8-Year-Old Girl Becomes Cancer Free The Same Time Charity Turns Her Into A Princess

Sophia Bahena has had a rough year. In fact, ever since she was diagnosed with leukemia at age 4, life has been a bit rough for this child.

But things are looking up for the now 8-year-old princess. Not only has she been declared cancer-free, she’s also been declared a princess by Special Spaces and Medieval Times. The world’s most feudal form of fine dining teamed up with a non-profit that works to design and build dream homes for children with life-threatening illnesses. (Think “Extreme Home Improvement” meets Make-A-Wish Foundation).

The result was a palace for a princess and her equally noble sisters. According to Mom, Blanca Bahena, Sohpia was diagnosed when she was pregnant with little brother Lucas. The family already had two other daughters, Liliana and Tatiana, so the diagnosis was really tragic for this growing family.

As a result of her illness, Sophia has had to miss out on a lot of activities little girls love participating in.

For example, Sophia could take ballet classes a few years ago, but when her platelet count was too low, she couldn’t participate in the recital.

“She taught her younger sister her routine, and her younger sister danced it for her,” Blanca recalled. “She taught her on Friday, and on Saturday her sister danced it with a smile on her face.”
