly slanted, the whole room being 7 by 12 feet, with a tiny 2 by 4 foot door.
Sarah and Steve were very limited with what they could do with this space, but they knew they wanted to make it work. While they were redesigning the space, they kept the dresser in front so their son would be surprised!
They would up converting the space into a tiny room for their son. This was one heck of a DIY project, but these loving parents enjoyed doing it.
They decorated the space with things from Ikea or whatever they found around the house. Mom added a Bekvam spice rack on the wall to hold writing and drawing supplies and hung the banner her son made at school.
They installed new drywall, wood laminate flooring and molding.
And when the room was complete, they decided to surprise their son for his birthday.
The look on his face when he saw the room was priceless! He had no idea it existed!
Sarah wrote that her son called it a “treasure room,” and declared that he would show it to everyone.
