The weeks leading up to a person’s wedding day are often filled with what feels like never-ending anxiety, planning, and preparation in hopes that everything will go according to plan.
However, anyone who has ever been married before can tell you that sometimes none of that matters on the big day. As you can see in this bride’s heartwarming story, there are some things you can just never plan for.
For 24-year-old Julie Stroyn and her husband Andrew Nixon, 26, their wedding day wasn’t just a special celebration of their new life together, but also the amazing rescue of someone else’s. Stroyn works as a trauma nurse at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, according to TODAY, and although she wasn’t wearing her usual scrubs on her wedding day, the newlywed proved she is never truly off the job.
[TODAY]Just as Stroyn and Nixon were walking out of the Pennsylvanian Hotel in Pittsburgh for the first time as husband and wife, they heard strangers yelling “Does anyone know CPR? Is anyone a doctor?”.
[TODAY]The fast-acting nurse dropped her bouquet and purse and ran over to an unconscious woman laying across the street on a bench. Stroyn told TODAY, “I kind of forgot about the day’s activities and focused on saving this woman’s life,” as she started performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a young woman appearing to be in her 20s, who had been returning from a concert.

[The Brand Studio]None of the wedding guests could believe what they had just witnessed, except for Stroyn’s proud new husband. “I’ve known her since she was 15 and seeing what she did Saturday night didn’t surprise me at all,” Nixon told TODAY. “I’m very proud to call her my wife.”
