The last thing you want a nice dinner out with your friends to be is awkward.

Sometimes, despite our well wishes, it is.

Usually, there is always one friend who has to make things difficult. Either it’s asking for individual checks, or only putting money towards their meal. And sometimes, there is another friend who orders the entire menu and 15 glasses of wine, and expects everyone to pay for it. We’ve discovered that there is really a fine line between what’s considered “proper dinner etiquette,” and what’s just plain rude.

To lighten the mood, and awkward dinner situations (for everyone), LifeDaily has compiled a list of What NOT To Do When Dining With Friends:

1. Do not ask for your own individual check
