Saturday, May 28th, 2016, was set to be one of the greatest days in 18-year-old Myneisha Johnson’s life so far.

After an uphill battle juggling family issues, schoolwork, and a young baby, the high school senior was set to receive her much-deserved diploma on her graduation day from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, TN. But the young mom’s life was tragically cut short in a devastating way just one week before her big accomplishment when she was mercilessly and randomly gunned down by a troubled teen in a drive-by shooting while walking with two friends in Downtown Memphis.

Myneisha’s heartbreaking story and her murderer’s arrest has made national headlines, especially after Booker T. Washington Principal Alisha Coleman-Kiner revealed that 1-year-old Kylan Johnson would be walked across the graduation stage on May 28th with grandma Terry to receive his mom’s diploma. Sadly, at least one person thought Coleman-Kiner’s touching tribute was a bad idea. The principal received the following vile email from a local woman, giving her unsolicited “food for thought” on Myneisha’s death:

However, quickly Kelly Griffin learned the hard way to never mess with Coleman-Kiner when it comes to her students, who she calls her “babies”. The amazing principal – and English teacher – swiftly clap back at the woman who wrote her the rude, racist, and cruel email.

In a post that has since gone viral, the principal slammed the person who attacked her deceased student, who was lovingly known as “ShugNug” and her young son, and the result was nothing short of amazing.

“Thank you so much for your unsolicited ‘food’ for thought. After regurgitating the washback you just emailed (as it was definitely not ‘food’), I offer the following appetizer, entrée, and dessert for you to consider,” she wrote on Facebook, continuing to make seven awesome points to the woman who judged her decision to give Kylan Johnson his mother’s diploma.

“You have NO idea how hard my student was working to overcome every single obstacle in her life. She worked a job every day, she kept her OWN baby… she played on the basketball team, she did well in all of her Honor’s classes, she kept up with her younger siblings and made them come to school, and, most importantly, she NEVER missed one day of school. There are other issues that she had to deal with that I refuse to share, but just know that I know a whole slew of adults who would be in an insane asylum if they had to live with one tenth of her issues,” Coleman-Kiner wrote.

“Because SEVEN is the number of completion, and symbolically the number of days my student had left to walk across the stage when her life was AGGRESSIVELY snatched away from her, my last point is: Stay. In. Your. Lane. This sweet baby meant too much to me for me to remain professional if I receive any more emails from judgmental folk who sit in the air looking “down” on folk they don’t deserve to sit next to.”

Bravo, Principal Coleman-Kiner, your students – and Kylan – are so lucky to have you on their side!

Please pray for the Kylan and his family during this difficult time and remember Myneisha on her graduation day. SHARE this post with friends on Facebook.
