Dad Stops Daughter’s Wedding So Stepdad Can Join Their Walk Down The Aisle

It’s only natural for every little girl to grow up dreaming about her wedding day, and for every father to watch his daughter grow into a woman, knowing one day he will get to walk her down the aisle.

For brides and their fathers, this very special tradition is often one of the most heartwarming and tear-inducing moments of a wedding day. However, while some women aren’t lucky enough to have their fathers able to walk them down the aisle and hand them over to their new husbands, others face a different kind of dilemma… one Todd Bachman handled in the sweetest way possible.

Moments before Bachman was prepared to give away his daughter, Brittany Peck, he warned the wedding photographer to be prepared for something very special during the ceremony. Since Brittany’s parents divorced when she was very young and her step-father, Todd Cendrosky, had been an equally important man in her life as biological dad Bachman since age 11, she was torn.

It was a difficult decision to leave Cendrosky sitting with other wedding guests, but Bachman surprised his daughter, their family, and friends, and most especially Brittany’s step-dad by grabbing him and pulling him in to walk their daughter down the aisle, together.

“Families are what we make them…make it about your kids and not your ego,” Photographer Delia D. Blackburn wrote on Facebook. “Congratulations Todd Bachman on showing your kids what true love really is…love for your children.”

Peck told the Chronicle-Telegram her father and step-father had “strained” relationship over the years, making the moment that more monumental.”My dad said, ‘It was only right that we both give you away,’” she said.
